One thing you need to note is that the wired version comes with the actual gamedac gen 2. While the wireless version just comes with just the base station. Which doesn’t have the gamedac gen 2 ESS Sabre Quad-DAC chip in it.

most likely it's because he's using Bluetooth instead of the wireless 2.4ghz dongle, there is a huge difference in bandwidth between Bluetooth and the 2.4 ghz wireless, if your gaming on pc, your most likely going to be using the dongle so this review is quite misleading overall.

I just bought the wired version and I have zero complaints. The sound is fantastic. I used the custom EQ to adjust the bass like I want it, and I hear every instrument being played. The drums sound great, the bass pops, the highs are crisp. I think they are a great value for the price. As far as the parts made of plastic, I don't mind as it keeps the headset light. I play on PC and I do not see these parts being a problem being made of plastic as you are only using them to set on your head, not dig a ditch with them. Handle them respectfully and don't throw them off your head because you are upset and they should last. I have an ex-large skull when it comes to helmets and hats, they fit very comfortable on my head with no squeezing, or ears touching the inside of the cup. When playing different games, I was amazed at how explosions sound. These headphones made a huge difference in sound effects while keeping the voices and music sounding great. It really added a wonderful difference to my gaming experience I didn't have before. I usually spend around $150.00 for my headphones. The extra I paid for these was well worth it. I love they way music sounds when I am listening my favorite songs. I am a guitar player, so I am picky when it comes to EQ balance. I want to hear every instrument. I am very happy with these head phones and recommend them.

It's surprising to me how barely anyone is talking about the mic sound quality between the two. I personally own the arctic 3's and they were amazing for the price. It was comfortable, the mic was great, and pretty good sound. The mic quality to me is very important and listening to the wired vs wireless, the wired is crazy better than the wireless. this and the supposedly better sound quality is what got me to buy the wired headset. I also don't care too much about it being wireless as I prefer better audio and mic quality overall. ANC and transparency mode aren't deal breakers as well since my apartment is fairly quiet. Hopefully, sound isolation is good! Great review as well Techne!

The reason the dac is angled like that in the wired version is because more than likely it's going to be on your desk next to you, whereas with the wireless it could be across the room from you. You could have it next to your consoles in an entertainment center while you're gaming on the couch so a straight on viewing angle makes more sense. Probably also why there's no push to mute on the wireless dac.
For me, this boils down more to use case than sound quality and features. You know if you really need a wireless headset or not. Like if you game mostly on PC, I don't think you really need a wireless headset, but it would be great in a living room console gaming environment.

However one thing stopping me from buying it today is a Audeze Penrose comparison review by yourself... Watch this space...

Awesome video as always. I'm a huge SS fan so I went ahead and ordered both to replace the previous versions. I'm breaking in the wired version now. The wired version sounds amazing and I'm blown away by the weight. The wireless version is still sitting in the box. I'm thinking I jumped the gun. I use the wired version version for PC and the wireless version for PlayStation. The problem is I also own the Penrose.... What got me interested in the wireless is the ANC. However, Techne review and a few others make it sound like the ANC feature needs some refinements. I always wanted a wireless gaming headset with Sony/Bose level of ANC. I know the leather cups provide good isolation. I've never used the old AirWeave. I use the SS replacement leather cups on all my SS headsets. Anyway, big decision to make when it comes to the wireless version.

I sure love the arctis pro with dac and wireless version and already ordered the nova pro wireless for xbox (still waiting for it to arrive) to just have a single headset for everything instead of changing headsets for every system I use and also to avoid downtime having to charge them with the short cables I have. What interests me would be a comparison between the arctis pro wired with dac and the nova pro wired, to see if there's any substantial upgrade in terms of sound and features, or just keep the arctis pro wired and instead going for a dedicated dac and headphones in the future for wired connections. I mostly play on consoles and move around the house, so wireless with a single device for everything sure comes in handy but definitely using headphones and audio interface on pc is on another level and must say I'm pretty happy with what I have but might consider upgrading in the future and this sure looks interesting. Gonna watch all your comparison vids as usual anyways lol.

for console do you get the same sound benefits with the wired as you do pc? If not then it seems like wireless is the best option. Did you have any issues with the inner ear tab poking your ears with the wireless? I just emailed wicked cushions about making a slightly thicker gel cushion for the nova wireless so that we don't have heat issues from the fake leather pads, but also to minimize issues SOME people are having with the center tab poking their ears. My guess is the headset is a little too tight on their head so it's pressing that plastic into their ears.

I’ve watched most of your videos on these headsets and I’m still so indecisive. I would 100% utilize the Bluetooth and probably will be using anc/noise canceling here and there depending on the situation. I won’t say that I’m an audiophile but u kinda made it sound that it’s worth skipping over the Bluetooth feature just for the audio quality. Does the wireless version not have the rumble the wired version have that you described or is it just that the rumble is less. I know you said you don’t like messing around with the software so when you were testing out the headsets did tweaking with the eq and other stuff bring it closer to the wired version or still no contest. There’s so much more I wanna say but right now I’m steering towards the wireless one. Thanks for all these videos. I just wish it was an easier choice.

I got myself the WIRELESS can't even image how much better teh wired would sound as this is already very very balanced clear detailed refined sound! as an audiophile i hear the limit of wireless but I don't care, it's really good, no distortion, no static, very good for music too (on pc u really need the sonar equalizer set to your preferences which is kinda stinker). I'm so fed up with wires being in my way (more than 3 m from my ps4 and tv!) and I wanted good sound so obvious choice for me. about ANC: i jsut realized how good it is when I wnet outside and the trains were so much "muted" and the busy road was almost gone away! in your room it gives that "tranquillity" by muting the outside traffic noises and the zooming of ventilation and stuff, you still hear high end ticks like typing or people's voices or noises while browsing papers. but traffic and other background noises were (almost)gone which made me feel al lot more zen..

Thank you very much for your review. It helped me to make a decision and buy the Nova Pro Wireless.
I would like to add my experience with the Nova Pro Wireless.
Well, it is a gaming device, but I wanted a headphone which also is good for listening to music. I think, when music sounds good, a game also sounds good.
I bought mine Nova Pro Wireless about 2 hours ago and I am currently listening to Ted Nugent`s Stranglehold and wow: That rocks.
Before I heard School Days from Stanley Clarke and the baseline of that song is presented just sharp, present and so powerful. WOW.
I switched from the Artics 9 wireless, which I had for 4 days this week, coming from a 30 Dollars headphone, which I used for years, now I spent 375 Euros in Germany, but it needed to be. The Arctis 9 Wireless was not so bad but I wanted more punch, more power, more clarity, just a better headphone. And I felt in love with wireless. And I knew that I had to accept some flaws compared to a wired headphone.
What I strongly recommend besides all those great rewies - this included - if possible test not only whether the headphone fits to your head, test the sound, listen to your favourite music in the shop if possible. Wait some days, do not buy without testing and listening for yourself.
I did not follow my advice, I wanted a new headphone and I wanted it now. :)
If I had given me more time and would have looked for opportunities to listen to headphones I am interested in I think that I would have bought another headphone, and mybe I would have spent more money.
Neverthelesse the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless delivers a really sharp and powerfull sound, IF the source has the appropriate quality. !!!!!!!!!
To my taste it lacks a little of capabilities in the mid and higher range.
On the other hand, I still know HOW Stanley Clarke and Ted Nugent sound when delivered through a three channel bass reflex box and I doubt that even a Audeze Penrose can cope with that.
Last but not least technically the headphone and the wireless base station work well together and are easily adjustable and controlable.
Compared to the Arctis 9 wireless, which is 200 Euros cheaper, I like the Nova Pro Wireless better: It sounds better, has more power, the design is better, functionality is good and control buttons are placed in an ergonomical way.
Hope I could give some useful information.

To me the noise cancellation works pretty well for my situation. I always have an ac running in the computer room and it pretty much cuts it all the way out. With it turned off I can definitely hear the fans from the ac. Mic quality is just ok. Not the best but will work. The nub in the ear cups doesnt bother me any. Doesnt even touch. I will replace the ear pads once they are available. Overall Im happy with my purchase. I dont really think you can go wrong with either one. Main thing for me was getting rid of the cable.
