My aunt keeps a metal box attached to her porch and the delivery driver can leave the packages inside the box and close the lock that my aunt has a key to. We shouldn’t have to take these measures if people acted like decent human beings though.
Good idea for one parcel, if two parcels arrive on the same day but different times, one will have to be left out (at least where i live there are three delivery services)
Jemma J oh no the box she has is pretty big and heavy so it’ll fit multiple packages, plus no one will want to steal the whole box.
@@arizexas not what i meant, if the delivery driver closes the box, the next driver will have to leave the second one exposed, since its locked and needs the key

I dont think that stealing amazon packages is that fucked up, at all infact, they will forsure be compensated for the missing package and the people stealing arent bad people necessarily they may have just been in a tight spot. But all that set aside people that steal packages are usually the scum of the earth especially if they just steal all packages.
Luis Fraser you are out of your flipping mind. Not necessarily bad people? How does stealing random mystery packages help someone in a tight spot? Don’t bother answering, you’re just an idiot and quite possibly a thief.
Those same individuals who are stealing wouldn’t like anything stolen from them. People like this deserve to be surprised by a couple of pit bulls. Don’t kill them, just scare the shi* out of them.
Charmaine Blake let the dogs use them as a chew toy for a bit
hypocrites, if you steal stop being mad about others stealing from you. (or learn about it and realize stealing is evil) Like some people don't consider it that bad of a crime, but then you realize they may be taking things others literally cannot afford to lose (not talking specifically in cases of stealing packages) and it makes me so angry, like what if they steal a couple hundred bucks someone was saving for their child's college or something, I still remember that line from that one eminem song and just the thought of someone so emotionlessly taking something someone has strived for months if not years to get angers me so much. Just imagine something you worked very hard to get and it is suddenly is gone, weeks, months or years of work gone cause someone doesn't have the heart or the willingness to care for others.
I feel far harsher towards them (thieves), my family’s car was broken into at church a few weeks from Christmas (2008) and I was hit the hardest (visiting from out of town all of our stuff was in the car). I don’t believe death is a fair punishment but definitely a few years (few months to 10 years) depending on how egregious the circumstance was (broken with fam or just a POS).
i go with kill them

The worst part about this is if medical supplies are stolen that someone actually depends on.
If that were the case then you wouldn't have them delivered in such a way that they are just left at your door when you are not home. Most of these packages are Amazon purchases or Christmas presents being sent to people. When you order something important then you sign for it, and if you are not home then they leave it at the nearest postal outlet or 7/11.

How so. No one is dying because of missing packages, but people who think they can get away with driving however they feel like is a danger to us all, and takes peoples lives every single day. Amazon will replace your package for free if it gets stolen. Plus, by putting it on TV like this, now the thief will know to open the package and remove the goods right there on the yard and leave behind the tracker. The cops only know its been stolen when they take the whole box with them. This is just a PR stunt, and a way to sell that Ring system they push through the whole video.

Im from Australia and we really don't have a problem like that here. It does happen every now and then but nowhere near as bad as the US. The way our mailing system works is that when a parcel is delivered the delivery driver actually knocks on the door and hands it to the owner. If no one is home on the day, then the package is dropped off at the nearest post office and a "attempted delivery" slip is left in the mail letting the owner know their package is at the post office and they need to go and pick it up. I think that would be much cheaper then inserting GPS trackers in package's. If the Thief takes the package then removes the contents and throws the box away, then there's really no way to find the item anymore. By the time the owner gets home, realises their package is missing and tries to track it, it's long gone.
That's how it's done in the US. UPs and FedEx are the ones who leave packages. But they can hold onto the packages if you want to pick it up yourself.
Its not much of a problem here in reality. Sure, it happens, but the media makes it seem WAY more common than it actually is.
Cheers Brallan for clearing it up a little for me. Didn't know the US has that option also.... Honestly Benjamin i thought it was a massive problem there because the amount of videos ive seen, it actually looks like parcel theft is out of control. Sometimes it even makes the evening news here so most of us think its a massive problem. Thank for the heads up 👍

Why they don't deliver the packages to the neighbours like in the EU? It's that simple.
Putting it into context with an example would make a hell of a lot of sense
Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. At least from my experience. I personally wish they didn't (I don't trust people that easily), but thankfully my neighbors have all been pretty chill with it. ~shrugs~
@Lithus17 yes that's exactly what they do
Put it in your delivery notes and whoever handles your package will honor it though don't fault him/her if said neighbor(s) will not be home. This is assuming you trust him/her and are at a reasonable distance. It'd be a waste of time in the country where the houses are _very_ spaced out. The USA is the complete opposite of the EU. You're right about the douchebags who follow a delivery service vehicle. Being vigilant can only help so much and we're told to keep an eye out for that. It is difficult to tell among thousands of drivers who may be doubling back and stealing stuff. Alternately these same people have a day off from their part-time job at McDonald's and just aimlessly cruise random suburban areas for things to nab because hardly anyone's home during the day.

Truly, what did you expect from scum buckets? Peace on Earth, Good Will towards men?
As a European I just cannot understand how just leaving a package on the doorstep can ever be permitted.
The delivery company would be 100% liable if the package wasn't signed off by the recipient at the (agreed) delivery adress and then got stolen.
Stealing is a scummy thing to do, but stealing from someone at christmas, thats a whole other level of shitweasel.
i think this is weird, in my country they never leave packages at the door.
if you are not home you will get notice that you can pick up your package at the post office.
simple solution.
Also you can add an option to deliver it to your neigbours with consent if your not home, the postmen will have to leave a note saying where it is delivered.
I like to be informed of my delivery But at same time I also look to see what option the delivery company has. I would see if the package could be on hold at a post office or local UPS or FedEx Store. Also, see if one of the Amazon package holding centers is near your house.
I've seen some people have even installed anchored package drops at their house. Only problem is they are expensive and the person installing it needs to use good bolts to anchor it in place.

Exodus 22, "a thief is caught tunneling, and is beaten to death, thier is no blood guilt"
Kyle Jones they still do that in Some countries
@Anthony Lopez Stealing someone else's worked-for items is barbaric. Not saying that it's what should be done, but if all the people who did things like this suddenly disappeared, the world wouldn't mourn or miss a beat because these people are leeches on society.
Happened to me twice. I now ship to my work place. I live 10 mins away from home. I would get the alert and leave immediately. Stuff gone that quick. Camera caught everything but police never caught the thief.
Porch pirates should face major felony charges where they are jailed for at least two years. It's appalling behavior.
Explosive fake packages are sounding like a great idea.
Tear gas would be nice. Too bad it wouldn't work that well in an open area.
Waste of money to get a P.O. Box 📦 since most companies or a-lot of them won’t ship to a P.O. Box 📦
Just use an Amazon locker or ask a neighbor to accept it ...
They need to increase the punishment for this so it will sort of deter people from even stealing packages in the first place. Shit, give em a month in jail and a fine.
It makes me annoyed to hear the whole PO Box recommendation considering that's all I use and online stores treat me like crap because of it.
RIGHT!?!? “We’re sorry. This item can not be delivered to a PO Box”
I thought they were gonna SHOW some sting operations not TALK about sting operations. I wanted to see some thieves get caught red-handed!!!
Yet, we still have "Butt pirates".
When will we get to working on that?
We must turn them against one another! Let them wipe each other out.
There's a new invention, it's called the store
Sounds like a cave.
Come to Vegas. They love breaking into cars and steal packages from doors
SMASH AN GRAB ARE OLD IN CALI
Living in that shit stain of a city is a whole L
I love breaking their heads and stealing the zest they derive from stealing.
4 phone for free who really losing lol
Thief: This is free real estate.
Police: Well yes, but actually no.
Thief: A shit, here we go again.
This is a better use of officers than giving random people tickets.
