    Make sure to pack a first night box that has everything you might need during your first (and possibly second) night in the new house - fresh sheets, towels, scissors, batteries, chargers, lightbulbs, coffee, etc. Doing this was a lifesaver for me during my last move!

    I know my suggestion won’t matter but…
    May I just suggest that you make the ground floor room as the office/studio instead? Because that would make so much more sense when you have guests over, they can use the bathroom without having to go through your bedroom.
    Also, you’d want to stay near the baby’s room upstairs eventually. Trust me on that 😅
    The kitchen/ dining room could probably improve in space. If you’re open to just putting down that wall dividing the two spaces, then it would make so much more open space and gives you more room to entertain while cooking etc.
    Anyways! Congratulations on your new home!!

    • @katl6428
      @katl6428 Год назад +6

      I would also use one of the bedroom upstairs due to noise. My partners and I's current bedroom also leads off right from our living room. I usually go to bed earlier/my Partner sleeps in longer. Theres so much noise and light coming through a door opposed to a wall, its crazy. Its very inconvenient I think.

      Agree on all this, and adding too that we had our previous main bedroom right off our kitchen before and it was awful. Having your sleeping space right next to your main living space is bad for nights when there’s company, when you’re sick, or just want some space.

    • @linatrevino272
      @linatrevino272 Год назад +6

    Ahhhh i’m so happy for you 🥹🥹
    I had an idea and wanted to say it out loud lol what if you guys turned the downstairs “bedroom” into an office/DIY studio? You have the washer and dryer right there for Romeo’s thrifted finds. A bathroom as well is right there for you MaCenna for DIY projects and to wash your hands if you need it. Also if all your power tools will be in the garage, it would also be quicker and easier access from the downstairs DIY room. And since you have a tub in the upstairs bathroom, you could put a dreamy tub in there and make it your primary bath and bedroom across the hall? Just a thought! Can’t wait to see all the move in updates and decorating vlogs 🥹❤️❤️

    Congratulations, I love the house!! So happy for you three 🥰
    I might have a little suggestion, that you can completely ignore but I thought I would share it.😊Perhaps used Romeo's room as your bedroom if you are thinking about a nursery, you probably want to keep it close at night. Plus two wardrobes for you both. And it's dark and cosy with all the wondeful trees outside. I would love to sleep there. And maybe the downstairs bedroom to be Rome's room, with the washer and dryer just there. Plus it could double as an extra bedroom when new family has arrived and o mum is coming over. Plus it might feel better to have guest use the downstairs bathroom if it was not in your bedroom. Then make the garage into Macennas business (if it's not needed for cars).
    Wonderful to have you back!

    • @StudioSeferlis
      @StudioSeferlis Год назад

      Or if you really want the room downstairs you could move just the washing machine and dryer to somewhere you could easily install it upstairs and make the current spot Romeo’s closet. Could make more sense in that case.

    • @StudioSeferlis
      @StudioSeferlis Год назад

      @@denisejones1863 Yeah I get not wanting it in the garage as it may feel a bit too disconnected to the house, or even a bit dirty for your clean laundry. But upstairs in a closet close to a bathroom where you can easily pull plumbing from could perhaps be an option.

    A tip for saving on moving boxes. Call the overnight assistant manager at stores such as Wal-Mart, Target, Home Depot and ask them to set aside whatever number of cardboard boxes you need and the specific sizes. As they stock shelves they will set aside those for you to pick up in the morning. You can also call during the day but a lot of stores do the bulk of stocking overnight. Also, large Ikea bags are fantastic for moving and they are pretty strong.

    I have a couple of suggestions.......for what they are worth. The primary one is to reconsider the primary suite if you plan to have kids in the future, the child(ren) will be scared being so far away, but also having to trek up and down stairs during their formative years will definately take its toll on "Mom and Dad". The second suggestion is about how to eliminate curtains on the french doors. There is a spray frosting product that will give privacy, but also allow the light. Worth considering.

    Congratulations to your new home! Really happy for you. Honestly speaking l do not really understand the distribution of the rooms. I would make the upstairs a private area. Bedroom and nursery. You will be happy to be close to the kid during the nights. As someone from Europe I also really don‘t understand the American hype on the on-suite. As you don‘t like the situation regarding the laundry next to the bedroom I would make the downstairs bedroom the guest/office space. This way guests will be able to also use the downstairs toilet during the day and don’t need to go upstairs all the time or pass through your bedroom. Anyways I‘m looking forward to what you will make out of the place and for sure I will watch every video!

    Very excited for your new home and the adventures to come! If I may, please be conscientious if you intend to flip houses in the future. Studies in urban areas, incl. NYC/Brooklyn and Austin, indicate that house flipping takes affordable homes off the market *and* impacts the affordability of rentals in small homes; this disproportionally effects BIPOC families. You're a kind person, so I know you'll keep these factors in mind. Right now, I hope you're enjoying your new space!

    Why did the power go out though??? With all the electrical grid issues in California plus all the government corruption I would've run the other way to stay in Texas or nearly anywhere else. Hope things work out for you.

    Love the new intro! Also I am a book lover so for those things that were just gonna get too heavy. I kinda found a hack. I thrift big suitcases for like 5-10 bucks and put all my books in those since they have sturdy handles and wheels. I know you already moved but still a great hack!

    Oh, the joys of moving.
    My husband and I moved TWICE last year. We moved back to TX from GA in Jan 2022, then from Rowlett to Ft Worth in December, all while going to school full-time and being my husband's full-time caretaker (he's got end-stage kidney disease).

    I love your new home! One thing I would suggest if you plan on having a baby soon is to use the Mama room as your primary bedroom and the smaller bedroom as the nursery and reserving the current primary suite as Romeo’s office/whatever room. You’re not going to want to be that far way from your young child, imho

    I love that you are calling the house Rosie. Wow the house has so much storage you could put all your things that are in storage unit neatly in the new home and save money not paying for the storage unit, $$$$ towards the new home xxxx

    Will you be getting rid of the storage unit and finding room for all you stuff at the new house?

  • @Moms1958
    @Moms1958 Год назад +1

    Yes you over thought there moving process . Also rubber maid bins work well for bedding and clothes then you have storage bins in your new home .
    Secondly, buying boxes? Go to a liquor store and ask for boxes . Smaller is easier to move around . Also pack by room and label so when you move in you can put the boxes where they are needed.
    I’ve moved 33 times in 37 years. We can do it in our skeep😂

      These days I'd buy boxes, too. (Actually, I have for the last 15 years) Boxes from dumpsters, grocery stores and liquor stores can bring all kinds of unwanted hitchhikers along, like bedbugs or roaches or even just their eggs so they look clean, but aren't. I wouldn't take that chance.

    MISTAKE! Small boxes for books and don't put them all in the same box. If you do, it'll be too heavy to move. Been there, done that! I loaded too many photo albums in the same box and I couldn't move it at all. Even my neighbor and brother said it was too heavy.

    Don't forget to mark the boxes with whats in it. Also, something I've always done when packing, when a cabinet, drawer, closet is empty I put a post-it not it on it, otherwise, I know me, I would look in the cabinet, drawer, closet another 10 times. Have fun!!
