An Irish legend
Rory was a beautiful, Irish guitar god! Thanks for the reaction!
Rory is the greatest!!!!
the word legend was invented for rory........................
And he was the madlad on the guitar
Love me some RORY!!! Check out his bass player just pushing it the whole time.
I'm speechless..no frills, no autotune, this is a man playing for the love of it..and what about that bass and drums..awesome performance
Rory we love you forever 💚☘
Athens Greece 1981 💙🇬🇷🎤🎤🎤🎸🎸🎸
Always a gentleman who loved his fans not the big corporations. I struggle when people talk about legends but Rory will always be a legend.
R.I.P. Rory Gallagher.
Rory Gallagher was born in The Rock Hospital, Dun na nGall (Donegal), Ireland.
Tir Chonaill to give it its true name
He's a cork man
Keep in mind this was 2 + hours into the show. Voice cracking but his energy was incredible.
Rory- still my all time favorite Blues/Rock Celtic player. He was as humble as he was fantastic.
The crowd is crazy about him!!!! I am too! You have to check out his many many other songs. This guy is so versatile with his musicality its insane!
Rory was great!
What 100% looks and sounds like.
Watch more Rory. It's worth it.
Rory is amazing great singer and the best guitarist rest in peace Rory you will never be forgotten❤
Being from Cork, I was raised on Rory, he is a hero back home. It's incredible to me, the level of control and skill he had, because not only is everything perfect with his guitar playing, but it's so easy and effortless for him, that he can go for a walkabout, interact with the crowd, do whatever he wants. He never drops a note, his playing is perfectly clear, he was amazing.
My Grandma was born in county cork
This was Rory, Gerry and Ted. Rory WAS the 70s. None better. Epic gigs always. "Shin Kicker" "Off the handle" " what in the world" "Tatood Lady" "Moon child" The list goes on and on!! 👍✌
See what we had to listen to in the 60s and 70s . I met Rory in 75 in San Diego . He was one of the openers for Jethro tull He was a madman on stage and almost shy in person.
He never compromised his music or his fans for fame. Stayed true to himself and his fans. Hendrix was asked How does it feel to be the greatest guitar player in the world? He said I don't know, you should ask Rory Gallager.
Rory was my first hero and the first concert I saw. Then there where many more guitarists I liked. But Rory stil be the one.
Dont forget Gerry McAvoy on bass, outstanding.
I saw Rory live, twice, the most amazing shows of my life. The saddest thing was when this amzing artist died. I cried.
A great talent that who was taken from us too soon. Heavy drinker and his liver just couldn't handle it, he died at 47 years old.
Popenyco, in a barren desert of Reaction posers and wannabees, you stand out as a genuine oasis.
What you have just seen and heard is a rare example of when man and guitar become as one.
The reason Rory Gallagher is unknown to the "general" public is simply, that he didn't care about
stardom or becoming a celebrity. All he cared about was his music and his fans. It's called integrity!
Keep up the good work, and feed your head! Now, pass me the ligther!🎸🎸🎸🎸
Well said Tom!
His vocals and overall demeanor giving off HAMMERED vibes in this one. Crowd work, one-foot choreo, and he was somehow STILL in the pocket.
Yeah this song was played at the end of the show. Seen him live, he could deliver & capture the crowd. At the same time he never gave in to fame and stayed true to his roots.
Pleasure to see him multiple times in 70's and 80's in Belfast. His was the must see gig every new year. Glad you appreciate him, so underated but probably his choice as he wasn't a singles guy, just albums and gigs.
Rory was always 'all in'. The legends legend and my lifelong hero. 👌❤
Great to see people watching this great guitar player nowadays. One thing if I may please, the second “g” in Rory’s ancient Irish surname is silent. So it should be pronounced “Galla-her”,
Well pointed out 🇮🇪👍
Love your reaction to the great Rory !❤️🇨🇮🇺🇸
I'm a wee bit jealous. somebody, somewhere is hearing this for the first time. It's RORYFUCKINGALLAGHER!
I can’t believe you dug this one up. One of Rorys best ever. Cool.
Not just a great guitarist but a full on entertainer, a guy who absolutely loved his job and wanted to give his punters their moneys worth.
rory gallagher shin kicker live, crazy good, go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rory is one of the GREATEST rock guitarists who has ever played, kudos to you for reacting to it good man!
You get a shiver in the dark
it's raining in the park but meantime
you stop and behold everything
We are the Sultans
We are the Sultans of Swing🎸😀
Rory:
Walk on Hot Coals live in spain It's on ytube
Me again. Check out Rory with "Taste", late 60s (Isle of Wight 1970)
Nothing more honest than a 3 piece rock blues combo. None more so than Rory & the boys. Three mates living their best lives right there.
The reason us old guys recommend all these old clips, is because we like to relive our past. You'll be in the same boat one day mate. Ha!Ha! Keep up the great work. Always great to see musical history through the eyes of you young pups. God bless you.
I live in Ireland and saw Rory many times and met him once - such a nice guy. What I always say is that if Superman played guitar his name would be Rory Gallagher
i sub because you did this !!! hes the maestro the king hes equal to hendrix and Van Halen...period
Thanks for doing this bud. Rory IS one of the greats. 👏👏🇮🇪🇮🇪
shinkicker, tattooed lady or philby next please
I wish I could have been there. One of the best shows in Montreux ever!
The 13th God of Rock here in Greece!
Oh Rory, i will never forget your concerts. Your playing sounds was like a revolution in the middle 70 ths and i (we) have seen the most of your concerts in europe and it was such a great time with you. R.I.P.
Rory will ALWAYS be a Legend!!!
I’m liking your stuff you know good music when you hear it…👍
I have seen Rory many times and he was brilliant every time. If you wanted to sweat back in the day, just go to a Rory Gallagher concert. RIP Rory, you are greatly missed.
Rory Gallagher. The first and finest guitarist Power Trio. Rory just tears the leads with his 61 Strat. Jerry MacAvoy drives the dynamic bass. Rory was so creative and talented and loved his fans. His fans loved and protected their brilliant Irish bluesman. I love Rory Gallagher. RIP Rory. I never get enough of Rory.
Rory is one of the best rock blues player ever, no wonder that Hendrix when asked from Rolling Stone magazine "How's to be the best guitar player in the word?" He answered " Ask to Rory Gallagher".
I saw Rory playing Brighton UK many years ago and he was awesome
not true I'm afraid
The story is true but it wasn't Rolling Stone,it was The Mike Douglas tv show Saw the great man 3times, nobody better live ☘
@@terrybarton1604 it's not true bro. I wish it was but it's not.
@@woody816 Think you'll find it is bruv.Hendrix also talked up Billy Gibbons, Terry Kath and others, not just Rory☘🙄🤜🤛
That was great. I don’t know enough about him.
You can fix that mate.

"I Wonder Who" from Rory Gallagher Live In Belfast and his "Do You Read Me" from Rock goes to college are MUSTS!
In answer to your question, the band is just called Rory Gallagher. The bassist Gerry McAvoy was a mainstay by his side throughout, but they were quite a number of different drummers over the years.
He really was a great guitarist. Listen to Philby, Do you read me, Bad Penny, Tatoo´d lady or Going to my hometown
much respect for reacting to one of the GOATS!
This kind of purity must come back if the younger generations want to carry on the genre of 'Rock' music. It has to strip itself back to 3, 4. or 5 hot people on a stage just FEELING their way through, letting moments stay when they fit, and letting songs end with dignity if the feel isn't right. No IEMs, no technician in your ear cueing you in through a song with "1, 2, 3..." No set end to a song. Rock is meant to be raw, in the moment, ready to catch the mood of the musicians and the audience in each moment, not some 'perfect', micro-managed, logistical masterpiece of engineered synchronicity and time, every concert a virtual carbon copy of the one the night before. If Rock is to survive, it has to get rid of a lot of 'professionals' and insist on a Band controlling their own instinctive journey through a concert.
THE GREATEST SIMPLE AS THAT.
THE GOAT
Rory is an Irishman and one hell of a guitarist. He passed away in the 90s I believe. The great Jimi Hendrix said of Rory, "He's the best guitarist nobody has ever heard of." That's quite a compliment from a guy considered by most, to be the greatest guitar player ever.
Rory would rather play to a couple hundred people in a small venue, the to 50,000 screaming idiots, that are shouting louder then his music. He's in my top 3 all time greatest guitarists. #1. Jimi Hendrix. He changed the world of Rock. Nobody had ever heard someone make a guitar do what Jimi did. #2. Johnny Winter. The smoothest Blues man on guitar I've heard. #3. Rory Gallagher, Rough, raw, gritty, he punishes his guitar and leaves it all out on the stage in every performance.
He didn’t play big gigs, turned down the Stones to tour in Japan. He’d play anywhere that wanted him👍
Rory on!!
Kudos to the person who recommended this before I got a chance!
An outstanding blues rock guitarist who I was privileged to see live many times
He has streets named after him in Dublin and Cork!
And Paris!
@@kilo1981 also a statue in Belfast
Well done reaction man.. you made this old bit of musical history even better with your thoughtful comments.
I saw the legend 20 times or more.. watching him was like an exhilarating fairground ride in that the excitement he generated was tangible…
Incredible times watching THE master play his full-on experience.
You knew you were witnessing something you’d never see again .. a totally unique performer.. and he bought me and my brother a Guinness backstage after a gig.
That swirling sound is pretty unique to this song. Its insane! He could have repeated that technigue in other songs but nope. He had other magic too deliver. He was so original yet grounded in rock blues jazz
Proud to be irish thank you love it .
Your reaction....special, thankyou.
Your reaction is priceless !!! 😝👍
Rory was so talented! Another great musician from Ireland (along with Gary Moore). My list of favorite guitarists: Jimi Hendrix, SRV, Jimmy Page, Duane Allman, Johnny Winter, David Gilmour, Rory Gallagher, Gary Moore, Peter Green, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Robin Trower, Buddy Guy, Eddie Van Halen, John Cipollina, Danny Kirwan, Roy Buchanan and Carlos Santana.
And Brian May
@@chrisbyrne5358 Yes, and Brian May.
And Richard Thompson.
@@chrisbyrne5358 Brian is very good but not in the same league as Jeff Beck or Rory or Jimi
....and of course forgotten: the most underrated Steve Howe.
A awesome reaction video, it doesn't get a cooler or better than Rory Gallagher.
Good on ya for the shout out for the band World. Class
Bass and drums here too
Awesome reaction video. I just discovered Rory about 3 years ago. I’ve been playing guitar for a long time and had my top 5 set, but Rory went straight to my top 2.
I saw Rory with his original band Taste open in Toronto in 1969 for Blind Faith and he stole the show - when BF came on Eric Clapton felt he had to top Rory so he played the lead wah wah solo to Presence of the Lord behind his back
aguante rory cheee!!
He was underrated. I wish I had the chance to see him live
Uno de los mejores de todos los tiempos!
Great reaction to one of Rory’s best solo’s imho. This influenced me to subscribe to your channel. Not a lot of people doing what you do have looked into him. Saw him in live. Took 3 friends who had never heard of him and told them I would refund their money if they didn’t like the concert. They still thank me to this day!
Brilliant reaction
I am lucky to have seen many great bands (I am 72) and Rory Gallagher is one of them. Saw him open for CSN&Y in Chicago back in 1979 or 1980. What a fine 3 man group. Sadly his drinking caused his liver to shut down .RIP. Fender made an exact guitar copy of his Strat some years back and it was very pricey.
Rory was a fabulous guitarist. I bought the Taste albums as soon as they came out. Also saw him at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970.
Although you would hardly believe it watching this video, in real life Rory was a very quiet person and in fact became a bit of a recluse.
He was a close friend of Gary Moore, both being Irish. Rory from the South and Gary from the North.
When they first started out, because they had virtually no money, each would leave their guitar on stage for the other one in case they broke a string!
Could you please do another Gary Moore reaction? I have included the link below to Empty Rooms Live in Stockholm:

Love to see what you think.
Cheers and stay safe.
Regards from the UK.
😊😎🎸
Love your channel bro cheers from Dublin Ireland
Mix black and White
YOU GET ROCK & ROLL
❤️🇮🇪😎
Such energy, such virtuosity throughout the entire band
Holy shit, this is the show I saw on Armed Forces TV. Never heard of Rory before that.
Gerry the bass player is awesome
Hope they can do the festival next year 🙏 😬 down the road from me in the town he was born in
I have a video anthology of him, from when he was just a wet behind the ears kid, thrilled to be playing in a bar, and could barely string a couple blues licks together, to a grown man, in complete control of not only his guitar, but every member of the audience as well.
Rory was the inspiration for Brian May of Queen they went to see him a lot & a lot more guitarists too I’m sure x
Can hear Sultans of Swing rhythm here big time🎸
Saw him live twice! Awesome shows both times! Last time I saw him was 1984 in San Francisco at the old Waldorf!
Rory and Hendrix two of the greatest guitarists ever
You must do either Robin Trower “Day of the Eagle” or Jeff Beck “Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers” 🎸🤘🏼 I promise you will not be disappointed 😉
You should do A Million Miles Away from Irish Tour 74.
Definitely!
Yes! Contains one of the best solos I have heard. It’s not long but it’s wonderful
POPE as soon as I saw your head nodding I knew you were genuinely interested. What you saw in that video wasn’t just a one off performance . Rory and his band played at that level in every gig, bearing in mind he very often played 2 to 3 hours with no set list. In this video he had Gerry McAvoy on bass. and Brendan O’Neill on drums. Both his band mates also legendary in their own right. I’m a long way over 60 and took an interest in the man and his music many years ago and he has a massive back catalogue of material. Many thanks for putting this on here and you genuinely impressed me because you let it run without talking over it.
It doesn’t matter what you choose from Rory because every track is a great track. Last of the independents and bad penny are 2 really great choices especially the live extended versions. I don’t believe Rory and the boys ever played everything exactly the same way. They always made changes and improvised as they went along
A truely great performance. I dont wish to be pedantic but...that isnt Brendan on drums, it's Ted Mckenna from the Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Is that Reed Rothchild playing percussion!!!! 😀😀😀
Ted McKenna RIP
That was a heck of a show.
To hear why he is considered a great (my top 5) listen to Irish Tour '74 'Walk on Hot Coals'. Make sure it is the audio, not video version (they are not the same)
What he does with the guitar is unbelievable.
(I have 7 of his albums)
Someone once asked Jimi Hendrix how it felt to be the best guitarist in the world. Jimi told the interviewer "you will have to ask Rory Gallagher that question".
Check out song "Shin Kicker".
Gerry MacAvoy on Bass ;-)
and thats one of his slower tunes
So glad to have seen him live.. totally brill
Gall-A -HER 😎
GREAT VIDEO !
