- It's time for another carwow drag race! Mat's sat in the fastest Volvo production car - the S60 Polestar Engineered! It lines up with a turbo & supercharged 2.0-litre engine and electric motor, producing a combined 405hp! But does it stand a chance against the diesel (😱) S4 with its 3.0-litre V6? How about either the M340i or AMG-E53 with their respective 3.0-litre straight-six turbos? There's only one way to find out... LET'S RACE!

It's called power-to-weight ratio. As for price, they stripped out all of the comfort features for power :) Disclaimer I'm an E53 driver.

@@CouldUseARide I didn't notice but the volvo s60 was basically was using it's engine instead of the battery sense it was almost fully depleted, which tbh is fair cause the weight difference from the T6 and T8 as if the battery was fully charged it would be a lot faster, btw the european market gets the mild hybrid on all of there engines in 2022 and up.

Really I can't think of a car that has a cheaper interior than a Model 3, every small city cars like the Renault Clio or VW Polo have much higher quality interiors.

@@Henkele 700 Nm is only for low rev grunt to pick up loads like all diesels. After 4000 rpm diesels make less torque.
@@Henkele It's a diesel, there's no top end to it. Unlike the petrol versions of the S4, I doubt the diesel one has significantly underrated power figures.

It’s the 2nd lowest BHP in there... my guess is that it has more intake vents, a slightly better aerodynamic design, a vastly superior ECU & well engineered launch control that even the whopping 600NM TQ s4 couldn’t match up against. Also it’s super light lol ~3.4k lbs is a lil go kart if it’s packing ~380BHP.

It doesn’t have a sports exhaust, the exhaust system installed has been deadened on purpose to be used on other comfortable Volvos.

Well the Volvo did not have 405 hp. The battery was completely empty. That means 318 hp and awd which is pretty much fwd.

It did sound the best and it does stay winning I think it’s the fastest but I don’t think the build quality is the best I think the design of all of those elements work well together for it like the drive train chassis gearbox all of that but it stays in the shop though
Tae Izofyne bmw actually has the best build quality for example in an mercedes you can actually kind of move the middle console a little bit (also in an audi) while everything in an BMW is solid
@@zed3435 I seriously don't get this obsession with the moving center console. Have you considered the fact that a slightly wobbly console might reduce rattling in the long-term because it may be designed with slight movement in mind?

The stock M3 dynos at 420+hp at the wheels so I would say it it probably the most powerful car here. BMW underrated it, as always.
Just look at the finish, there is no way in hell it does 12.7s 1/4mile with 374hp.

All the German brands underrate their horsepower. I read that the BMW M5 competition dyno’d at ~617 AT THE WHEELS, so really it’s around 700 hp

That B58 engine is absolutely incredible. Easily destroyed the competition. I raced a Volvo V60 T8 Polestar against my X3 M40i (B58) a couple weeks ago and it wasn’t even close - I won by several car lengths. He must have believed in the hype. But I will say Volvo did an awesome job on the overall design. That V60 is a really sharp looking vehicle 👍🏻

The bimmer is really fast, but.... there is a a reason they put in a diesel audi against an M performance bimmer instead of an "RS" Audi.
A gas engine, a supercharger, turbo, and an electric motor and that’s the best they can bring to the table. Can you imagine maintaining all those components long term as well!
Yea that s60 will cost 15 grand at most, after 5 years.

For those still doubting the X3 m40i of Matt’s recent video, the B58 is way better than its rival s4, c43 or e53 whatever period. It’s only 0.2-0.3s slower than the c63 big v8. Best engine u can get in it’s class

@@Horizon301. pretty sure I heard that they have some way to filter out the worst of the dieselly noise through the exhaust too. I don't think it's worked, the car still sounds gruff like you expect a German diesel to, but it doesn't sound overly agricultural

Im came to dealership to check x5 base model and came out on the dealership with m340i. That B58TU engine have a lot of potential. JB4 piggyback tune, light wheel, and get rid of those OEM pirelli run flat tire, MST cold air intake, downpipe and charge pipe. That should enough to join the 400+ hp club with that m340i. Love the new m340i.

The m340i is a really incredible car. Its power is also understated. I believe BMW has it listed as low 4s 0-60, but it has been tested as fast as 3.8 secs... and it's not even the full M model.
Yeah the car is really powerful especially tuned and upgraded. A friend of mine owns one and it’s really nice. I’m honestly thinking of getting one but I’m not sure yet.
Wait until we see the upcomming M3/M4...S58 engine.

HunterK Elite this wasn’t a fair matchup for the Mercedes. Should have been the c43 sedan. The e class couple was way to heavy to compete with the lighter weight bmw.

I absolutely love my Sunset Orange M340i, it's an absolute beast and it doubles nicely as a family saloon when it needs to. My mate has a Merc C43 (2020 MY) and he's yet to beat me in our little drag races. Even when I hop in his the M340i takes it. Now, his brother's CLA45S+... That's another story. I4 2.0 and it matches my 340 pace for pace (even though it has 420HP as it's like the gearbox doesn't utilise it well). The B58D and the ZF8 gearbox really is a match made in heaven.

Been driving this new m340i since Juin 2019, I refused the “emission recall” software upgrade during first service, so my car still gets 390hp instead of 382hp in US and Canada, it worth every penny and smiling every second in it!
ZQ DDD be careful got a m340i late November car was bricked before I could even drive out the showroom, software had to be wiped and reinstalled to remove drivetrain fault code, funny thing was there was an over the air software update as I was setting up the car before it bricked, hence recall could be pushed on to you remotely

common fact grats on the new toy, yea they do have some over the air upgrade but my software version is still on March 2019 which they deliver those cars with more than 390hp in us and Canada. So far we had three recalls two related to the software updated(emission recall which will lower the hp to 382hp as states on the website and the back up camera lighting issue) and they could only done by dealer’s computer and I have refused to do it cuz I don’t wanna lose that small 8hp lol. third one is the second battery issue which has been fixed during my first service.
