back in the 80s a lot of people thought us metal heads were crazy and that it was noise. But we really recognized the advanced musicianship of these bands and how incredible the vocals were for many of them. Metal guitarists really expanded as well from the standard pentatonic scale used in most rock up until them, using various scale modes to giving us classical music sounds and complexity. Loud metal also required vocalists that could really soar above the music.

I remember those days. Sometimes I miss how misunderstood heavier music was by the masses back in the day, how I got to enjoy it just with the few others who could see beyond contemporary prejudices, but sometimes I enjoy how everyone these days can see the beauty in it. I have mixed feelings, you could say. To this day, though, I still listen to plenty of music that is beyond most people's tolerances, and it still brings a juvenile big smile to my old face when I see people's reactions to some of the skramz and grindcore I love. But even when it's too much for people, they still understand that it is music with its own merits, unlike the Satanic Madness people used to associate it with. It's good that people have improved, but it was also fun to freak out the squares back in the dark ages.

All of Scorpions' slows/ballads are written by rhythm guitar player and founding member Rudolf Schenker (the light-blond guy to the left ((on screen)) of singer Klaus Meine). Rudolf is the older brother of legendary guitar player Michael Schenker who played in Scorpions at age 15 and went to play with UFO at age 17. This video was recorded for German TV and has the studio audio.

I was in high school, and my older brother (my only sibling), on his first leave from the Army, Desert Storm era, and his first trip home after leaving, took me to my first concert, Great White & Mr. Big w/ Scorpions headlining. We were in the stands for the first two (guitar dual between Billy Sheehan and Paul Gilbert was insane), but my brother said, screw this, this isn't how you should experience your first concert, and told me to follow his lead just as the Scorpions were coming out. With two "guards" at floor level checking wrist bands, he pretended to hold out his arm to one of them then the same to the other, and went through to the floor with confidence. My introverted, law-following self, scared to death I'd get busted and probably thrown in jail, did the same and somehow made it through to the floor. I couldn't believe that worked! We ended up around 10 feet from the band and I (surprisingly) got to experience my first mosh pit. The band was flawless. Thankful AF.

I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it in 1984. So haunting. Glad to see you addressed it. I love watching your face as you're listening to good music. If I was 40 years younger I'd move next door to you and try to win your heart. This song came out right after I started writing my first novel which is a love story cleverly disguised as an adventure story. That song, in my head, became the theme song of the story I was writing. It took me 30 years to finish the novel (actually I wrote it in 5 years but kept working on it for another 25 became it became such a beloved hobby, and I so loved being "with" the characters in my imagination), and I would listen to that song over and over and over while working on the novel. Having watched many of your videos, I have developed a greater appreciate for the music I listen to because of how you break music and singing down.

The first time I ever heard this song, was when my family and I were in Minnesota and were driving through a cabin resort on a lake we used to go to all the time. It was run down, but this song was playing through the PA. It was so beautifully haunting to me and have loved this song ever since.

My favorite channel of this type, and the only one I regularly visit. You are a host that never makes the analysis about themselves _(themself, whichever),_ and you are a joy to watch. Being easy on the eyes doesn't hurt, either.

His vowel shaping is because he is German and his vowel sounds are heavily influenced by the roundness we use for Umlauts

I have watched reactions from many different vocal coaches and since many months now, yours are the only ones to which I return. For you, it is about the song, not about you.
The Scorpions were my favourite band of the 1980s and I finally got to see them live in 1988 and again in 1990 (and a few times since then).
When I go to see a band live, I always position myself in front of the lead guitarist. The only exception is when I go to see the Scorpions, when I position myself in front of Rudolf Schenker, rhythm guitarist and writer of all of Scorpion’s music, rather than in front of the lead guitarist, Matthias Jabs. Matthias is a good guy, but Rudolf is, well, Rudolf. The man. The main man of the Scorpions, and the man to whom Klaus Meine sets his lyrics.
As others have said, you should also listen to, and maybe react to Wind Of Change, Holiday, Send Me An Angel, In Trance, We’ll Burn The Sky, Edge Of Time…

I listen to all genres of music. The Scorpions are one of my favorite bands. Gobs of talent that many bands today simply don't have. Klaus is an incredible vocalist! And he still sounds great today! I have a couple of their live acoustic albums, which are phenomenal.

It's amazing to hear him sing live. And then hearing him speak, it's unreal how different the 2 are. His accent is so thick I cannot understand half of what he says while speaking. And then he sings in English, with such clarity. He'll forever be in my top 10 vocalist of all time.

Klaus and Rudolph's collaboration on this EPIC ballad is one of the best in Rock history. The voice and the guitar blend so beautifully while the power and range of Klaus vocals are called back to him from an equally dynamic guitarist.
Falling in and out of love never sounded better.

The instruments and the tightness with the voice from Klaus are stunning, they overlap them in a brilliant way. It creates an intimate sphere. That's why you still can play this song over and over again. Just brilliant. And he always sings barefoot, he told once that he feels grounded with performing barefoot. I've seen 3 concerts from them, and he still can hold that pitch. Stunning. I think this was recorded with Michael Schenker, he had his own band, The Michael Schenker Group, Into The Arena is a well known song.
