The Fuj is has better greens, better DR leading to better blues in the sky, better overall color science, it's lighter, faster, better rolling shutter, better stab (IMHO), higher res (26mp vs 12mp) and WAY cheaper. As for the crappy animal AF, this is a brand new feature on a just released camera, and they are excellent about kaizen improvements (another plus for Fuj), which will probably address a lot of the other small stuff. For anything outside wildlife, I don't see how you can beat the Fuj for under $4k. I'd like to see the XH2S vs Canon R5C.
@@editarts1 Agreed the R5c is in a whole different league in many ways, but it also falls behind the XH2S in some very important ways, mainly; terrible battery life, flimsy micro HDMI port, no IBIS, heavy, big, very expensive with very expensive lenses. Although the XH2S can't hit the upper bounds of the R5C in terms of resolution, and bit depth, how many people are actually going to shoot anything ever @ 8k 12-bit? Most people will be shooting in 4k, maybe 6.2 down sampled or cropped to 4k, or even 1080. At these resolutions, the gap between the XH2S and R5C starts to narrow. They both have similar dynamic range, great color science, great image quality, good codecs, good AF, etc.....but again, the XH2S has the advantage of very good battery life, good IBIS, a real HDMI port, and it's lighter and smaller (especially after you factor that you pretty much NEED to rig up the R5C). I still think the R5C would probably look a bit better overall and edge out the XH2S, but from the vast amount of footage I've seen from both, the XH2S might pull a surprise upset.
I thought stabilization was better in Fuji, I don't know if it's right but you were very carefully stepping while testing Sony but not in Fuji test. But 240fps is just so bad what the hell Fuji.
You should go and spend a week with Phillip Bloom, I can’t bear to see you struggle but I guess that’s the point. I think you should make a mini movie using different cameras for some continuity fun.
Fuji keeps up very well today. Considering how much less you can get Fuji gear. I'd say they're pretty competitive. Sometimes the Sony colors are better but most of the time Fuji was nicer. Neutral on Sony was pretty good. Other than some focus issue at the beginning... Fuji was very solid.
Fuji isn't all that cheap if you factor in equivalent lenses. Their new primes are stellar, but build quality is inconsistent (different ring feel across the 18, 23, 33). 33mm is less sharp than a cheaper Nikon Z 50mm f1.8. Fuji 16-55 costs the same price as a Sigma 24-70 f2.8 or Sony 24-105 f4 with lens stab.
@@AsuquoTravelsProductions Apart from the 13mm and maybe the 85, the rest are really poor in terms of optical quality, and Sigma offers better valued lenses on the e-mount for fairly close prices, especially on the used market.
@@AsuquoTravelsProductions We're talking about $2500+ cameras here, optical quality is all that matters. Nobody should be buying $200 lenses for their $2500 camera. Most of Fuji's high end lenses are just objectively bad value compared to full frame offerings.
0:36 you can see very good - the sony has still more dynamic range (all the details in the clouds where the fuji did not see clouds and paint it just blue). - you also see that the white balance for the sony is off to the warm side. And white balance has a hughe impact on colors. Like the "wow so blue" sky and straps and blacks and reds and the greeeeens - And you see that the fuji also is set to a higher contrast and more saturation. - Just go to PP1 (what is the same like PP off) and add contrast and saturation. Then film with the correct white balance. (and try N-Log lut on S-log3. Darken the blacks a bit and add some saturation. sony never looked better.)
Fuji has better color and exposure. The focusing in the beginning is a little alarming. Not sure they are near Sony level. Every time I think about buying the Sony over the Fuj though, I just need to watch one of your videos and shudder. It's pretty crummy looking. All I want is the perfect camera...sigh....
Agreed on the oddities of how each camera exposes the subject. The Fuj appears, at least in YT, to have some 'extra' level of contrast baked in (is this all FLog ?). When you walk into the shade though, it looks quite nice. Otherwise the darks are, I dunno, maybe a tad bit much - personal pref. The face tones appeared to edge toward the magenta in certain cases ( yet the orange of the shirt was probably correct - I'd be curious what your vector scope shows). On the Sony front - I'm not a fan of S-Cinebone. I don't think it's any wonderful in-camera solution to Sony colors. It's f'ing magenta, too. Grading SLog3 is far easier for me (and I can for the most part, camera match it). I've learned to trust it and can simply concentrate on exposure and DoF (yeah, I use a monitor to apply a custom lut tha..... wait, not vlogger useful :)). You really DO need solid in-camera color and DR. Maybe handhold an Arri (read: monkey strength for the delts) ? Wait, no 240p for you. And you might separate your shoulder holding that rig at arm's length.......dang. And I thought jiu-jitsu was rough on 'em.
How do you do this test? How do you setup cameras? What kind of log (Sony log s2,s3, Fuji flog 1 or 2), how do you normalize log? In what color space? I saw faster this video because most of bla bla bla was about his impression and not a tech test. I use to manage different cameras and different brand and to find real difference you should start from a common point of exposure, white balance, and more… also for autofocus test he use lenses with different value, that influence a lot the result.
Also Sony sensor captures about 1 stop of light more than fuji, so you need to lower some settings on the sony to match exposures. Look how the sky is blownout and overall the image looks more washed out, it's because of that.
I always set manual white balance and color grading SONY's footage after shooting, the original skin tone on SONY is just like a nightmare. But for the Fuji , well just relax and enjoy shooting
It seems like there's around 1 more stop of latitude, which has also been confirmed by CineD. You can clearly see how much more detail is there in both shadows and highlights.
I think you need to have the same tonyature to compare slowmo quality though. Still, I may complain, but I love these comparisons and I pray for a GH6 to be added to the mix one day still.
You could clearly see that the autofocus issue he had at the beginning was either a human error by him or the lens he was using because when he switched to the 18mm he never had such issues. I have the XH2S and I don’t have such issues.
@@AsuquoTravelsProductions probebly yes but i’ve seen hunting in multiple videos. I assume this is because there using old lenses but my current workflow cant afford waiting for them to refresh there lens line up. So wether it is the camera or the lenses it makes it a non starter for me.

I’ll stick with sony for another generation before considering a swap back to fuji.

fuji is a lot darker, in my test i found fuji to be 1 stop darker, that's why sony looks so flat and yucky because it's overexposed, while fuji has some dark shadows. dynamic range is better on the sony if you expose them right
solid video, F - Log, really F log profiles, i use neutral in sony and eterna in fuji, screw screwing around with these logs. WHY NOT just vlog with the new 18 F1.4 that has the improved autofocus for a "more" fair comparison VS using the old arthritic Fuji lenses ?
I was saying the same thing. I have the XH2S and use it with the new Tamron and I don’t have such issues. If he his so crazy for way lenses he can as well get the Viltrox 13mm.
The very scientific review is level 10000. I honestly don’t know if I should buy the xh2 or not but that’s not the point anymore. But “we learned something” Still trying to figure out what “we” learned… lol Great video bro!
If you are basing your buying options on this video then you are in the wrong place. I will suggest you rent or buy the camera to test for yourself. Also he was using the 10 years old outdated Fuji 8-16mm instead of staying with the more modern 18mm. I have the XH2S and love it. I don’t have any regrets as the autofocus keeps up with my video needs even in lowlight
I’ve noticed that there is a bug every now and then if you turn the camera on the AF will be back focused and won’t respond until you turn it off and back on and then it should be money. I’m sure this will get ironed out in a FW update
I’d never buy a Fuji at initial launch for 2 reasons: 1) they never work right and occasionally get fixed with future firmware upgrades and 2) they typically discount the price (sometimes by a lot) if the camera does not sell well (like this one)
I honestly don’t think there was a camera issue as most of what I see in his video are human errors and lens choices. He should stay with his 18mm or get the Tamron 17-70 or the Viltrox 13mm. The 8-16mm is not a good lens as it can’t keep up with the new Fuji XH2S AF system.
Don't forget that the Sony is in slog3 and he might not be doing a correct s.gamut3.cine to rec709 transform correctly. The colors look like crap especially the greens on the Sony, but that could be down to improper post-processing.
I own both A7siii and XT4 (soon getting Xh2s) and I used Eterna and S-Cinetone extensively. Gotta say "testing" DR with color profiles is silly. Roughly speaking, S-Cinetone gets you 60-70% of DR A7siii is capable of while Eterna gets you 80-90% of what Fuji cameras are capable of. Eterna is pretty closer to log footage with its low contrast and subtle pleasing colors where as S-Cinetone is of high contrast and crushes shadows. Totally different looks to even compare. Even Neutral on Sony isn't as flat as Eterna. The only way to "test" for DR is to shoot in log and from lab tests we know both these cameras yield about the same 12+ stops of DR which is pretty impressive for consumer cameras (We could get a stop or two more by shooting in Raw exteenally and doing the nouse reduction ourselves). For comparison, Canon R5 and R5c is still at 10,11 stops despite oversampling from 8k.
@@cameraconspiracies I can see value in this for someone who is thinking to get one of these cameras who wont shoot log and want to know which one gets them better DR straight.... S Cinetone or Eterna. That's a very valid question to have and your video answers it.... It's Eterna, even before Xh2s is released. However, I just want to emphasize how this is different from the camera's Dynamic Range itself. Shoutout for making these videos though. I'm liking these Sony Fuji videos lately.
I still think the bad 240fps is a video format problem. I would try different configurations to see if you can get better results. There are like a million formats that you can record in with different bitrates, and Fuji didn’t curate it and the user can totally fuck up by assigning incompatible formats with bitrates and visa versa.
My personal camera is a Fuson. The fuson was birthed, as a result of. A person dropping a fuji camera and then a Sony camera. Into a particle collider.
You probably tapped the focus mode selector button. And because it wasn't getting the additional input to actually change modes it timed out and went back to AF but didn't AF while waiting for the joystick input. Anyway, if you're not keeping it for wildlife just sell it and get the cheaper X-H2 for the vlog stuff. None of the old non-LM lenses are ever going to be able to catch up with the X-H2S' capabilites, it's 150-600 or nothing for wildlife, and the 90mm F2 for concerts

As for the crappy animal AF, this is a brand new feature on a just released camera, and they are excellent about kaizen improvements (another plus for Fuj), which will probably address a lot of the other small stuff. For anything outside wildlife, I don't see how you can beat the Fuj for under $4k. I'd like to see the XH2S vs Canon R5C.
man r5c is a monstrous 8k12 bit badaas.it is the king.its not in the xh2s a7s3-4 range.damn those rf lenses are way expensive
I agree the Fuji IBIS was way better in the video and also for 240p I think he needs to check is settings and the bitrate he’s selecting for that.
@@AsuquoTravelsProductions in whatever settings and bitrate I have tried the 240fps was just crap.
Sony is just the cinema
You should go and spend a week with Phillip Bloom, I can’t bear to see you
struggle but I guess that’s the point.
I think you should make a mini movie using different cameras for some
continuity fun.
The focusing issues at the beginning was either because of the type of lens he was using or human error.
@@professionalpotato4764 There are prime lenses from Viltrox for Fuji that cost between $200-400.
Loving the Fuji and Sony content, big fella 🔥
still prefer sony x3000
I love the fuji system the stacked Xtrans sensor is a marvel , their lens line up is strong
That 2:11 sequence is G.O.L.D
0:36 you can see very good
- the sony has still more dynamic range (all the details in the clouds where the fuji did not see clouds and paint it just blue).
- you also see that the white balance for the sony is off to the warm side. And white balance has a hughe impact on colors. Like the "wow so blue" sky and straps and blacks and reds and the greeeeens
- And you see that the fuji also is set to a higher contrast and more saturation.
- Just go to PP1 (what is the same like PP off) and add contrast and saturation. Then film with the correct white balance.
(and try N-Log lut on S-log3. Darken the blacks a bit and add some saturation. sony never looked better.)
I'll admit Sony really stepped it up with their colors, but Fuji is still king. Sony still doesn't know how to do skin tones.
In testing, Sony's colour tends to be the most accurate of any camera manufacturer.
Oh they let you out for the day. How wonderful..... can't beat a bit of charismatic photography. Splendid stuff Sir!
Cain reference is a Camera vlog. Noice! 👍👍
Crazy how easy I spotted that the Fuji looks better, but Sony has a touch better Dynamic range. Fuji wins for overall look for sure!
Amazing Sony! I know it has a manual color dictionary similar to the latest Xperia line. It wins for me...
Wow the dynamic range on fuji is very good!
One Tip with Sony! Shoot 500-1000 Kelvin lower than normal temperature, sony has a warmer sensor giving you grey skies
Also Sony sensor captures about 1 stop of light more than fuji, so you need to lower some settings on the sony to match exposures. Look how the sky is blownout and overall the image looks more washed out, it's because of that.
whenever there's a problem with the image on this channel i immediately assume user error
The Sony looks "milky" and the Fuji looks crisp or sharp...to me.
A7SIII seems superior other than the colours but neutral toned down looks good other than the crushed blacks
When the butterfly scenes came up, I was thinking you should start filming 3d content with these two setups.🤣
I always set manual white balance and color grading SONY's footage after shooting, the original skin tone on SONY is just like a nightmare. But for the Fuji , well just relax and enjoy shooting
There are so many Fuji fanbois crying ☠️☠️
This channel is so unhinged and I kinda love it
Damn! That 18mil is tempting.
That 18mm is magic. I suggest he stays with it and stop testing old outdated lenses.
that 18mm 1.4 looks good
Would prefer a wider lens in that series!
@camera conspiracies the viltrox 13mm toneh 1.4 looks like a good third party option for vlogging
@@frameofminds. ruclips.net/video/ncaRSI1CXIE/видео.html
@@cameraconspiracies Get the Viltrox 13mm since you want a wide lens. That 8-16mm is outdated, even Fuji doesn’t recommend it.
that 240 on the fuji looks like gopro footage. why? this might actually be a dealbreaker for me. oh no.
It seems like there's around 1 more stop of latitude, which has also been confirmed by CineD.
You can clearly see how much more detail is there in both shadows and highlights.
Are you referring to the Fuji?
I love the greens of the Fuji. My Pocket 4K views all greens as though it is autumn all year, haha! Next camera will probably be Fuji.
If you lived in that neighbourhood why wouldn't you call the police?
Love the Fuji colors
I think you need to have the same tonyature to compare slowmo quality though. Still, I may complain, but I love these comparisons and I pray for a GH6 to be added to the mix one day still.
Dear lord i'm glad I do not have fuji autofocus in my life anymore.
it's atrociously bad
You could clearly see that the autofocus issue he had at the beginning was either a human error by him or the lens he was using because when he switched to the 18mm he never had such issues. I have the XH2S and I don’t have such issues.
@@AsuquoTravelsProductions probebly yes but i’ve seen hunting in multiple videos.
I assume this is because there using old lenses but my current workflow cant afford waiting for them to refresh there lens line up.
So wether it is the camera or the lenses it makes it a non starter for me.
@@ghostapi874 You will have to ask them what lenses they are using because most of this so called video’s clearly show that the reviewers never took time to set up or understand their cameras but just rush to put out videos. I have the XH2S and it is working well for me. I already have 3 video up on my channels showcasing the camera filmed all handheld at various events.
@@AsuquoTravelsProductions Ye there is a bunch of miss information atm making it difficult.
But I really like fuji and I think they are making big strides in there cameras. However I think i’ll wait for them to mature the system now. They just started nailing there AF while sony/canon has been perfecting for years. I’ll give them that same time now.
I’ll stick with sony for another generation before considering a swap back to fuji.
Flog2 definitely did something… good. 👍🏽
8:30 Seems that Fuji H2S is a Moiré Behemoth. Looks like the image quality degrades quite a bit in slow motion too, unfortunately.
Dear Cayce, can you make streaking test for each camera? Right now nobody does it intentionally, unfortunately.
I personally think the Sony looked way more cinematic, but maybe it’s the lens?
Yes, I thought it was a yarmulke until you turned it 180 degrees halfway through the video.
Great video bro
It looks like you have underexposed the log profile on Sony. I can clearly see characteristic noise patterns. Probably NR algorithm destroyed the details and that is why you percieve shadows as less detialed. Not to mention huge difference in input resolution of both sensors.
Sony? Fuji? ... Canon... oh you horrible beautiful beast, every time. I tried, Tried to take a bad sunset photo with my 5d mkiii... it was beautiful, I dropped it in the sand minutes before taking the photo as well
Fuji is KILLING it in background AF...
thats exactly why i choose sony over other camera for video. f the color science , f the dynamic range, f everything if the clip lose focus.
Canon colors FTW!
Manual focus override..... Pretty sure you touched the focus ring Brother.
I was gonna write the same thing -manual focus override ftw.. being in focus is overrated, what really matters is what’s in the heart, that’s what matters
Even though I explained in the video that when you do that, the focus box disappears and peaking turns on. That's not what happened.
Also, if I had touched the focus ring it would have stayed focus very close to me. This jumped way to the background.
@@cameraconspiracies Very strange, have you reported it to Fuji, & If so what did they say it could be? Also, did it do it with anything other than the 18mm? Could be a lens firmware update issue. Be interesting to see if you can get it to do it again & under what circumstances... Food 4 thunkage..
@@thomas_fodor All lenses do that.
9:03: this is masterpiece👍

Omg dude 😂 you have the best sense of humor. Entertaining and informative 👍
Hahahahah. The focus test at 9 minutes is fricken hilair!!!!!!!
If I had to choose between the Sony and the Fuji.... I'd choose Nikon.
what in st hell i just read😁😁😁
Your shirt looks More orange on the Fuji compared to the Sony.
Fuji looked better at almost every point - and indoors it was the Sony making your shirt orange.
The Fuji does look better at the look out. Otherwise just horrible daylight.
fuji is a lot darker, in my test i found fuji to be 1 stop darker, that's why sony looks so flat and yucky because it's overexposed, while fuji has some dark shadows. dynamic range is better on the sony if you expose them right
also try shooting 500-1000 kelvin bellow normal Temparature, sony has warmer tones for some reason. that will fix most of your problems
solid video, F - Log, really F log profiles, i use neutral in sony and eterna in fuji, screw screwing around with these logs.
But “we learned something”
Still trying to figure out what “we” learned… lol
Great video bro!
Fuji and Panasonic, PLEASE get your AF straight and I’ll switch!
What sound set up are you using for this videos?
A cheap lav mic.
Prefer how the XH2S looks, looking at other videos on RUclips there seems to be a a very big difference in autofocus perfomance on some Fuji lenses
Fooj colors look better. Not sure what’s up with the AF
I was impressed with the color and dynamic range. And that 3D POP ha
Don't forget that the Sony is in slog3 and he might not be doing a correct s.gamut3.cine to rec709 transform correctly. The colors look like crap especially the greens on the Sony, but that could be down to improper post-processing.
I just want a Sony A7c ii
can see "pinkish" skin color of sony right away
And Orange t-shirt on the Fuji
Most of the video was comparing log... And then I tried some other profiles that are most common.
I agree with you. I still feel it may be human error on his part and not a Fuji issue.
Yea must be my fault. I've tried the 10 bit 422, 10 bit 420, and all the pro res codecs. Only thing left would be 8 bit. The X-S10 has better 240p.
@@AsuquoTravelsProductions lol, yes can't possibly be a Fuji problem.
@@cameraconspiracies you can't record prores with 240/120fps buddy.

It was the Fuji 8-16mm f2.8 that messed up the autofocus.

A shirt change…. Most clever
The 18mm, Tamron 17-70mm and Viltrox 13mm are some of the lenses that I have noticed that work really well with the XH2S.
@@AsuquoTravelsProductions Yeah absolutely. The Viltrox 13 is especially impressive, its performance in stickiness at F1.4 is some kind of voodoo.
