This video has me thinking that maybe I do just leave the pro cameras home, take my S22 Ultra and use it for the few shots I want here and there and focus the rest of my time on having fun. Thank you for sharing!
I just ordered the S22 Ultra (I know, I'm late to the party), and I shoot DSLR as well. I've always said that a cell phone will never be able to replace a dedicated camera. Photography is a physical property of light and there's no way to physically reproduce that in a cell phone. Even though the effects of the phone are AI, they look incredible, and considering it's the device you're more likely to have on hand at any given moment. That said, it still takes the skill of an artist to understand the lighting and framing as you have shown in this shoot. Very impressive of the phone, more impressive of you as a photographer.
What you say is very true, years ago my PRO cameras became just work tools (weddings). Our cell phones accompany us everywhere and do their job very well, this year I stopped being a fan of Samsung after many years and the photos of my ex Samsung Galaxy S21 ULTRA vs my current Google Pixel 6 PRO do not withstand the test of see them 1/1 scale. Samsung has a destructive algorithm. Google respects the detail. I bought my google 3 months after I bought my Samsung. Guess who's for sale now?... // Esto que dices es muy cierto, hace años que mis cámaras PRO han paso a ser solo herramientas de trabajo (bodas). "They came out 6 months after Apple came out" I mean the iPhone came out in September and the S22 line cane in February. The S22 is a lot closer to the iPhone 13 than it is to the iPhone 14 otherwise, what iPhone do you compare it to? I think they both do well.
exactly, that statement is lame. even comparing iPhone13 Pro with S21Ultra, S21 still win tho except for video which iPhone always does better job. the only massive different for S21 and S22 is edge detection. in time iPhone 14 came out, S22 already got a several update for camera improvement, like S21 did.
This is an amazing video. In the hand of a proper photographer (who had the good sense to lock the focus and dial down the exposure on S22U), S22U in several shots actually came out trumps over the Sony and that just BLOWS my mind. You should do a similar one where u use Expert RAW in S222U and run both the pics in Adobe LR on a Computer and then lets see what happens!!
That's just amazing. Can't wait to get mine to try out the Expert RAW app on the S22 Ultra. I'm curious to how the landscape photography will be with it.
I used to shoot photography with Canon I am a s22 owner as well and this is probably the first video I've seen with another photographer showing this phone. all the videos you see online is iPhone iPhone there needs to be more Samsung video creators or creators using the Samsung phone with video and photography. this was really well done most of the pictures I liked the fact that you could see the side by side between a $3,000 camera basically and a phone. and I think the phone in some cases did a little better or they looked about the same but hands down to Samsung for competing with a professional camera. Samsung doesn't get the marketing love that Apple does but they make a hell of a camera. this was really well done I think you should do another shoot in a different location with a different model just for some perspective like maybe outdoors or maybe street photography or a boudoir shoot or fine art shoot
@6:18, I mean its been that way since the beginning, same way when the iPhone 14 comes out, it will be competing with the S22 Ultra. You test out the best from each company so by his logic, when the 14 pro max comes out it wouldn't matter because the S22 ultra would be 7 months old.
😂 At the off-camera person's comment. That's like every Apple fan's excuse 😂 🙄 When the iPhone 14 comes out, and the camera is improve, then one can say the same thing about Apple 🤦. What a dumb rationale 🙄
Thanks for the side-by-side comparison. It really gives evidence that the quality of work we do is not just having a great camera. Especially since many of the newer smartphones produce comparable results to mid-range pro cameras. The untrained eye of an everyday consumer would not be able to pick up the difference. Great work here by the way! I may try one of these tests myself in my old-time photo studio.
This has to be the best camera review video I have ever seen!! 🔥🔥 I now love my s22 ultra so much more thanks to this 🙌 ❤️ I really am shocked at how well this phone snaps portrait sho😳😳
Great pics! It would've been a joke just a few years ago if someone suggested comparing the image quality of a smartphone to a pro digital camera, but smartphones, especially Samsung, have come a long way. A Samsung smartphone and a Sony mirrorless camera, also my favourite team. Same goes for me together with my Sony A6000. The camera system on the S22 Ultra is indeed a true incredible piece of equipement. And i'm happy that Samsung now also has used Sony sensors same as Apple with the IPhone 13 series. 1:37 look at the hand, it's mindblowing how S22 had done justice to the dynamic range! Even in that background wall, I still can't believe that the S22 captured darker areas as well as brighter areas, are both, better than the alpha.
As with most camera comparison videos on RUclips, they didn't show close ups of the images at 100%, which is the only way to compare the amount of noise introduced by the cameras sensors. Without that, the comparison is incomplete. The closest detail this video showed was the hair to show off the Samsung feature for capturing hair detail.
The edge detection of s22 ultra is just unparallel 🥵image few years now and when we get that enough computing power and we implement this level of edge detection in portrait video 😍
At 5:47 you can see sony's BIGGEST problem. Look at the skylight. Notice how the S22 Ultra preserved more dynamic range in the sky, where sony was blown out. The a7iv is definitely more detailed, however has a horrible handle on dynamic range without bracketing. This is where Ai photography will revolutionize the way we see things. In fact, sony has a brand new Ultra Violet image sensor! This should, if paired with Ai change camera technology as we know it.
"has a horrible handle on dynamic range without bracketing". What? Bracketing is required for HDR on ANY camera. Smartphones have been doing this for a very long time. Without bracketing there is no HDR.

Pro shooter here (two a7iii, one a7Riv, with far too many lenses). I'm heading on my first cruise in two weeks and have been debating which camera and what lenses to bring - all the while thinking I should just leave it all at home and focus on having a good time instead. (but hey, am I really being "me" if I'm not taking pictures?!?) This video has me thinking that maybe I do just leave the pro cameras home, take my S22 Ultra and use it for the few shots I want here and there and focus the rest of my time on having fun. Thank you for sharing!
I am a pro shooter as well. I would just use the smartphone. Cruises are not the ideal vacation for taking a professional camera. Enjoy your vacation!
Amazing what a phone can achieve these days. Great video!
Very impressive of the phone, more impressive of you as a photographer.
late to the party? the phone just came out lol
@@BismarckCore Three weeks before I got one. That's like 14 years in technology gibberish. BTW, it's incredible!
"They came out 6 months after Apple came out" I mean the iPhone came out in September and the S22 line cane in February. The S22 is a lot closer to the iPhone 13 than it is to the iPhone 14 otherwise, what iPhone do you compare it to? I think they both do well.
Exactly
Meh! iphone sucks a**
This is the way apple fan boys Express their anger when the lose in an area of competition
exactly, that statement is lame. even comparing iPhone13 Pro with S21Ultra, S21 still win tho except for video which iPhone always does better job.
the only massive different for S21 and S22 is edge detection.
in time iPhone 14 came out, S22 already got a several update for camera improvement, like S21 did.
Finally someone that can do math
This is amazing!.. The photos taken with this Samsung are incredibly good !
Good smartphone + really good photographer = wonderful photos 😂
The ultra looks better 😳
"Wait, that's illegal"
It adds warmth to the pictures 😍
You should to a phone photo guide. I have subscribed.... Rarely do that after one video
I have the S21fe and the portrait mode is really impressive too. Samsung doing a great job on this.
That's just amazing. Can't wait to get mine to try out the Expert RAW app on the S22 Ultra. I'm curious to how the landscape photography will be with it.
That Was Same Man I Hope This Phone goes Very Well And Samsung Also A Brand 🤗🤗🤗
Bro the edge detection on Galaxy is insane 😳
Thanks for make this video I just love s22 ultra I am use s22 ultra in wedding couples poses 😍
😂 At the off-camera person's comment. That's like every Apple fan's excuse 😂 🙄
When the iPhone 14 comes out, and the camera is improve, then one can say the same thing about Apple 🤦. What a dumb rationale 🙄
This comment should be pinned! 😄
Yeah, same as samsung S21 and iPhone 13 series
It's a joke, i guess
Taking mental note to lower the exposure when taking photos with my S22 Ultra, this was awesome thanks!
Watched the pixel 6 pro n damn this s22 ultra nailed it!!
🔥🔥 I now love my s22 ultra so much more thanks to this 🙌 ❤️ I really am shocked at how well this phone snaps portrait sho😳😳
is it good for selphies?
@@marwafessya7774 more than good.
Great pics! It would've been a joke just a few years ago if someone suggested comparing the image quality of a smartphone to a pro digital camera, but smartphones, especially Samsung, have come a long way. The S22 is all the camera the average person would need; buying digital cameras is now mainly for photography pros/amateurs/enthusiasts.
Would have been dope if you attached a 50mm/85mm on the Galaxy on regular mode, but nevertheless awesome content as always! madd fiya
S22 ultra has a telephoto lens, you don't even need to add an additional lens to try this
@@youranonymous931 yes we know that but with those “portrait mode usually it’s assisted by computational photography, right? Main camera are usually the strongest gear
@@mrdamiansingh that is if you use portrait mode with main cam, then it uses computational photography. If you use telephoto lens, stand far from your subject, then you will get true portrait effect without computational photography
@@youranonymous931 ok bro bro whatever is clever! I don’t shoot professional work with cellphones anyways I just mention a “you should have” I couldn’t care less about this whole discussion but stay up and keep on it
@@youranonymous931 the sensor of the telephoto lens is nowhere near as good as the main lens. The telephoto in portrait mode is to give a tighter FoV overall, but the bokeh or blur is 100% AI or computational.
This video shows that in the hands of the right persoon a S22 Ultra can easily match the quality of a point and sloot camera like for example the Sony RX-100 series or even maybe an entry level A6000 series mirroless camera. I've picked up my S22 Ultra yesterday and going to enjoy it to the max!
I love Samsung and Apple Products. Love how the S22 did really well in dark areas. That's crazy. Phones will eventually take over my whole life.
you can only tell a very slight difference if you look very closely but really need to zoom in and I kinda like the colors more on the samsung
Amazing job and skills! I wish I could use the cameras on this phone to the full potential like you. ❤️ Amazing 🤩
Im amazed at your skills to make such beautiful portraits with a phone. Its all in you man!
The portrait mode is crazy!! my main interest in the S22 Ultra's camera is for taking selfies and pictures of me and my friends, so I appreciate being able to really see what it's capable. Were there any presets or special settings that you did or was it really just point-and-click? :O
Its just point and click. Just set your cam to portrait mode and choose the blur filter
Holy moly love booth cameras. Insane how far cellphone cameras are. Great
The camera of s22 ultra is just mindblowing💥💥
I just got a Flip 4 and I thought my phone's camera was great, man the S22 Ultra is a beast on another level...It is truly astonishing to see how good phone cameras have become...this quality from a cell phone is unreal....
It would be nice to see how the s22 ultra performs in other environments(outdoor)where it's more challenging.
Performs even more amazing outdoor
Lee please do a portrait photo comparison between the S22 Ultra and Iphone 13 Pro Max on max settings
Great video but I would love to watch a video comparison of Samsung’s expert raw (and how it edits) compared to Apple ProRAW (and how it edits) I think that it would be berry interesting to see a comparison of these computationally enhanced raw files.
Check out jonathan casey ? I think he did a Samsung RAW vs Apple ProRes video. Samsung takes it up a notch by using RAW which keeps a lot more data than ProRes. Also apparent in the file size, samsung RAW was 5GB in 15 seconds
Gggtyt
@@therainbowpoopp I’m referring to the pictures, ProRes and ProRaw are different, still thank you for the suggestion, thankfully he just uploaded a comparison today.
This is the first time i watch your video. I love it very much. Tks you! 😍
6:20 , they came out 6 month later so they can tweak stuff ? bro that's a weak statement from whoever behind the camera , if i want to make the same argument i can too " ip 14 promax came out also 6 month later after this S22 ultra so apple can tweak stuff to beat samsung " . see the point ? Oh and also you don't need the S22 ultra to beat the ip 13 promax in potrait S21 are doing this just as good as s22 ultra and that phone is 6 month before the 13 promax so ya :) . Also SAmsung recents year has been doing fantastic in Potrait photography they are consistent with the cut out and blur compare the Google pixel or iphone.
yes they came after 6 months but samsung supports pro mode in which you can adjust shutter speed and aperture which you cant in Apple
I am impressed by Samsung s22
Super 😍🔥
You are an apple fan(me too) and yet not biased....I like the honesty 🙌🏽
It's actually better on s22 ultra WTF
Dude this was amazing! I didn't think the Samsung would hold up. Could you do this again with the S23 Ultra? And maybe do portrait video? A camera vs S23 Ultra vs Iphone 14 Pro would be an incredible video
Damn, I'm so impressed how out of completely ordinary situations, someone with the right eye and experience can get photos that look so good.
You'd do better photos with a spoon than I will with the best equipment available. 🙃
Very well made comparison. Thank you!
Always Samsung has the best camera
It’s not a problem. It’s just that it doesn’t do heavy hdr like phones do
This was an awesome comparison
Ooh boy S22U is a beast
S22ultra is awesome 👌
Got me looking at my Google Pixel 6 Pro a little strange.😂 Still keeping it though but this is undeniable that Samsung has something special here.
S22U wins for me
This is just the video i needed. Getting the s22 ultra!!
SAMSUNG KILL IPHONE
Always
Brilliant video I would love a video on how you do the exposure and how you edited the photos on some
5:57 suddenly the iPhone is better LOL
Nah
Man ! how did u turned this location into an art ,, its amazing how u chose the poses with such a simple place ,,
regarding the s22 ultra , i honestly can't believe these photos are straight out of the phone and unedited .. they are stunning
Never had an iphone and never will
OMG!! That Galaxy Look Insane💥
By far the most unbiased and honest comparison, and you sparked an interest toward that Sony cam
Great to see someone who knows how to use a camera and play with exposure use this phone. Great shots, best camera phone out there right now.
Wait wait did that voice really say cause it came out 6 months later?🤣🤣🤣 great video.💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
💜WOW! I’m sold!! Exactly what I’m looking for!
S22 ultra really got a nice shot and ofcourse its all bec of you as a pro photographer that knows what he is doing, greatjob. wow such a powerful phone hopes i can get it too someday
Very nice photos!! Great job to both of you!
I got mine yesterday and took some shots today and I'm honestly blown away
I wish i could even know how to takes pictures with my s22 ultra
Really enjoyed watching my friend! 🔥🔥
Perfect , wht i want to know u showed well. Edge detection 👍 super in s22 ultra. Work professionlly potrait ..ty to video
If the pro photographer is the one who review on a photo on smartphone comparing to dslr is more like a pro comparison. Good Work indeed.
this video illustrates why it is necessary to buy a camera that makes us happy to use (for me Fuji) and not the optical quality. Especially if we look at photos on phone and RUclips :)
Feeling proud to have the S22 Ultra after seeing this video it is neck to neck competition
Beast....
Video so raw I'm giving a like.
