I am 84 and a light 145 lbs. My yard is very bumpy and the seat switch kept stalling the engine. I don’t know if that bothered the engine, but it sure bothered me. Then I found your solution and both myself and the engine want to give you a very sincere “thank you”.

Just got the mower yesterday and after putting it together I jump on and start it up only to find that when I released the brake the motor would shut off. Oh, I was pissed. After watching several videos on why it would be happening. I concluded that it has to do with the seat switch. After watching this video today, this seemed to be the simplest way to go. Worked like a charm. Thanks

Thanks a lot, super simple solution. You will save lot of money to lot of people: I had stop so frequently when collecting leaves and constant starting and shutting off is not really good for starter or engine while emptying bags.
Now I lower engine speed while stopped and keep going again and again. Before this trick my battery died with constant starting. Love it.

I really appreciate you putting this video up. I was having the same issue where the lawn mower would power down if I leaned too far forward. I had decided to live with it, though it was annoying. Eventually though something went wrong with the switch and the engine would shut off as soon as I disengaged the clutch. I was really trying to avoid taking it to the shop as I knew they would be backed up for the fall. I also knew it had to be a simple non-engine related problem. I tried the fix in this video and it instantly resolved my problem.

Genius! Thanks for this video - it was worth the long length :) It's about the 5th one I've seen on RUclips, and the tip at the very end is the best: to NOT plug that green thing BACK into the slot where it previously was! I'm so glad you said that, because otherwise I would have (I think another video online might have recommended you just plug it right back in, after removing the small metal piece).

  • @mikesartorii234

Great vid. Plowed through some comments and not one person mentioned that your trick "probably" won't void the warranty! Just keep the lil metal piece in a safe place, labeled what it is and simply put it back in before "any" warranty work and or repairs or selling the machine. Thanks :)

    I have a 2021 Ultima ZT2.
There is a 4 pin plug for the seat safety but only a small bus bar that connects the center pins.
The outer wires are white and the inner are green and yellow.
If you push the small bus bar out and jumper the outer pins (white wires), this will bypass the seat safety.
I basically destroyed my safety switch to see how it worked inside to figure it out. 😂
I don't get off the mower while the blades are on but my yard is fairly hilly and I need to shift my weight around to make sure the uphill wheel gets enough traction to keep me from sliding out. Got tired of the engine stalling.
Thanks for sending me down the right path sir! Hopefully this helps someone with their Ultima.

Thank you!! I'm a small-statured gal, so if so much as lean forward to adjust my T-shirt or scratch my lower leg I had to restart half the time...tonight I was already down in my barn/garage messing around with the air compressor and a ratchet strap bc my front tire had slipped off the rim and figured what the hell, what's a few more minutes working on the Cub to bypass the seat safety, right? Flipped the seat over and had a basic idea of what to do, but thought it best to double check the web and good thing, because I probably would've made something this simple a few steps more difficult! 😂 So thanks again!!
