The Imperial Guard are the most important faction in 40k. All of these super soldiers, eldritch horrors and alien monstrosities mean nothing compared to each other. But when you have just regular dudes standing against them it gives you the contrast which ties the whole universe together.
The Imperial Guards are some of the most badasses in 40k lore considering how normal they are. Space Marines were programmed and rewired to not feel fear against the horrors they face. The Guardsmen are normal men who feel fear but chose to stand up, fight, and die against these nightmares.

Mate you have it reversed the Cadias were inspired by the Canadians forces for WWI. The Cadians were among the first IG themed forces created back in the early 90s. And given that the people at GW at the time were a bunch of Anti Thatcher anarchists one guess who was being represented by the Eye of Terror ;)
Sandy Addison, you realize the vast majority of GW founders, writers and original leadership are all staunch Tory’s? They collectively donated over 200,000 pounds to the Tory party via individual donations between 1987-1990. Where are you getting your info? They even made her into several favorable characters in fantasy and references to the Falklands victory. I’m an immigrant and even I know that.
One rare group of guard that I like are the "Auric Auxilia" who were Cadians who left the fall of Cadia with the imperial fists, swearing themselves to fight for them for their aid. Of course, I love fists so I'm biased.

Space Marines have to listen to their chapter masters, chaplains, etc. or face some serious corporal punishment or be outright executed and have been indoctrinated to be more loyal and fearless, not to mention are super humans. Inquisitorial retinues have to follow orders or get executed or worse. The entire military of the imperium runs this way, follow orders or get executed or wish you had been executed. The regular human soldiers who die in droves have infinitely more balls than any super human. The krieg are just nut cases though, it's not really bravery in their case, they literally want to die and do not fear it and needlessly throw away their lives even when it's not tactically advantageous to do so, to the point that commissars have to actively try to limit casualties rather than enforce discipline for the krieg to even be effective as an army. That said, I wouldn't have the krieg any other way, bless those gas masked shovel swinging mad men.

You really undersold the Elysians there. Those hardasses are dropped deep behind enemy lines on vital strategic targets and told to hold until relieved. Keep in mind they're dropped deep enough behind enemy lines that relief in a timely manner isn't likely and they still succeed frequently. Because even the Cadians and Krieg need heroes.
I never knew Cadians had purple eyes, I even had a Cadian army once (well I started one, but I sold it as decided I wanted to wait for newer cadian guard sculpts before fully committing. in hindsight I really wish I'd kept my metal stuff though. I had some awesome priest with evicerator and astropath sculpts, including a RT era astropath)

Mounted Cavalry is still useful on terrains ill suited for tanks, like mountains, forests, and urban areas. Also, considering the wildlife of 40k, mounted Cavalry isn't always horses. Sometimes its Thunderwolves.

The Death Korps of Krieg had a lot of love but the new animations pretty much helped give a boost to that love.
All of them are braver than most chapters of Space Marines.

Also, considering the wildlife of 40k, mounted Cavalry isn't always horses. Sometimes its Thunderwolves.
Absolutely, but cavalry charges with lances, thats a little too much..even in a setting where rule of cool makes melee viable.
