their was a book where a Khorne Demon was summoned into a Demon Engine while Orks were invading a Mechanicus planet. The demon ignored it's mission to fight the Orks for a few interesting reasons. Ork power doesn't come from the Warp which annoys it, they worship their own gods and don't even consider Chaos which made it angry, and finally their Waagh Energy creates an annoying buzzing in his head. Orks are literally demon magnets and not in the typical psyker kind of way. Meanwhile the Orks saw a giant robot dragon and said "I'm gonna smash that into the dirt!"

@@Broomer52 actually I'm pretty sure that orks DO draw power from the warp, but unlike most other species they do it directly. They don't need a patron god to give it to them, they just siphon it directly from the warp and don't give any worship to the 4 chaos gods. I think it's because the krorks were designed to siphon energy from the immaterium at a time when there were no gods in it.

You got one thing wrong: Orks are somewhat aware of human hierarchy, but not in the way we think.
They do think that humies are all the same size so it's problematic, but they have noticed that they sometime use regalia to know who is in charge; more medals or bigger hat = boss.
They also noticed while watching commissars that it is traditional for humans to shoot their allies until they agree to their boss decisions, which they can understand.

Reminds me of a conversation a couple of Orks have in Da Big Dakka when they're invading Commorragh _(it's a long story)._ The Warboss of the whole shebang touches base with his most trusted Painboy _(which says a lot in Ork society, honestly - the Dok literally stitched his head onto a bigger and stronger body when he got mortally wounded although there was every impression that said boss' rival was going to take over the WAAAGH! they were on because he thought his patient would bring them to better fights)_ and the latter got a look at the Drukhari's Maximum Fun dungeons and said that the people running the show here seriously needed their heads examined.
Let me condense that a wee bit. An ORK thought that the people they were invading were utterly insane. Although from context I admit it was more due to said Ork being weirded out by the Deldar being so into the concept of hurting someone who can't hurt them back.

I remember reading a 40k lore summary/interpretation/speculation once (years and years and years ago) that said something to the effect that Orks are so pure - as an entire race - that they are completely immune to the corrupting influence of the warp. Essentially, there is nothing Chaos can corrupt as they are of such a singular purpose as to nearly be the perfect species. The author further posited that they were created long, long ago as a sort of neutralizing or balancing agent throughout the universe; hence, their near-infallible adaptability to any environment, technology, or situation.
I have no idea if any of that is still accurate with the modern lore revamps, but that's kind of beautiful in a cosmic kind of way when you think about it.

To be fair to Orky intelligence, orks are extremely numerous but have an incredibly high mortality rate. The overwhelming majority of orks you encounter are going to be only a few months to a few years old. If you put a baby's brain into an adult man's body, you see how well they perform. It's not just that orks' brains grow as they get older, but they are also acquiring more experience and tricks. Arguably more of their genetic memory is unlocked too.

Not only would you choose who you go after but you would also pick your clan (bad moons- +15% teef renewal rate, evil suns - 15% faster movement) but also your profession. 10:00 I actually remember from a battle report in White Dwarf where the Black Templars, on the hunt for Ghazghkull, got the wrong intel and attacked the base of Andy Chambers' ork army instead. It's WD258 and I have it next to me. What's relevant here is the narrative introduction before the battle.
I'll try to only keep the important bits, so I apologize if it's a bit longwinded, but a quick summary of the situation is that there are two boyz, Gaszbak and Blatrog, in a communications tower at a fighta bommer airfield when Gaszbak gets worried that the equipment is broken.
*"Oi! Blatrog! Wake up and get over here! Dis one's givin' out dots all over da place!"*
*His hugely muscled companion shifted his considerable bulk, the seat screeching under the strain as he swivelled to face the flickering displays. He ambled over to the instrument covered desks, one long claw picking the remains from his latest meal from between his teeth. For a second he stared at the flickering dots as they crawled across the glowing face of the main dial. Gaszbak looked up nervously at the brute's thoughtful scowl, points of light traversing the jagged landscape of his face.*
*Suddenly, Blatrog smashed the ball of his bony fist into the side of the machine bank with such force that Gaszbak nearly fell out of his chair. Leaning forward, the larger ork scrutinised the dial for a long moment before turning to face Gaszbak. The readings were still there, and the old ork's face was split into a hideous grin.*
*"Gaszbak, it's working alright. We're under attack! Sound da alarms!"*
Of course, ork warbands differ so greatly from each other that (even when they're from the same klan) each separate warband might as well be its own unique culture with its own unique customs and rules, so there aren't many things that are true for all of them, but at least in this case, it's not that orks don't have alarms, but rather that to them it's a good thing.

Alright, ‘ere we go. Gather ‘round, boyz, ‘cause ol’ Gorksmasha’s got somethin’ big ta tell ya. Dis ‘ere’s a tale ‘bout da meanin’ o’ life an’ why all dem humie societies always end up krumpin’ themselves. Listen good, ‘cause dis ‘ere’s da real truth, da Orky truth.
See, da meanin’ o’ life, it ain’t about dem fancy words an’ thinkin’ too much. It’s simple, like a good choppa. Life’s about fightin’, winnin’, an’ gettin’ more dakka. We Orks got it right. We know life’s a big ol’ scrap, an’ da strongest comes out on top. Dat’s what Gork an’ Mork teach us, innit? Fight hard, fight smart, an’ keep fightin’ till ya can’t fight no more. Dat’s da Orky way.
But den ya got all dem humies, Eldar, an’ other weedy gits. Dey all think too much, always askin’ questions, always pokin’ at stuff wot shouldn’t be poked at. Dey wanna know everythin’, like “What’s out dere in da stars?” or “Why do we exist?” or “What’s da point o’ all dis?” Pah! What’s da point? Da point’s in da end of me choppa, dat’s what!
Humies, dey got dis thing called curiosity. It’s like a squig wot keeps bitin’ at dere brains, makin’ ‘em wanna find out more an’ more. But da more dey find out, da more dey realize how much dey don’t know. It drives ‘em mad, makes ‘em do all sorts o’ stupid fings. Like makin’ big machines dey can’t control, or muckin’ about with stuff dat’s best left alone, like warp magic an’ all dat.
Take da humies, fer example. Dey got all dere big cities an’ tech, tinkin’ dey’re so clever. But da more dey build, da more problems dey make. Dey keep pushin’ an’ pushin’, wantin’ more power, more knowledge. An’ den, wham! Somethin’ goes wrong. Dere machines go bonkers, dere cities fall apart, an’ dere whole society goes up in smoke. Seen it happen a million times. It’s like dey can’t help it. Dey’re too curious fer dere own good.
An’ don’t get me started on da Eldar. Dey thought dey were so clever, too. Dey wanted to know all da secrets o’ da universe. But dere curiosity led ‘em straight to Slaanesh, an’ look wot happened to dem. Now dey’re a dyin’ race, clingin’ to dere craftworlds, always runnin’ from da past dey created. All because dey couldn’t leave well enough alone.
An’ why’s dat happen, ya might ask? It’s ‘cause all dese gits are ignorant. Dey don’t know da real truth, da Orky truth. Dey fink dey can control everythin’, dat dey can understand everythin’. But da universe is too big, too wild. It’s like a big squiggly beast wot can’t be tamed. Dey try to cage it, but it always breaks free, an’ when it does, it’s a right proper mess.
See, we Orks, we don’t fall fer dat trap. We know da universe is mad an’ wild, an’ we love it fer dat. We don’t try to change it, we just live in it, fight in it, an’ enjoy da ride. We’re curious, sure, but in a different way. We wanna know how to make a bigger boom, how to build a faster trukk, how to smash our enemies better. Dat’s good curiosity. Dat’s useful curiosity.
But dese humies an’ Eldar, dey’re always lookin’ fer somethin’ deeper, somethin’ more meanin’ful. Dey don’t realize dere ain’t nothin’ more meanin’ful than a good scrap. Dey’re ignorant of da simple truths. Dey think too much, and in da end, it’s dat thinkin’ wot kills ‘em.
Every society, every empire, every big civilization, dey all fall in da end. It’s da way of fings. Dey get too big fer dere boots, too curious, an’ too ignorant. Dey can’t handle da truth dat life’s just a big fight, an’ in da end, it’s da strongest, da smartest, an’ da most cunning wot survive.
So, boyz, remember dis: don’t be like dem humies an’ Eldar. Don’t get caught up in all dat thinkin’ an’ questionin’. Keep fightin’, keep winnin’, an’ enjoy da ride. Dat’s da meanin’ o’ life. Dat’s da Orky way. An’ as long as we remember dat, we’ll keep goin’, no matter wot.

Also unlike Fishbois and Humies they aren't afraid to get stuck in and get choppy! And of course, you used a picture of a Striking Scorpion (or possibly a SS themed Autarch) to represent them. Scorpions are the MOST orky of all Squishies. First off, they're green, which is the best colour. Also, they are dead choppy, like REALLY choppy. In fact, they are so choppy that even their DAKKA is choppy! And lest we forget they even have dakka ON THEIR FACE! That they use while they get choppy! And if anyone can appreciate that then it'd definitely be an Ork!

They were never intended to develop much of a "culture" or anything, and they werent just used against one type of enemy I suspect. It wouldn't do if your bioweapon decided to up and leave its target because of subliminal programming that made it prefer another target. Instead they just like to fight...... anything. Literally anything.
The old ones would probably be shocked that either orks or eldar are still alive all these millions of years later. Their creations outlived them by a fuckin lot.

    • @Toxichobbit.
      @Toxichobbit. 2 месяца назад +13

It could be and I like the idea, but I doubt it. Everything about the way the Aeldari behave is due to their society, which is post War in Heaven. They hit and run because they are a dying race. They're scared of death because of Slannesh. They are focussed and joyless when fighting as a way to control their psyche and prevent a second Fall. These are all things that the Orks dislike and all of them are the result of the Fall, which was a long time after the War in Heaven. The only thing that (probably) stayed the same is their technology.
It's also worth considering that the Orks were almost a different species back them. Information is difficult to find, but from what I've read they were superior to modern Orks in every way, and modern Orks can get intelligent enough to understand concepts such as negotiating, alliances and fighting alongside allies without killing them. In older lore, Blood Axes and Freebootaz regularly worked as mercenaries for more pragmatic Imperial commanders. I don't know the validity of that anymore given GW have reduced the subtlety of the lore and made everything more black and white. But the point is that Orks are capable, even now in their devolved state, of allying with other races and not turning on them in the heat of battle. So I'd imagine back when they were Krork with all the superior intelligence, technology and tactics that entails, they wouldn't have needed an inbuilt genetic IFF.

They probably dislike fighting Raven Guard, or White Scars too. Any faction with hit and run/covert operations doesnt quiet scratch the itch the orkz have for combat. White Scars would be tons of fun for the speed obsessed clanz but probably irritating for the majority of orkz. They dont mind the use of kommandos and such a little bit, but to build an entire combat doctrine around that kind of stuff is not very orky and thus unpleasant for orkz.
