@@angrypicture6155 When I eventually beat this fight, I used a strategy called "cycle through every weapon all at once" I just literally used every weapon switching between all my arms while dodging the core's attacks. For some reason, after a few more attempts, it worked. Hopefully it works for you too bro. GL
@@ClayDoh I actually did it yesterday. The strategy involved switching to the level 2 blade to defend and using the polar star to attack. And curly. I feel like this fight gets close to impossible if curly just doesn't feel like shooting. But it's over now. Holy shit it is over now.

The Level 3 Blade almost seems like its designed for hard mode. If one is damaged onece the Level 3 Blade is lost, however in hard mode basically getting any damage means death, so one is going to keep the blade level 3 regardless. While its spamable damage output isn't as good as the level 2 Blade, the area effect is a good defensive tool in hard mode since it essentially gives one a defensive barrier of sword slashes protecting one from multi angel projectiles & hordes of small enemies.
I never thought about using Level 3 Blade with Ballos' final phase but it makes total sense since it has that huge AOE effect to deal with both the angel swarms and getting through the orbs

@@chrixtophrwallen4227 ehh, there’s no difference to the main story. if you played the original you aren’t missing much. cave story+ just adds extra options like easy and hard difficulties, 2 player local co-op, a boss rush, specially designed time attack levels (with their own leaderboards), the option to switch between OG graphics or WiiWare graphics, and the option to choose soundtrack styles (OG, WiiWare, Famitracker, Ridiculon) and its all in widescreen HD. also, CS+ doesn’t include the original content added in CS3D, so that stuff is essentially gone forever, oddly. all of it is fluff, nothing actually substantial, but if you’re looking to get more cave story content, it’s not bad
I remember this game so well, Monster X was the boss that caused me the most trouble of them all, even more than the 3/4 consecutive battles at the end... It was the 1st one in which I died... It looks so easy when he does it thou.
I finally defeated Ballos only yesterday after playing this game for months, and I thought that by itself was an accomplishment. Meanwhile you're here, fighting and winning against everyone on hard mode without losing any damage (and without using the missile launcher ONCE). God damn, dude xD
similar situation so over the course of around 6 hours with many long breaks within that time i defeated misery doctor muscle doctor then died on undead core but then i troed again and got it mind you first time i had battled with said bosses in a while and then after showing my friends blood stained sanctuary beginning very beginning then showing them that the floor literally kills you i literally first tried the whole thing ballos and all edit also just got the steam achievement for good ending etc
In normal mode, you have, at best, 55 health and one Life Pot to beat the Heavy Press and all of Ballos' forms, and if you die, you need to go through the Bloodstained Santuary/Hell all over again. In Hard Mode, you have 8 health, so a hit from almost anything will kill you anyway.

Cave Story+ did not release this year, the hell you talking son? The wii version came before the Steam version and they based CS+ from the wii version. After that, CaveStory3D released for the 3ds and a year ago, cave story+ for the switch released.
I never knew you could get hearts between the doctor and undead core. I've always just play through the bosses with the health I had left. Welp, if I ever need it, now I know.
I think the reason Ballos is such a frustrating boss is that whenever he kills you, you have to pass the WHOLE LEVEL AGAIN in order to get to him one more time... I swear, it wouldn't be nearly as frustration if they had put a save point right before the boss, AS EVERY SANE GAME DESIGNER DO... Yeah, I've defeated the bastard, but at the end, I was just screaming at the screen !
I'm so used to see the final phase of Ballos getting wrecked in a few seconds that I never got to appreciate the way he looks. That's a terrifying visual.

Well, DM Dokuro (Composer of most Post-Moon Lord boss themes) promised to capture the same feel when he did the official DoG theme, so you're not the only one. He even made a version using original Cave Story sounds!

I haven't played Hard mode, but I know the Sisters only spawn if you take the chest, which contain a missile expansion. Since you can't use missiles in Hard mode it's possible they couldn't open the chest so wouldn't be able to fight them on hard mode.
On the 3DS version, due to a programming error or something, I don't know, you can fight The Sisters and G-CLONE on Hard by selecting a Hard file, returning to the title screen, and choosing Wind Fortress or Boss Rush.
so is the music and sound design MEANT to sound like Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door? It REALLY sounds like it was inspired by it. The Balrog theme is 100% the theme for the Shadow Sirens and the chest opening theme is even the same!
The original cave story came out the same year as paper mario ttyd? and most of the music was composed before ttyd was released (beta soundtrack is on youtube) This is a remake with a remade soundtrack, but its very faithful to the originals OST.
By the way, there IS a way to do G-CLONE on Hard, you just need to select a hard mode save, exit ,and then enter Wind Fortress(this also applies to all of the other Challenges.)

When you're playing on hard mode that kinda goes without saying tbh
there are some attacks or environmental hazards that won't one shot you, take the red crystal in the Doctor's 2nd phase, it only deals 1 hp of dmg
im pretty sure that hard mode quote is just a human who found the island randomly, passed out, found a sweet hat, and kept dying over and over again

You actually have to get through it with 3 HP for one of the achievements, and I completed it, it's really not that hard.

All I got from this is that King’s Blade is so powerful, that even in the hands of a mimiga, it can kick Balrog’s ass.

Well, DM Dokuro (Composer of most Post-Moon Lord boss themes) promised to capture the same feel when he did the official DoG theme, so you're not the only one.
He even made a version using original Cave Story sounds!

In my opinion, Igor is probably the most hardest boss fight I ever encounter during my playthrough, not even Ballos come close
Why you had a normal Quote skin (normal mode) during The Sisters fight?
I haven't played Hard mode, but I know the Sisters only spawn if you take the chest, which contain a missile expansion. Since you can't use missiles in Hard mode it's possible they couldn't open the chest so wouldn't be able to fight them on hard mode.

On the 3DS version, due to a programming error or something, I don't know, you can fight The Sisters and G-CLONE on Hard by selecting a Hard file, returning to the title screen, and choosing Wind Fortress or Boss Rush.

so is the music and sound design MEANT to sound like Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door? It REALLY sounds like it was inspired by it. The Balrog theme is 100% the theme for the Shadow Sirens and the chest opening theme is even the same!
The original cave story came out the same year as paper mario ttyd? and most of the music was composed before ttyd was released (beta soundtrack is on youtube)
This is a remake with a remade soundtrack, but its very faithful to the originals OST.

By the way, there IS a way to do G-CLONE on Hard, you just need to select a hard mode save, exit ,and then enter Wind Fortress(this also applies to all of the other Challenges.)
