Oh cool! I started using snapseed as well, what sort of things do you find yourself wanting to edit in snapseed? it might be enough for now, but it was one of the first easy to use editors on android and also the first that allowed proper importing of DNG (RAW) files, I think lightroom took over in the last couple of years mainly because of some of their paid features , so don't be too quick to jump , usually "not" being able to "do" something you need is the real reason to switch.

@@robmulally i shouldn't have said that, I'm sorry, you proved a point very well at 6:33 and it's up to you how much you play around with the editing, as long as the raw file allows you.
I noticed that the new Lightroom AI denoise algorithm doesn't work with this phone's recent DNG files. I went back to RAW photos I shot in December, and guess what? Those RAW photos can be denoised by the new LR algorithm! After digging deeper, I realised that something happend in between. Most likely, a firmware update screwed things up. When analysing the EXIF data, we can clearly see that the new DNGs are not uncompressed RAW anymore, but Linear RAW with embedded JPEG compression. This explains why LR AI Denoise doesn't work on these files anymore I suspect that the problem started sometimes in April, when Expert RAW was added as an option inside the default camera app, in Pro mode. Expert RAW always had these linear RAW files (since these are HDR DNGs), and I suspect that when the two things were combined, the Expert RAW DNG generating algoritm replaced the original RAW algorithm. Not good. Also, as a side note: The x3 and x10 sensors have 10Mpix native resolution (3648 x 2736), but the outputs of Expert RAW and the regular camera app in photo mode are 12Mpix (4000 x 3000)! So Expert RAW is upscaling the output of the x3 and x10 cameras. This is not what RAW files are supposed to do. It only confirms that the DNG is in fact a JPEG file in a DNG container.
This is good info! I personally have found the new AI denoise to be slow so haven't been using it much, I'll have to keep an eye on the Expert Raw, I'm just happy you can now use the Pen to take photos in expert raw on S23 Ultra haha. Have you found any other major differences in Pro Mode vs Expert Raw, I feel like expert raw almost a testing ground before features moved over?
@robmulally The slowness depends on how powerful your GPU and your CPU are. It's OK for me, but as I said, you can't use it at all with the new Samsung DNGs. I am using Topaz AI instead, which is almost as good. Expert RAW has 16bits/pixel/color, because it combines 3 (I guess) photos using HDR. Thus, it has more info/pixel than the Pro DNGs. So when using the x1 and x0.6 cameras, Expert RAW may be preferred if you can tolerate the lag between photos (requierd to align and combine the individual HDR shots). This is an annoyance when you want to make panoramas involving 5-6 consecutive DNGs. For the x3 and x10, Expert RAW is an abomination because of the upscaling mentioned above. So, the Pro mode is preferred.
Absolutely fantastic shots man!👌🏻 You've given me a few ideas for future shoots 🙏🏻 Ive noticed that I get better results with Expert Raw over the main pro mode, although much slower the Expert Raw gives you an HDR Raw file so much more leeway in Lr in terms of DR, you should give it a go.
I missing a few tricks not using s-pen with Bluetooth. Although have been lightroom and expert raw. I found the 108 mpixel images in lightroom after a little bit contrast editing look quite good. Anyway merely an amateur here. Keep up the good vids.
CHeers! yeah the pen is useful! I dont use a lot but its really great when you need it! I mostly just shoot non 108mp but I will try and do some testing soon to see if i should change :)
I've so far just been using the DJI ones, i didn't use them at first as the stabilisation is pretty good but it does make a difference, and you can keep the wide angle and not loose crop etc, but if you have other brands you want me to test out lmk.
I'm just a hobbiest, who takes cosplay photos for my girlfriend and friends. But my camera is old~. A Nikkon D3300. I have wanted to upgrade at some point, but I just got the Sasung s22 Ultra (coming tomorrow). And looking at your amazing shots, it blows my old DSLR away (not surprising in the least). So until the day I do get a new DSLR, I was thinking of trying out using the S22 for shooting. I just wanted to know, is there any way to get the speedlight to work with it? I have some goddox speedlights and an XPro N which I used on my Nikon. Can't try it until my phone shows up, but even then it seems Godox uses its own app for the photos. And it seems rather limited. I was wondering if there is anyway to use Samsungs Pro mode, and get it to work the off camera flash? Even if it needs a certain trigger or even flashes. Probably a pipe dream but thought I'd ask and see if you knew. Trying to find anything on RUclips about it doesn't get the best results, or gets me iPhone stuff.
Ok so this is a tricky one. I don't know of any way to trigger, but now I really want to as I also have some flashes .. sync fast flash is hard but if it's in a dark spot you could manually trigger flash if it's the only light source or.. all other source is dark. Let me do a Google and find out if there is anything I can find for connection.
Found this on a blog : Bluetooth functionality now built into the Godox X2T and Flashpoint R2 Pro Mark II , i had a look and it seems x2t did support some android but I'm not sure about new phones, I might see if I can find an email for godox to ask them.

want to love the S22 Ultra, but the iPhone still produces far more natural photos out of the box, especially with blues. great video, could you make a detailed video on photo editing with s23 ultra spen? i take macro shots of diamonds and would love to compare pro gear to what the phone can do. thanks
There are a few reasons, Auto focus might not work in complex light enviroments, it also adds a small delay when taking a photo on any camera, if i'm going to be in the same location (Distance from camera) its a variable i can remove (delay + bad or incorrect focus) So I set it manually in the pro mode. Hope that makes sense.
Where sorry, for phone videos I would only do this if I stated it, otherwise would be miss leading. But that's how the night mode kinda work and auto mode I'm sure has a built in hdr. But if you let me know what part of video I can answer in more detail.

I have the 22 Ultra and took a few photos of the moon last night. I'm haven't got used to all the camera settings yet, and I was holding the phone. But the results were amazing. For a phone camera I was really impressed.
Yeah the phone uses computational photography and can grab a few shots when you are thinking its just one, and when thats on (by default) it will merge the results to improve on camera shake or bright /dark areas etc. if you ever find that you dont want it just simply turn it off (gold icon bottom right of photo screen)
While i haven't used it you need to set the top 3:4 to 3:4 108mp and it will appear in bottom of the shooting window in normal camera. I don't use 108mp very often but its there if you need it

Hi! did you manage to resolve this, if you have tried multiple charge cables, this usually means inside the usb c port there is something causing a short circuit between two pins, (usually debris or after salt water dries up) - Turn the phone off and see if you can use some Isopropyl ( great for circuits as it evaporates at room temp) if you break a chopstick or toothpick you can get a small "soft wood" point, use that to scrape the pins inside the usb c port. be very gentle and see if you can dig out debris or clean pins of anything that is shorting them. let me know if this helps , I have had this before with another phone and lucky the wireless charing kept me charged until i figured this out, if this doesn't help you might have a damanged usb c port.

So, the Pro mode is preferred.
your photos are sick!
Oh thanks!
Just wow
Awesome video thanks for your efforts.
very welcome!
Stunning work…
You look good in the Panasonic Pony of Hope t-shirt. 5 stars.
Finally someone noticed!! Haha 5 stars for you!!!
Ahh really? I didn't notice it have to test it out, thanks!
But when you zoom in Expert Raw photos, they lack details and look oversharpened compared to the normal pro mode. Have you noticed that?
@@roozbehabbasi2497 it sounds like I need to do some testing....
@@roozbehabbasi2497 if you edit the Raw files in Lr you control the sharpness so I don't get what you're saying.
Thanks so much!!
s22 ultra 🔥🔥
You have one!?!
@@robmulally yes ..
The price is too high.😇
@@ragavar4481 damn , what you have now?
Great video 👍🏻👍🏻
I missing a few tricks not using s-pen with Bluetooth. Although have been lightroom and expert raw. I found the 108 mpixel images in lightroom after a little bit contrast editing look quite good. Anyway merely an amateur here. Keep up the good vids.
CHeers! yeah the pen is useful! I dont use a lot but its really great when you need it! I mostly just shoot non 108mp but I will try and do some testing soon to see if i should change :)
Like Rob, like the video, love the photos but didn’t enjoy the musical background. Thankfully the volume was kept down . Thanks Rob
Thanks for the feedback.! Yeah I was wondering if I need it.
Really love it. 💕
Great video, what would be a good or great gimbal for the s22 ultra?
@@robmulally Thats all interesting information. And thanks! Hope you manage to find some info, might make an interesting vid idea to look into.
Found this on a blog : Bluetooth functionality now built into the Godox X2T and Flashpoint R2 Pro Mark II , i had a look and it seems x2t did support some android but I'm not sure about new phones, I might see if I can find an email for godox to ask them.
@@robmulally oh wow! Thanks for going so far to find out. Really going above and beyond here ^^;
You super skill, nice job, coming from my old Nikon d300 , I'm excited to get the ultra, how do u do double exposure lock of high light and shadow? Thanks
You tap and hold when in pro mode ( I think you asking how to split the exposure and focus?)
The most important thing is the guy behind the camera. I just know I wouldn't have the creative mind to think of these compositions
Thanks
Awesome
Hello. I am writing to you from Turkey. I am using Fuji XT30. But there is no Stabilization in this camera and there is a problem when shooting video. Which FUji SX10- Samsung 22 ultra should I buy for my commercial business (Wedding, Event) videos?
we all need an sd card slot! I have the s21 and not having external memory is very annoying. especially when all my previous photos are on it and I only have light room on my phone 🤔
Yes, I understand this pain! I was going to make a whole video on this, what is your SD card size (amount) of photos, and how big is your current phone storage? just curious?
@@robmulally I have the biggest capacity, I'm not sure on the spec. But its actually been fine, I've not needed any external memory.
@@SHANDEE2 I'm curious you using cloud storage at all? I've had to build a bit if a workflow for getting things on and off etc so curious what others are doing
want to love the S22 Ultra, but the iPhone still produces far more natural photos out of the box, especially with blues. I want a camera that gives me results as close to what my eyes see as possible, not contrast and vibrance for added style. Sure, there's raw editing, but most people just want to point and click. I am hoping this can be addressed with a software update.
Interesting I found the s22 to be very undersaturated, have you tried it or just comparing to What Samsung did in the past?
iPhones photos is really not that natural.
Great video it convinced me to subscribe and like, also can you do another video using Expert Raw. Thanks.
Will do!! And thanks!
Holy sht why did I just discovered you now? 🔥
haha very kind but I don't make many videos! Let me know what you want to see next! I really enjoy helping people.

hey Rob, Cool video. I was curious: what stand/holder do you use for holding your S22 Ultra?
Btw, i mean at 6:02
Tripod Mount I use :
AU: amzn.to/3jmAtjz
USA: amzn.to/3fKX62Z
Can directly on some tripods but had screws for plates that are needed
Thomas brodie Aka Newt from Maze Runner hosting the video😂😂
haha almost!
Nice video a great editing skills one more sub 4 U :)
1. Does anyone know the frame rates for Super Slow-Mo and for Slow Motion?
2. Also, do you think "Record when motion detected" in Super Slow-Mo will be activated by the tiny International Space Station passing in front of the magnified sun?
I had no idea the singer from Sugar Ray makes videos about taking photos now.
the internet is a magical place.
great video, could you make a detailed video on photo editing with s23 ultra spen? i take macro shots of diamonds and would love to compare pro gear to what the phone can do. thanks
Noted!
I'm curious what sort of setup do you use? for lights etc
Please post some more video with pro mode of s22 ultra how to use it for taking street photography..as in to capture moving subject
Sure! adding to my list!
Amazing video mate. Ill have to play a bit with my camera and the settings to get some cool shots like yours. Btw love the green S22 ultra 🙌
how do you set manual focus on tunnel self portrait? moving focus and try taking images? why not leave it on auto?
There are a few reasons, Auto focus might not work in complex light enviroments, it also adds a small delay when taking a photo on any camera, if i'm going to be in the same location (Distance from camera) its a variable i can remove (delay + bad or incorrect focus) So I set it manually in the pro mode. Hope that makes sense.
Like your style. What are you working on instruction video?
Yeah starting with Mobile Photography, do you have questions I can answer in the videos?
Got mine this past week. I can't wait to receive my first text message!
Are you exposure blending like you would create an hdr i.e. using 3 or more shots at different exposures?
Where sorry, for phone videos I would only do this if I stated it, otherwise would be miss leading. But that's how the night mode kinda work and auto mode I'm sure has a built in hdr. But if you let me know what part of video I can answer in more detail.
@@robmulally ah okay, I thought you were doing anything special like taking several shots to enhance DR in contrasty conditions. Thanks for replying.
If i understand this right.... its a great camera we just need to learn how to use it. I get you.
Love it! 😘😘😘😘
Thank you! Cheers!
We would like to see expert raw full res samples, and if you can upload the photos fr this video to full res 3d party website?
This was a pre release phone. I can look to do that when I have a retail device. I really don't like the expert raw app. What do you want the images for?
@@robmulally to crop in for geek purposes 😁
Pixel peeping
@@robmulally why don't you like the expert raw app?
What tripod do you use?
I have the 22 Ultra and took a few photos of the moon last night. I'm haven't got used to all the camera settings yet, and I was holding the phone. But the results were amazing. For a phone camera I was really impressed.
Yeah the phone uses computational photography and can grab a few shots when you are thinking its just one, and when thats on (by default) it will merge the results to improve on camera shake or bright /dark areas etc. if you ever find that you dont want it just simply turn it off (gold icon bottom right of photo screen)
Where is the detail enhancer option? I have an S22 Ultra and haven't seen that option anywhere.
While i haven't used it you need to set the top 3:4 to 3:4 108mp and it will appear in bottom of the shooting window in normal camera. I don't use 108mp very often but its there if you need it
Sorry for previous comment about ldac, it was intented for another video on another channel. My mistake
Not a problem at all! What phone do you have now ? I wish i had the ears to be able to hear that level of quality.
@@robmulally I have the Zfold3 512GB and have settled for a case with magnetic hinge protection ( quite slim but with no spen support).
I had it for almost a year and it s holding weel
As you said, the only thing missing is that camera setup and that 10X optimal zoom of the S22Ultra...i can live with the lack of Pen silo
I'd like to see more lightpainting

Mine won t charge keeps saying moisture remove plug only had it a month any suggestions
Hi! did you manage to resolve this, if you have tried multiple charge cables, this usually means inside the usb c port there is something causing a short circuit between two pins, (usually debris or after salt water dries up) - Turn the phone off and see if you can use some Isopropyl ( great for circuits as it evaporates at room temp) if you break a chopstick or toothpick you can get a small "soft wood" point, use that to scrape the pins inside the usb c port. be very gentle and see if you can dig out debris or clean pins of anything that is shorting them. let me know if this helps , I have had this before with another phone and lucky the wireless charing kept me charged until i figured this out, if this doesn't help you might have a damanged usb c port.
S21 ultra vs s22 base which is better camera
