- Driving around for a while, I noticed my generator light started flickering, until it stayed on constantly. Diagnosing everything I could and concluded that my battery and generator are okay. Only thing left was the voltage regulator, which ended up being the culprit.

You are The only one to explain it from all angles in detail..Great job .
Appreciate it, buddy!
Interesting! I didn't know about lining up that mark on the generator. I'm gonna go and check mine now.
This is exactly what I needed, needed a tow from Long Beach to Huntington at 2am last night cause the battery died
Nice dude, glad it helped! Hope you VW is okay haha
This was extremely helpful, my voltage regulator is acting up and it’s the same as yours, I’ve ordered the same solid state one as you.
Without a working regulator your generator will keep the volts rising until it cooks the battery. This is why your voltage gadgets kept blowing up .
Thanks for this
I’m glad it helped, buddy!
I would love to see some driving videos
with engine audio from the driver’s seat. Fond memories!
excellent
Nice fix, man. I did some similar testing not long ago, did it wrong, then realized I should have started by inspecting the battery terminals for corrosion first! 😕 You we’re lucky. Years ago, before I knew anything about anything, long before the internet, I had a bad voltage regulator toast a generator.
yep! glad I found the root cause before anything else went bad.
Solid content. Thank you
Im confussed...i know of 6volt and 12volt systems. What did you do to allow 20-30volts?
a dead voltage regulator haha
What is the left yellow light indicate? When I turn my key on, I only get the red light come on. Any help would be great
Yellow indicates oil pressure. when you put the key on ACC, there's zero oil pressure, so that light will be on. but when the engine is running, that light should go away since the engine is supposed to have oil pressure. if that light stays on with your engine on, your best case scenario is a faulty oil pressure switch. your worst case scenario would be low oil pressure which is caused by multiple factors. should have your engine checked at this point.
