Also I loved your reaction to this, a great job.
Led Zeppelin is definitely one of the greatest rock bands ever. They exude such confidence in their performances. Thank you for your thoughtful analysis; I really enjoyed it!
At 58 yrs old ….Unbelievably as it sounds, I just discovered Led Zeppelin this week after stumbling upon a HEART song (Crazy on You). I decided to deep dive on Heart and found Led Zeppelin. I grew up in Philly so Hard Rock was never on the playlist except when my college roommate made me listen to Bon Jovi back in 88. LOL, I think I might have gotten to the Led Zeppelin party last, but I’ll stay to the end.
Led Zeppelin leaves everyone speechless in one way or another. That's because of only 4 guys and their expertise when playing together either in the studio and especially live.😊
When you view heart's version.you will see Robert turn to the side slightly. It's at that point he will finally see why people still hold this song so close to their hearts.
Never be another like Led Zeppelin. Robert Plants vocals are magnificent. Jon Paul Jones is a master of keys & bass. John Bonham is the god of thunder on the drums, & Jimmy Page is a level 100 wizard of guitar & songwriting. Mystical & magical.
Robert and Jimmy are fantastic no matter how you slice up the band. But the one who is oftentimes is left out is John Paul Jones who is playing the keyboards in this performance. Many do not realize that he is playing the base line on the keyboard peddles as he is normally the bassist. And in the song "Going to California", JPJ also plays the mandolin.
Great, great reaction and analysis. Robert's voice is an amazing instrument that added so much to th emusic. It was also the way he would innovate musical phrases and use the words to bring additional vocal phrasing into it as well that has always cptivated me about him. It seems you got this too and it was nice to feel that what I was in love with here, was sort of vindicated by you. And that felt good! Thank you and again a great. great reaction!

He pronounced it the American way and not his natural British way. As an Aussie, the American way of saying laughter grates on me. We pronounce it the same way as the Brits.
There is something about this whole performance that makes you feel like the gods of Stonehenge have come and performed a concert for us. They knew it was Madison Square Garden and they delivered.
I am from the generation that was hearing this in middle and high school for the first time. You have to understand how revolutionary this whole song, album and movie were. People had their favorite bands, except for Zeppelin, which most of us conceded would be our most desired concert ticket. Their reimagining of the blues, their forest imaginings, their road-trip anthems, lusty songs, hippy songs, boogie songs, reggae songs, hard rock songs, country songs. That movie, Song Remains the Same, was on midnight cinema screens for a decade, at least (either that or Rocky Horror). What a time.
I do rememebr those times back in South Africa in the period starting 1975, there was a cinema in Hillbrow, Johannesburg that had both of those movies on for months ... good times.
This song is such a memorable anthem because of the way it's built. It's a crescendo from beginning to end. Something about that clicks in our emotional center
One of the most interesting recordings of "Stairway" is on the Zeppelin album "BBC Sessions" . On the album , they are playing the song for the 1st time in front of an audience . The 4th album hadn't been released yet , so the audience had no idea of what they were witnessing / hearing . When the song was finished there is this momentary silence from the audience at that point where they are probably wondering "Are they finished ? " and then the applause breaks out as they realize they were in the midst of history . 🙂
That wasn’t actually their first performance of the song, that performance was the last of their first 1971 tour. The first time they played the song live was at Belfast, Northern Ireland 3/5/1971.
Please include the celebration day performance in this week’s list! You won’t be disappointed. So special for many reasons including the band members ages that day in 2007 as well as John Bonham’s son Jason playing on drums. Hell, that days performance of “No quarter” is my favorite version of the song. Keep em coming!
When you said this "takes you to a completely different land of mystery and magic", that's the JRR Tolkien influence on Robert Plant. He's always been very vocal that Tolkien's writing and The Lord of the Rings was a big driving force behind Led Zeppelin's songs. So much so that they have a few tracks named after places/events in TLR. Misty Mountain Hop is one you should def give a listen to! Love your vids, btw!
Please listen to That’s the Way, live from Earl’s Court 1975. I love Robert Plants voice and I think this performance really shows his talent. Would love to hear what you think!
The hand gestures are also telling. When Robert sings "you know sometimes words have two meanings" he holds up both hands with the middle and index fingers raised and turns his hands, palm facing forward, then the back of the hand facing forward. Of course, the two fingers indicate two meanings but the hand position also has two meanings. Palm forward is the "peace" sign, while the two fingers raised with the back of the hand facing forward in the UK means "get stuffed" or a more extreme sentiment. As for Jimmy's guitar prowess, it is of course stunning, made even more so with his effortless transition between the six string and the twelve string. Also this magical piece played live has no bass guitar, so Jon's drumming alone is the base and John Paul's keyboard work completes the spell.
VERY NICE MORNING INDEED!! 1973 at Madison Square Gardens. Most reactors don't know this is from the movie THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME from which I was lucky enough to see in the theater 🎭. Great movie and the best version for me! Thanks Bethany! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎

That is difficult to believe but if you say so.
Once upon a time, there was a band. Oh my god, what a band. They played a song, and that song played me.
- Goose bumps for sure, in many parts of the song. Led Zeppelin was the best.
I can't stop watching her and how deeply she's gets into it. I was there and still love them as i always did. She gets it.
Dear Vocalyst: Great song; great observations and analysis; and a sheer pleasure to listen to beautiful music reacted to by such a beautiful person.
He draws you into the song brilliantly. Just amazing and talented group. Legendary artist and band
Absolute pleasure to see the joy in your face
Led Zeppelin leaves everyone speechless in one way or another. That's because of only 4 guys and their expertise when playing together either in the studio and especially live.😊
When you view heart's version.you will see Robert turn to the side slightly. It's at that point he will finally see why people still hold this song so close to their hearts.
He got teary eyed, so emotional
The DNA resonance of certain singers...it's that resonance that touches the soul. It's what I felt when I saw Heart perform this song.
That Heart performance made me cry a little bit when I first saw it. Or at least get some tears.
Led Zepplin is all about talent and exploration. ❤
His performance at the Celebration Day at nigh on 60 is incredible.
Live Zeppelin is essential, something I can't do without. Power, mystery and the hammer of the Gods as Jimmy said - definitely.
Nice reaction! Best band ever!
When the Levee Breaks is a song of epic proportions. The Battle of Evermore with Sandy Denny duet on vocals is also spectacular.
After 65yrs I don't think I've ever heard a better song - and I still grab my air guitar. 😉
this one's my favorite song of all time, thank you for reaction. Led Zeppelin is just a brilliant group..
love to watch how you "feel" the forbidden riff. Amazing as usual, thank you.
My favorite song of all time !!! Thanks for the reaction !
Just wanted to say your hair is perfection. That style/color is enchanting.
You are the best vocal reactor. Love your insight and analysis. Great job.
i swear you have a 6th sense of pausing right when robert is right about to go off😆loved this!
*I LOVE Led Zeppelin!!!* And as I mentioned in Heart's cover-video of this song, I will be uploading four Led Zeppelin covers today...as well as four Fleetwood Mac covers...been busy singing a lot lately! Thanks so much for your excellent channel...💗💗💗
I love it every time you say “goosebumps “ ❤
This is the best reaction to this song your analysis is brilliant .
Love your reactions and your beautiful look.
One of the best ever. Bonus points on just watching the unadulterated joy on your face at the sound of music (and not just this video)...and then explain what makes it so good. It's why I subscribe and wait on every video to come out. Please keep doing what you're doing!
“Does anybody remember laughter?!”
That toss off line really lands to this day.
He pronounced it the American way and not his natural British way. As an Aussie, the American way of saying laughter grates on me. We pronounce it the same way as the Brits.
Led Zepplin is amazing! just blows me away.
There is something about this whole performance that makes you feel like the gods of Stonehenge have come and performed a concert for us. They knew it was Madison Square Garden and they delivered.
This wasn't MSG, it is Earls Square, I think?
@@lisapriebe7729 this was MSG 1973 from TSRTS movie. Earls Court was 75 and Jimmys hair was longer at Earls Court.
When Giants Walked the Earth ~ Led Zeppelin
I am from the generation that was hearing this in middle and high school for the first time. You have to understand how revolutionary this whole song, album and movie were. People had their favorite bands, except for Zeppelin, which most of us conceded would be our most desired concert ticket. Their reimagining of the blues, their forest imaginings, their road-trip anthems, lusty songs, hippy songs, boogie songs, reggae songs, hard rock songs, country songs. That movie, Song Remains the Same, was on midnight cinema screens for a decade, at least (either that or Rocky Horror). What a time.
I do rememebr those times back in South Africa in the period starting 1975, there was a cinema in Hillbrow, Johannesburg that had both of those movies on for months ... good times.
Great analysis, so many of us don't really appreciate the technicality of what appeared to us as just awesome rock n roll from these four legends.
Welcome to Led Zeppelin. They have many different genres of music for you explore and enjoy. Great reaction
Plant was 22 or 23 when he wrote these lyrics and sang STH for the first time. Amazing!!
They never could make this song sound nearly as good as its studio recording in concert.
Please include the celebration day performance in this week’s list! You won’t be disappointed. So special for many reasons including the band members ages that day in 2007 as well as John Bonham’s son Jason playing on drums. Hell, that days performance of “No quarter” is my favorite version of the song. Keep em coming!
That performance is great but it's lacking John Bonham. Jason is good but he's not his dad.
songs with Page's harmonica are epic. you shook me babe, when the levee breaks and 3 more songs.
I was in high school 9th or 10th grade. An amazing spmng that bring back so many memories.
So much of the great music from the 70s and 80s could take you to a different place, establish a mood, even in the first few notes.
👍 I saw them live in 1972. Something you remember forever!
“Dazed and Confused” live, plus “No Quarter” live also.
Great reaction and analysis, Bethany! I enjoyed your comments about Robert's voice.
Bobby Hatfield and Roy Orbison come to mind for staying relaxed throughout their vocal range
Good morning,i said One thing......Led Zeppelin where all started... thanx, have a nice day Bethany 💝...... ciaooooo from Taranto 🏄♂️⛱️☀️.. Italia 🇮🇹
Loved watching this , like your analysis
Wonderful analysis. Thank you.
Would love to see you react to "the battle of evermore" with Sandy Denny. The way Robert Plant and Sandy Denny's voices weave together is phenomenal!
You said it... magic. Great reaction. Thank you. 😊
JPJ played bass pedals on the keyboard (organ).
