Hello Majorkill, Would you please make some lore videos on the Imperial Truth, the Imperial Creed, the Ecclesiarchy, and the High Lords of Terra? Pretty please? Thank you.
It is believed through the litanies that the only way you can ever instill dread into a Kreigsman is to tell that 'The Emperor is dissapointed in them'.
Or a space marine being mad them. Like when Kriegsmen used artillery on a civilian habitation-block that just so happen to have Salamander astartes within it.
I think there was maybe one time they felt fear, though i'm not sure it was fear, they fought a space marine legion who worshiped nurgle and that legion would use a corrosive gas to exterminate all life, their tactics were basically to flood the battlefield with t while they were unaffected and shoot anyone while pushing the gas forward. The kriegsman fighting them broke and fled one full trench-line.

They're still human, no matter how indoctrinated they are. During the Siege of Vraks the 158th Siege Regiment were suffering such massive casualties and witnessing the horrors of chaos that they routed. Commissars tried to stop the route, but the Kriegers killed the Commissars. It caused congestion in the trenches as the second wave was stunted getting out of their trenches by the first wave trying to get back into their trenches. After that the officers were all executed by commissars and soldiers put into penal units.
Honestly I think the reason everyone loves the Death Korp is because their world's history and the fact these guys are on tier with CADIANS in terms of skill. Sure, a Cadian would probably rock a Krieger, but a Krieger will never stop until they are dead. And the fact they need Commissars. Not to instill moral but to stop them from over extending. Probably the second most dangerous for a Commissar just barely behind Catachan.
I first heard of them back in 2009 but didnt gave a damn. Havent heard of them since then until ive rediscovered them this year again (Mainly due to WW1 aestetic and Trench Warfare stuff). They are so embodiment of WW1 that their soldiers are literally 17 years old kids who sent to die on the battlefield to wage "war to end all wars". Great stuff.
All Quiet on the Western Front would be a terrible example, that book is anti-war. A better option would be Storm of Steel from the same period which isn't
The book Krieg by Steve Lyons has a fantastic piece where they throw themselves onto Ork tanks with grenades and anti-tank mines, destroying several of them. It's literally what Orks would do vs Guard tanks.
Yeah Imagine your a cadian and you get saved by a kriegsmen who just 1v1ed a tyranid but is mortally wounded. You remove their mask only to find a child looking back at you. 1.1k likes? By the Throne, a lot a guardsmen on leave here.
I think it’s kind of cool that the kriegsman actually care about fellow guardsmen, and want them to survive, it makes sense too, they probably see them as the ideal followers of the emperor, those who volunteered to fight for him, not to repent, but because of loyalty, they probably really respect that
Artillery on other guardsmen regiments fighting in the frontlines: Sir, the location is slightly near your location, are you sure about the bombardment? guardsmen: it's dangerous but yeah... Artillery on Krieg's regiment: Sir, that's your exact location. Krieg: Perfect!
Artillery on Krieg's regiment: Sir, that's your exact location. perfect, we have them pinned with our bayonets. now fire away until we can use the craters as trenches.
@adenosine2electricboogaloo647 SPOILERS!!!!!!! After the bombs fell and Krieg was destroyed. The colonel what's his name cracked. He wanted to punish the imperium that had failed him and after conquering the planet again, getting the cloning vats and nuclear weapons programs running. Went on a blood crusade slaughtering billions on dozens of worlds. Until a counter crusade and the "Everything Down to the Bacteria has to Die" Death Guard kicked them to the curb and exterminatused Krieg. But the colonel had impressed Khorne so much the blood god teleported the bunker he was hiding in at the end into a space hulk for thier new base of operations. And now the death korps of krieg serve him. Allied with the Black Templars who have to begrudgingly show them some form of respect. Khorne's vision of humanity made manifest and lashed to the grinding wheel of war tearing down everything leaving only weapons behind. Unironically I prefer this version
Fun fact: The inquisition noticed that the dictators of krieg were amassing recourses. Jurten coincidetal defeated a traitor regiment with suspiciosly low casualties. Following that he got foltered for multiple weeks by the inquisition and after it turned out he'd been loyal afterall , he went to krieg to request some recources as well as recruitment and then the dictators annouced their indenpendence which turned out to be a bit of a grave mistake.
Because they're technically clones. Most of the Kriegers were Artificially born using Colonel Jurten's DNA, the very first commanding officer of the loyalist kriegsmen
They are much closer to stormtroopers Clones cared about their wounded Stormtroopers would use their wounded as granades Clones walked slowly at the enemy's and didnt use trenches Stormtroopers would only RUN cover is a last resort and a crap tone of trench warfare Jedi were horrible leaders Imperial officers were good and they didnt care about the soldiers at all
"it's theorized that most of the death korps charges failed do to the size of there ball waing them down" seem pretty accurate and very possible ngl lol
This is one reason I love Guardsmen on the Tabletop, you can bring all these different regiments to the field one way or another and almost not suffer for it, unlike if you wanna bring knights or sisters of battle with your space marines, but guardsmen actually can benefit from bringing a Knight at least in replacement of a tank unit. also in Darktide the fact that the devs made skins that allow you to make your Veteran resemble either Cadian, Steel Legion, Kriegsman or even Catachan Jungle Fighter including the appropriate weapons and suddenly your cosplaying at 100 fps lol
@@someimperialfist1404 I haven't gotten a hold of the new 10th Ed rule book yet for em, but back in 8th when I first started collecting, Knights and Sisters could take a regiment, although they would suffer the loss of their benefits of being in a solid based army, had something to do with the fact they were part of the same "faction" that being Imperium, I know Inquisitors could take leader roles and what not, Knights could take heavy or super heavy slots, and sisters could bring a squad in replacement, oh course you lose cohesion on your Guard if you did this, less benefits but you also brought more fire power or healthier units
The novel Krieg confirms they are all clones of Jurten which is the real reason they don't take off their masks. The mechanicus dude assigned to them figures this out and decides it's best kept quiet. But hey - no chaos taint so as long as you don't see two without their masks in the same room you'll never figure it out. Theoretically the universe wants to kill them for being clones but they do it so fast on their own it never gets the chance.
I"ve heard they are clones but not all of one person. that would make little sense. Cloning by itself is a heretical thing but being able to make *ALL* of these clones from 1-2 people's genetic template seems like it'd get corrupted eventually.
my favorite death korps story was when a regular imperial guard commissar got assigned to the death korps, and then was promptly shot for cowardice after ordering them to fall back
Getting a video about how each of the pre heresy primarchs would have reacted to being in Guillimans situation of the first to return would be cool ngl. Seeing a 'loyal' but still broken angron, and a zealous lorgar running their own imperium would be amazing.
@@planetbob6703 Empathy actually has almost nothing to do with how nice you are. What matters is if you value human life for its own sake or not. A person can be incredibly empathic and just use that to cynically manipulate people. Most cereal abusers are actually really empathic. The part about their age is probably one of my favorite parts because you have all these regiments that would be trying to take a plan it back or win a war that's been going on for years or decades and no luck but then the krieg show up and no one has any idea that the one regiment that just defeated trader world a chaos world xeno world or even a warband of chaos Marines or a fleet of tyranids was actually just an army of 16 year old normal humans that wanted nothing more than the emperor's forgiveness
The DKoK is awesome. If you want a good book, hunt down Dead Men Walking. It's warhammer's answer to the question of 'what if Romeo and Juliet gets interrupted by Necrons'?
I think a space marine chapter made with recruits from Krieg would be actually fucking terrifying to face on the field. Death Korps alone is a whole ass "oh shit" moment.
To add to the Orpheus War we have an actual with model Krieger character named Karis Venner who has survived an unprecedented 11 years in the Death Korp. Mad lad was last seen leading a charge against a Monolith. I hope that Napoleonic Krieger model can be a stand in for Leontus and in the future maybe we get a Commisar stand in for THE Commissar aka Yarrick.
There's also the whole "will regularly suicide charge into enemy lines while still actively shelling said lines because it kills more enemies regardless of how many die to friendly fire" thing lol
I like to imagine that they still have something resembling of a life back on Krieg. A life not worth living isn't much of a sacrifice. And so deep in the bowels of underground factories little kids, that haven't yet started their combat training, and adults, that were deemed unfit to join the Guard, live and work, producing never ending stream of material to supply their regiments. And in the meantime they still find some glimpses of happiness. Through all the hardships of their existence, they laugh and cry, make friends and even find love. Until it is time they are finally drafted, or die in freak accidents, or simply drop of exhaustion. Because for their badassery and sacrifices to really mean something, they still have to be fundamentally human under those masks. That's what separates the Guard from brainwashed mutants in Spehss Marinade in my opinion. They're not enhanced, augmented or in any other way different from regular people like us. They are just ordinary humans routinely performing extraordinary feats of bravery and loyalty in a universe filled with unimaginable horrors
The Krieg have always been my favorite Guard regiment in Warhammer. Seeing the animation of them to the song Attack of the Dead Men was pure gold. And now this video. It definitely did them justice. Thanks for the amazing video, Majorkill.

I think a moment i like is when the Death korps was fighting alongside the salamanders. After an incident of friendly fire the commander of the salamanders went after the command of the death korps and onlookers said that it was the first time to ever seen fear in the eyes of a krigsmen
Fun fact: since Kriegsmen know no fear; any Commisar assigned to them who issue a retreat order, is promptly executed for cowardice and betrayal (iirc)

Nah. WWI is aesthetic.
@@jffry890 Well yeah that too
I first heard of them back in 2009 but didnt gave a damn.
Kriegsmen outperform Cadians quite a bit, and have a tendency to save Cadians at the expense of their own men on multiple planets.
@@Maowka im pretty sure they had a tendency to do that for most non heretics/traitors

All quiet on the Western Front. But yeah, I for sure agree.
All Quiet on the Western Front would be a terrible example, that book is anti-war. A better option would be Storm of Steel from the same period which isn't
All Quiet wouldnt work in 40k cuz that would be admitting that xenos or heretics have souls that are worth something
all silent on the Kriegien front
The book Krieg by Steve Lyons has a fantastic piece where they throw themselves onto Ork tanks with grenades and anti-tank mines, destroying several of them. It's literally what Orks would do vs Guard tanks.
Also literally what some japanese did (as units, not individuals) in ww2.

I think the reason why I love the Death Korps so much is because they remind me the most of republic clone troopers.
Because they're technically clones. Most of the Kriegers were Artificially born using Colonel Jurten's DNA, the very first commanding officer of the loyalist kriegsmen
They are much closer to stormtroopers
Clones cared about their wounded
Stormtroopers would use their wounded as granades
Clones walked slowly at the enemy's and didnt use trenches
Stormtroopers would only RUN cover is a last resort and a crap tone of trench warfare
Jedi were horrible leaders
Imperial officers were good and they didnt care about the soldiers at all
@@dessirangelova2676 you couldnt be more wrong homie

Didnt know about this!
What novel is this?
@@CLangley-yl1fb"Krieg" by Steve Lyons
I"ve heard they are clones but not all of one person. that would make little sense. Cloning by itself is a heretical thing but being able to make *ALL* of these clones from 1-2 people's genetic template seems like it'd get corrupted eventually.

Maybe two entries for Angron. One with and one without the butchers nails. Empath Angron would probably be nicer than Vulkan
@@planetbob6703 Empathy actually has almost nothing to do with how nice you are. What matters is if you value human life for its own sake or not.

I think a space marine chapter made with recruits from Krieg would be actually fucking terrifying to face on the field. Death Korps alone is a whole ass "oh shit" moment.

Krieg Gaurdsmen: (Confused gasmask noises)
To add to the Orpheus War we have an actual with model Krieger character named Karis Venner who has survived an unprecedented 11 years in the Death Korp. Mad lad was last seen leading a charge against a Monolith.
I hope that Napoleonic Krieger model can be a stand in for Leontus and in the future maybe we get a Commisar stand in for THE Commissar aka Yarrick.
There's also the whole "will regularly suicide charge into enemy lines while still actively shelling said lines because it kills more enemies regardless of how many die to friendly fire" thing lol
The fan story series "Love and Krieg" is a thing of beauty. If you are a Krieg fan its worth a read for sure.

Pretty sure they were xenophobic during the Great Crusade. The culture of "distrust of the other" was already pretty engrained just not taught as religious dogma.
