    The other way to put "not as dynamic as a 5 series and not as comfortable as an E series" is “more comfortable than a 5 series and more dynamic than an E series".
    Audi never aimed to be on either ends, instead they always tried to hit the sweet spot between the two. Balance is the keyword here

      No it's not? And Audi is aimed for practicality, that's their strongest side, and they sure do a better job on that.

      This comment is 6 years too late but I would totally reject the reveiwers opinion the car has a poor chassis for handling. It's chasdis setup is superb, supports the Quattro and feels beautifully planted in hard cornering. I dispute the steering wheel feel of BMW's 5 series first version of electric steering is better than the Audi's hydraulic. They are about the same with the Audi having better off-centre, and no dead spot on centre like the BMW's electric steering back then. The 5 series weighs about 400kgs more than the Audi too, so it's luggier off the line with all the lard. I would allow the 5 series is nicer handling with the traditional oversteer characteristic of RWD. I would agree the equiv. Merc has the best plush ride of the three for pleasant normal use. I also agree the added extra costs were bonkers, and now even a Toyota Carolla has lane assist and no extra charge.

    I am an audi fan, my dad has the a6, a friend of mine the 5 series which I have driven. I find that nothing compares to the 5series. For some reason its smooth and just amazing. The audi is a bit rougher but I do find it cooler for some reason! The design is definitely better.

    gotta tell you... this was probably the best review made by the web series ever! Well done mate! The first time not only the mpg and the driving feel was properly test also the economics of the price you have to pay for the extras! Great stuff ^^

  • @MaestroPregadio
    @MaestroPregadio 12 лет назад +4

    I've driven this car and the handling seemed quite good to me (certainly better than the Merc).. And to be honest, you should say that the cost of extras is a problem of german cars in general, not only of Audis

  • @jezzacolognes

    I agree. An A8 would have most of these optional feature for the A6 as standard.

    Guy at work has one on a 64 i have the b9 a4 my doors thunk far better/bassier than his. I was surprised how light the doors were on his one compared to my previous jag xe which was shoddily made. Also when my mate was looking at a new car i mooched around the dealers in burton and sat in various cars. This and the f generation of 5 feel equally as opulent to me and i sat in one after another. The doors on that felt really solid.

    I'm waiting for the S6. I can't wait, For the moment though I love this car. That interior is hard to beat!!! As to ride quality for the Standard A6 , he is basically saying Its not as soft as the Merc and not as hard as the BMW. Simple! Its down to personal taste. The A6 has beaten the BMW 5 and The Merc E in road tests which are posted all over youtube. A6 is a winner!

    The Mercedes is not better to drive.
    Mercedes E-Class: Best comfort
    BMW 5-Series: Best to drive.
    Audi A6: Best balance of both.

    @TheEryk03 (Sorry about the english thing then, dont take it personally)
    -It does have a head up display.
    -Mercedes was the first manfacturer to ever put completely full LED headlamps on a car.
    -Mercedes developed adaptive cruise control with stop and go (Also known as radar guided cruise control)
    -Side assist, lane assist and most of the safety features were developed by Mercedes or Volvo.
    -Sound proof windows was available in the old variation of the S-Class (Includes double glazed windows)

    I think the reason they can get away with charging so much for optional extras is because when you compare it to the price of the actual car, it seems like nothing but looking at it as day-today money, it costs a fortune

    @garoiscool True, you are practically the only person I have had a proper argument with on RUclips.
    If you chose it due to the look and you love Audi, be sure to save up for an R8.
    This might surprise you, but I actually use an Audi R8, however I have recently sold it because I just purchased an SLS. I also recently bought the new CLS, I thought it was just beautiful, and I had the old one. My wife bought an Evoque and I have to say its great. We share all the cars apart from the R8 / SLS.

    As much as I love the quality of the A6, for me it doesn't have the same road presence as the latest 5 Series, XF or E-Class. There's no doubting the legendary interior quality but, even here, BMW have made significant progress with the latest 5 and I think the facelifted XF is on a par, plus I think it looks far more luxurious and distinctive.

    @Noobiewankenoobie i can certainly understand and agree with you. It does annoy me that the US gets cars so cheap compared to the rest of the world. Sadly theres not much we can do about that! At the end of the day the new Audi A6 is a beautiful car and very well designed! I am looking forward to my new A6 arriving in my garage!

    @TheEryk03 You're still wrong. Assuming that the technology in the cars is part of the equipment, I will say this. Mercedes is known as the manufacturer (Among few others) that is at the forefront of technology and safety. For example, ESP and ABS were all technologies first implemented on Mercedes vehicles.

    @hunker8 yeah but for what it's worth you can buy the car for about 60k all in, tax included, if you don't slap all the optional extras on... And the extras are exactly what they sound like, EXTRA.. The base price of the car itself is what you should consider when comparing a vehicle to a competitor vehicle,. Only standard equipment really counts in my asessment of the vehicles worth. To be honest, navigation and a self parking mechanism + sensors and audio etc will double the base cost

But agree the added extra costs were bonkers, and now even a Toyota Carolla has lane assist and no extra charge.

    @baujahr90er but there is something i like to add, the most best reliability test might be when every brand put they car on the line, lets say mid size sedan( A4, 3series, c class, avensis, insignia, mondeo, 408, accord, mazda 6 etc.) and drive a littel realibility race 500'000km true dirt, snow, desret, heat, rain, mad, -30 C, etc. but this race not will be about who first finish the race, but about who spend less money on repairing the car and who spend lest time in garage.....

    -Mercedes have their own satnav system (COMAND) which is really good and actually shows the pictures of the location your in, like street view - all the time.
    Mercedes is KNOWN for its forefront measures in technology and safety and for the luxury and comfort it provides. BMW is known for its sportyness in the luxury segment.
    Audi is known for its ARRIVAL against the two brands.

    @jerbele because it is a review for the euro market, where PETROL is not the most popular option. This is because europeans care about their emissions. Diesel is the most popular fuel choice in europe, so really, it is the most appropriate car to review.

    @Noobiewankenoobie not sure which country you are from but in australia we pay an absolute fortune for these car. I just placed an order for an A6 3.0TDI, and paid $140,000 AUD for this car. The only saving grace is alot of these options that other countries have to pay through the nose for, Audi Australia has kindly included as standard the only thing that isnt is the fancy B&O the advanced parking and radar cruise control.. everything else is pretty much standard!!! still expensive tho!

  • @8150shaf
    @8150shaf 12 лет назад

    @garoiscool Also, Audi does not in any way set the barrier for interior design. The S-Class's interior is so good it actually reduces the speed of the beating heart, that's how soothing it is. If you were to list the technologies Mercedes have brought to the car industry, including the little ones that you have thought of, it would beat this list hands down.
    Also, out of interest, what car/cars do you drive?

  • @jrcsh
    @jrcsh 12 лет назад

    @8150shaf haha, you're right, audi just invented this trend of the led rope light look on the front of cars. way to go audi... like so many things, it was cool at one point, now it's so common it's not really all the cool any more.

  • @8150shaf
    @8150shaf 12 лет назад

    @FIDTRO The WiFi hotspot feature was available in the S-Class first. Don't bullshit me. The S-Class was also the first to feature TV reception in the car. Handwriting in a car? My friend drives an Audi and NEVER uses that.
    And anyway, what is your argument worth when Mercedes is selling more than Audi?
    Mercedes is known as the inventor is the modern automobile. Mercedes is also known for it's forefront in car technology.

  • @8150shaf
    @8150shaf 12 лет назад

    @TheEryk03 I don't think there is any point telling you because, look at it this way. The A6 is a new complete redesign, whereas the current S Class has been here more more than 2 years now (Current baseline).
    Also, you are the one who claimed that the A6 is better 'equipped'. What does the A6 have that the S Class doesn't?
    P.S. What car do you drive?

  • @jerbele
    @jerbele 13 лет назад

    @drakesmh I understand and know what you're saying but like I said new hot A6 comes out and they don't review the fastest one? I've got no problem with diesel cars and know they have just as many or more diesel engines in most all lines of Audi's as they do gasoline ones along with most all other manufacturers. Just save the diesel review for a few months down the road for a Bimmer 535d comparo or the E class. They used to rarely ever review the diesel ones on old Top Gear's or Fifth Gear's.

    @hunker8 and if you really think about it for a second, the systems themselves are so complex yet SO un necessary that you should expect most buyers will opt to leave them out of the end-purchase... I , for instance, would only add the ridiculously expensive premium audio system to the base car and that would suit me just fine. And if I was on a budget, I could even leave the bang and olufson out of the picture... You can buy an A6 for about 48 thousand pounds if you don't buy in to their B.S...

  • @8150shaf
    @8150shaf 12 лет назад

    @TheEryk03 No it isn't. Let me explain.
    The S Class and 7 Series have much longer bases than the A6 and is designed partially for the owner to be driven in whereas the A6 is designed for the owner to drive it, and carry a family as well.
    If the Audi A6 was eligible to compete against the 7 and S they wouldn't make an A8 in first place. Yet they have, to match the standards of the other two cars. Standards that aren't accomplished with the A6.

    Of course they're going to use cheaper parts. Every car manufacturer has started using cheaper parts and sharing parts across different cars to save money, not just VAG. They don't feel cheap at all. 'plastic interiors', soft plastic is used in many cars, not just Audis and Volkswagens. The Passat was never a brilliant car, but it's excellent for people who have financial trouble. I personally have a 2012 A8 and I love it. There's nothing that reminds me of VW inside or out.

    You cannot compare an A4 whit a Passat. I had an Audi A4 and a BMW 3 series, Audi nice interior and very comfortable, very high-tech, smelled nice, the 3 series drives very fun, you can feel the ultimate driving machine, but the interior was not quality and high tech, it was fun only on twisted roads but in the city, really rough to drive. So in my opinion Audi is something between Merc and BMW.

    Lies! Almost every review out there assumes that "It's not as dynamic as 5-series", that's not actually the case this time. When compared directly, the 5-series has so much body roll that it makes you believe the suspension is made out of butter. The new A6 simply outhandles and outcorners it BIG time!

    @garoiscool Woah Autoblog is a great website! I cant find it, but thanks for showing me the website anyway. And with the argument, we could keep going on forever and won't come to a solution. I like Audi but personally I prefer the more elegant oriented design of Mercedes compared to Audis simple design movement.
    Great! A4s are part of the Audi range I love, specially white ones with the LED lights and those beautiful Audi rims. Do you need a family car? Because I have to say the R8 is great.

    Audi A6 may be beautiful but it's pretty costy as mentioned and they're not worth spending on because for me, the ride quality is the main thing i'm looking for and it is not as good as the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class

    @SickK8GSXR600 That's a 105,000 in US dollars. All cars are more expensive in the UK.
