didnt see that coming did ya, the sand is a mysterious thing wakes are hidden in plain sight. Ive done that a few times think you 'd learn your lesson the 1st time but they sneak up on you.
Yeah I saw that one coming from the start. You gotta creep up on those ledges. The wind will make the drop extremely steep which will allow the rider (if not careful) to launch the razor back and case the bottom of the hill. You have to ride safely out there in Glamis. It's hella windy here in the Valley and the terrain can change over night.
Sandunes are tricky, the lines blend in due to the color, glad your alright, I ve been riding the sand dubes for 28 years, i rarely drive straigh off unless i ck it out first, try to roll right or left at tops and try to preview if possible, also i wear a brown tinted lens in your gogles , you will find the lines in sand start to show up even in the middle of the day. Nice work, ride hard red rider, 450R Hondas rock.
It's so hard to not hit the brakes when you realize you are going to launch a bit higher than you thought. When you brake in the air, it throws you forward. Been there, done that. I have been lucky, thus far and haven't spilled yet.
Your tough for taking that slam and apparently not getting seriously hurt. Respect. I did one like that and dislocated a rib. High noon can be scary. Try to crest dunes carving sort of like a big skate park for quads.
Thats why I hate riding when its too sunny. Everything looks flat and thats when this happens. I would rather go night riding. I took my friend to Glamis for the first time the other day and I could do was worry about him going over one of these. He still fell but it was just funny. Glad your ok.
Yep, I did the same thing on my YFZ before. launched a Good 30-40 feet down. Just smacked the wind outa my sails tho. I got up in a few minutes. Hope you had the same forgiving hit...
did the same thing on a bike. 07 crf250, came over the top of a razor back while cruising through the dunes, dropped off the edge, panic revved, landed, and rode off just fine. he dropped the front end, which is why he crashed. lawn darted instead of letting the suspension soak it all up. could have been avoided.
Damn that must have sucked. got up pretty quick though. same thing happened to my friend at oceano dunes at the first drop off. What makes my friend stupid though is that he knows that drop off is there lol
He circled around looking at it. Then goes for it right over the edge. From the start I can clearly see that spot in his vision unless he was looking at his buddies
was this for Memorial Weekend? It was rough out there... it was hard to see cuz of the wind. where do you park? maybe we can head out together someday. :)
Same thing happened to me in pismo at a faster speed and bigger drop. Dislocated my left leg from my hip and landed 45 feet from the top of the drop. Worst injury to this day. But we all know the risks.
this is surely the pot calling the kettle black...but he just rode by the edge and looked right at it...circled around and drove off the cliff. Short term memory loss? Glad he was okay though, I would have shat for sure.
He probably didn't see the drop off. Something similar happened to me once and after that I started using goggles with colored lenses. It helps you see a little better
@LostGoatRacing heck ya!!! almost did the same thing on my 300ex out a gordons well at halloween. was going 4th gear full throttle next thing i know i was trying to regain controll and figure out what happened.lol
Love it how everyone comes to help.. Much respect!

Im lucky that I only got hit once and that was it I got traumatized
I'm always afraid that will happen to me. It helps to ride in the morning and afternoon so there are larger shadows
i like how everyone comes to help its nice
Glad to see people are so quick to come to the aid of a stranger out there!
Dame dude... I know the feeling... I did the same thing in Glamis on pres day... plunged about 25 feet and broke my collar bone.
I jumped out of my chair as soon as you were in the air man. That kind of stuff hurts so bad. And its scarier then hell man. Thank god your okay.

That looked like a big drop. It's nice to see that people will still offer help to a stranger.

One of the reasons I love going. You get hurt, everyone comes to your aid and the other way around.
It's so hard to not hit the brakes when you realize you are going to launch a bit higher than you thought. When you brake in the air, it throws you forward. Been there, done that. I have been lucky, thus far and haven't spilled yet.
you hit so hard... no panic rev. took it like a champ
ahh the sweet sound of 2 strokes buzzing in the back
Your tough for taking that slam and apparently not getting seriously hurt. Respect. I did one like that and dislocated a rib. High noon can be scary. Try to crest dunes carving sort of like a big skate park for quads.

Shadows and razor backs don't mix , glad you are okay brutha
@Dammit250r I love the "that looked like you hit head fuckin' first" and the casual "yeah........I did".
Man, Stuff like this is why I love the glamis / any dunes.
Not because of the crash, But because everyone helps eachother.
I love going to glamis cause all the people there are caring. If you crash they are there to help out.
haha
guy: "you alright"
dude that crashed: "not really"
haha lol

Wow glammis looks awsome ! Lov to shred over ther on my 500 with a turbo paddle nice 3 wheelrs
it so hard to tell where there is a drop like that next thing you know you r already over the handle bars

Who jumps off a dune like that? Like you couldn't tell it was a 20ft drop.
wow....looked like alotta pain...surprised how quick he was like im alright...did the bars bend tho?? or was it just me
this guy badass, after getting crushed by a quad he dosent scream or anything he just goes like, fuck and then gets up
Can never over estimate your physical abilities on one of these things.......Ouch!!!
That is exactly what happened to my dad except he wasn't okay. I posted a video response of the what happened. Glad you are okay man.
ATC guys to the rescue!!! love those three wheelers
And don't worry iv'e cased a few, but none this big though..... You learn over time what to look out for.
Damn that must have sucked. got up pretty quick though. same thing happened to my friend at oceano dunes at the first drop off. What makes my friend stupid though is that he knows that drop off is there lol
Damn, i feel for you man. I about shit myself watching you fall.
We all have those days. Sucks. Glad hes okay.
Damn that hurt me! Hope you were ok!
Looked like that was almost on purpose.. lol. Rides next to the ledge, turns around, and rides right off it. :D
That's the scary thing about the desert. It all looks straight but there is actually a 30ft drop off right infront of you
Been there. Done that.
I only ride when there are shadows because of it. So from like 11-1 I’m napping at camp
Ouch, almost been there myself. Glad it was not worse.
daaaaaammmmm dat sux ... i love how ATC's came to the rescue!.. poor dude
Nice Honda three wheelers
That was a pretty good drop, OUCH!!
That look like that one hurt I'm surprised he got up that quickly Did he damage himself or the machine more?
He circled around looking at it. Then goes for it right over the edge. From the start I can clearly see that spot in his vision unless he was looking at his buddies
was this for Memorial Weekend? It was rough out there... it was hard to see cuz of the wind. where do you park? maybe we can head out together someday. :)
You took it Well... That looked like a hard lick
05 trx 450? thats one hell of a drop!
that guy is insane i can't believe he got up like nothin was wrong i woulda been down and out
Same thing happened to me in pismo at a faster speed and bigger drop. Dislocated my left leg from my hip and landed 45 feet from the top of the drop. Worst injury to this day. But we all know the risks.
OUCH.... glad he's OK.
And that's why you don't get cocky in the dunes.
My friend is a magnet to these last time he broke his collar bone and was out for a while
hahaha! What did you think was going to happen there? Do you usually jump off faces and land it???
how do those sand geko paddles work?
That was REALLY bad crash there senor.
The dunes are so wierd you like cant tell if your going off a hill or not, when its foggy its really dangerous.
imperial sand dunes, so cal?
damn thats gotta suck i can only imagine the impact when it bent the handle bars that low.
up here in oregon we call the rzr backs
is the quad ok?
OMGOSH!!!! Is the quad ok?????
He probably couldn't tell it was a drop off. It looked like it went flat until he went off the lip.
poor bastard ended up UNDER his quad!! knarly crash bro
this is surely the pot calling the kettle black...but he just rode by the edge and looked right at it...circled around and drove off the cliff. Short term memory loss? Glad he was okay though, I would have shat for sure.
He probably didn't see the drop off. Something similar happened to me once and after that I started using goggles with colored lenses. It helps you see a little better
he got lucky. this happened to me once, also around mid-day. Broke my jaw/chin and wrist...why i hate leading in groups lol
THAT WOULD SUCK HOPE YOUR OK MAN
fuck! same shit happened to me, but in Dumont...fukin razor backs. makes for a great story!
did anything happen to your 450?
He probably didnt see it everything starts looking the same and blends in.
"You wanna lay down?" "Yeah" oh man that sucks I've been there but look at the bright side you got it on film that's all that matters haha
Classic case of not expecting a massive drop.
i did the same thing at dumont. got a concussion and a broken collar bone
been there done that. glad your OK
i went off an 8 footer on a 250 blaster doing about 30-35, stayed on but almost went over the handle bars
damn your supposed to land on the quad not the quad landing on you. Man that must have sucked. Way to be a man about it though must of hurt like hell.
i hat riding at the dunes..every time i go with my banshee or my cr250r i always fall into one of those holes..lol
LMAO, how does that happen ?!😂 you saw the drop when in the very beginning on your left lmao. Wow😂
Chris Elias you're stupid you must have never ridden before
this desert makes illusions..
Ive done that too...pain....
That almost happened to me I hit the throttle as soon as I seen the drop and I landed on all 4s at least all those people were around.
That sucks lol when you go off give it some gas to bring the front up then that wont happen
@LostGoatRacing heck ya!!! almost did the same thing on my 300ex out a gordons well at halloween. was going 4th gear full throttle next thing i know i was trying to regain controll and figure out what happened.lol
Yeah!!!! The trikes to the rescue!!!!

The hazards of dunes.....drop offs.
