It is difficult to react or respond to a country where they work for 50-60 hours a week, including Saturday for a fifth of the income, compared to a worker in the same branche in Germany or the Netherlands. We cannot compete. We are used to being on sick leave when we have a cough or do not feel like going to work, we want a 3 week holiday and a decent pay so we can save for a car that the company we work for manufactures. None of this matters in China and if one worker is not available for a while, there are a million others to chose from who will work for scraps.
As an American I can’t help but wonder when we’ll wake up? How much longer can our industry leaders think they can continue to waste all their resources on CEO compensation, stock price manipulation and advertising without making any effort towards innovation and quality. It’s our entire economy. Most of our GDP comes from milking the wealth away from our historically wealthy middle class through exorbitant prices. Made possible through monopolies and a closed off consumer market. Sorry to go off on an economic rant, but this car and many others from China show it’s only a matter of time until it becomes truly embarrassing.
Well you can start by first acknowledge the toxic plague of fake news in your society and actually do something about them. You got to where you are because you have generations of people soaked in fake news about other parts of the world ever since they were born for decades. The natural outcome of that is where you are right now, which is most people from all aspects of the society make wrong judgements in their working and personal life, for decades. It only took as long as 30-40 years to get here, thanks to the dominant position of the US dollar. Without that, it would've been way faster.
And any eu or usa company this car will sell million and share price 150 dollar I remember when lucid deliver lucid air share price 12 to 60 .....they not even sell 10k
@@ahmedchowdhury3391 you are on to something there - only ”issue” is the very small boot space of only 390 liters and no folding rear seats. That is just not sufficient… The Nio ET7 has the same problem with small boot space.
The front and the sides look nice but not the rear of the car. These Chinese EV's that are offered to the German car buyers have to be good as consumers in the German market are the most demanding in terms of quality and features.
The price of NIO is high, but there is no way it is super-expensive like high-end BMW/Porsche. In the past, you had to be extremely rich to possess Porsche and the likes, but now you only need to be at the higher end of Middle Income class to possess similar cars but coming from China.
@@KyleHubbjust like TESLA didn’t make any money for over 18 years buddy, the only difference is NIO is projecte to be revenue positive by the 2026 you party popper 😂
Tried the configurator of the Audi A6 yesterday. Had to add some crazy expensive pack just to get USB ports that would actually charge a phone. I have zero compassion for the European brands.
this is what i call a good interior quality. every single detail looks solid and expensive. even the window controls. bmw, mercedes and audi should watch and learn from this, instead of applying excessive costcutting
did you skip the part where its 100k in China? BMW, Merc and Audi also has this kind of build quality in their top segment. Probably even better in terms of NVH too. Ive had the pleasure to drive all the F segment cars over the past 2 years and no car has come close to an S class or 7 series. Not the Lexus LS, not the Genesis G90, not the Lucid Air,... Its to be seen if NIO manages that level of silence, vibration dampening and body control even with this new "porsche" suspension.
the porsche has a similar suspension option but like thomas said 15hz meanwhile nio has it with 50hz. and a similarly specced panamera / i7 or eqs will cost close to 200k while the nio costs 100k fully equipped
@@derbigpr500 There is no luxury car built with cheaper plastics than the s-class. Go take one for a spin and you will see that every panel has a rattle in that car.
Interesting that BMW's latest design direction is blamed on Chinese tastes, but Chinese domestic companies make cars that look the opposite of what BMW offers.
We don't like the latest BMW design language in China, it's ugly thus the sells of this generation in China is very miserable, even BMW is offering huge disount.
Unlike European luxury brands who mostly rely on their brand value and nickle and dime you for every little add-on, Chinese EV companies simply try to offer you as much as possible. For a European car, you may only get 20% more features for a 100% increase in price, whereas Chinese cars simply give you 100% more features for a 100% hike in price.

I just have to give in and admit it that the Chinese now make great cars. They seem to have overcome the old "Chinesy" and "shiny-shiny" designs. The new designs are nice and mature. Technology-wise, they are also doing very good, all the while improving. Nice review!
Honestly the Chinese only had like 6-7 years of tacky designs when it comes to EVs, their design has evolved at lightning speed. Right now Galaxy E8, Xiaomi Su7, Xpeng cars, leapmotor minivans, Nio cars, Xpeng Mona etc. etc. all look very mature and understated whereas even 3 years I'd say yeah, the cars looked overdesigned.
@joecool9739 You got the wrong ev. The wheels fell off from Toyota BZ4X ev. As for catching fire, it mostly happened Mercedes evs. Like that huge fire in SKorea, where 200 cars were destroyed in a basement carport. It was caused by a Merc EQS ev. I have personally seen three ev fires and one of them is an EQS.
Chinese and US automakers are leading the way with displays and ui. Imo GM is doing a great job with its 4 brands, I like that they aren't doing the standard rectangular display and are implementing exotic shapes such as the one in most new cadillac and new chevy. The Germans in the other hand are not meeting they're luxurious status when it comes to displays. For example, look at a new chevy traverse and the new audi a5, they have a similar shaped screen(slightly different) housing, however, chevys screen is actually the shape of the housing(thin bezel) and the audi has 2 rectangular displays inside one piece of glass with esthetic bezels.
everything on the car comes as standard on the car, and every single thing is of best quality. this is how you should sell a car. honest and worth your money.
Traditional luxury car manufacturers (European) have been price-gouging their customers forever. Despite preferring their models over this, it's about time stiff competition arrived to give them a really rude awakening.
I really like the idea that everything comes as a standard! But actually it is not that case in NIO. As a NIO owner, I spent about 15% of the total cost for the options, such as the smart-tinting glass ceiling, hitch receiver (trailer ball joint), interior and exterior color, microfiber interior, all are optional. As for ET9, the 60hour color cost about $4000, other colors are about $1500. Some interior features are also optional such as the rear screens. Well, at least the suspension is standard.
I’ve never been interested in big and/or luxurious vehicles but the software and hardware (including parts like the suspension, steering, charging, etc) will trickle down to other Nio vehicles (some already has) so that’s a good thing. IMHO, it’s (probably) the nicest car ever made.
This is truly a global collaboration between European and Chinese team. The exterior looks far better than BMW 7 series and Audi A8. The interior is definitely better than A8, S class and the 7 series.
Europeans still make fun of Chinese cars. Truth is, they're evolving at lightspeed rate and we are way, way behind in the dust... If I was Toyota, Stellantis or VW, I would be extremely worried. Their EVs are far behind Nio.
I have an Xpeng G9 Performance and would seriously consider this as my next luxury car. I also prefer the current Genesis G90 over the S Class and latest BMW 7 Series. Badge snobbery means very little to me vs features and product quality. This vehicle looks impressive!
The one thing I know is this: if you put tariffs on these gorgeous cars, you are actually depriving your own countrymen of having good cars for cheap and are forcing them to buy American or German cars that offer much less features for much greater a price.
That is our brand of "democracy", our "Freedom". We live in a free country where cars symbolize freedom (dumb concept by the way) where the government decides what cars we can or can't actually buy. LOL
@@VaioletteWestover Well said. Too many people don't realize that by placing these tariffs, the EU is no better than the Chinese communism that the EU (and USA) loves to hate. Hypocrites. This only hurts the people and actually incentivise M-B, BMW, and Audi to continue producing overpriced, lackluster cars.
Please somebody explain Thomas that animals are not slaughtered solely for their skin. Animal skin for seats and other interior parts is taken from animals which are used for meat anyway. If you don't use their skin for things like seats it will be wasted. There is no killing for human pleasure going on, it's just using as much parts of animal as possible. On the other hand using fake leather means using plastic thus polluting air, soil and water more.
Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment. You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. The classic approach is using oil/plastic as source material. Overall, a vehicle contains about 300 kg plastic. A car seat needs about 5 kg plastic. So the overall plastic share for the seats is very low and it is at this moment the most efficient way to produce a car seat. A couple of litres of fuel equals a car seat basically. So if you want to save oil/plastic, rather look at consumption for energy, fuel and heating and to other car parts than the seat. Note that animal skin leather also always contains a plastic coating for durability. However, long-term we should of course find raw oil alternatives. So going further, seats can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even increased share of plant-based materials (like pine oil, canola oil or start-up materials like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum, so be seen at ruclips.net/video/S1aNZeoatmE/видео.html). On a calculation base, by ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) % (www.press.bmwgroup.com/africa-dom-easteurope/article/detail/T0403389EN/on-the-market-from-2023:-bmw-and-mini-models-with-vegan-interiors?language=en) - and that is a very conservative calculation. So it is at this moment the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable. A good example for high-end luxury with ventilated animal free seats is the BMW X7 with Sensafin: ruclips.net/video/1pRNkW9nrrw/видео.html And the Kia EV9 with plant-based oil share: ruclips.net/video/6vXePQi_MAk/видео.html New leatherette materials can be superior in every aspect, even for cleaning: ruclips.net/video/u94YXJ72UTA/видео.html More and more natural materials are rising: ruclips.net/video/nRSsXEnwHDo/видео.html Also check out what the animal skin leather industry tried to with our channel: ruclips.net/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/видео.html For seeing how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: ruclips.net/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/видео.html Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally. Also a group of researchers and German journalists from public media could recent directly trace the connection between car animal leather production and illegal burning down Amazon rain forest: www.daserste.de/information/reportage-dokumentation/ard-story/videos/illegales-leder-video-100.html In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat is the "first" misuse case, the hide remains a profitable body part. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you demand it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and harms the environment, you make them more profitable. Alternatively, you could support industries with your wallet which try to improve the sustainability of materials. Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the primary use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse? Remember that animal skin leather is no different to fur, fur is just leather where the hair is still on. And fur is widely not accepted for clothing anymore, and of course not for cars. We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future. For a great insight into sustainability in the automotive industry, you can also check out our extensive documentary: ruclips.net/video/-8gNXlRGngA/видео.html The argument that leather is merely a "waste" product of the food industry and therefore ethical or sustainable has been a topic of debate, and there are several reasons why it is considered problematic and unethical: 1. Leather is a Profitable Co-Product, not a Byproduct. * Leather is not a waste material. It is a valuable co-product of the meat and dairy industries, meaning that the skins and hides of animals are sold for profit. The global leather industry is worth billions of dollars, and the demand for high-quality leather, particularly for luxury goods, is significant. * Economic Contribution: By buying leather, consumers are directly contributing to the profitability of the meat and dairy industries, reinforcing demand for animal farming. Leather adds financial value to the slaughter of animals, which in turn incentivizes the continuation of intensive animal agriculture. 2. Encourages the Environmental Impact of Animal Farming * Environmental Harm: Animal farming is a leading cause of environmental degradation. It contributes to deforestation, water pollution, and is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions. The leather industry, as part of this system, intensifies the environmental impact. * Tanning Process: Leather production itself is extremely resource-intensive and involves harmful chemicals like chromium, which can pollute water sources and harm ecosystems and communities living near tanneries. The argument that leather is a "waste" deflects from these significant environmental costs. 3. Supports Cruel Animal Farming Practices * Factory Farming: Most leather comes from animals raised in factory farms where they endure inhumane conditions-such as overcrowding, mutilation (dehorning, tail docking), and often brutal slaughter practices. * Leather Sources Beyond Cattle: It’s important to note that leather is not only sourced from cows. Other animals such as pigs, sheep, goats, and even exotic animals like crocodiles and snakes are often killed specifically for their skins. In some cases, animals are bred solely for leather production, especially in the case of exotic leathers. 4. Leather’s Role in the Global Meat and Dairy Supply Chain * The "Chicken and Egg" Relationship: The leather industry is deeply intertwined with the meat and dairy supply chains. It is misleading to claim that leather is merely a waste product when in reality it adds value to the entire system. The more leather that is purchased, the more profitable it becomes for the animal agriculture industry to keep raising and slaughtering animals. * Ethical Disconnect: From an ethical standpoint, using leather under the assumption that it’s “just waste” ignores the larger systemic issues of animal exploitation. It perpetuates a cycle where animals are bred, confined, and slaughtered in massive numbers, not just for meat but also for profit from their hides. 5. There Are Viable, Sustainable Alternatives * Innovation in Vegan Leathers: Today, there are numerous cruelty-free, sustainable alternatives to animal leather, such as pineapple leather (Piñatex), mushroom leather, apple leather, and even lab-grown leather. These options do not involve the same ethical, environmental, or health concerns as traditional leather production. * Sustainability Argument: Many leather alternatives are far more environmentally friendly. For instance, plant-based and recycled materials often require fewer resources and generate less pollution compared to the production of leather from animal hides, which requires heavy water and energy consumption and the use of toxic chemicals in tanning. 6. Moral and Ethical Considerations * Devaluing Animal Lives: By framing leather as a “waste” product, it downplays the intrinsic value of animal lives and reduces sentient beings to mere commodities. This perspective is often criticized for failing to acknowledge the rights of animals to live free from exploitation and harm. * Speciesism: The belief that animals can be farmed for their skins because their lives are less important than human needs or luxury goods can be seen as a form of speciesism-the assumption that human interests always take precedence over the welfare of other species, even when non-leather alternatives are available. 7. Global Impact on Communities * Health Risks to Workers: Many leather tanneries, especially in developing countries, expose workers to unsafe chemicals like chromium salts. These chemicals can cause severe health issues, including cancer, respiratory problems, and skin conditions. Communities near tanneries often suffer from polluted water and land. * Environmental Justice: Often, the communities that are most affected by the environmental harm of the leather industry are poor and marginalized. These populations bear the brunt of the environmental degradation, even though the demand for leather comes largely from wealthier consumers in more developed countries. The idea that leather is a "waste" product from the food industry is misleading and unethical because it ignores the significant role that leather plays in the profitability of animal farming, the environmental degradation it causes, the cruelty inherent in the industry, and the availability of sustainable alternatives. To label leather as mere "waste" downplays its substantial impact on both animals and the environment, making this argument a way to justify the continued use of an ethically and environmentally problematic material.
Luckily, they decided to keep real skin instead of faked. Luxury with fake plastic leather is not luxury at all. If you are so for the eco leather then, I guess you should study topics about lithium mining and stop talking about ev being eco friendly...
@@Kitay4a EVs are eco friendly, over the lifetime of an EV, including all pollution and environmental impact that went into building the car, it will be 60% less harmful to the environment than a gas car. and luxury can 100% mean there is no leather. You only think leather = luxury because that's what you were told.
@@VaioletteWestover thanks for your comment. But if you think widely and study more about lithium mining in Africa and South America 70% of all lithium mining belongs to China and those are not eco friendly at all. Then I agree it is clean to use EV in Norway for example where 98% of electricity is clean and green. Other countries it is mostly fossil fuel power plants [except those who have nuclear power]. Then recycling of batteries is not clean and you can extract just small amount of lithium from used batteries. I mean I don't have anything against EV or Eco leather. But I would choose real leather instead of faked.
@@Kitay4a The figures I quoted are from if the EV only ever uses electricity generated from coal and gas. Can you please do some basic research before replying?
The battery replacement automation that Nio has developed would be so cool if adopted by all manufacturers.. even more cool if there was a common battery standard where all electric vehicles have the same type replacement battery with different charge capacity depending on vehicle size and cost. Imagine if you could just replace the battery so quickly when you wanted to, charge it when you wanted to, anywhere , anytime. Would take away the stress with vehicle depreciation because of battery aging as well... Genius from Nio, everyone should do it, but the industry should standardise same battery replacement system for all vehicles so that EV sales can take off ..
The battery cost is at least 50% of the car, you can see Tesla as an example where the cost for replacing the battery is insane, so in my opinion the battery swap station is the best
@@Kortusmaximus Battery Swap IS nonsense? Let me offer you some free knowledge about NIO's battery swap technology in China: Fast and Efficient: In just about 3 minutes, your vehicle is ready to go with a 92% charged battery. (Okay, I exaggerated a bit-it’s not 100%, but close enough to get you back on the road without the wait!) No Worries About Battery Degradation: Forget the stress of wondering how your battery will hold up in 5 or 10 years. For instance, think about a 2018 Tesla Model S-how is its battery holding up now? With NIO, that’s a worry of the past. Upgradable Anytime: Even if you purchased a NIO ES8 with a 70 kWh battery back in 2018, you can upgrade it to a 150 kWh battery in 2024. Need to go on a long road trip? No problem-just swap to a higher-capacity battery for the journey. Isn’t that ideal? Of course, all of this is currently available mainly in China, so only a limited group of consumers gets to enjoy this convenience. If you think this is nonsense, I can understand-because you haven’t experienced it yet. 😉

@@SJ-eu7emyou’re comparing combustion engines to electric vehicles. EV’s haven’t been around long enough to judge reliability standards like we can older cars that can engine swap, etc. Currently, EV’s require WAY less maintenance. Batteries can accrue more miles with less hassle than an engine, despite battery degradation. It’s like comparing oranges and apples. We don’t know the reliability of this kind of vehicle. However, we do know that other current models, Tesla, Euro, etc., they depreciate at ridiculous speeds. Part of EV depreciation is the battery cost. Replacement is too expensive, you may as well buy a brand new car. I guess we’ll see how Chinese EV’s hold up, but no one knows yet. They’re all brand new.
There is also Xiaomi doing Cars. yeah they left the chat cause they've realized they have nothing to worry about. its a cool car for sure. but its severely lacking in true luxury opulence. the only car company that shoud be worried is Toyota/Lexus. Even the new genesis G90 is a far superior car.
In the third quarter of 2024, Mercedes-Benz lost 54 percent of its profits, BMW 84 percent, Audi 91 percent and Volkswagen 64 percent. I just saw that the manufacturer that specializes in supplying Mercedes Benz marks went bankrupt. The cold winter has come.
You like it or not, you want to confess it or not but the fact is….. China is indeed at a different level now. I was in Shanghai last year and was highly impressed!
I was born in Beijing but I spent most of my life in the US and the UK. Every time I come back, things are completely different. First it was the subways-- Beijing builds at least one new line every one or two years. It didn't take very long for my subway knowledge to be completely useless. I moved abroad when Beijing only had 5 or 6 subway lines. There are 20+ now. And the cars-- we all made fun of Chinese EVs. But now, everyone in China has bought one or is planning to buy one. The city I left is nothing like the city I returned to.
Audi. Merc and BMW should be afraid of themselves rather than any competition. I've owned all 3 German brands, I loved those cars, but I owned them when 'luxury' meant something. Merc quality has been in decline for years but I was shocked on a recent visit to Audi and BMW showroom as there were many obvious signs of cost cutting. Why would I buy an Audi when even Skoda appears just as, if not more luxurious? It's such a minor point, but many of these German premium brands have gone as far as removing the felt lining from front door pockets! Even the once ingenious designed cupholders have disappeared, only to be replaced by a simple plastic recess you'd find in any budget mass-market saloon.
Because you would pay 130.000€ for this car without tariffs? 😂 Literally nobody in Europe will do that even without tariffs. For that kind of money you are in the Porsche, Audi, BMW, Mercedes zone which will always stay more attractive to European customers.
People have no idea how good the chinese cars are unless you see one for themselves. Many people completely ignore the chinese and go for Audi, bmw and such. Now they know the germans have been ripping us for a long long time
Agreed. This is what happened in the 1990s when the Lexus LS400 came out. It reset the benchmark for price vs luxury. The Chinese are now doing what the Japanese did. This is great for the consumer (you and me).

This looks more like a direct competitor to the Lucid brand. This car however, is designed with incredible thoughtfulness to strike a very delicate balance between engineering technology, elite level luxury, but with a "fun" daily "real life" utility to it, all at the same time. The fact they thought to make the independent air suspension dual use for both superior road absorption as well as a 5D theatrical experience when stationary, is just brilliant as it is fun.

Good on NIO for offering leather, real leather. Sick of the cheap vinyl material that doesn't breathe for anything. That's why we bought a Seal Performance as it has genuine leather here in Australia. Didn't want the fake crap in the Tesla.

If my name started with V and ended with olkswagen I’d be crappin my pants. I like the Nio in every aspect, the design is 10/10. The only issue for me is that there aren’t enough retailers or a workshop network that I trust. If something goes wrong with the car, how easy is it to get help? Also insurance becomes an issue, usually the price will be off the charts for this type of car. We need some Chinese insurance companies to open up here to offer a full program to offer a truly smooth experience all the way and not only a sublime car. Tesla has sort of achieved that in Europe except for the insurance part.
@ me personally I prefer my cars with engines. The ID 7 and new Audi A6 costs more if you load them up. But if you’re looking for a car without engine you can probably find one in the junkyard 🫡
We know high-end German cars are very good. But given the ever increasing energy price in Germany, leading to high product price, at some point, one may ask: is it still really worth it? Maybe I'm wrong: when a rich man spends 300k dollar for a car, they don't mind spending 100k more on that car.
@@oceanwave4502yes those rattling interior plastics, cheap leather with bad stitching, laggy and overall badly designed infotainment on W222, W223 & look at EQS 😂😂 who approved that design?! With this car NIO really shows what they are capable of! They are using their own AD chip which is insane considering everybody is using the NVIDIA Orin chip.
Indeed! And together with my colleagues, we deploying all our AD-Softwares to OUR OWN Chip instead on Orin-X from Nvidia, to supply our end customer even better AD performance with lower cost. To make this hard decision from purchasing Chip, to In-House development, thank America Government! They accelerate the decision process. AND NOW, we are ready,
The Germans and Europeans at large plus the Americans have to stop charging a premium for less car. the Chinese are depending largely on robots besides their verticle integration to provide affordable cars which are even better than the competition.
I think what he means is that in the past luxury was easier to spot. Materials, engines and brand reputation made something feel special, appealing and desirable. Luxury is of course a very subjective term, which for me translates into “unnecessary but desirable.” But I can relate with the original comment - I have the same problem, I find most designs and products unnecessary (square steering wheel is a prime example) but more importantly I personally find them undesirable. I cant explain why but there is no childish need, fantasies, dreams or emotions that would make me buy modern cars (Chinese and European). They are all different but still feel and look like they are the same - feels like all try to copy tesla ideas. (Again my personal view) I need to choose for electric due to company policies but so far electric cars have not managed to spark a single emotion in me…
here in china , Mercedes bmw and audi has to cut their price to compete with li auto , nio , aito ,xpeng ,xiaomi , though they did this ,their sales were also affected
You are wrong. There is no competition anymore. Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi can only compete for low-end users and users with older knowledge. No one cares about pioneering and popular users anymore. Their technology and image are out of sync with Chinese technology, including Volkswagen.
Wow… I thought i was back on a Singapore Airline seat. Just amazing the thoughts that have been put on this premium vehicle. Yes Chinese high class cars are almost above Europeans top levels. No doubts competition will be intensive not only on the old continent but everywhere else. I am very impressed and this is not the first time. I am actually waiting the Zeekr 7X in the coming months for a possible choice. Many and Happy Christmas to you both.
Many foreign car critics have not talked about the real leadership of Chinese cars. If you go to the evaluation video of technology bloggers, you will know that the new gameplay and new technologies around chip processing and software systems are beyond the reach of traditional car companies.
I owned a BMW 750i 2008 for 13 years. Inside out was like brand new when I sold it for $1500 at 140kmi. It needed a catalytic converter that cost close to its value($8000).I would spend the money but transmission is another issue that would cost around $9k. ET9 have the same cost for new, yet much better. And if I have to replace the battery in 5 years, by then I am sure battery cost will be reasonable assuming $0 labour. All German luxury cars become a serious financial burden after manufacture warranty expires.
Just crazy when you think that it only took a decade to the chinese automakers to really catch up and then overtake the most popular european brands with some 100+ years of history and heritage. I don't even mention the american brands cause they are so irrelevant quite frankly😅😅
@tomorrowland2684 that might be true when talking about ICE tech. But when it comes to BEV European manufacturers have nothing to transfer in term of technology, quite the contrary indeed. Let alone when talking about battery technology where there are no such european companies at all.
@@tomorrowland2684 it never happened; if you ask any one in china automotive industry this is a know fact, the VW ventures kept for sure their tech out of chinese hands, they could not compete.

Yes the Germans should be afraid. I get that the Germans needs all the screens screens screens to be able to sell in China but they have already lost that market and will not be able to compete in price. However as a European I bought Audi & BMW because I didn't want the Tesla "everything in screen" experience but something more premium. Now the Germans try to to the same thing. The interiors was better 5 years ago in all German cars. If they don't offer something better they will lose the European market soon as well. My lease on current BMW 330e will end in May and after 4 new Audi/BMWs in the last 10 years I'm not so sure I will get a new one.
Wow. The technology package of this car is amazing. My dumb car 2024 Range Rover AC knob already falling off, this will be my next car absolutely. Who’s Nio anyway?
Interesting how the split light design has become popular. The Jeep Cherokee 2014 model looked so similar to this but they changed the look back to traditional on the update because it wasn't very popular, now so many cars use exactly the same design.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the whole Autogefühl team! Love your honesty, correctness and humoristic videos. Thanks and looking forward to following you also in 2025!
The Germans, who sell every feature as an option, shouldn't have produced cars anyway. They are too arrogant. The Americans will survive under Tesla's leadership. As for the Japanese, they are still busy marketing hibrit vehicles to their customers. They haven't developed any technology for twenty years.

I completely agree that measures must be taken to enhance our competitiveness against China.
@@daadirabbiwhy against China.. what have they done to you? Why against China...why??😮

did you skip the part where its 100k in China? BMW, Merc and Audi also has this kind of build quality in their top segment. Probably even better in terms of NVH too. Ive had the pleasure to drive all the F segment cars over the past 2 years and no car has come close to an S class or 7 series. Not the Lexus LS, not the Genesis G90, not the Lucid Air,... Its to be seen if NIO manages that level of silence, vibration dampening and body control even with this new "porsche" suspension.
the porsche has a similar suspension option but like thomas said 15hz meanwhile nio has it with 50hz.

The Germans in the other hand are not meeting they're luxurious status when it comes to displays.

In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter.

The argument that leather is merely a "waste" product of the food industry and therefore ethical or sustainable has been a topic of debate, and there are several reasons why it is considered problematic and unethical:
2. Encourages the Environmental Impact of Animal Farming
* Environmental Harm: Animal farming is a leading cause of environmental degradation.
3. Supports Cruel Animal Farming Practices
* Factory Farming: Most leather comes from animals raised in factory farms where they endure inhumane conditions-such as overcrowding, mutilation (dehorning, tail docking), and often brutal slaughter practices.
4. Leather’s Role in the Global Meat and Dairy Supply Chain
* The "Chicken and Egg" Relationship: The leather industry is deeply intertwined with the meat and dairy supply chains.
5. There Are Viable, Sustainable Alternatives
* Innovation in Vegan Leathers: Today, there are numerous cruelty-free, sustainable alternatives to animal leather, such as pineapple leather (Piñatex), mushroom leather, apple leather, and even lab-grown leather.
6. Moral and Ethical Considerations
* Devaluing Animal Lives: By framing leather as a “waste” product, it downplays the intrinsic value of animal lives and reduces sentient beings to mere commodities.
7. Global Impact on Communities
* Health Risks to Workers: Many leather tanneries, especially in developing countries, expose workers to unsafe chemicals like chromium salts.
Battery Swap IS nonsense!
The battery cost is at least 50% of the car, you can see Tesla as an example where the cost for replacing the battery is insane, so in my opinion the battery swap station is the best
@@Kortusmaximus Battery Swap IS nonsense? Let me offer you some free knowledge about NIO's battery swap technology in China:
Fast and Efficient: In just about 3 minutes, your vehicle is ready to go with a 92% charged battery. (Okay, I exaggerated a bit-it’s not 100%, but close enough to get you back on the road without the wait!)
No Worries About Battery Degradation: Forget the stress of wondering how your battery will hold up in 5 or 10 years.

The quality is absolutely outstanding…wow! Nice job Nio
Very nice review, Thomas. You should show more Chinese cars. They have amazing cars for all segments of the market and much cheaper than Germans.
cheers m8 !
The rich can now pay to go over speedbumps without slowing down.
The Germans and Europeans at large plus the Americans have to stop charging a premium for less car. the Chinese are depending largely on robots besides their verticle integration to provide affordable cars which are even better than the competition.
This is the best car in the world. ❤NIO❤
Seeing all these modern "luxury" cars I realize I don't know what luxury means anymore.
The manufacturers don't know either, as it used to be wood, leather, and well made fittings, now it's just screens and gimmicks.
Why? 🤔 This car is probably more luxurious than whatever car you are thinking from the last 20 years
Luxury means great ride quality, sound insulation, seating space, ambiance feeling etc. Just adding wood to the interior is not everything.

(Again my personal view)
I need to choose for electric due to company policies but so far electric cars have not managed to spark a single emotion in me…
What a nice presentation with an excellent car 🫡
Highly appreciated! Please recommend our channel 😎
here in china , Mercedes bmw and audi has to cut their price to compete with li auto , nio , aito ,xpeng ,xiaomi , though they did this ,their sales were also affected
You are wrong. There is no competition anymore. Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi can only compete for low-end users and users with older knowledge. No one cares about pioneering and popular users anymore. Their technology and image are out of sync with Chinese technology, including Volkswagen.
a new class of originality and luxury is born
Wow… I thought i was back on a Singapore Airline seat. Just amazing the thoughts that have been put on this premium vehicle. Yes Chinese high class cars are almost above Europeans top levels. No doubts competition will be intensive not only on the old continent but everywhere else. I am very impressed and this is not the first time. I am actually waiting the Zeekr 7X in the coming months for a possible choice. Many and Happy Christmas to you both.
Merry xmas 🎄🙌
I have to say: This looks like a great quality car.
Many foreign car critics have not talked about the real leadership of Chinese cars. If you go to the evaluation video of technology bloggers, you will know that the new gameplay and new technologies around chip processing and software systems are beyond the reach of traditional car companies.
Definitely the best limousine in the world! NIO is the future.
When the companies transfer the tech to sell more cars it’s easy to catch up.
@tomorrowland2684 that might be true when talking about ICE tech.
But when it comes to BEV European manufacturers have nothing to transfer in term of technology, quite the contrary indeed. Let alone when talking about battery technology where there are no such european companies at all.
@@reharh7330 If the technology transfer really worked as it should, China wouldn't have to bother developing electric cars.
@@tomorrowland2684 it never happened; if you ask any one in china automotive industry this is a know fact, the VW ventures kept for sure their tech out of chinese hands, they could not compete.
@@reharh7330 the designers are European, they took page from Tesla, they took a page from European robotics.
The problem with Europe is its factories and unions, they can’t fire and hire at the pace. Chinese can hire the designers from Europe , US, attract investments and duplicate work, create something on top of it.
Everything is not unique but it’s mass producing based on the regulations and free things they get out of the CCP
The smooth camera work is amazing!

He is trying so hard to find things to criticize, it’s so funny to watch! :) Not just Audi, Mercedes, and BMW.. Porsche and Tesla should also be afraid, to be honest. I’m a BMW fan, but I would buy this in a heartbeat..
The thick bezel around the infotainment screen on modern Mercedes cars is enough to stop me from buying them. It's unfortunate that Chinese cars are prevented from entering the North American market.
It is quite unfortunate that we have come to a point where the bezel of a screen is the defining factor when purchasing a vehicle.
@@alexanderdenchev7967 Well you know that almost every Europe manufturer always would show you top specs car but if you buy any lower trim you would get car where 70% off screen is bezel.WIth that tiny trick they wanted to push you to buy top trims
Do you actually own a Mercedes?
Love NIO’s flagship et9 crazy all this tech comes standard and the suspensions and hydraulic on this vehicle is insane.
This is one beautiful car.
14:31 ..... Look at the details .... the fire sparks popping in the backround.......iam blown away ......
This car is better than over hyped German cars. I will buy one of this Nio.
Wow amazing delivery, all that information and not even in your native language.

- european vehicle manufacturers... these vehicles are in another dimension
- we in Sweden LOVE NOMI
Beautiful car, its my dream car since i saw it.. im now trying to become rich enough to buy one when it lands in Europe! 😍
Merry Xmas Thomas and Leah .Thanks for another great year of videos.🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻
merry xmas!
I bought a Maybach S480 six months ago, and it cost me about $240,000. I also want to buy a NIO ET9, which is only half the price of the S480. Unfortunately, my wife just bought a Lotus EMIRA, which used up my car buying budget.
I’m a lifelong bmw fan, owned 5 of them and would buy this Neo over any bmw in a heartbeat.
emmm, Nio's chief designer is Kris Tomasson, who worked in BMW and designed BMW iSeries.
The pace of change in Chinese EVs is insane. German manufacturers please wake up from your 7 years product cycle.
First Chinese EV I am seeing that has a design which could be considered desirable in Europe.
Then you haven't seen much
I mean NIO cars are designed in Munich so I'm not surprised
Chinese EVs are much much nicer than the European cars nowadays. Check Nio ET5 and Nio ET7 for instance.

There're plenty of Chinese cars with great designs.
I like Thomas, very good review. Your work pays off, keep going!

Finally, great review of an excellent car.👏 have happy new year 💐
Happy nu!
Amazing car on both top quality and technology.
Will for sure have a good future if the support will be good in Europe.
Europe is dead do your homework 😂
Excellent review
Thanks 🙏
Nio is the best ❤
Great looking car Thomas and excellent review! Merry Christmas 🎄
merry xmas!
Get a Genesis, better and cheaper than the Germans
i spent hundreds of thousands on car, will not buy a new one anymore. hate the forced security features and screens, these cars will not age well
That was a very nice review, thanks for sharing the features in great details, probably your best review!
Amazing car! I will buy more Nio shares!
This car is absolutely beautiful
Thanks and looking forward to following you also in 2025!
merry xmas!!
Nice 'Queen Wave' Lia, you are a true pro.
=)
NIO is changing the game.
RIP American and German auto manufacturers.
Never buying chinese cars. Also because they are making only electric cars which honestly shame on EV cars
Not to mention those Japanese automakers such as Nissan and Honda.
The Germans, who sell every feature as an option, shouldn't have produced cars anyway. They are too arrogant. The Americans will survive under Tesla's leadership. As for the Japanese, they are still busy marketing hibrit vehicles to their customers. They haven't developed any technology for twenty years.
