I am using 2018 model. One of the best when it comes to handling wise since I always travel from Johor to Pahang. For the low price the handling is quite good.

The steering logo so perfectly centred. It doesn't wobble out of focus when spinning around. Smooth to my ocd eye.

@@haziqahp6484 good all around drive from island to mainland Penang. Full tank lasts around 7 days for my commute. Fuel economy will be bad when there's traffic jam. Overall, a fun drive. Need to be wary of the Cvt. Has its own attitude. Comfortable to sit in for aure
Been driving the 2019 Proton Persona since new and I got to say proton has improved a lot. Switched to persona for my daily needs because I used to own 1 car with a 3.0 turbo and the fuel consumption was too high for the type of work I've been recently doing. If Proton was able to harness an additional 10hp from the engine then it would be a perfect daily driver, the pickup could be better (general cvt characteristics) but the response from 1500 to 4000 rpm is smooth and effortless for normal use. Car and Engine remains quiet up to 95kmh but can definitely hear the engine at at 100 above onto illegal speeds. I think Proton has done a great job with this car for this price range. Active safety could be better but It has a good balance between great handling and comfort level for a B segment car. That being said I will never give up my weekend car tho cuz I feel there is something missing in my life without it 😂. Overall Proton did a great job, just hoping its reliability and longevity will be great for years to come.
Ya, if the engine can have an additional 10hp, that's would be perfect. Btw, my Persona mc2 came alive whenever I speed over 3k rpm.

Good handling and less noisy compared to king myvi for sure. If only Proton's reliability is not an issue.
Once the Punch CVT is out of the way, the engine itself isn't really prone to any major reliability issues if looked after well.
Hence why I got myself a manual Iriz.

Uncle Khong didnt say Myvi has bad handling, infact he enJoy driving it up to Genting Hill and ended up with saying… he loves the Myvi… only those not an pro driver will complaint… I find the Persona handling is Just slightly better than others… not till great

I drove before the older one in Sabah it’s quite a nice to drive car except the noisy cvt, by the way it equipped with a bit of engine braking when descending, extremely useful for long mountain descending drive in Sabah cross town trips

Ohh that was an engine breaking? I donno that. I oso drove the brand new Persona 2022 here in Sabah. Happily drive on Tambunan-Ranau-Keningau way if you know it.
@@halfease96 it felt like manual gear when u descend mountain road with gear 2 or gear 3, layman term: gear dragging down hill. i was using D all the way for KK-Ranau and kimanis- Keningau, really surprised with that feature for a cvt gearbox, less dependent on brakes and safer for mountain road descending

We alrdy have a 1.3l myvi, so we plan to buy a 1.6l persona, i had tested this car, for me the driving feeling more comfortable compare to my myvi. And we also need a bigger car boot thats why we choose persona. And I'm actually waiting for uncle review for this car before I order this car😁 .

This is the best handling car in its class. None of the Japanese or Korean makes even come close to this car.
I would beg to differ. Don't get me wrong, the Proton's are still pretty good for its class, but to say the recent Korean and Japanese cars aren't close isn't accurate. One example, I have an Iriz, and I've driven a Kia Picanto. To be frank I find the little Kia to be more exciting to drive in some situations.
Do remember when the Iriz and Persona was out, Perodua was still selling the 2nd gen Myvi and that is indeed world's apart in terms of driving dynamics.
Everyone had started catching up since.
@@germaineliew2012 Korean cars are so good nowadays, their reliability, fit and finish can match or surpass Japanese cars.

@Royal Prince Even the current Vios/Yaris (Non TNGA) is quite decent in terms of handling.
Albeit more on the comfort side compared to the Proton. Only downside of the Yaris really is the rather dead and heavy steering feel.

Tested with the same cc's bro. I would offer my Saga 2020 as example. Starting from far way below to the top took less than half an hour enjoying the curvy road..it's true comfortable & confidence going uphill. My little 6yr old kid as my co-driver really love it. Guess what, she asking for another round. 😂 Daddy says : HELL yeah! 😂

Great driving as always but can’t really lie the fact that its a hideous car. I love how professional you handled cars at corners especially when you drove the Perodua Bezza. I know how challenging it is to drive first gen Perodua Bezza

Uncle Khong always smile in whatever cars he drives… even in the Myvi G3 that most stated as handling sampan, for Uncle… its a fun car to drive and he likes it… actually… a cars handling is all depends on its driver… give u an E43 AMG and ended up in longkang… are u telling people that E43 AMG handling are very poor? its the driver’s issue… not the car
Tbh, there isn't a "bad handling" car these days, sure, some are better than others, but the gap between all of them isn't as big.
The days of Perodua with "sampan handling" is very long ago.

Is the gearbox oil filter inside the gearbox. Can it be removed from underneath or have to dismantle the gearbox assembly?

Uncle YS the CVT drone sounds a lot softer in comparison to the Myvi's D-CVT, is it also true in real life or is that merely not reflected accurately through the recording?

I tested both.. For me DCVT myvi is better and more fine tuned..response is immediate.. But then due to poor insulation of myvi, yeah you are right.. Myvi CVT is more noisy.. More is understatement.. I would say very very noisy compared to iriz or persona
Sometimes it is where the microphone is placed, and sometimes it is the tuning of the cvt.

I am quite impressed. There is a CVT whine but it’s very subtle and unobtrusive. It’s also consistent from downhill to uphill. I daresay it sounds more refined than even the latest Civic and Accord, both of which got annoyingly whiny towards the top.
However, you need to compare the speeds, the size, and overall comfort. Also note that sometimes, the recorders pick up different levels of sound.

@@livelikecactus3732 Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) is a gear which it change ratios continously to fit the speed you’re at. You dont hear it shifting like an Automatic Transmission (AT) which makes CVT smoother than AT. CVT also whine really loud at high speed. (This is from what I understand about CVT).
Look like the persona 2022 more refined compare to mine, 2020 model, engine sound is nicer, more powerful I guess because uncle looked relax and easy drive this car up to the top.

I am planning to buy the Executive model. 2 questions, 1. Is there a overheating problem with Proton 1.6lit engines? 2. After all the hard braking, how does the brakes perform aftermath?

Punca mostly drpd SC sbb isi air paip dlm radiator dan menyebabkan karat & terus radiator tersumbat. Even dh flush, dh tukar cap radiator, thermostat pun x jalan, because Iriz and Persona VVT punya radiator hose tu pendek or nipis mcm tu lah I pun x fhm sangat, so sensitive mcm tu. This is what I know from FB group. But ada kedai specialist utk kes ni and dpt solve kan. This is the problem that owner Iriz & Persona VVT risaukan, but this case jadi after 3 years and lepas servis dgn SC, because some Service Centre x bertanggungjawab. So ppls decide utk service radiator dkt luar dan ada yang buat sendiri, dan the result dh pakai 8 years pun x pernah sumbat lagi dan x pernah ada overheat issue.

Thank you for making this fun video uncle. I've been waiting for you to review this model lol. I wanna buy this car but I read the review, most Persona mc2 owners complain about the head unit. Even in this video, the head unit light started to blink around 10:20 followed by the dashboard also. Is this a minor problem that maybe we can ignore? Seeking for advice 🤓. Btw I'm a new driver and maybe this is gonna be my first car ever 😂😂.
The blinking is not due to any fault - it's the frequency of the led versus video frequency not matched. I seldom test the audio sets, but this is an entry level car after all.

I had my mc2 for 2 months now. So far not much of problem except some rattling noise from the back seat . And the door panel is allergic to the hand santizer.hahaha. no problem with the head unit but it will take some times (2-3second) to play songs

Hi Uncle Khong ... The Gear S in persona is for what use? is it stand for Sport mode or ? just for uphill?
It is to lock the gear in a lower ratio so that it does not go up. You can use it foe crawling along at low speed with power, or any time that you do not want the gear to shift up. When the road straightens up, you can shift to D and this will allow the transmission to shift to a higher gear.

Proton should have included a turbocharger or hybrid motor, this will greatly enhance the performance of the car.
Hahaha, good idea, but then people will complain about price, because we will need bigger brakes, better tyres, better cooling, and a manual gearbox.

Tapi bagi sy la rase syg klw nk beli myvi 2nd dgn harge 30k. Lebih baik sy amek city atau vios tambah lagi beberape ribu je...

Hi Hi Uncle Khong. I recently bought a Persona Premium after spending one whole month watching all RUclipsrs' recommendations and positive comments about this car. I didn't even test drive it, because I believe all RUclipsrs know better than me, especially the "technical feel" of driving this car. I am aware that everyone is saying fuel consumption is acceptable ok (not to compare to Perodua), the product sheet also claim it consumes 6.6l - 8.1l / 100km.... BUT, my first 100km driving in Puchong (75%) and PJ (25%) recorded 8.5litre (based on the multi-info display). The traffic was not that congested, and I don't consider myself a rough driver. Is the reading normal? some parts / tuning in the car go wrong? or i am too early to judge it?
City driving versus highway driving will show some variances.
Also driving style, tyre pressure and road conditiins will also affect consumption.
Puchong and PJ are heavy traffic areas, so you may not get ideal consumption

City Hatchback has 121 ps, definitely more power.
a 1.8 motor with a taller final drive would make it more flexible in town and relaxed at highway cruising.
This is a cvt, but the tuning is very different from others.
Proton boleh design kereta bg lawa sikit… dekat area tayar tu, ruang minta besarkan sikit, ni saya tgk kereta park sebelah2, antara persona dgn mini cooper, alahai ruang tayar kereta proton keciknya berbanding mini cooper.. padahal mini cooper tu dua pintu kecik ja keretanya

Both have Macpherson struts and torsion beam arrangements, and are about the same height. Should be about the same.
I also have 1,mc2 persona…this car is kuat eat minyak,aiyooo…i thought this car jimat ,I really keliru about eco system like don blieve,when push that eco button it suddenly like don have function 😢,but so ok laa use sja laa dpada jln kaki😌
Hi Uncle, what's your verdict between this car and Honda City (or Vios) in terms of the overall driving experience? Been in great dilemma choosing them? Altho I've booked for both city and persona now
When you select a car, go for what you need, what you can afford, and what you like
Personally I own the new City it's so fun to drive with especially with the pedal shifters also the interior is a lot better in the city torque wise it feels like there's more torque then it clearly states handles very very well at top speeds I'm talking 190-200. Personally look wise the City the best looking for me. Also I've had my fair share of experience being in the Persona and Vios, would definitely whole heartedly pick the City anyday

It depends on your taste and requirements. One is a SUV and the other is a sedan.
youngsters look better in Sedan, Ativa more to family person but Ativa cc is small tho
Just got my proton persona exec 2022 for a few days, overall it was great 🎉 despite some minor cons and one of them was the pickup (not sure if its the correct word) but when i press on the oil, it wont immediately accelerate, its kinda delayed so sometimes when i want to turn out at junction, im abit scared to do so as its abit delayed. Isit normal for proton persona??? Please let me know yarrr thank you~~~ 😊😊
The acceleration is consistent with that of a 1.6 liter NA car with a CVT.
With 106 ps power you need to put more revs down in order to get power. Try stepping on it a bit harder.

They are both identical mechanically and one has a boot while the other doesnt. Just pick the one you like.
