Regarding the PASM dial the - X-H2 is worse than the X-T5. I have my X-T5 setup with one button on the back. I then have 7 separate custom settings for photo, and 7 custom settings for video. For both video and photo it has ALL settings. Even better they are all labelled - which they are not on the PASM dial. I tried the X-H2 first, then tried to the X-T5. The Custom settings alone made me send the X-H2 back. It is way more usable than the X-H2 - no one is mentioning this.

Good stuff. I picked up the XH2 and the XT5. The viewfinder on the XH2 blows away the XT5. Also, if you end up getting an XT5, be prepared to get a handgrip. I got a SmallRig one. Without it, there’s basically no depth to the grip, unlike the XH2. Can’t beat the retro look of the XT5, though.

I own older/used both A6500 and Xt3 as a hobbiest. The XT3 ($700) rolling shutter is much (9 ms) better then the current line-up from Sony's below $3000 or Panasonic's S5II (>20 ms). I actually prefer my Sony's for phot, because of the tiny body and more natural hues, but the video rolling shutter and low data/bit rates got me into Fuji. I like both in RAW, but video is just a different beast. Granted my camera's are older, but I'm not really into Sony's JPEG engine.

This video (and many others) is why I've given up on 'digital' and gone back to film. With all the different settings, buttons, dials and choices of ISO, white balance, burst rates, predictive auto-focusing, multi-segment metering and so on - by the time you've finished messing about with it, whatever you wanted to photograph has f**ked off! Besides, at 42 million pixels (shooting RAW files) you'd need the CRAY super-computer to process/edit/photoshop them all. Digital (for me at least) has sucked the fun out of photography. Having said all that, I'm 62 and probably what many would call an 'old fart' living in a dead and buried analogue past. Which would also be true.

    • @jasonberkmanphotography8672

I hear you! I’m 51 and started with film. Much like with music production, everything was analog. I love that I can take 1,000 photos and get that instant gratification of being able to look at and edit those photos when I get home, and I don’t have to pay someone to developer 24 photos at a time for dozens of dollars a pop.
I also wanted to stay relevant and be able to make money in Photography., soooo…I had to go digital.
Funifilm brings me back to film style, looks with the cameras and the film simulations. It brings the old guy film look for guys like you and I and has the new tech for the wiper snappers that need it all.
I appreciate your comment and agree in a lot of way.. Unfortunately I’ve fallen inlove with and are slightly addicted to the ease of use amd the crazy tech:)

My first Fujifilm camera was the XT3, I have other camera bodies from Pentax, Panasonic and Olympus, l use my cameras for photography, the flip out screen is okay but I do prefer the XT3 screen for photography, it is also better when the camera is on a tripod. I photographe a lot of different subjects that require glass that covers wide angle to telephoto, my favorite wildlife lens is a 100100-400mm on a crop sensor camera. This lens by Fujifilm beats my older Sigma 100100-400mm but the XT3 body is not a good match with this lens, the XH2 is the perfect match with this lens or any of the other larger Fujifilm lens, the thing is that I still love shooting with the XT body, when the XT5 was released it was like the XT3 but so much more improved, I don't use the XT3 grip, I have a l bracket that has a slightly larger grip to both bodies and if I have to put the camera on a tripod its ready to go.

But you made some really good points on the H2....lol. So now....which one? I guess one of the questions comes down to the articulating screen. Just my opinion, there is no right or wrong when itcomes to an individual users needs, I shot with the xpro 2 for years. The flat screen never affected my candids among strangers. There is enough viewing angle to see enough of the framing lines. If you can read your dash in your car while driving on a flat panel, if you can see your tv screen while beside it...I think the fold out screen gets a bit too much comment as a deal breaker. I hear people saying they need it for shooting from the hip...how low are you shooting and how often in your everyday candid images is necessary? For creative purposes I can understand it. When you are pushing that angle, the subject is still 99% of the time. In that candid moment, its the moment that is important, not low angle.
I agree it is each to their own. I owned the xpor 2, but wouldn't use the xpro 3 purely because of the screen. I am just saying this discussion gets blown a bit out of proportion to the amount of images that need to be taken on the fly, from the hip, where perfect positioning is needed.

Nice video. I think that XT5 is missing too many things to be a Photography first camera ( high res evf and lcd compared to H2 series, vertical grip for me important for photography). So you are obliged as an upgrade to go to the H2 series that both are more video centric. It was better that they differentiate the H2 series one for photography and one for video. So you could argue that you like the dials on the XT5 and that the video function is convenient: but wasn’t a photography first camera? If it has too be good for video too then why release an XS20? I think that Fujifilm still is confused on the models to offer…Coming from an XT4 and not interested on video, I will skip this generation hoping that on the next the different segments of cameras will be more user specific (photo, video,Vlog).

A lot about this video doesn't make sense to me. Full frame and medium format offers better S/N and modern options are higher resolution (60 and 100mp respectively), so if raw image quality on shorter lenses was your goal, the 40mp fuji is certainly very good, but is not the optimal camera for your intended use.
The only time crop sensors start to beat full frame is at the telephoto end, where the performance density of the crop sensor out-paces the full frame and the full-frame is just shooting "wider" than the intended result on similar size/cost glass. If you're cropping in post anyway for telework, that's where crop sensors win. For the kind of photography you're talking about here, shooting on a 50mm f1.0 on aps-c, , a Sony 61mp with the 85mm f1.4 or even 1.8 would deliver better images. A Fuji GFX 100S with a 110mm f2 would offer a similar sort of shooting capability and more than double the resolution with lower noise.

I think auto focus is on sony but god damn this agresive modern body design looks the best. Sony is cool because they might heva more capable camera but they are ugly and expensive. I would rether go for this.

40mp is completely useless unless you are doing billboard ads. You miss out on the open gate and 14 stops of dynamic range you get with the x-h2s.

    Should I get:
    A7RV + Tamron 50-400 =1.878kg, or
    XT5 + 18-300 (27-450) =1.177kg, or
    G9 II+ Leica 50-200 (100-400) =1.313kg
    mainly for photo,
    + Panasonic HC-X1500 25-600 camcorder + Zoom M3 mic for video
    + iPhone 15 13-52 for pocketable pic&vid?
    Like:
    A7RV: 4 ways screen, croppable
    XT5: dedicated dials experience
G9 II: 300 fps slow motion, my favorite yellow color theme in the menu!
    Dislike:
A7RV: not all video full sensor readout
XT5: try to look like film than real life even the standard Provia
G9II: potentially the side way screen for photography
    Uses:
Document everyday, travel, RUclips, shoot video with the camera mostly when I need to, shoot SOOC JPG / HEIF mostly, personal projects include street and mall shoot with the full person in frame with blur background, all these super tele can get blur enough to achieve it?
Tamron 18-300 can be just one lens to do it all but reviews showed quality control seem not consistent, Leica 50-200 isn't close enough for everyday isn't it, Tamron 50-400 is good but is the weight ok to carry everyday?
Should I get ultrawide zoom too for everyday carry or just use the iPhone?
    Sony 16-35 F4 PZ / 7A 9mm F5.6,
    Sony 10-20 F4 PZ / SIGMA 10-18 F2.8,
    Leica 8-18 F2.8-4 / Leica 9mm F1.7.
I didn't consider smaller camera because I think better get actual pant pocketable camera like Sony RX100 series or go proper size because camera in between still need a bag to carry yet doesn't have good handling and EVF like the not much bigger size A7RV.
I curious about macro and micro world, but I can just google them right as specialist will do that for us and even if I shoot, they will be more or less the same? Does magnification ratio need to multiple crop sensor ratio? If need to multiple, does the object will appear as it's true size no matter if it's full frame or MFT if the final mag ratio is 1:1?
Is there a way to make the in camera JPG output colors match Hasselblad Natural Color Science of these camera? Is there a way to change the orange theme to yellow theme in Sony menu, with accessibility functions maybe?
Is the Zoom M3 mic good? What's the best way to get surround sounds audio and mono shotgun when I want to? To get stereo but the sound in center screen clear, better have a 3 channels setup where 2 for stereo and 1 for mono shotgun? Or 4 channels with 2 points forward and 2 point backward? Sennheiser MKE 440 patented stereo mic marketed as it make the sound from center screen clearer, is it really only possible with it or just adjust stereo mic at that angle will get same result, that mic is just more compact and one piece V shape?

Not sure what you are doing. I have a Sony A7R IV and my X-T5 produces results on par. Even my Fuji X-E4 can keep up.
It depends on the glass more than the camera. X-T5 I use a Tamron 17-70 f2 and Fuji 70-300. Both sharp across the Fram and virtually no CA.
If you have older Fuji glass an upgrade is needed because the 40 mp sensor needs more resolving power.
