As a survivor of a 4 hour Rory gig in the mid-Eighties I can tell you he was a force of nature.

RIP Rory! simply what you see is what you get, when he opened for rush ,he gave it his all and the crowd absolutely gave him the respect he deserved. one of 3 bands that successfully opened for rush, april wine and max websters being the other 2.

  • @keithnewbery8948

If you go to a concert and dont get this much energy from the performance, ask for your money back.

  • @John-fv8sc

Listen dude when players like Slash, Brian May, Eric Clapton and on say this guy was an influence and you take it so lightly then stick with whatever it is you listen to .

  • @paulmorris8762

i saw him and his band Taste open for Blind Faith in Toronto in 1969 and he stole the show from Clapton

He was a tornado! Glad I got to see him live like 20 times. No BS. Just balls to wall rock and roll.

  • @tomoleary7935

"A lot of the same chords"... ???..UNBELIEVABLE ...... is that all you're taking from this performance from one of THE MOST talented blues-rock guitarists of his era??? My goodness ..... you have SOOO MUCH TO LEARN.......

When Rush was getting a little notice they backed up Rory , Later on when Rush was a main attraction Rory backed them up , Alex would watch him play from the sides, Alex talked about how he learnt some tech from Rory which he used in his playing , Rory and Alex became close friends and hung out together they did not talk about music so much , more about life and books , They compared the situations between Ireland and Serbia where Alexes parents are from ,

Rory was born in Northern Ireland and formed the band Taste which was gonna be a huge group, people were thinking another Cream and then they played the Isle of Weight concert with lots of big acts and suddenly Rorey was turned off and went back to Ireland, bought the one guitar he played for his whole life for 100 English pounds and except for an acoustic used for bottle neck blues he never got another guitar in his life. During that period he had a visit from Mick Jagger offering him a place in the Stones to replace Brian Jones, but he demured and kept on living in Cork Ireland traveling to Europe, Japan, US and so many different places in the 70's and 80's and just kept bringing his version of the blues to people til he died rather young, a happy musician living in his homeland and occasionally going to Switzerland for the big concerts there once a year. From about 68 til even til this day I listen to Rory all the time. Now, I am 76 and my homies groan if they are riding in my car and start squawking, do we gotta listen to Rory again?
