  • Spring Fishing is here! Perfect timing to test out this new Telescope budget combo from Walmart. Ozartrail is Walmart's brand and for 20$ this peaked my interest not only for maybe a beginner getting into the sport but also for portability sake. Let's take a look and see what 20$ can bring you on the water!
    Here is the Walmart combo from in store:

    My buddy bought one and put on the new OTX 3000 spinning reel and now that’s the only combo he keeps in his car.

    Pretty cool review. Used to have a couple telescopic rods for backpacking about 20 years ago, and I’ve been thinking about getting another one to keep in the truck. You know, for fishing emergencies.

    You could probably reel in a 5-6-7 pound catfish on there if you're careful

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  2 года назад

      Absolutely don’t doubt that at all. Works pretty well for the price! I still use it as a back up and always have it in the truck

    You think it would work for steelhead? I would love a solid telescopic rod to make carrying multiple rod setups simpler.

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  2 года назад +1

      Great question! To be honest you probably could land a steelhead on one but I would not try it just due to how cheap the components are. I have been looking at a few higher end telescope rods that I’m looking to do a video on

    How many times have you used that combo and how has it held up??

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  Год назад +2

      I have been making it a point to have with me each trip to really test it. Been fished with at least a dozen times and held up better than I thought it would. Caught a dozen stocker trout catch and release just the other day. The only thing I’d say is the telescope connections get a little loose but over all the small mouth, trout and a largie have all held up. I’m definitely going to test it to the max on pink salmon this fall

      @timothyscott3116 Год назад +1

      So far so good! Have caught the smallmouth, couple trout and a largemouth without any issues at this point. Definitely have got it’s money’s worth on it
