How to put disc brakes on a Studebaker

- This is how I put sn95 Mustang disc brakes onto my '52 studebaker champion using a tutorial SDC member "sbca96" put together in 2006 or so.
Materials List:
'98 Mustang Calipers
'98 Mustang Rotors
'98 Mustang brake hoses/banjo bolt/caliper bolts
'98 Dodge RAM Wheel Studs Dorman P/N: 610287
Factory Wheel Bearings
21/32 Drill Bit
Loctite Quick Metal (as added insurance)
This isn't necessarily the ONLY way to do this, but this is just the way that I did it as a build journal of sorts. It is NOT meant to be a step by step tutorial, but if you have any questions, feel free to comment, or check out my facebook/instagram pages at:

If you DO decide to do this, you're on your own. I'm not responsible in any way for any mishaps that may occur.
Yes, this is a swap I developed quite a few years ago and at considerable expense went through the hassle of making brackets available.
My design includes the inner seal weep protection Studebaker and many other makers in the day used to keep bearing grease off the brake parts.
Here is a link to the further CAD developed Gen II version, zinc plated steel. I also include right and left hose to frame bracket. There are links to the original articles referred to.

Thanks for your support!

Good video. I have a "51 Champion that hopefully I will be doing some mods to soon. They are great cars and such a unique and cool style.
We've also got a pair of '50 champions, which have the awful steering setup on them. I got into them because of my father and the fact that nobody knows what they are makes it that much more fun!
I wish that I had this set-up years ago. I had a 1961 Studebaker Lark with the OHV 6 engine. The oil filter blew apart, ruining the engine. I bought a wrecked 1960 Cadillac and put the Cadillac 390 V8 and hydramatic in the Lark. The original brakes were the small ones Studebaker used, and they would fade going down hill when it had the 6 in it. I used the brakes for a Hawk and they worked ok, but I would have really liked to have disc on the car.
Time for an update on this car.
I apologize for not responding to this sooner. RUclips didn't send me a comment notification! You're absolutely right that it is overdue. Right now I've got a different '52 studebaker in the shop (a wrecker), but I'll be back on this after I get that rolling, since a LOT has changed.
Hello! What year mustang parts are you using? I have a 56 that i hope to do this too but completely lost!
How are you not.at a hundred k subs? Great vid
Thank you for giving me credit for this design. I have offered a bracket for sale in small quantities for over a decade now. On my RUclips channel I have videos of my Avanti and the CAD models that were created to make the final design. Here is a link to the brackets I have a considerable investment into making :

My bracket uses all 6 bolts to insure that the caliper is held parallel to the rotor and also to create a grease trap similar to what Studebaker had (seen in your drum disassembly video : 39 second mark). Once I break even on the front investment, I will move forward on a rear setup offering. I also designed a power window regulator motor bracket that allows use of a very common GM motor instead of the $300 dollar NLA Ford part.

"Drum Brakes Suck"..._ Lol!
Ditch the annoying background 'music'.
