  • ** UPDATE ** The seat connector does NOT need any wires twisted/shorted together, just cut connector off and tape each wire so the do not touch.
    This video is provided for informational purposes only, DO NOT ATTEMPT THESE YOURSELF. Attempting these modifications puts you and those around you at risk of personal harm.
    I show how to bypass most if not all of the electronic safeties that come built into this unit.
    I also show you how to speed up the super slow and sometimes barely functional reverse on this model.

    I thought it was probably just a switch, thanks for showing where the is! I just disconnected it at the switch. THere's another connector higher up that's seems easier to get to and probably would also work. Man I wish my battery had a handle. That thing was hard to pull out of that tight space. I need to put a strap under it!

    You da man. I hacked the seat switch a while back, but was thinking there must be a stop built into the unit for the swash plate movement. Bingo! Grinding I will I go! Thanks a bunch!

    For anyone who needs this. Last place I looked was the Headlights Shorted To Ground - Cub was running and just plain would not restart. No clicking, no power to the meter. Spent 2 days continuity testing solenoid with battery, and all 3 other safety switches (PTO, BRAKE AND SEAT). Disabled seat switch but removing the electrical bus in the connector. All other switches and solenoid tested AOK!
    Replaced ignition because old one was pretty worn out. Junk plastic anyway. STILL NOTHING. NO POWER. CHECKED GROUND AOK.
    Then I heard a great tip about the headlights. Could it be that simple? Just went outside and disconnected them. BAMB! Power restored and started right up! Thank you!!! Although a frustrating experience, it saved me a trip to the repair shop! And I learned a lot about removing and testing these safety switches.

    I hope you realize that you will soon have cracked seat, only one of those bolt holes should have a bolt in it the two pastic tabs in the front provide a 3 pt seat mount. Adding two more seat bolts puts stress on the plastic, if you don't believe I got this info directly from CC tech support.

    I have an XT2. My seat connector doesn't have a brown wire. It has a green, red/red stripe, red/white stripe. Which yellow do i connect with the green one.

    Awesome Tip....really needed to know this. Now Why does mine stall out when mowing a slope and leaves me stranded while sitting halfway off the seat?

    the switch you removed to let peddle go back farther..can you just put a tie around the switch and secure the harness ..some where else ..mine still under warranty

    • @rangewatson4971
      @rangewatson4971  4 года назад +3

      Sure. FYI - I removed the switch to stop the reverse shut down from happening and your solution probably works better. I ground out the metal to let the peddle go back farther to speed up reverse a bit - that works great!

      You might as well take the seat sensor off. My parking brake quit working due to the plastic parking brake lever not catching it and keeping it in place

    My mower is the XT1. Following directions like you showed to do. Doing that as you did by itself didn’t work. Did I somehow miss a step? Your method looked cut and dry. What might I have left out?

    Hi, my cub cadet GT2542 has 4 green wires on seat safety switch. What can I do with that?

    • @rangewatson4971
      @rangewatson4971  4 года назад +1

      Not sure, but I would try cutting off the connector and see what happens if the connector is no longer shorting any wires together.

    Where do you grind so reverse goes faster

    • @rangewatson4971
      @rangewatson4971  3 года назад +3

      If you remove the battery and look down at what is hitting what when you hit reverse you will see a lever that hits part of the metal frame, the metal frame needs to be ground so the metal lever can go back further.

    I need a video on the last switch. I tested it with a multimeter reader and it says the switch is still good. The kill button was pressed down when I removed it and I'm not sure if that is why I still do not have power. This last switch is on the back wall that also holds the solenoid. If I call it an interlock switch, it comes up correctly, but if I google those words, it all shows the brake switch. Do you know how to get the metal arm off the 3rd safety switch?

  • @will67081

    Why the hell would you remove this safety feature?!?! All you have to do is engage the parking brake and it won't shut off when you get off of it

    • @azumi-osaki
      @azumi-osaki 4 месяца назад

      Because some people dont have pets and children... if someone decides to reverse without looking all around its mental... some features are useless and the only one who knows the best is the riding mower owner him/her self... thats why "(- . -)"
