Renault is killing it with Dacia in the last few years.
This price for this size and for this kind of HEV drive is absulotely nuts, they even cranked up the engine from 1.6 to 1.8, and we know from past years that this E-Tech drive is bulletproof. After years of hegemony, Toyota may get a potent comoetitor with this power train. We know damn well that Renault will pack this updated HEV system in all their upcoming facelifts, not just Dacia.
Renault/Dacia is the new light in the dark, the past VW we all loved in the 00s. As a Renault/Toyota owner I like this Bigster a lot, hope it will cause serious headache for other manufacturers in the C segment SUV market.

I just love the design and honesty of the materials, it looks really smart on the inside too. If it was a 7-seater, I'd be getting one right away in exchange for our family car, a 7-seater C4 Picasso, which looked fancy as new, but then the materials decayed like ripped plants. I bet these will hold much better. Would love to see a diesel too, for me they are so much better in the motorway at keeping a good pace at low fuel consumption, and lower engine noise too, as at higher speeds petrol engines tend to be heard inside these cheaper cars cabins.

Doesn't look hot to me. Too much of a Duster clone. I get they didn't want to stray too much beyond €30k but this is a bigger car than Duster and yet it can't do anything so much better that it's clearly the better choice despite the extra money.
Needs much more powerful pure ICE engines. A 4x4 170+ HP diesel (or even petrol) would make this car much more attractive.
Money are not wisely spent overall. That middle arm rest in the back is terrible, it would've been better to have none. The integrated cup holders are unusable too. They should've kept the alloys smaller, throw out the sunroof, throw out the powered rear hatch and put some money into better materials for door fascias and generally the interior. With a car this big it's really jarrying to get large pieces of hard plastic on the inside.
Anyway, Bigster's biggester problem is it doesn't differentiate enough from the Duster. It's litterally the Duster but a bit biggerer. That won't be enough to bring in significant new sales.
As a Romanian, of course, I hope it'll do well but as a car enthusiast... I think it will just eat into Duster's sales.

I think it really looks good compared to all the weird Chinese looking cars that are competing around the same price range.. but I also agree with you there isn’t much compelling buyers to go for this over the duster especially when they share those weak power trains! And this is bigger and a bit heavier, I mean if you want 4x4 you forced to get the weakest of the variant. I don’t know what logic Dacia is using to justify that.
Like you said this car with a 170+hp 4x4 petrol better yet diesel would be an absolute gem at that price

    • @desild5869
      @desild5869 3 месяца назад

@@nmvi226 The major blocker against good ICE engines is the EU and their industry-killing emission fines invented in TOTAL disconnect from technical & scientific reality.
With the current engine lineup, Dacia is close to the ~116 g of CO2 / km boundary, below which there are no fines but starting from next year the boundary arbitrarily moves down to ~94 g and the fines are ~95 EUR for each gram above. So the prices of current Dacias already need to shoot up by well over 2000 EUR (you have to add VAT to the fine) just to keep profitability leveled.
A more powerful ICE with 170+ HP has become utterly unaffordable to regular people because just the engine would make the car more expensive by 10000 EUR due to CO2 fines.

Next time you could show driver's PoV with actually showing the view through the front window. Is it narrow like in a bunker, or spacious? Is the view to the sides spacious and safe or crampy and obstructed? Also when you're showing the trunk, use some light, it is almost dark.
The car itself is interesting, but it is basically a bit bigger duster. I wish at least the floor of the trunk with the seats folder to be even.

1.The Duster and the Bigster from a technical perspective have adequate engines for the weight of the car and the dynamics of the platofrm, engineers usually calculate these things, so any of those engines will do it's job. 2.Dacia will never compete with it's sister company Renault and it's lineup of models. 3 I get the feeling that many of the Dacia brand detractors have a big issue that they cannot flex with a Dacia like they can with a german car :).

A lot of weird decision from Dacia. All wheel drive on the least powerful model and it has to be manual, you’d think it makes more sense to put AWD on the 155hp and make it both automatic and manual, charge a bit more and let the customer choose and pay for what they really want. Plus the140/130hp duster was already under powered this bigger version won’t do any better🤦‍♂️.
It would have been better to offer 1 version of the 1.2 140hp lpg fwd, Then have the 1.8 hybrid with 155hp 2wd and finally 1.8 hybrid or 2l with 180+hp 4wd petrol but diesel would be the sweet spot. With this they’ll own the market.

New Dacias actually have very good crash safety scores, the only thing holding back their total score going higher is the absence of electronic drive aids which a lot of people find annoying. I'd rather have them but it would not be a deal breaker.
