What a horrible loss to have him go at his age, he must be one of the most talented actors of his generation and I wish we got to see more of his top tier screen presence.
Narcisse was a snake. He poisoned his own community with drugs while pretending to be "civilized" whereas Chalky DID actually care about Black folks. Saddly, he let his emotions, ego and lust over a club girl be his downfall. Nuck even tries to point out that he has a wife and kids at home, but Chalky didn't heed this advice. Chalky may have been a criminal and a stone cold killer, but in is own way he was also a fair, loyal and decent man. Never a liar. He was always out there to help out his own people. Dr. Narcisse was the exact opposite. He pretended to be everything that Chalky actually was but in reality he was nothing but a lying snake and had zero problems exploiting his own people just to get what he wanted. Great video man.

Chalky was to boardwalk empire, exactly what Omar was to the wire. Even his short appearance on the sopranos highlights how good he plays the intelligent bad-ass with a heart of gold. You see his scar, hear him talk, and think "look at this ghetto P.O.S". Two episodes later, he's you're favorite character.
Chalky was a great character and one of my favorites. His ending was just not good, not only because I wanted better to happen, but it was written so poorly that I didn’t believe it. Chalky would never give up what he did for a deal he knew was fake.
Nucky had to adapt to the times. Beyond their bubble of "art of conversation" and old world loyalty was a depraved world of crime full of adversaries who take more and more risk than he was used to. first off this is a fantastic video, edited great as well i love this show so much so seeing someone finally make a breakdown of these fantastic characters is amazing!
Out of the entire six season, with all the copious acts of gratuitous violence, countless murders, mamings and the deaths of characters that you'd gotten to know, one of standout tragic deaths of the show was Chalky's daughter. Not because she was popular character, she wasn't fleshed out enough for that to happen, but it was the implications of her accidental killing. The two obvious ones was Richard's end and the almost complete destruction of Chalky's life. Beyond that it had a significant ripple effect for the other powerful characters. That doesn't even get to Shakespearean tragedy of it all. A young girl, just starting on her way to life cut down by a bullet that might as well have been fired by her father. The father, meaning to take out his nemesis who was trying to take what was his, but ended up killing his daughter and hastening his own loss. And it was a sad irony that Richard had been the one that fired the bullet. We know that the killing of Angela Darmody was something that affected him greatly. Beyond the fact that they were friends and he liked her, she was an innocent. Both were Innocents that were connected to one of his very few friends; Jimmy with Angela and this girl and Chalky(i can't remember his daughters name). Everything about it was lamentable.
“Cut down by a bullet that might as well have been fired by her father” That’s deep man, and big facts. His daughter’s name was Maybelle. Thank you for watching and providing the dope feedback
*@Loud* Thank you for your videos, they’re phenomenal! *Boardwalk* *Empire* content is always welcomed. This show is fantastic, the era was perfectly executed, the characters were all well written. Overall, this show was simply *AMAZING!* In all honesty, I truly wish it was a tad bit longer… that’s how much I loved it. The Sopranos, The Wire, The Boys, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and of course Boardwalk Empire, all have a special place in my heart.
Chalky chastised Purnsly by saying "All this for a little jelly?!?" When he messed up and killed that guy, but then Chalky pretty much did the same thing and ended up the same way.
Chalky goin out with his whole world in shambles was tough to watch. Fantastic cinema. Every few years I rewatch Boardwalk Empire but it hits harder on chalkys death scene because Micheal Williams is actually deceased now. Rip to Micheal Williams. An amazing and complex man he was 🙏
One of the best characters in the show hands DOWN. And how they depicted the Black Community in the 20’s is just utterly amazing. Top 3 character in the show if not my favorite.
I loved Chalky White, season 4 he goes to the highest high only to lose everything; his money, his political status, his family (especially Maybell😢). I wanted to see him come back in season 5 and whip Dr. Narcisse.
I worked security on the set of Boardwalk Empire for the 3 seasons...& I became friends with some of the actors like Michael Shannon.. Michael Pitt..& Steve Buscemi Btw even tho Boardwalk Empire is set in Atlantic City & New Jersey in general..not ONE scene was shot in Jersey.. the majority of the scenes were shot in NYC..& the actual Boardwalk set with the hotels & store fronts was actually located in a former school bus depot a few blocks away from me in my neighborhood of Greenpoint Brooklyn.. which made it easy for me when i worked on set .. Btw the scene at Chalky's warehouse where the KKK hung one of Chalky's men..was actually filmed in an empty storefront in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn..& because we were filming a scene in the hood in Brooklyn where you have a body( mannequin) literally lynched hanging for 12 hours ..we thought that there MIGHT be a problem..so i had a couple extra guys that day just in case but there were no problems Ill leave you with one detail you might find interesting.. Martin Scorsese was the Executive Producer of Boardwalk Empire & he actually directed the pilot I remember watching Scorcese walking around the set at night with a P.A..( Production Assistant.. basically kids who run errands for the director)... with a flashlight Scorcese would point at the ground every few minutes & the P.A. would bend down & pick something up..i asked the P.A. later on WTF was going on..& he told me that Scorcese was a fanatic about every detail being perfect on his sets.. So him & the P.A. were checking to make sure that no cigarette butts with FILTERS were on the ground because FILTERED cigarettes didn't EXIST in the 1920s Anyways keep up the great work brother im loving the videos 👑
He told Nucky that he was running with a crew robbing banks and whatnot. Said they "left him ass in the wind.", and he had to do some time. This was said during that meeting when Nuck told him not to pursue Narcisse.
Chalky was far and away my favorite character on the show. His monologue with his daddy's tools and the KKK guy was actor Michael K. Williams' shining moment in the series. When I heard that he had died my heart ached....what a singular talent.
@@loudnclearvoiceovers4141 he didn't overplay it. it was a very measured performance. ..but that was his consistent approach to the character throughout the series, he played him in a subtle way, and when he did need to turn it up a notch, the contrast was noticeable. ..but that was deliberate and by design... he was a masterful actor.

Chalky lost a lot in his battle with Narcisse but Narcisse lost a lot himself in this war. He lost Daughter who he raised and was a star. And he lost respect for himself in season 4 he wanted to be addressed as doctor but in season 5 when Lucky asked he liked to be addressed he said "whatever you prefer" he didn't fight for his doctor title. Chalky had to rely on Nucky during these times a black man especially one with no education had no choice. Narcisse was educated and sneakier but one of his downfalls was he underestimated Chalky. Chalky didn't have a college education or a high school education but he had street smarts he was a better business man than Jimmy and Eli and sharp intuition to know a good deal when he saw one. When he went to Havre De Grace he took his mentor's advice and tried to start something of his own with Oscar's men but like Oscar told him they wasn't reliable and they left him during a robbery which is how he got locked up.
I hated Chalky's ending but i get why they did it. First, the main lesson in the show is that crime doesnt pay in the long run. Every character had karma come back to them in some shape or form. He was a community figure but also a serial murderer, so he had to pay for that. Also, he was such a powerful character they had to nerf him somehow . Being in love isnt rational, but a common weakness in men
For those that don't know, the reason Chalky drew down on Lanskey about his Packard is because on of Chalky's men was l***hed and tied off to Chalky's Packard.
