REACTION! RORY GALLAGHER Shin Kicker LIVE
Rory Gallagher Reaction - Видеоклипы
Greatest guitarist and live performer that I ever saw
Rory is one of my favorite guitarist. Everything he does is great. Don’t know why he is not better known
The very tip of the iceberg for Rory. His talent was so diverse and embraced blues, rock, jazz, folk and a little bit of funk. He was a self taught multi-instrumentalist with acoustic/electric guitar, harmonica, mandolin, alto sax among his musical arsenal - a one of kind natural talent in a league of his own. Seeing him perform live was on an entirely different level than anyone else.
Hear hear Nora, I was lucky enough to see him live twice , his playing joy and enthsiasm was infectious ,had the audience rocking from start to finish ,great musician sadly missed.
the guitar, a battered '61 strat that rory bought in 1963, is in a museum. It's been played on stage by joe bonnamassa and one or two others. it's utterly iconic to us guitarists.
Saw Rory many years ago when playing in Taste. Great night.
an absolute top drawer player and gentleman 🤘🇮🇪☘😎
Rory was absolutely amazing. The man was ripping off an incredible solo while hopping across the stage on one foot. Legend.
Rory always played with fire. Good stuff.
That's Rory. Energy and more Energy.
Honestly, if you like rock, you can't help but start smilin' and rockin' with the energy. There was NO ONE who could touch Rory on stage when he was hot. He even blew Aerosmith off the stage (Joe Perry acknowledges that no one could touch Rory that night in his autobiography). Rory came alive in front of an audience, fed off of their energy and flew. There is a performance in Paris, France that, during "Bullfrog Blues" the audience gets on the stage. Rory keeps smiling and playing, eventually climbing on the amps and keeps playing all the while. Its pretty amazing. Rory would frequently walk out into the crowd at the smaller venues. He enjoyed the raw, organic roots of blues and rock and was not into the electronics. Thanks so much for this! It would be great if you did another Rory review-maybe "Who's That Coming?" from the Irish Tour '74 for a sample of his outstanding slide guitar work.
Agree and all in for more.
❤️ RORY
When Rush started out they were the back up band For Rory , All three members had nothing but praise for how Rory treated them , Also Alex would stand at the side of Rory every show to pick up techniques and Rory’s style of playing , Alex said a lot of what he uses came from What Rory did , Later on when Rush became the headliner band Rory backed them up Rory and Alex became very close friends till Rory’s death , Alex said when they got together the conversation was not much about music it was more history and philosophy, And comparing the Irish history with Alex’s Croatians history and noting they were very similar
He and Geddy were part of the documentary made of Rory and had high praise for him.
I first saw Rory in 1972 at the Great Western Festival. Absolutely fantastic. He actually did two sets as he stood in for Helen Reddy who was having a baby.He was such a down to earth guy, sadly missed.
Rory's brother has the guitar,it's priceless !!!
As a bass player yourself, you would enjoy Rory's performance of Bullfrogs Blue on The Old Grey Whistle Test from 1976, the bass solo by Gerry McAvoy is 🔥🔥🔥
One of the most sincere performers who died much too young. That guitar is still with his family and replica's (not very good may I add) were made by Fender Custom Shop. Apart from Page's Les Paul Standard which he toured with this '63 Strat is possibly the most valuable unrestored example in the world - even Dylans Black one of which five exist ! It will never come onto the market sol stay in Ireland to be loved as much as Rory for ever .
When he played there was a firetruck on standby outside
Check out In Your Town from the Beat-Club (Sessions). 1971.
I saw the guitar in Dublin on display quite a number of years ago now. It's like an old Medieval sword. It certainly doesn't look ornamental. It was used in battle, to continue the analogy. A beautiful wreck, with the paintwork worn away by sweat and Rory's arm action. I don't think I've ever seen any other guitar that holds the spirit of its owner so overtly.
The first solo is one of my all time favorites. It's that and Pink Floyd's Time. Incredible shit.
Rush opened for Rory in the beginning. There is an interview with Alex Lifeson.
he gets 100% on his rock-and-roll report card
I can't really think of a More versatile guitar player than him. I'm 63
the opening song of his set. can you imagine?
Rory era um vulcão no palco!!! Mais que incrível!! Meu vício..... Doce monstro.....
Phil Lynott was one of his biggest fans.
rory was one of the few bands that successfully opened for rush, you want to know how his strat got to looking like that? watch the song "shadow play" from the same concert footage, he literally drags it across the stage by the guitar cable. just a pure guitar player who gave you everything left nothing in reserve. RIP rory.
Legend Cork had a Rock Star 1❤❤❤
According to Rory's brother, Donal, who was also his manager, Rory had a rare blood type that made his sweat quite acidic. That was the main reason for the 'distressed' look of the Strat. His sweat peeled the paint off.
No one can match this guys energy on stage not just energy bud, he's a virtuoso guitar player, jimi hendrix loved him when he watched him at Isle of Wight festival in 1970! if you see him play acoustically you'll see how good he is, and he played alto sax, rory's a legend, we sadly lost him in 1995,no one will ever replace him, glad you enjoyed it👍
why do you feel the need to bring Hendrix it to it ?
@@peterjohnson617 because CONSTANTLY sainted when lists are written, along with clapton, page, beck etc, yawn!!! BUT,i'll bring who i like into it BUT THANKS anyway🤔🙄🤗
Rory was great!Think he opened for Rush either Signals or Grace
Yes and taught Alex how to do pinch harmonics !
Before that when Rush was not well known they Opened for Rory then After Rory opened for Rush , Alex and Rory became close friends
Beat guitar player ever!
The GREATEST ..... RORY RIP
Rory was a superb axeman, very much blues based but could really rock it out too. You should check out tracks Moonchild, Shadow Play, and Wayward Child. Such a shame he died so young in 1995 only 47 years old. What you saw with Rory was what you got, no experimental nonsense or 'new music' just a live show of pure rock n roll and pipe hitting riffs and solos. RIP Rory.
This is a shorter live performance for Rory, and usually he gives his base player a solo in there.
lets be honest ladies and gents, remember this is the montreaux JAZZ festival!
My favourite guitarist after Guthrie and Alex 😉👍
Sorry, Who is Alex??
@@stefaniaorlando4047 alex lifeson lol
Then sometimes he would play an acoustic set.he could mix both styles with ease.
This is why the aliens let us live!😂😂 u know they're Irish?!😊
Joe Bonamasa used that guitar in a concert..not sure where it went after that….
15 seconds in, you've already heard it
Not playing around with SISSY guitar pedals either
I am willing to be shot down on this but I was told a "shinkicker" was a colloquial name for over compressed cafe racer motor cycles- you kicked them to start and they kicked back.
Do you guys live on another planet
He knew he didn’t have the right to play the guitar that well that’s why he became an alcoholic out of guilt 😢
It happened to me! Well it would have if I’d bother to learn how to play 🥴
Great great man!
Made it through half of it. A big no from me. Something just doesn't work for me. Seems disjointed and the vocals. I'm no expert but sometimes it just doesn't work...
it's not guthrie ...
Kenneth, rory played that way, he didn't stand and play like clapton et al, his vocals on studio versions are better yes, but it wasn't about how great his vocals are or arn't live, if he stood still the playing would be less dis jointed, but not as exciting, his fans loved him, rory was a virtuoso, watch him play acoustically still, then you'll see how good he is, to be honest, I don't think you quite get what rory gallagher was about live!
@@geddylee501 thank goodness for that😊🙄
@@dougreed2257 lol how very dare you
@@geddylee501 hahahahaha, I like your sense of humour, no offense meant😉👍
