This random little indie game made by one guy that came out of nowhere in 2004 has NO right to have this addicting of a theme song. It's awesome. I love it. Definitely planning on playing this soon. Edit: Oh hey I forgot I made this comment, anyway got it, beat it, loved every second of it, totally recommend it
I swear, this game evoked a more emotional response from me than any game I've ever played. Really kind of puts most of the big budget games to shame when you realize an indie game written by one person somehow outdoes the storytelling of 90% of the games on the market.
it’s a shame too because they have the potential to eclipse Cave Story and many high quality indies. Majoras Mask is an example from 4 years before Cave Story.
I really really like this song, but there's something it's trying to say to me that I can't quite pick out. It might be something like "we have a story to tell you and you're gonna have a lot of fun hearing it". Something about it being the first thing you hear when you launch the game and those dark rolling clouds set against the moon is really compelling to me and gets me excited to come back to this game again and again. Underrated gem of a videogame.
Cave story for being 14 years old (if I remember correctly) is still horribly underrated even the gamegrumps couldn't get their gameplay past 1 million views on their individual videos on it.
I never played this game, But I know this song from a long time ago. I've heard it recently, and asked the person who was playing it what it was, They told me it was Cave Story. I've looked at my mom's Steam Library and she has it. Might be the solution to the mystery
This is the reason why i now support Indie gamers rather than corporations like EA. Graphics mean nothing these days. Its all about gameplay. Screw photogenic graphics.
I randomly decided to come back here today only to discover that I commented on this video already and there's actually somewhat recent replies. Interesting. I'm still hoping for Pixel to change his mind though.
+CluckNuggets It's Christmas morning where I am. One of them showered me with gifts and joy, and the other was Christmas. Cave Story theme song > Christmas
If you follow Daisuke's work closely, he only showed these cutscenes when it was either essential to the story, or when the player needed a hint to know where to go. We don't know how long you were unconscious, and that wasn't actually goodbye. If you have gotten the best ending, you would know she isn't actually dead, and that's the point. The player is meant to QUESTION if she is dead or not. That scene changes depending if you have or have not played the game before (continued)
Cave Story... Undertale... can we just get these heartfelt spelunking themed games all the time? NOTE: For those tired of hearing about Undertale such an event would likely decrease fandom ferocity too.
This. This is what sparked my love with electronic music as a kid. Since then, It has grown a bunch and now I actually make my own music. All because this game had this amazing soundtrack. It's kinda nostalgic in a way.
The last part is actually a good one- you can set up any of the "_loop" tracks for an infinite loop, and the repeat would be imperceptible. I find Winamp to be best at looping the files with little to no delay.
Oh, I never liked the "New" versions of the soundtrack from Nintendo, but I kind of like this one.. It really sounds like the original, just more electric piano-y and synth-y and less 8-bit. So
***** First of all, this comment was originally made over two years ago. Second of all, this isn't the original soundtrack. I didn't say that "new soundtracks from Nintendo are 8-bit", I said that this sounded _less_ 8-bit. I realize two years later that it's not from Nintendo, but it was the fact that this version of the soundtrack seemed similar to the version for Wii that threw me. Third of all, I can comment whatever the fuck I want.
