Idk why this is getting some flak. Great pedals inspired by Hendrix. They've been done before? Cool. Tell that to the 13 year old kid who's getting his first fuzz and adores Hendrix. I don't mind these pedals being reissued in a sense because it keeps this shit alive. ROCKNROLLDUDE
I was surprised at how good and natural these sounded, and how well they play together. I think the cleaner sounds are especially impressive. I have the old FoxRox Captain Coconut 2 which does a great job of nailing some of the signature Hendrix fuzz and vibe tones, but honestly in this demo the Dunlop pedals end up sounding almost as good. So kudos for a job well done.
I'll be sticking with my Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz, Octavia and Fulltone Deja-Vibe. Roger Mayer actually designed and modified the pedals Jimi used so it's hard to get a more authentic sound. :)
These sound great. Excellent job as usual Andy. I'm impressed especially with the univibe and the gypsy fuzz. I wonder though, does the univibe make a popping sound as you turn it on? I've owned a couple univibe's in the past, one was a Moen Shaky Jimi, and the other was the Fulltone Dejavibe. Both would make a loud popping noise whenever I switched them on. I love univibes but I've steered clear of them for the "popping" issue. The fuzz face isn't all that impressive, as there are many great BC108 transistor fuzz faces on the market. The octavio didn't get much play in the video, but we all know what it does. Over all, I think it's cool to have a series released all at once with matching artwork, designed to emulate Jimi's effects. I know many are saying that it's just another attempt to sell products using Jimi's name, but I don't see a problem with this. Many new guitarists are inspired by Jimi and it's cool to have a series of effects pedals that encompass his unique sound. Also, who cares? Dunlop can do what they want. They make some of the best effects pedals as it is. If I owned a large effects company, I'd definitely have a line of Jimi Hendrix pedals. I'd also have a Gilmour series. And hell, even a Prince series.
I have the new Korg Nuvibe it's big and a little more money but no pop sounds it has the foot control and the wave is adjustable so you can get the classic Vibe sound or create your own vibe sound
Sweet! Thanks. Didn't Jimi actually use a Korg Nuvibe? They're big as you said. I was looking into one a couple of years ago but wasn't sure if I should take the plunge due to my "popping" history. I'll give it another look.
thars gold in them thar hills . . . .which is why this stuff keeps resurfacing . . . the pedals sound like Hendrix and I'm sure the Hendrix estate reaps some of this money. Andy's demos are great but after a while . . . I guess there is very little that is new in guitar sound.
Sorry, I still don't understand if the fuzz face, gypsy fuzz, and octavio should be used with a clean or dirty ampli, can someone who understands explain this?
That's really up to you ! You're hearing these pedals into a clean-ish Deluxe Reverb at Vol 4. These would sound even closer to Hendrix if you have them going into an amp with a little more breakup like a Marshall. The main reason is that the harshness of fuzz pedals gets smoothed out when running into a dirty amp. Good luck, Andy
@@ProGuitarShopDemos ok so if I have not misunderstood for some amplifiers they go well with the clean sound with others a little dirty without exaggerating so as not to cover the sound of the pedals
So, Dunlop gives us a more pedalboard friendly size enclosure for these fuzz face’s/FX, switches the input to the right side of the pedal, adds a tone control to the gypsy fuzz, and everybody hates it? Lol ok... 🙄
At least it's just a pedal. I have a beautiful champagne-colored Tele that's Chris Shiflett's signature guitar, and his literal signature is on the back of it...and on the case. Like, what a fuckwad. Now I'll have to pay for it to be removed in a way that won't damage the finish. smh.
Interesting to speculate on how "authentic" these can be as none were used by Jimi. Why be mealy mouthed about it? Just call them approved by Experience Hendrix
@@kengibbens5059 step sister.... She has no Hendrix blood, she is the daughter of Al Hendrix's second wife... She is not a Hendrix, Jimi only met her twice.
lmao so ignorant. The excessive milking of his name is shameful, but the man invented what we know today as the electric guitar. Gotta learn your roots.
Andy = brilliant, as always, and these sound good, but who in their right mind would want one or more images of Jimi staring up while playing? Cue up Pink Floyd's "Money" then do a quick google search for "Jimi Hendrix Estate" to read about the familial legal battles over the years. Jimi's music is immortal, but these pedalsbearing his image--which, under the hood, really are tools for creativity--are merely corporate merch.

+Vanderdude404 Making them standard production would more effectively achieve the same objective.
When I was a kid my guitar heroes were and still are Edward Van Halen and Jeff Beck

Wow that last bit with all the pedals stacked together actually sounded a lot like Hendrix live, I'm impressed. Great playing as usual, Andy

gypsy fuzz is just awesome!!
I have the Gypsy fuzz and i love it. Its one of my most used fuzz pedals.(along with the eqd hoof)
Love the mini jimi wah

Thanks man! I wondered about he MXR Uni-Vibe. It's a great price and a nice size. I love MXR.
John Ghost Ya it's a killer pedal!
How are these different to the last lot of authentic hendrix pedals they did a few years ago, other then the paint job??
exactly , only a different paint job..
The Octavia has the proper chip found in the bigger "cheese-wedge" pedal.
I'm not sure about the others.
crap.
Didn't we just go through this a few years ago...
The Telecaster sounds great
I feel like they keep milking/rebranding these pedals lol
CanOfPeas I do like the look of these better though.

Noah Hershkop sooooo true I have the original ones! There unreal
Seems to me Andy likes em!
*How to spot good pedals: Look at Andy's face when playing. He'll be smiling when he likes them. Now you know.*
But he gets these pedals for free if he smiles... part of the agreement.
I'd buy that ocatavio or gypsy fuzz though. they keep rebranding and releasing these every 3-5 years
Does the fuzz face has the usual noise when gain turned up?
I hate true bypass.
If Jimi were alive today he would only use buffer pedals and 2479 feet of curly guitar cables.
Sorry, I still don't understand if the fuzz face, gypsy fuzz, and octavio should be used with a clean or dirty ampli, can someone who understands explain this?

how they gonna sound with my baritone in drop A with duncan LIVEWIRES through my 5150?? lmfao
Probably pretty fuckin sweet. Drop A+fuzz=doooooom
What kind of amp is this going into ?
what song is playing from the 5 minute?

What songs is he playing
Where does he put the pic...really I mean it. Where does he hide it
He does not use picks. Only hands
@@redrum22 hehe....I was just kidding 🙂
Tortuga vibe sounds better too.
Oooooh, tasty
Andys's hair is funny. Low flow shower going on.
wowwww nice reviewwww...
God! How do you not expect me to be forever poor?
nice pedals but I've never been a fan of signature gear.. i dont want someone else's face on my stuff..

Woah Woah. Don't knock Bjork. He's got some dope shit. lol
No testing (er uhm demo) of the Octavio ?... Again, just a bunch of hype. Thanks anyways.
Love Andy's demos and playing..... But for accuracy's sake... the wah should have been last for Jimi.... more extreme wah action!
Not sure you'd call them that affordable. At $650 for the set you could get Cheaper w/same sound. 🎶🎸
it's only 130 bucks each. you can pay over 600 bucks for a good fuzz and univibe alone.
Release these pedals all year around ffs.
I prefer the Catalinbread if 6 was 9 pedal
Brian Cullen its solidgold fx pedal

Paul McCaffrey I'm sure Jimi's greedy half sister is raking it in while his brother suffers.

The unfortunate placement of Jimi's picture and knob placement makes jimi look like Mickey Mouse.
Hendrix don't use a cry baby wah! He use always VOX WahWah pedals!
He used both brands belive it or not including a king vox
NO
"Authentic"
not this shit again...
Andy is better than Jimi.
lol dude wtf is up with you
Wonderful video but, Hendrix pedals...again? Please stop!
If people weren't buying them they wouldn't keep making them.If people want it then why not??
Still milking the Hendrix name? Better guitarists have come out since then lol
echo "better"
Those guitarists wouldn't sound or play anything like they do today if Hendrix hadn't existed

the univibe is authentic my ass
