San Jose Lululemon Looting, Other Bay Area Smash-and-Grabs Helping Fund Organized Crime Rings

- Among the wave of smash-and-grab robberies and looting around the Bay Area over the weekend, the Lululemon at San Jose's Santana Row was targeted Sunday night by a group that made off with over $40,000 in pricey exercise gear. It was the same MO seen all over the Bay Area this weekend. San Jose police say these thefts are the work of organized crime rings.

And just yesterday, I was reading an article in "Newsweek" saying there were no longer any Republicans elected to any statewide offices on the entire West Coast. This is what you get when you have uncontested one-party rule, and the most radical members of that party are calling the shots in terms of law enforcement. For the record, I consider myself an independent, but I don't think this would be as bad if the political system in San Francisco wasn't essentially just rubber-stamping the Democratic progressive party line.

Organized theft rings, with any leaders not getting their hands dirty, but having lackeys steal stuff. This is also why there has been a huge number of porch thefts in the Bay Area as well. Even if the police catch the ones who do the stealing, they are getting the low-level looters, not the people who head the crimes.
The $980 misdemeanor limit does contribute to this, in that crafty criminals know how to take advantage, since this applies to people who commit this as a first offense only. Once someone is caught, they are cut loose, but several other low-level looting lackeys will take their place, so no one ends up with a history of multiple thefts. Local law enforcement don't have the resources to deal with widespread organized crime rings like this. People want to blame politics, and I do feel politics does play a part, in that people fighting over partisan politics diverts attention away from real issues, and organized crime ring leaders count on this. Anyone blaming CA for not voting for Republicans must realize that the current crop of them under Trump are themselves guilty of their own brand of organized crime, theft of taxpayer dollars (just look at all the cases of fraud committed by GOP members in the last several years), on top of various civil rights violations and other illegal and unconstitutional acts. There are plenty of good Republicans, but they are apparently being accused of being traitors by the Trump crowd, and are often not supported in their runs for office. I was rooting for Republican Bill Weld, but none of the Trump-crazy GOP supporters had even heard of him, nor any other viable Republican candidates with actual political work experience.
