That hat looks familiar. With it on, your Chesapeake Edd Boy 😂. I tell people, you can catch fish with an inexpensive rod, but it may not be as comfortable. I think heavier mono casts noisier. It got the job done.I prefer shorter rods in my kayak
Haha yeah my wife got me the hat so I had to wear it haha. And I definitely agree, you don’t need expensive gear to catch fish. Most of my gear is bought at Walmart.
Looks like you need to be at home in bed recovering. I have the Grit Stick, and it doesn't make that rattling sound when I cast. I love it and fish with all the time. Look at 'you' catching decent size fish on a 'cheap' piece of kit. You see these You tube videos of these Guys with the most expensive rods & reels, the gear you use doesn't mean you are going to catch more fish, it is just a waste of money. Branding doesn't make you a better Angler. I just use 10LB backing & 10LB Braid on all my fishing gear, of course I am not in Florida were you need to go for heavy sea fishing rigs, I am in Minnesota the State of 10,000 Lakes. I find it strange that you thought a longer rod would be better? I too have a fishing Kayak, and hey! you are 'out-there' you don' need to cast like you are bank/shore fishing. I am British and grew up in England for 40 years, and we had rods of 30 feet (or more) for freshwater fishing, allowing you to cast out vast distances from the bank/shore into the Lake. Check out some UK fishing suppliers and you will see some amazing rods, some just designed for certain Rivers like the Salmon River Spey in Scotland, which was the birth of Spey casting.
I bought this exact combo
No issues with it
Caught plenty of fish with it

Not bad it definitely seems a little loud but the fish don’t seem to mind
Haha yeah they didn’t seem to even notice.
