Being handy is such a blessing! My husband and I have owned our house for 4 years and we’ve never had to call anyone out to fix anything. We’ve fixed the water heater, clogged plumbing, the ac, the washer and dryer… The list goes on an on! Google is the best 🤣

Google is a godsend and RUclips is amazing! I'm older so my first few houses were pre-internet. It was all fly by the seat of your pants or wait for the library and/or hardware store to open if you couldn't figure it out. Smaller, locally owned hardware stores were (and still are) the best - they actually knew what they were talking about and gave great advice and instructions. My husband was ZERO help on any of it - he had to ask which way to turn the screwdriver every. single. time. 😂

Being a pool owner myself, one piece of advice I can give you is to get a pool cover ( preferably one with pool bolts so you can prevent leaves and other debris from getting into the pool). For winter always lower the water to about 3/4 of the pool height. It’s better to winterize it every year for maintenance. Hope this helps!

Did you get a home warranty when you purchased the house, If not ask the realtor if it was offered. American Home shield or First American among others offer home warranty that covers pools, appliances, roof leaks and many other options. We just had a dryer go out and the policy covered it all we paid was 75.00. Might find it beneficial to have a warranty that covers pools and pump they covered all parts after the freeze so it only cost 75.00 for a 4500 repair.

Can I ask - why wouldn't you just use one of the big bedrooms upstairs for a master? There's lots of closet room up there and a full bathroom. I get that it isn't an ensuite but practically eventually you'd be close to the nursery (trust me - necessary), Romeo wouldn't have to lug inventory up and down the stairs and the W/D would be close to his workspace which is again, so practical for him. You could use the big closet down there for your DIY stuff vs trying to make it work upstairs. The office would be in your living space and your bedrooms would be separate. It just sort of makes sense?

Good job MaCenna!!! Maybe that bedroom could be Romeo's office....and upstairs could be your master. also you said there was no bathroom for guests on main floor...so if Romeo's office is where you've put the master, your guests will have a bathroom on the main floor! Right? The bathroom off of the now master!

I hope you see this!!!! PLEASE do something in your pool that will help Kinsley if she falls in the pool. Very recently, my husband’s family dog fell in the pool when no one was around and unfortunately drowned. They have inserts you can put into the pool along the perimeter that’s like a ramp so that if she falls in and gets to the edge she can climb her way out. Something to think about. You never know when the worst will happen 😫

Fyi the pump to your pool has an overflow connection. When you learn to use it you can turn your pump on and open that connection and it will drain from the pump.

Dogs drown in swimming pools because they don't know where the stairs are located to climb out. Their nose is pointed up in the air when swimming. Place a flag on a tall poll and teach them to swim to the flag.

To drain your pool, set the pump to backwash. Drain your pool a couple of inches and set the pump back to filter. For the moss, use white vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray it on a dry day, and it will kill it in a day or two. Thank you, MaCenna! I always look forward to your videos. You are my inspiration!!!

I work in retail and if you ever need more space you should move all the jackets back to the bottom, use the rack for shorter items like tanks/shorts and then use the shelf space for t-shirts or pant folds, or even knit sweaters that would get ruined by the hangers!

Hi MaCenna love the new house. Idk why but I’m my head I see the down stairs bedroom being an office. Hear me out lol it’s the only downstairs restroom so guest would have to go threw your bedroom to use it. Plus when Romeo is bring In merchandise for his business he’s going to have to carry everything upstairs. Then when the baby comes lol if you all slept upstairs it would be easy to be right next to the babies room. So the whole upstairs would be your own part of the house. Just a thought I do see why you choose to the rooms you did well thanks so sharing

    Advice for pool:
    -get a pool cover!
    - it will not always be clear blue all the time, its alot of maintenance and adding either chlorine or salt solutions. You might also need to get "shock".
-do research and google about how to maintain a pool because there's more to it than you think...
