EP 54: Subframe Restoration / 1967 VW Type 3 Squareback
I decided not to powder coat the subframe. I ended up just painting it with a spray can, and it actually turned out pretty nice. I also upgraded to adjustable spring plates, which required having to source a pair of shorter Type 1 torsion bars to go with them. While I have everything out, I might as well replace all the rubber bushings that I can.

EP 53: Subframe Removal / 1967 VW Type 3 Squareback
Просмотров 35714 дней назад
Subframe Removal will probably be as far down the disassembly I'll go. Any more than that, I don't think I'd be able to stop fixing all the small things, and this would take much much longer to get back on the road. Perhaps in the future, I'll separate the Pan/Body, but today is not the day. I decided to remove the entire rear subframe to be able to replace all the bushings. The ones that came ...

Okay, maybe I haven't dug around as much, but I could not for the life of me find any videos of any type 3 short axle conversions. Since I was already doing the work, I figured I'd do an in depth video on how it all gets put together and what parts are needed. Hopefully this helps! With the gas tank removed and the front beam out of the way, now is the time to also remove the brake system. Building a 1776cc with my Kuya

So my brother Ian has been wanting to rebuild his engine since the day he bought his 1974 Karmann Ghia a few months ago. If you look on the inside of the wheels it should say the size. I don’t know if there are old and new rivieras but there are fake and real ones and that might be the difference. Also, a smaller tire in rear might give the clearance you need.
