  • For those that like their cars to stop on command... I am replacing the brakes on the Lark. Still waiting on two sunny days in a row on a weekend to put the engine in...

Wow! This takes me back some 50 years, when I owned and restored/rebuilt Studebakers, and was single. Removing wheel studs is pretty easy, all you need is a big hammer and a way to support the hub. They go back in the same way, if you don't have access to a press. You might want to check the fit of the hub to the axle, as the axle shaft appears to have spun at some time in the past. If your key looks less-than-new, I would replace it. You can buy key stock by the foot at most suppliers.

Do you think it would have been easier and cheaper to upgrade to disc brakes. I have a 1960 Champ and I need to do the brakes.

Definitely not cheaper, the hard part was pulling the drum. It has to come off either way. After the drum is pulled the rest is easy.

Are the rear brakes the same on the 64 stude Daytona? V8

I'm not sure, there are much more knowledgeable people over here: forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/

At least your getting something done on the old girl! Is the engine back together yet?

The engine has been ready to put back in since the spring, I don't have a garage to work in so I have been waiting for a free weekend with good weather to put it back in. Hopefully during Christmas vacation...
