- So when I purchased this Squareback in 2019, only 1 panel (rear driverside) was not original. The previous owner had given me a folder full of receipts and I found one that showed the rear fender was replaced back in 2003. I rocked the mismatched fender for 3 years until I was able to locate a period correct fender in the proper color, Seasand. I couldn't pass it up!

Good job finding a fender! My 68 had ,late model fenders on it. I always wanted to put early ones back on. Nice car!!
Looks like it was meant to be there! ✌🏼
Sometimes I like to think that this was the actual original fender that was removed from this Squareback 2 decades ago. The city where I bought the Squareback is only 47 miles away from where I bought the fender so it's not completely impossible.... one can dream, right?
Nice looking 👀
Looks great! I liked it before with the blue fender, but the new one looks even better. You're so lucky over there with no rust. It's a constant battle over here in the UK - I'm dreading taking the fenders off my Square because of how rotten it could be behind them.
yup! As expensive California is to live in compared to the rest of the US, we definitely have the best condition classic cars. No snow means so salt on the road. No salt on the road means little to no rust. no rust makes for a happy car enthusiast. so instead of buying a house, I'll just sleep in my cars haha.
where in the UK do you reside? I'm actually flying out to London for a friend's wedding for 12 days mid-September. I would love to see a bunch of classic cars, especially old VW's. Unfortunately the group of people I'm going with don't care much about cars. so we'll be visiting a bunch of tourist spots in between the wedding events. It will also be my first time ever driving a RHD car on the opposite side of the road, so wish me luck!
@@jeremydoc I typed a reply to this on my phone but I can't see it now. Anyway...
I'm in Manchester which is a couple of hundred miles from London. Over here, that's a long way! It's about a 4 hour drive.
There's a regular air cooled meet at a place called the Ace Café which has been a car and bike hangout for years. If you're into bikes, you may have heard of a style called Café Racer? Well, the Ace Café is the café they're named after. The aircooled meet seems to be around the middle of each month so if you're here when it's on, it might be a worth a trip out to that. There's a facebook page about it and that'll have the dates on.
You'll be fine in a RHD car, it'll take a minute or two to get used to it but then it's easy enough. I've had a few LHD vehicles and it's weird at first but not a big issue. Just watch out for roundabouts though!
Looking great. Another huge improvement. However now your small car on the dash doesn't match any more 😋
I know, right!?! I've been keeping in touch with the lady whom I bought the Squareback from. She only knows this Squareback with the blue fender, so when I tag up with her again in the near future, I'll gift the little toy to her for her memories with her late husband. I'm sure it's got a lot of sentimental value to her. I'll have to buy a new toy with all matching original color to match my color now :D
@@jeremydoc that's really cool of you I am sure she'll like that
Nice 👍
thanks, buddy!
Looks great! I keep semi looking for a front fender for my Fasty it had a repaint on 1 fender at some point and the color difference throws me off....
Ah, the joy of needing fenders on a square or fasty. Never mind that most of them are in your home state too! 😡 Hey, I’ll tell you why it says $10. That is because people used to charge very reasonable amounts for this stuff. Good find. All matchy matchy now.
yeah, as difficult as I thought it was to find the one specific fender I was looking for, I can't even imagine how difficult it could be in other states, especially where it snows a lot and rust is a common enemy of these classic cars.
@@jeremydoc truly. I’ve got my mind on the four most difficult to find pieces, both doors and both rear fenders. The shipping alone..!!
@@vdubjunkie oh boy. not to mention how difficult it is to find parts for a notch. Doors might be easier, but your rear fenders since they're not entirely the same as a fastback/squareback. Nothcbacks dont have the air fins. If you're not already familiar, check out ISP West. they specialize in all things Type 3. (I live like 20 minutes away from them, so lucky me!) I believe they ship worldwide too
@@jeremydoc yes, not only the lack of louvers, but the shape of where it meets the body at the top is also different. I have considered ISP West, but I will be using them mostly only when there are no other choices. I don’t actually have a budget, so..
@@vdubjunkie no budget?! how do I get to be like you when I grow up?
What ever happened with the Honda wheels
Still got ‘em. Matter of fact, I just put tires on them. Won’t be putting them on until I finish my front beam rebuild. I plan on getting some drop spindles and shortened arms. Stay tuned!
If they fit your square back they should fit my fastback because I have a few sets laying around
looks like your lost
