Rob Berra, UPS and FedEx have to abide by federal law because they do handle mailed items, stealing packages is a federal offense. UPS does stand for United Parcels Service, (parcel is mail) and FedEx does stand for Federal Express which is federal. both ship company payroll checks, and prescription medications as well as everything else. more than the United States Postal service.
Cat Stevens you are assuming you know the legalities of ups. Fed ex dhl amazon ebay which has no government backing so its not a federal crime. If it is SHIPPED FROM THE POSTAL SERVICE aka U.S.P.S. it's a federal crime. The postal service has their own police system government police. NOT generic ups! Get educated first.
Cat Stevens Citation, please? Can you cute the law that makes stealing from a common carrier such as FedEx or UPS a crime on par with stealing from the USPS? The fact that FedEx has "federal" in its name means nothing; I could start a one-person business tomorrow called "Federal Transportation" but that wouldn't mean I had any special relationship with the federal government.

@@angelous7774 no but ok 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ that makes zero sense ! Cops need to enforce the law period ! & not allow some to get away with crime due to other crimes going on ... sorry that’s just stupid 🙄
Yeah, tbh. Something like that happened to us where our package was stolen, opened a bit, and then given back. I should've taken it more seriously. Their excuse was that they grabbed our package because they were concerned someone else would steal it, so then they gave it back, and I realized they partially opened the package beforehand and must've realized it's nothing they'd want so they just gave it back. *It was a package of medicine for my sick dad...* Lol. So they would have no use for it.
They threw the package out at the curb in front of the house, it's still a theft. They took it off the premises. PERIOD! The police should have follow through. Glad I don't live in San Jose.
If Walmart calls the cops because you took a $2 item, they will respond and arrest, all on the word of the store. Here you have clear evidence of an actual premeditated theft, and they won't make an arrest.... tell me why?
Because it is California. Criminals have more rights than victims. And the dollar amount stolen (attempted) is a factor also, the low end of petty theft can just be an infraction and not worth the police department's time.
The police didn’t file report because they threw out the package?? Seems like good odds for the thieves! They should try robbing banks - apparently they can always just dump the cash if it goes wrong...
SpencerFcp - depends on how much it is worth! How many man hours are cops going to spend to have a thieves hands slapped?! If the thieves were to steal from the mailbox, it's a federal offense (even if its a letter). Fines and jail time are imposed on anyone doing so when caught. When you steal a package that is NOT delivered by USPS, there are no written laws that are going to keep thieves in jail. Porch package theft has to be proven, AND the monetary value of the items stolen have to be taken into consideration. Most individual porch package thefts are considered a misdemeanor, not a felony.
SpencerFcp .... ahhh yeah... thats why fleeing drug dealers often throw their "product" out the car window whilst being pursued... the cops hafta let 'em go !! 👍😎

About a year ago my mailman delivered a box to my house and the address was for a house a few doors down. So I took it to them myself. I’m a 6’1” Mexican man here in San Jose. As I walked up to the house with the package. I knocked on the door. No one answered. I was about to leave the box but then I hit me, “what if someone tacks it!” So I was going to take it back with me and bring it back later. Then I thought, “they might think I’m stealing it!” Lol what do I do? I stayed there knocking for about 10 minutes until some one answered the door.

"wouldn't take a report because the package was recovered" ok police now maybe you understand why people take the law into their own hands. about 3 years ago i had a neighbor catch a porch pirate in the act and he beat the shit out of the guy and threw him out in the road right in front of his house. why would these scumbags stop if the only punishment when they are caught is literally a fine and a slap on the wrist. oh woe is me stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise but you caught me this one time and gave me a $300 dollar fine oh no i better stop.
Um well if u can't get the cops to do their job then the private citizen has to pursue the issue then Leo's get all "vigilantes will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law Where I live they don't spend department resources on property crimes so all the thieves are meth brave but the cops have a fit when you bring the thief to them
That's IF they face any punishment at all, these one's got caught red handed, on camera, and the cops refused to act. But if the ones your friend beat up had the nerve to report it, the cops would happily arrest him for felony assault, regardless of what the circumstances were. It's unbelievable what we have to put up with.
In CA, a front plate is also required. If you don't have one, they can give you a "fix it" ticket. You then have to go to the DMV, and they will issue you two new plates. Then you have to take the paperwork and your car with the new plates to the police station and have them sign off on it. A used car I bought didn't have a front plate, so that's how I know.
TYEDYE THAT PACKAGE LOOKED LIKE AN AMAZON PACKAGE THAT WAS DELIVERED BY THE USPS AND ITS SUPPOSE TO BE A FEDERAL CRIME STEALING ANYTHING DELIVERED BY THE USPS BUT IN CALIFORNIA THEY LIVE IN A DIFFERENT UNIVERSE AND IF YOUR AN ILLEGAL ALIEN THEN THE WILLIE BROWN MACHINE THAT RUNS CALIFORNIA THINKS YOUR A SACRED COW AND THAT IS A FACT
See this is exactly why, I Track my packages and greet the drivers!!!!! Never had this issue!!! It doesn’t matter what they stole... THEFT IS THEFT!!!!!
in my humble opinion, the contents of the (potential) stolen package(s) should be 100% irrelevant. You take something that doesn't belong to you, knowingly, pay the price like the criminal you are.
Right Wingers are just jealous of California because it's an awesome state as oppose to those right wing hell holes like Mississippi and Alabummer, which is now a sanctuary state for pedophiles.
Marchant2 California is a giant dumpster fire. illegals with more rights than citizens. homeless camps under every over pass. crazy taxes. California sucks anal sludge through a warthogs dick hole.
The fact that the victim assumed that a "middle aged white couple in a nice car" wouldn't steal shows how much society truly is in denial. When I worked in retail during my school years, the first thing the training staff taught us was that the thrives are usually the least expected, such has the elderly white women.
3 years later i see this video again and still can't believe the cops do nothing. No wonder we have thieves stealing packages. There's no consequences. Same goes with stolen cars, all they do is " we found your car, come pick it up at impound" case closed.
Police will not do anything? Here is an idea... If, she has any family or friends that are Police Officers have them run the license plates and give them 3 tickets for parking by a fire hydrant that is located on the street that the package thieves live on, but the tickets do not get placed on their car, so the package thieves will not know about the tickets. The 3rd ticket they will get the boot on their car. 😂
Nope. Just bypass the police altogether and submit this evidence to the District Attorney's office. Cops are choosing not to make an arrest on this attempted theft. DA calls the shots though. They will force those ignorant pigs to do their damn jobs.
In this day and age, you need to think twice about having packages sent to your home unless you are actively home. People need to think more about having packages sent to their place of work which is (or should be) far safer. Police in less safe areas should (if they don't already) set up bait package programs which would make people think twice about stealing during holiday seasons. Same philosophy of when you go out partying or dancing on Saturday nights, you just know cops will be out and DUI check zones will be a thing lol.
I had the same problem and caught two girls stealing from my business. The police were not interested because they asked me if the value of the theif was worth more than $950, I told them no! I was instructed to let the two girls go and to release them because there was no officers available at this time. I told the dispatcher "we'll have a race", the dispatcher asked "what kind of race?" We will see if I don't have to shoot them before you get here, five cars came up with their lights and sirens on in less than 5 minutes. One girl had a $60,000 warrant for assault with a deadly weapon, the other one had just turned eighteen the day before. I had to place them under citizen's arrest because still the police were not interested in following through and doing the paperwork... because it was hot outside and he was getting off his shift and 30 minutes. They also brought a police dog and one officer told me if those two girls run don't you chase them, I asked why? The officer said that dog only chases after things that move and you'll be behind them and he'll take you down first.
Around here the cops favorite do nothing line is, "Well, it's a civil matter." I called local sheriff's department once over some guy shooting a 9mm handgun at the boat ramp next to my house. About 50 feet away and cop called me back 20 minutes later and said that if he didn't see it there was nothing he could do. So I called state troopers and they were out in 15 minutes. Gathered up spent casings and pictures I took of vehicle. Called me next day to say they made contact and arrested dude for felon in possession of a firearm.
Wow! that's a real Dragnet Police Force they got there. Declined to write a report. Those are some real crime stoppers there. "Waddya complaining about? You got the package back! Jeez, lady!"
Brenda J Very commonplace. I live in a very suburban part of San Rafael. We’ve even had people steal food and household stuff donations intended for Vets, the Boy Scouts from peoples’ driveways set out to be collected. It’s getting bad. I suspect they are local people. You get the notices in the ma I’ll about donation drives and who knows who picks the stuff up. Sad.
I could have sworn tampering with mail is a federal crime
Da Noyze Might have been UPS, FedEx or something like that. Still a crime to steal it, but not the federal offense mail tampering is.

FYI- robbery is the act of taking something by force or threat from a person, not a front porch. Thus, no attempted robbery.

Cops: Not interested. Let us know when you catch a black man!
jzizzles - Booooo!!!!!
Stats show cops are now least likely to engage a black man.
pep , unless they can kill him.
Jeff T yea offer to "catch" the perp for the cop and see how fast they arrest you
Zachary Licata what the hell does your comment have to do with anything about what i said?
I love your neighbor!!!
“A soccer mom looking woman”
😂 that description is karma enough
if I lived in an area with known package thieves I would put my ghillie suit on with my long range Paintball gun and let the good times roll
Thieves are a rash on society.
cops too apparently
They probably stole the car too
100% possible
That's one reason we here in Mich need a front plate to. Just trying to see the back plate is not always possible
@@davidho2977 thanks, wish they would in Michigan, we did once before
Taking someone else's mail is a federal offense regardless of what is in it
Sounds like if I'm in San Jose, I can still anything I want as long as I give it back at some point. Thank you SJPD. ROAD TRIP!!!
That's why they have a nice car stealing other people's belongings.
Robert Auld car is probably stolen, too!
Theme: You rob my packages, I rob your freedom
Tracking the plate down shows it's been sold three times. Gee, it must be "bad luck"!
They need to upgrade this to a felony like when stealing mail.
USPS wouldn't spend time to prosecute mail theft unless it was by the truckload.
Yes, it is mail. Just like going into a mailbox, federal felony
So middle age white Plp don’t steal boxes? Amazing
@Lithus17 done. 👍
@Lithus17 no worries. I'm CDO, it's like OCD but in order.
I was JUST about to comment this.
Yeah that did sound a little bit judgmental to say the least.
Because they are privileged, according to you Woke automatons. So why are you crying when people repeat your propaganda?
I love the Santa Cruz sk8 poster in the background!
All depends on who the victim of the crime is .
Why bother telling the cops!!??
I would do my own “pay back”
Good old San Jose PD for you...
The thieves had some sort of connection with the police department. Obviously.
"a soccer mom-looking woman" 😂😂
A soccer mom "looking women". 😂😂😂😂
Definitely not soccer mom looking. Trailer trash looking.
WHAT ???? !!!!! Police not wanting to do their job ?!?!? I'm shocked !!!!
Pretty sad when the porch Pirates have a better vehicle than you.
Wow, these guys aren't afraid to call out the cops for not doing their job AND show a clear picture of the licence plate.
See this is exactly why, I Track my packages and greet the drivers!!!!! Never had this issue!!! It doesn’t matter what they stole... THEFT IS THEFT!!!!!
So if I rob a bank get caught then give the money back and run away I won't get in trouble?
Gee, the police don't realize that stopping these criminals will stop them from doing further crimes??? WTF???
Cops in San Jose should look for that vehicle and arrest the owner of that car. The video proves that the lady committed a crime..
Never heard that one before "soccer-mom looking woman" LUL
That's usually the case, it's not what the person looks like or what they're driving come from all walks of life all walks of shape of life
in my humble opinion, the contents of the (potential) stolen package(s) should be 100% irrelevant. You take something that doesn't belong to you, knowingly, pay the price like the criminal you are.
If donuts were in the box the police would have been all over the case!
CALIFORNIA FOR YOU
Right Wingers are just jealous of California because it's an awesome state as oppose to those right wing hell holes like Mississippi and Alabummer, which is now a sanctuary state for pedophiles.
Marchant2
California is a giant dumpster fire. illegals with more rights than citizens. homeless camps under every over pass. crazy taxes. California sucks anal sludge through a warthogs dick hole.
jennings mills basically red and
Blue deep states suck in their own way
John Whirling it's been 3 months and you probably are still trying to understand this statement
GFY.
I'm surprise the poor lady didn't get in trouble for trying to protect her stuff
For people who don't know San Jose is on the out skirts of San Francisco.
Put several li-ion pack batteries in a box and set it up to shock them with several amps when they open it. Faster than the electric chair 🤣
The fact that the victim assumed that a "middle aged white couple in a nice car" wouldn't steal shows how much society truly is in denial.
When I worked in retail during my school years, the first thing the training staff taught us was that the thrives are usually the least expected, such has the elderly white women.
So true. I guess middle aged white people don't steal.
Exactly..
Middle aged WHITE couple in nice car?? Lmao! Shocked?! Those are the main ones!!!!
3 years later i see this video again and still can't believe the cops do nothing. No wonder we have thieves stealing packages. There's no consequences. Same goes with stolen cars, all they do is " we found your car, come pick it up at impound" case closed.
All of that should be reported and RECORDED........Period.
EXACTLY! The COP'S are TOTALLY USELESS.📦🏃They don't Like being Disturbed while on break .🍩.🍩☕🚓
Nurse Calls Good Idea!
Nope. Just bypass the police altogether and submit this evidence to the District Attorney's office. Cops are choosing not to make an arrest on this attempted theft. DA calls the shots though. They will force those ignorant pigs to do their damn jobs.
So no such thing as attempted robbery? Good to know i just throw out whatever i try to steal from now on🤣🤣🤣
They shouldn't show the license plate.
SgtPiggie Then they're entrapping would-be thieves... same thing with Chris Hansen's "To Catch a Preditor".
That women is ome brave women .
*That womAn is one brave womAn.
Women is plural. Woman is singular. Smh.
"I was just so shocked it was white people." 1:21
That's not what she said. Pay attention! Smh!
ViralTuber she didnt say that.
White people like free shit too ya know.
lol *nobody* actually says that. most package thieves are lazy white women.
ViralTuber white people do it very often it just isn't reported
MSM can't tell the truth or there will be no racism to divide the idiots
Police weren't following cause they lazy.. They just wanna sit in their offices and eat donuts..smh
"Soccer mom looking woman"! 🤣😂
Wow! that's a real Dragnet Police Force they got there. Declined to write a report. Those are some real crime stoppers there. "Waddya complaining about? You got the package back! Jeez, lady!"
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Santa Cruz
Screaming Hand✋
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Yeah !!!! I saw that too !! I want that picture !! lol......... (Have the stickers on my van and my bass guitar !!)
I'm shocked that she's shocked that it was a middle aged white couple, in a nice car! Has she been living under a rock... that's commonplace.
Brenda J Dear God. It was satire. You cannot be serious.
Black fragility
tasha b : white privilege, bitch!
and each time people bring up race....we get to take more steps back
the numbers don't lie ;)
Brenda J Very commonplace. I live in a very suburban part of San Rafael. We’ve even had people steal food and household stuff donations intended for Vets, the Boy Scouts from peoples’ driveways set out to be collected. It’s getting bad.
I suspect they are local people. You get the notices in the ma I’ll about donation drives and who knows who picks the stuff up. Sad.
You call the law, they do nothing. You handle it on your own, you could face charges/civil suit. Wow
Bravo to KPIX CBS to show the damn license plate!!!
