    Firstly, great channel and comparison. I owned and sold the M1 (17) and M4. They were both 10.5 in reg. The M1 weight adjustment messed with my mind as did the silver shape on the M4 as I never liked it at address. I now use the Ping G400 9.0 in stiff flex as my swing has improved (104mph). I love experimenting at the range using launch monitor data. I keep watching ebay for a SIM or TS3. Being a lefty I dont get the range to try but like the fact that titliest use the same hozel making shaft options availability easier. SIM is still a bit exsy so may go M6.
    Thanks again from Sydney...

    Some ppl miss the point that manu's arent expecting amateurs to upgrade every year but when you do want to be on the list, even if a pre owned. I love trying new clubs, partic drivers and putters. Harder with irons due to gaping to mix, could have 2 7i with 4deg diff...as I have Apex and WS V6s...Apex more forgiving and V6 tighter gaping..

    I tried the Mavrik driver on Friday against my 4 year old Epic and saw precious little difference although the Mavrik was a bit more forgiving. So I was not really expecting much difference between the 4 TM drivers.
    The actual results are interesting, if we accept that Thomas was pulling the Sim a little which should have dropped the spin rate a little and increased carry distance a little, then it is likely on an identical swing basis the Sim was probably 8 yards longer and 300-400 rpm less spin than the M1. That is a surprisingly decent improvement - if you can cope with the lower spin.
    The other take away is that with the right shaft you might be able to get the spin rate down on the M1 and make it perform in a very similar fashion to the Sim. Of course you might also get better results with a different shaft with the Sim as well!

    • @2ndswing
      @2ndswing  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for the comment! You're right about the shaft -- that's another way to tune a club for your swing. For these tests we purely want to test the heads against one another. Over the past several months, we've noticed the SIM family has been pretty low spinning so we were especially curious about that. Thomas did get the ball to turn over a bit, which did help with the decreased spin, but I think you're right that about 300-400 RPM lower is accurate.

    It is really apple to apple drivers test-comparison with trackman.
    M5 has the tightest dispersion.
    SIM has best combination of low spin dan high launch.

    • @2ndswing
      @2ndswing  4 года назад

      That's an important point you've raised. All the weights for this test were in the standard positions. Of course, SIM doesn't have a front-to-back adjustable weight so we would only be able to make that adjustment with M1, M3, M5.

    • @2ndswing

    • @2ndswing
      @2ndswing  4 года назад +1

      Hi Jamie, thank you for watching and commenting! We had all weights in the standard positions. The SIM weight was in the standard position (not fade or draw biased). The weights in the M1, M3, and M5 were all in standard to not have bias toward a fade/draw or a high/low launch.

    • @jamiepreacher4978
      @jamiepreacher4978 4 года назад

      2nd Swing Golf so it is possible to get the other heads to spin the same. The CG of those heads are all different so setting them up in the standard setting does not mean their CG is the same. It’s not as simple as that.

    • @2ndswing
      @2ndswing  4 года назад +1

      @@jamiepreacher4978 You're right, adjustments could be made to each head to bring the spin closer together. For these tests, we like to measure the performance in standard settings to get the most unbiased test of the clubhead's performance. We are testing the clubhead's against one another understanding that the CG locations are different. Manufacturers will purposefully manipulate the center of gravity to improve performance.

  • @davidbaker2778
    @davidbaker2778 3 года назад +1

    No offense but not utilizing the low and high spin slide on the M1 is giving it a raw deal. Then using a shaft intended for the SIM. The spin numbers were the only real difference. You can hit whatever spin numbers you want. That’s where the exact same shaft isn’t necessarily “fair.” Maybe a lower spinning shaft is what the M1 and 3 needed but would have been too low with the other two. Fit yourself optimally in all realms with each head and do your comparison. There won’t be a penny worth of difference in the four.
