I never like persona or iriz before.. being a family man i need a good space and cheap car.. before this i bought a 2nd hand car and end up paying about 15k on maintenance.. despite having alza, it is 2010 model and not fun at all in highway cruising.. so after lot of research and on my tight budget i try on kia k2 sedan.. unluckily my loan doesnt pass because bank said it is pre reg (2nd hand tag). So end up buying persona exec. To my surprise, my new car is way better than proton test drive car.. and the more i use it, the more i lov it.. despite the cvt slugginesh, this persona cvt + engine tune is balance in way its carry the body.. the cvt is not as good as other brand cvt, but the power is there all the time.. not feeling slow cvt as nissan despite it smoothness (tried on fluence).. after 1 year 9 months of ownership i am happy with this new persona.. on 39k km, no issue rather than faulty speaker which i already replace with better one.. so far, proton car and proton sc is somewhat surprisingly very very good.. even claim on false start accident before and it only takes about 2 weeks for repairing front part including new radiator, new super rigid metal which cost 1k, new bonnet, new bumper.. overall for 50k paid, it is more than enough.. cvt broken? Meh, drive it like cvt not regular at la..
I stopped looking down on this car when my father brought one home. And since that moment i’m impressed with the car until today. The standard spec is very value for money since mechanically the personas are same throughout the range.
Mine is Persona executive. For 1 year 2 months ownership, the sequek at dashboard and side door is there. Nothing I can do as national car always like this 😑. But I love the handling experience. Its just something there that makes me feel comfortable and easy on the road. Engine, CVT is ok. Power is there. the sluggish cvt just need time to get used to it. Overall i give 7/10 for this car. Mostly because value for money
When Persona came out in 2015. I compared it with my sister's city. Both use cvt gears. City has vsc, but persona is better, persona has vsc, traction control and hill hold assist. Persona's Back seat is longer buy one inch, using mum's tape. And the body of persona is made of high tensile steel just like the new civic. Yes, value for money. Cheers

As a persona premium cvt owner what I can say is that persona cvt premium is better than honda city gm6 pre facelift spec S and E but equivalent to spec V. Yes persona is value for money because the price difference is more than rm30k if you compare between persona cvt premium and honda city v spec gm6 pre-fl.
Overall at this price it's a good buy .My gripes: after 6mths usage dashboard squeaks (same like my 2016 iriz.both bought new), cvt jerky at crawling jams.

Regarding the rear seat head rest, I think the reason for it to be non adjustable aside from cutting cost is because Persona is targeted at small family, which as you guys expected, it will be mostly kids sitting at the back. It's good to have but for me it's not a deal breaker. The major annoyances for me is the exclusion of metallic trim on the interior and no foldable seat for standard variant. I'm not sure if the cost cutting here is really necessary. *gotta complain about standard variant since my 3 pedal Persona only available in this basic package

The fuel consumption is on the high side compared to other cars in the same segment but since I pay low price for the car n I got to drive a manual, it doesn't really matter. And paying low for monthly means I have extra money to spend on upgrading the car. Suspension has been replaced with Ftuned CLS for more aggressive stance while maintaining comfort. Wheels upgraded to 16" with quality tires (Goodyear assurance). Head unit upgraded to Sony with Apple Car play support. So if you like to modify your car, getting standard manual is a good option.

@@dineshdinesh2001 it's most probably the manual variant only built if there is order from showroom, no ready stock unlike auto standard variant. They probably ask you to get other variant which they already have stock in hand.
The cvt fluid used by proton on this punch cvt is mineral oil only. You may try to change it by using fully sync cvt fluid brand like comma, it will make big differences, less cvt noise and lower temperature, can last for linger mileage and smoother driving too.
love this dugong..owned the executive model as i didn't like the "Hi Proton" infotainment on Premium model as its pretty much a very basic version of what it can actually do compare to those in X50 & X70 & i don't think that two tone 15" rim is a necessity as well as i can change to a better 16" rim in the future..the only thing that i do feel the miss in the executive model is airbag where i only have 2 instead of 6 in premium model the best about this new facelift is that how they remake the looks at the rear bumper to make all the "this bumper doesn't look right" feeling on previous model gone just like that..the rim change is also one of the best decision made by Proton..now the side profile didn't look too weird anymore..but i think they can't do much on the front looks although the DRL positioning is smart..but still acceptable nonetheless..for the car with the price tag, can't complaint much & yeah, i dont care about front fog light..& i don't even know if i do need a rear fog light either although my persona have it..but DRL looks cool
why they remove the headlight levelling? I love using those adjuster especially in highway road.. and on very dark road without cars, you will find it very beneficial
Driver seat is big and comfortable for a 6ft tall person 😊 Couple of things I didn't like: it doesn't have automatic central door lock. Have to manually press the button to lock all doors. The updated media player, Joox, requires you to register for an account and to scan the QR code to play. Sometimes, it's not a 1 off scan. I'd have to rescan again from time to time.
It has automatic central lock. The doors lock automatically after 20km/h. U can try long pressing the door lock button long to turn on/off this feature.
nothing to talk about value or not, coz this is the cheapest B segment sedan in Malaysia... other options like City or Vios cost extra rm20k more... unless the City or Vios price different by rm5k to rm8k... then we will see alot of City and Vios on the road.. if u want a budget B segment sedan, this is the only choice... take it or leave it... : D
I had the 2016 std persona as my 1st car..never liked the exterior but had to buy it bcoz was on tight budget..after 3 yrs of driving it, i could say it was such a very2 good buy..then last yr i sold it because wanted to try a non-cvt car hence i subscribe a conti car..driving a conti is absolutely amazing but having to pay above 1k monthly for the conti really made me thinking to revert back to persona where i just have to pay 50-60% lesser monthly..im in dilemma..
Adrian: Don't have fog lamps but it's okay as it prevents you guys from misusing it. With that logic might as well don't put high beam lights cause people like to flash others
Mine 1.6 MT. My opinion is change new tyres and change to 16 inch rims. It will looks better..other than that, no complain..really value for money...i merely use 10% of my salary to pay monthly..

Answering on behalf, as Persona owner: 15" with 195/55 tire 16" with 195/50 tire Need to make sure the wheel fit the fender as well. Some wheels have very negative offset (the lip is further from the hub) so it's easy to hit the fender when going over bumps. Avoid 205 width tire as it will make the car slightly lazy to turn.
I own Persona facelift 2019 exec variant first batch.....already 1 year 3 month using it with ODO 17k something....mostly using for long journey.....rattling sound at HU sometime at ugly road and the clearcoat on black part at bumper peel off...already approve for claim on that clearcoat after 2 days complaint at proton edar SC KB but not yet go for it because no time....thats the only problem i got so far...other than that it is very value for money car....my brother buy honda city hybrid on 2019....the quality of rearview camera is really worst compare to persona especially at night....honda city seat also not comfortable at all.....the seat in city is lowered making your knee bend up.....compare to persona seat, i can sleep like a baby become passenger in it....haha
yes!!! i totally agree, the persona reverse camera is far better than myvi and even HONDA CITY. One of my friend driving the 2018 Honda City Full Spec, he was surprise on the persona reverse camera when he sat on my car. felt satisfied for it. Regarding the HeadUnit rattling sound is very common known issue for IRIZ and PERSONA. I dropped my car to SC to repair about 3 working days, when i received my car the rattling sound totally gone and feel like a brand new car :). fyi mine persona is 2017 Full Spec.

It's a great value for money car but Proton's QC lets it down (power window, gear shift LED, dashboard squeks, etc...) So I skipped this in my consideration

That's a clutch based CVT. You need to be a bit patient with the transmission to clutch in first. After it's clutch in, off you go to the races.

I get 6.3 l/100km. dont hog dont floor pedal. cvt lifespan will also be better. only sometimes can la when it comes to emergency.

My sisters still use cvt saga flx 2011 and iriz cvt 2015. No issues.

No fun driving CVT. Cannot do rough pedal press to floor often. Rubber pulling metal, something is not right. Rear suspension should independent.

goodyear/Continental will do. it reduces the noise and high grip perf.
When will they make another preve. The old preve still look evergreen compared to this elongated bubble shaped car. If they just put an improved engine with a good 5-6 at (or any cvt that’s not made by punch) it will surely cannibalise city and vios sales
Persona vs myvi ad which is better car value for money?
Persona. It has better space, better power. At least for me as a family man with 2 kids. You will appreciate any sedan with boot. Myvi is good as a city car or 2nd car
I got persona and my younger brother got myvi... My older bro drive both, and he prefer persona
Persona: 1.6L engine, bigger boot space, better highway stability, and cruising performance
Myvi AV: ADAS, better fuel economy, easier to park

Yeap, not as spacious. But the cut out in the front seats helps to free up some legroom

Actually, the Persona is quite competitive, ESC standard on all variants, Online infotainment connectivity, auto headlamps, dedicated USB charging ports, and 1.6L. Remember, this car car debut in 2016

It's a great value for money car but Proton's QC lets it down (power window, gear shift LED, dashboard squeks, etc...)
So I skipped this in my consideration
