    Difference between gaming headset and headphone companies
    1)
    •) gaming headset companies try to improve ther features,looks and software
    •) headphone companies on the other hand try to improve there sound quality and comfort only
    2)
    •) gaming headset companies on there website usually advertise the features , battery life , comfort and other useful gimmicks like virtual "7.1"

    I recently changed from my Arctis 5's which i've been using for a few years to the Phillips Fidelio X2 and V-Moda mic, the jump in audio quality is massive, the open backed nature of the X2's presents a fantastic soundstage, the V-Moda mic is like nothing i've tried so far, the combo destroys the Steelseries in every way. As for your reasoning as to why you prefer gaming headsets clearly isn't based on audio quality but as you said its easier to buy from the shelf, i'd say take a little bit more care and you'll be rewarded, I couldn't ever go back to a gaming headset ever again.

    The biggest thing you will notice going to an audiophile setup is the musical qualities and natural tones they will bring to the table. Things just sound "better". I have been switching back and forth for years and other than the really high end gaming headsets ($200++) you will not get anywhere near the musical qualities of a $150 audiophile headset. They are not crazy hard to drive but do benefit from an amp both in terms of volume level and sound quality.
    Another thing is the long term durability of audiophile headsets, they are simply on another level and may last you years. There are people using their original HD 600's for over 20 years with minor parts replacements. Gaming headsets typically break on me in under 1.5 years usually due to the wire getting loose in the left earcup.
    Where gaming headsets win, besides price and simplicity, is IN GAME sound. You see pros use HyperX series headphones in FPS shooters for a reason. They just work. Mids and highs are a bit boosted and you can really get a sense of footsteps and audio cues. They are TUNED for this. It is almost the opposite of what makes music sound good. So choose wisely, or get both.

      @I M They are both good in their own rights. Sound is very subjective. For example, when Techne talks about Beyerdynamic having 'screechy 'highs, I don't get that at all from them. You'll just have to weigh it up for yourself. Do you want wireless freedom or better for more than just gaming. Both sound great imo. Also you have to factor in an amp for the Beyers unless you get the 80 or 32 ohm version. Even the 80ohm likes an amp to an extent.

Check his different fostex reviews, they are easy to mod with different earpads etc. The impedence is like 50, but they are power-hungry, not for mobile use. The g6 drives them good and I love them both for music and gaming. Started listening to music on tidal and it opened a new world of enjoying music. I really recommend getting the fostex t50rp, zmf lambskin earpads (or other earpads because the regular sucks) and a vmoda boom mic. To bad the mic on the g6 doesn’t work with Xbox, so when I chat in a party I can’t use the fostex because the controller won’t run them good enough. But I play a lot of bf1, destiny2 and csgo on pc and I can never go back to the ath1.

    Headphones also come in wireless. I don't know how you missed this blatant fact. Also, the best headphones are more expensive than the best headset, so it's inaccurate to say headphones are cheaper. Words like "warmth" or "fun" are vague and unsuitable to quality sound in a product. I want a product which has a higher quality, more accurate sound; not "warmth" or "fun" as these latter don't really mean anything in terms of positioning a product quality-wise. Finally, open-back design offers the greatest sound quality in headphones/headsets, and this is why the best, most expensive headphones in the world are open-back. closed-casket headphones muffle the sound, resulting in quality/fidelity/accuracy loss. Of course that, if you have a problem with surrounding noise, you have no choice but to go with closed-casket but open-casket is the best quality option and is also a preference for people like me, who don't game in a noisy environment and, who, as such, don't need noise-blocking features and who, also, want don't want to stop listening to what is around them while wearing headphones. Finally and, most importantly, if what you value the most is sound quality, then the clear winner is headphones since the best headset doesn't come near the best headphones in sound quality. At least to me, sound quality is the most important factor.

With regards to the Auido interafces or amps, I think you can buy a 50-80 dollar audio interface and connect your headphones to the computer that way. I know, it's 80 extra dollars but it gives you the phantom power needed to make it sound even more beautiful like you said on the video. I think it's not too bad as long as you don't mind spending about 1 hour following some youtube guides LOL. I have my m50x connected to a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 for music and gaming. It's great. I disagree with a lot of the stuff he says here when I got the dt990 (the only reason I got them was that the Hd 600 were too expensive) they were the best thing since sliced bread. Yea the high end is higher than usual but it is well represented and does not get rid of the base (very balanced). and open backs were a way better experience because of the sound stage, you can hear things that you would never hear with gaming headsets in games and music. but one of the best things bout it is the fit, studio headphones are built to be worn for hours at a time and built to breathe and be lightweight and they do it right lots of them just float on top of your head with little listening fatigue

    I feel like gaming headsets are just a gimmick with a bunch of fancy words and claims but audiophile headphones are guilty of that as well.
    Gaming headsets can be good if done right. I have no issues with my Cooler Master MH751s. (Which are rebranded studio headphones called Takstars)
    Audiophile headphones I feel can’t really do much wrong but you loose a lot of the features and peace of mind gaming headsets offer. Plus it gets A LOT more expensive with gear needed to run them. It also depends on what the consumer desires in a headphone.
    I rock a Sennheiser 6XX hooked to a Fiio K5 Pro DAC/AMP and blue snowball on an arm. All of it is around $450which is way more than a gaming headset.

So tomorrow I'll see how the razer kaira's compare, but at this point I'm not even expecting them to stand a chance. I really hope they do though b/c I just like the look of a gaming headset, but if not I'm going to send both back & maybe get a boom mic & turn my m50x's into a gaming headset 🤷🏾‍♂️

    Ive had some from both categories and some gaming headsets are tuned way better for game audio.
    For example the dt770s are good but have basically really recessed mids (upper vocal range). And the m50xs are good for music but have literally 0 soundstage and really boomy mid kick bass.
    The hyperx hadsets offee great value for a cheap price and pretty good audio tuning for games and music. Some have too much of that mid bass tho.

    • @alrizo1115
      @alrizo1115 Год назад

      I haven't tried any audiophile headphones yet but they say dt770s are not that great. They say hd560s, Sundara, and hd600 are some of the best entry point in the hobby. They can be quite expensive though.

    • @Browncoatful
      @Browncoatful 8 месяцев назад

      @@alrizo1115 DT 770s are honestly not that bad for gaming. The DT 880 and even DT 990 are probably a bit better for gaming as far as Beyerdynamics and close to the same price. But as Beyerdyanmics, the DT 900 pro x is the best for gaming and are only 32 ohms so less amp dependent.
      As for Senhiser, HD 560 is a solid one for gaming but some love the HD 600 or 650. Just keep in mind that with many of these you need to have an amp that can power them in order to get the full benefit out of them. Even the DT 900s do much better with an amp despite only being 32 ohms. Gaming headsets meanwhile will have a built-in amp or software to compensate but typically do not sound nearly as good and are very bass-heavy. However, many audiophile headphones can be too neutral for gaming such as the HD 600 so Its a give and take when it comes to headphones v headsets.
      Though personally I feel headphones are more enjoyable, there is an argument for headsets for gaming in terms of budget and convenience. Honestly, hyperx cloud is good option as it is surprisingly well balanced for a gaming headsets and really good battery.

    My personal gaming audio recommendation:
    Over-Ear Studio Headphones with a detachable cable + VMODA Boom Mic connected to a Schiit Fulla 3 Dac/Amp combo. I've used this for many months.
    If you have a XLR or USB mic or simply don't need one go for an open-back design.
    My current setup:
    Rode PodMic + Behringer UMC204HD
    DT990s 600 Ohm + Schiit Magni 3+
    There is no "endgame" but you gotta set boundaries depending on your use case.

You can still get a pair of shp9500 on ebay here in the UK for £65, add a v moda boom Pro at £25, add a pair of brainwavz xl round pads at £15.99 to £19, add a syba sonic dac amp at £45, and you have a setup that out performs arctis pros in sound, comfort and mic quality for £150... I swear by my open-backed Sennheiser Game One for gaming but I understand that not everyone plays in an environment that works well for open cans. Not only do they provide a wide sound stage but they're extremely breathable. I can wear them for hours and my ears barely warm up at all. The microphone is also top notch (for a headset).
    I have some closed headsets I like a lot too though. The HyperX Cloud Alpha is a great wired headset and the RIG 800HD is still my favorite wireless headset because it's insanely lightweight and has a very balanced sound. It's just hard to recommend because it's not really sold anywhere anymore.
