They're both awesome phones and I honestly think they're so close in everything that it just comes down to personal preference. They both have different categories for the camera that they each win on. The only reason I would go with the ultra over the iPhone is because I like customization and Android allows for the most options for making your phone unique in its own way. I also like that Samsung has more camera options for both video and photo. Also I agree with the comments stating to do a comparison after Samsung releases the updates. Android's updates to its software can be pretty dramatic. For instance I have a Samsung note 20 Ultra and the night vision mode when I first got the phone compared to now is completely insane. A night photo on my phone literally looks daytime cuz you can see everything now... but when I first got the phone it didn't have nearly the clarity it does now. Can't wait to get my Sky Blue Samsung S22 Ultra!
I agree with you. I prefer Android. My Note 9 camera improved with updates too. But I think I'm ready for the S22 Ultra! Both the iPhone and Samsung take great pics and videos. It's ultimately a person's preference on the phone they prefer. I love the S-pen.
As a very contended S21 Ultra owner I must compliment Samsung on the photographic performance of the new S22 Ultra. Anyone buying this phone should be excited about what they will soon be getting. It's camera software and optimizing looks bang on in all departments with many improvements over the already impressive S21 Ultra BUT I just have to high five Apple over the video quality of the IPhone 13 Pro Max. They really do nail it here especially in low light noise control which looks pretty remarkable to me and so smooth and detailed that it would be video to play on a large screen with pride whereas I would avoid filming such video on my S21 Ultra I must say. Well lit or even fairly well lit video looks GREAT and so stabilized on my S21 Ultra I must say in it's defense on ALL lenses too. Both the S22 Ultra and IPhone 13 Pro Max are brilliant phones and anyone who owns either (or has just ordered one) should feel bloody happy with themselves. 👍👍
Judging by various video test comparisons I've seen, I have a feeling there's a big difference in video between the Snapdragon and Exynos chips. A video test I saw on the Exynos looked horrible! The stabilization was great, but the quality of the video looked bad. Video during the night was extremely poor too, certainly not worthy of Samsung's claims of a big improvement. However, your comparison here, definitely shows great performance in those areas. That's why it leads me to believe that we could be looking at yet another situation where customers will not be happy getting the Exynos version. I hope to see someone do a vigorous test of the S22U, between both chips.
dang that portrait video from the front camera of the s22 ultra looks so good what the hell, it's even better than the back camera? honestly, that bokeh effect, I could easily have mistaken that with a DSLR
A couple of corrections: the iPhone, like the Galaxy, can only do 1 lens at a time in 4k and you can do cinematic mode on the 3x camera (it actually looks best on the telephoto). Just tap the 1x button at the bottom and it will switch to the telephoto.
Wow...the S22 might actually be able to de-throne the iThing when it comes to king of smartphone video. All the video out of that looked REALLY, really good.

When the Samsung stabilizes the frame and you move out of its stabilization capabilities, it makes a hard movement and rips the frame out of the stabilization. The iPhone just does a smooth turn. The photos may be great, but I really don't like Samsungs videos. I bet you can record 1080p on the iPhone and it will look better then 8k on the Samsung. Seeing this makes me very optimistic for future camera updates. I really hope samsung can iron out most of the things you mentioned, especially about low light video!
The number of phone comparison videos especially photo and video quality comparison is amazing. This makes me wonder if there are people out there who switch every single time a better phone comes out, the moment it comes out.
Best camera comparisons on the entire RUclips platform and it is not even close. As for the question yes, Samsung has definitely improved their video, especially their daylight video, I hope they improve their night-time video, I am hoping they will do something great with their software updates as they usually do, but overall, I think it takes the cake over the iPhone as a complete camera package with pictures combined but I will wait for your camera photo comparisons.
You should also do a test showing the following. Record videos side by side then open photos app edit the video by trimming to same lengths then upload to say Instagram then check quality of upload then compare. I’ve always been curious on who does that better
Lots of love from India. You are just hero of tech creators. Sir please let us inform if any software update hit to the s22 ultra and what will be visible changes in night time video performance. I am sure 1 to 2 camera updates will reduce noise alot.
9:54 pretty pants how iPhone is literally double exposing the bright flames and mirroring and inverting them - I guess crappy lens coating? Definitely not into that
I got to say Samsung has caught up in some areas and beaten Apple in others. Both phones are great. Can’t wait to see your thoughts on the photo comparison. As other comparison have yielded mixed results with each phone going back and forth.
10x optical isn't always used in darker conditions. To be honest are the differences pretty small. You can see it if you hold them side by side but otherwise they're both great. I have S21 Ultra and iPhone 13 Pro but the iPhone isn't always better in night time video. When auto fps on, the frame rate is 24fps so when panning it becomes choppy. When auto fps isn't triggered than the video is a bit darker but less noise which I prefer but detail can sometimes lost in the noise reduction. 4k60 on the other hand is much better on the iPhone compared to S21U
WoooW...Danny is and will always be the best one ever giving Camera review. Thanks Danny ..we love you.. Now we can't wait for camera comparison for pictures
As a Samsung user I think the iPhone video looks slightly better and more consistent. Hopefully, the S22 ultra gets better with updates so it can go from slightly behind to matching the iPhone's video. Photos are a different story though.

Great Video. I pre-ordered the 512g Black S22 Ultra.. I did buy my Wife the iPhone 13 Pro.. It's a great phone! I just like having more options like multitasking, customizing, etc. I think both phones are great. These phones now days will last 5yrs+ easily if you take care of them. My 1st ever Android was this 512g Note 10+ and it feels so tiny in my hands coming from Plus Size iPhones. I did check my storage after all these years & I've only used 128g of my 512g. I'm curious how would the S22U perform with FilmicPro now, even though it implies loosing lots of features, it's still usually better for quality in specific situations & goals.
I'm having such a difficult time deciding on which phone should I get... The pictures on the s22 ultra are better, but the videos on the 13 pro max are better... And both pictures and videos are important to me
Samsung shold remove the sharpness... Man, why every android smartphone's camera sharping the video? I am using filmic pro to remove the sharpness.. And the quality become so good
The daytime 8K is what Samsung should have focused more on. Their 8K looks great. But it's only on one camera and it gets cropped. They could have really made improvements there
@@BaSiC47 You probably don't have any 8k capable phone, that's why you have this notion. One example: 8k recording is great if you're trying to capture thunderstorm. Just record the whole thing, and take a screenshot of the video. It's a full 8k res screenshot. Can't do that on your puny 4k videos.
The Samsung galaxy S22 Ultra video are just the best, there's no debate about that: Better dynamic range, more detailed, more colored,... they just blown away the apple 13 pro max on this video...
@@Randomdude21-e that's In your mind, on this video we can easily see who is the king. The S22 ultra have a better zoom (by far), better dynamic range, his camera modules are more versatile, you can see each of them images at the same time and choose the one you want when filming, the portrait video looks better than the called "cinematic mode" that looks computed and not beautiful at all, the slow motion is far better... and ice on the cake it can shoot 8K video with great resolution and details so "the king has died, long life to the new king 😂😂😂
To switch without break the SoC / ISP has to deal with both lenses simultaneously. They can do normally, but 4K/60Hz is the heaviest load (besides 8k ) possible so it seems to be too much. And that's reasonable. Why add otherwise double computing power to SoC / ISP when it is only needed in this one rare scenario? I mean double power coats much more and for what?
For me this is a huge fail. We typically never record whole vide with 3x or 10x zoom lens. We record with main camera and the need to zoom just for couple of seconds. This is not possible with s22 ultra, unless we sacrify either resolution or framerate :( Too bad.

@@cherylharmon1856 Meaning? Don't be any kind of sheep man. Both are great high-end devices. I'm a Samsung user for years but I can't deny that iPhones (until now) perform better on videos. Even as I wrote, I saw a lot of improvement to S22U. For all the rest S22U wins.

thank you so much for making a dedicated video comparision bcs most youtubers just keep some clips of videos for couple of seconds but u did a dedicated video cpmparision insted of photos
Danny for President 🙌🏽 Your comparison give Joy because its really detailed. Glad to know tge s22ultra can match iphone in daytime. And very close at night. Huge improvement compared to the s21ultra for sure. Both day and night
Way better comparison than many big youtuber . Thank u🙂
Danny's comparison is as usual, the most lengthy, detailed, good subject, and actually bothered to tell us what the scenes look like. Also makes me want to move to Orlando if I decided not to move to Singapore
Excellent comparison. The best part, I didn't really feel any bias towards any side. You gave props to both sides and also critical when deemed. Thanks.
Apple is still better

The video quality on s22 ultra is really impressive.
Very nice! I appreciate these comparisons because I am interested in buying this phone from Note 9! Thank you!
Best Camera Comparison so far, kudos Danny :)
Always look forward to your camera comparisons, so thorough and clear
Wow Samsung sure destroyed apple
Thank you Danny! I really like your review. I trust it more than a lot of the reviews.
I actually prefer S22U for most of the shots including the night time video. More details
@@KonstantinDeak not everyone wants to use Pro mode pal
@@KonstantinDeak I mean I would certainly use pro mode if its far better but he is right, most people dont want to. The samsung looks a little oversharpend and noisy. But maybe they can fix some of this before the phones retail, I guess its mainly software
Great video. Night video finally useable. Kudos to samsung.
I am just wondering if you will cover a battery test later to compare these two flagship phones.
Interesting to see that SD8Gen1 S22 Ultra seems to have (again) a better camera processing than the Exynos version.
So a 256g will do for most people. (I've seen questions about this)
I actually Sold my computer because I can do everything from this Note 10+. Which the Ultra is a Note, it was just renamed..
Who else is counting down the days till they receive their S22U?
I think you did the best video comparison than everyone out there.
bless you.
Samsung's video is getting there, but the video on iPhone still looks more detailed while less oversharpened to Samsung.
I agree, funny that it is 108mp vs 12 mp😂 i think iphone will do good with new cameras this year.
@@Randomdude21-e it's the software that makes the 12mp better then the 108mp camera. Samsung just needs to improve on the software.
@@Randomdude21-e this is a video test not a photo test.
@@Randomdude21-e when record 4k the camera won't using 108mp it use 8-9mp only 🤣🤣 also normal mode s22 is 12mp not 108mp, 108mp only activate when you switch it on lol

Hope you can do 2 part again with Video Test, maybe JUST Ultra and more Examples. thx. thx thx.
hi danny great review as always. totally thorough and on point. main take away - portrait mode is very very good now on samsung, but boy, video, the snapdragon footage looks MILES better than the exynos variant video footage. having watched the Brit reviewers (exynos) it's very clear the difference. samsung, that's a disgrace. seriously.
On what channel can i watch that video?
I have watched some test with SD and Exynos and they are mainly the same.
Link or are you just making stuff up?
supersaf, the tech chap, mr who's the boss
I think those look similar to my eyes.
Exactement le test dont j’avais besoin pour me décider . Merci 🙏🏽
Great review Danny, I would be curious how both cameras handle the challenges of fireworks and people on a stage where bright spot lights are used that usually are a real challenge for any camera.
I subscribed. I think you are the most pleasant to watch and your videos seem to be extremely helpful. You are the best truly and make things easy to understand. Thank you so much!
Have watched several reviews and this one has confirmed that during recording, S22U can record better voice with less noise. I13PM can still capture the wind voice and it's disturbing
I13PM ? Please dont make that acronym again lol
Just go to iMovie and post edit the noise, takes under a minute and is easy.
@@andyH_England 95% of people dont want to edit their clips, especially not the audio. For phones, straight out of the phone is the thing which counts for the majority
@@froznfire9531 I don't know, half the fun is to do post work. You can then get the perfect photo or video. Maybe only 95% do it, but we should hope that more people use apps to correct in post.
@@andyH_England I love editing and color grading etc. but more for my "real" camera and drone than for my phone. To sharfe stuff quick to social media its just nice not having to edit anything. The companies really should try and get people into editing more, true that
This Was sooooo Helpful, Thank you
Great comparison! Only thing I noticed is I thought the zoom at night looked better on the S22U. iPhone still is king in video but kudos to Samsung for improving. Hopefully some software updates can fix it up a bit.
Solid review and better by far then most others who all say basically the exact same thing when comparing cameras on other devices!
Thank you Danny for another awesomely comprehensive comparison video. You are the only person so far who discusses the smartphone camera features very well. 👍
I hope you can also do separate tutorial videos on how to use all camera features of each smartphone (Samsung S22 Ultra, iPhone 13 Pro Max, Oneplus 10 Pro, Google Pixel 6 Pro).
Thanks for your video! I'm really happy with my order
I'm curious how would the S22U perform with FilmicPro now, even though it implies loosing lots of features, it's still usually better for quality in specific situations & goals.
The only camera comparisons worth watching.
I'm having such a difficult time deciding on which phone should I get... The pictures on the s22 ultra are better, but the videos on the 13 pro max are better... And both pictures and videos are important to me
Really great video thanks mate 😊
Samsung shold remove the sharpness... Man, why every android smartphone's camera sharping the video? I am using filmic pro to remove the sharpness.. And the quality become so good
Very helpful! Thank you!
The daytime 8K is what Samsung should have focused more on. Their 8K looks great. But it's only on one camera and it gets cropped. They could have really made improvements there
8K ist just for marketing. It absolutely doesnt matter at all.
@@djsist the 8k is shit, thats coming from a s21 ultra user. until they can fix stabilisation and get it to 30fps it doesnt matter and is a gimmick

@@amaratabaouosamake4483 yes everyone in the world are wrong and you are right. lol. Samsung is a great phone, but in video iphone is still king.
Samsung bot?
Excellent comparison 👍
I don’t get how modern phones can’t switch lenses in 4K 60 despite all of the processing power
And not forget. S22U is on pre installiert Software a major update will improve everything
Excellent comparison..I think the S22 is the phone for me even though the I phone has some slightly better photos. I just prefer Android and love the Notes. Plus, the photos on the S22 look great as well.
After watching at least 5 camera reviews, it seems the S22 Ultra does better photos than the Iphone, but the Iphone wins in video.
