    • @jootai

      From what I've seen
      Sony has beter pictures. Better auto focus. Better low light foto and film.
      More lenses.
      Fuji has more image stabilization.
      Faster shooting
      4k60 overampled no crop
      4k120 mode
      A lot less rolling shutter
      Pro ress
      Would be cool to see a real world performance comparison.
      If fuji was let's say 750 cheaper it would be a winner for sure. Now it has to battle a full frame.

    This is the camera I’ve been waiting for, to upgrade from my X-T2 setups.
    Hopefully I can convince work to get me one and a vertical battery grip. The X-H2s has some great new features, especially stuff like internal ProRes and FLog2. Have you tried producing HDR video with it?

    Great review! I've been an XH-1 shooter since it was released, and I'm psyched about the upgrade. I'm mostly a still photographer (portraits, headshots, events), but have also been doing a ton of video over the past two years. Not quite ready to jump to an actual cinema camera yet, and just a big fan of the Fuji system. Still going to wait a bit to purchase the XH-2s, as I'm curious about the other version that has yet to be released (40mp).

    • @ThomasBusbyPhotography
      @ThomasBusbyPhotography  2 года назад

      It seems as though the 40mp will have no PASM mode dial, no stacked sensors (so much slower AF/video capabilities) but 40mp so maybe a jump in still quality

    The change from the front focusing switch to a button is good if you use a cage. I have my X-T4 in a small rig cage and flipping that front little dial leaver is very hard.

  • @OneDegreeLife

    13:05, Yep, I ALWAYS had issues with the button aspect of the dials. I can understand why losing the button would be annoying for some users, but I find that feature absolutely maddening on my X-T3. Every time I try to use it as a command wheel, I find that in order to get enough pressure to turn it (doesn't stick out a lot and not very grippy "teeth") it ends up depressing the button component. So I'm always "selecting" settings while trying to progress through them. It drives me nuts. Haven't seen a way to disable the button aspect in the menu - could be missing something. I really like how Nikon has always done their dials. For me, this is nice touch.

    • @ThomasBusbyPhotography
      @ThomasBusbyPhotography  2 года назад

      I am very sure under the FN button settings in the menu you can disable that button so it does nothing

    • @OneDegreeLife
      @OneDegreeLife 2 года назад +1

      @@ThomasBusbyPhotography I know that setting will disable the performance while shooting, but that's not where I have the issue. I actually think mine is set to zoom for focus checking when in use.
      In the Quick menu, however, the joy stick and D-pad move between categories/items, but the rear dial toggles the settings within the item, say, image quality - directional pad and joystick will navigate TO image quality, but the dial is used to shift between Raw, jpeg, etc., even if the Fn is disabled while shooting.
      When I intend to move through the settings, I inadvertently select something prematurely, most of the time. If you have a fix for this, I'd love to hear it, but it's kind of a pain.
      Excellent video though, man. Really appreciate the comparisons and your thoughts. First time I saw one discussing the button change difference.

    • @ThomasBusbyPhotography
      @ThomasBusbyPhotography  2 года назад

      Ohhh so not while shooting but when using the Q menu to change settings.
      I’ve never bumped them there but it makes a lot more sense as to how you could.
      Only solution I could think of is on the xh2s (and hopefully to holder models via firmware) you can set a fn button to disable command wheels.
      BUT I don’t know how this would function in the quick menu etc or if it even will come via firmware to older models etc

    • @OneDegreeLife
      @OneDegreeLife 2 года назад +1

      @@ThomasBusbyPhotography Correct! Doesn't bother me in shooting, but how it's used in the Q menu is nuts. I've disabled the button, but it only does the Fn setting and not the SELECTION setting apparently. If they made it where you could turn it off there and then use the joy stick to navigate and the D-pad for sub settings that would be great. No idea. Ha.

    • @ThomasBusbyPhotography
      @ThomasBusbyPhotography  2 года назад

      Turns out preshot has been around for a while in fuji which is why no one else has.
      I no longer have it to check focus bracketing sorry, but as fuji cameras have had this for years I would really doubt they’d remove it

    • @woodyw9798
      @woodyw9798 2 года назад +1

      Yes, I was aware of that but with all that processing power now on tap I was hopeful it would process the bracketed shots internally. As an X-T2 owner (and X-T1) I held off pitching the T3 and T4, refusing to buy into the marketing hype around the C-AF tracking . *Finally* it looks like Fuji has got a seat at the table in that respect which for me is critical. I still don't accept that the AF setup should be as complicated as Fuji makes it and Sony proves that!

    • @ThomasBusbyPhotography
      @ThomasBusbyPhotography  2 года назад

      Ohhh ok that I didn’t check and would also doubt sorry.
      Fujifilm autofocus also jumps up to a higher level with the right lens.
      When they started by really solely focusing on just photography it has limited the video AF a lot

    I'm not sure about the X-H2s myself but I hope that an X-T5 will come that will be more photography focussed, offer the tilting screen, and still have the same new object-tracking AF!
    An AF that would do object tracking and pre-focusing on selected objects, that I think would be really great!

      I think the XT5 will have a very similar body to the XT4 with a flippy screen.
      I think Fuji is telling ''Photographer'' to go with the Xpro or GFX if they want a photographer first experience. Although, saying that the XT4 is not a great photo camera just because of a hinge on a screen is just laughable.

      During testing the biggest zoom lens I own is the 50-140 so that fantail shoot you witnessed was as close as I could get and I didn’t really feel was a great test to af in regards to your historic issue, though my test of a dog running at me etc was a HUGE step up and is something I compared on both cameras

      I think where a lot of people go wrong with ibis is using it with 3rd party lenses and with the digital part of it turned on.
      Digital is fine if you’re stationary but when moving etc just ibis (and lens IS) is great.
      BUT I also want to stress I would never recommend relying on any ibis from any brand, unless combined with things like 120fps and/or a gimbal etc, but that might just be my own picky personal taste

    Hope you can clear this up for me... Is a stills related question. I see some reports that state that Fuji has kept with the standard 3:2, 1:1 and 16:9 rations for this camera, whilst others state that Fuji has bought across the ratios from the GFX line.. 1:1, 3:2, 4:3, 5:4, 7:6, 16:9, 65:24
    As a GFX user, I love this and use 5:4 most of the time. Seems like such an easy thing to implement and am still unsure why other manufacturers do not do it... Any idea what aspect ratios it has? Thanks! :)

    I do have to laugh, I like the gripe of the PASM dial... but then admit it's also better, this is so Fuji xD ahahhaa. If you had analogue dials instead then it's locking the camera down too severely and heavily nerf the feature set of the powerhouse camera. PASM(and C1-7) totally makes more sense here, hybrid shooting with the XT4 and doing stills in various genres is a nightmare tbh.

      @SummersSnaps 2 года назад +1

      @@ThomasBusbyPhotography I'm 100% positive that will happen. The only thing I am hesitant about is how it will all 'work'. I wonder if they will reduce the price and omit some features as to my mind having all this tech with a simplistic analogue interface is a bit odd, like putting an unnecessary barrier to accessing and utilizing the camera properly.
      In some ways I would like to see the XT/Xpro Analog style become heavy stills orientated cameras with little to no video (and priced far FAR lower accordingly), and the XH range to being the hybrid ones. If the XT5 retails for a similar price with the XH features then I worry how well it will do :S
      The only saving grace it seems is that many that use the Analog style do not fully understand these implications and seem not put off by operating (potentially) a feature rich camera like the XH from a nerfed perspective.
