    Ultimate guide indeed! 👏 This is hands down the best audio gear roundup I’ve come across…period. Thank you for not only touching on the best options for gaming, but also pointing out iems and headphones that work well for music too. Immensely helpful for those of us who want a solid all-rounder choice. This guide really helps to filter out all the “noise” on the inter-webs, helping to make my decision much simpler and more straightforward. I gotta say, your channel is my absolute favorite for all things gaming and audio. I can always rely on a non-biased opinion here which is refreshing to say the least. You put a lot of work and passion into your content and it shows. Cheers!

    A neat trick with the G6: Want to give any of your closed back wired headphones or IEMs transparency mode? Get a nice inexpensive 3.5mm camera mic, like the ones BOYA makes, and turn on monitoring in your recording settings and adjust the level. I basically need transparency in my environment, so this has been an amazing feature for me.

    A lot of people ask about maxwells FPS imaging. As someone who owns the turtlebeach stealth pros, sony pulse elite, and maxwells and I play competitive shooters, here's what I said to another poster here:
    The maxwells aren't great for imaging/FPS. They just don't really separate footstep audio all that well. If there is nothing else going on they have good clarity, as soon as you introduce a lot of different sounds they have a hard time separating. In terms of vertical/horizontal imaging they are lackluster. I play games such as Hunt showdown where you can have compounds with very detailed/intricate layouts (3-4 story prison compounds with multiple entrances and different audio for outside at the top inside at the top depending on the level they're on), and the maxwells just really struggle here. I couldn't tell what level they were on or how high or how low compared to me.
    The maxwells are incredible for things such as movies/music/immersive games with great soundtracks (for example Manor Lords which just came out or any single player games or milsim shooters such as hell let loose or Squad 44, etc.).
    The stealth pros and sony pulse elite (made by Audeze along with Sony) just blow the maxwells out of the water for competitive shooters. I really don't understand how Audeze made something so much better for gaming at a $150 dollars cheaper. Had the Sony Pulse Elite come out at the same time I would've easily bought them over the maxwells, they're 50%+ cheaper and just have way better detail retrieval. I can hear things I could never hear when FPS gaming before. The stealth pros are also amazing. You can't go wrong with either one for competitive FPS. I have a hard time deciding between the two when I'm gaming, it's that close. I can hear a bit further out with the stealth pros, but I can hear minor details even slightly better with the Pulse Elite, it's very close though and barely noticeable.
    Maxwells shills will tell you things like "your ears are just not tuned to good headphones, you're used to bad sound". They are not subjectively bad, they are objectively bad at imaging compared to other headphones at both the same price point and cheaper price points. I saw people with $100 hyperx headphones hear footstep details way better than me, that's unacceptable at $350 for headphones that are reviewed for gaming purposes. I don't have an allegiance to headphones, I want whatever gives me the best advantage when playing shooters.
    I really want to like the maxwells, I really do. I've tried everything to EQ them to get them better for FPS, but for whatever reason they just aren't great for them despite a lot of audiophile reviewers saying they're incredible for FPS. Gadgetry is the only one I saw give an honest opinion that they aren't good at imaging. I heard they just dropped a questionable firmware update as well which maxwells users aren't happy with. I'm not sure if they can somehow firmware these in the future to improve them for imaging purposes, but as of right now I just can't in good faith recommend them over the other two. It's at the point where I don't use them at all for competitive gaming because of the other two being far superior and actually giving me a "wallhack" advantage.

I've heard people saying the internal ones sound better. I use mic monitoring and have been getting echo problems as well as generally sounding a bit tinny/metallic. Other than that I'm impressed coming from 700gen2 Maxs

      Cant complain about the Maxwell, after setting up specific EQ Settings i can hear footsteps extremely well and always know the position of enemies in COD or Escape from Tarkov, twice as good as with my previous Headset. The Maxwell sent my MMX 300 2. Gen & Sound Blaster X G6 into retirement, as footsteps werent that well noticeable, even with double EQ Settings. The Maxwell might not have features like Scout-Mode or etc, but imho they are not needed after setting it up correctly. PS: Also... the general sound quality is just toooo good for that price point.

      Agree with this, i have the maxwells but i switched to the astro a50x and i hear footsteps so much better tbh... maxwells are amazing like music / movies and single player games , because they are really clear but for gaming *Fps* i don't think planar drivers are a good idea, not for the imaging friend has hifi man planar and yeah same issue with imaging so he switched back to the ad700x , i also have had a few headsets from using arc mk2 dac with like Audio-Technica AD700X which this combo really good, mine just got old xD and thought might aswell have a change. i have had the nova pro's which where pretty decent, also had the DT 990 PRO but they had a nasty high pitch to certain sounds which was not nice. so far i would say astro a50x personal choice

    I just replaced my HD800S and must give a STRONG warning against it:
    1. the size adjustment is not strong enough. For me whenever I picked it off the headset stand and put it on, its adjustment changed due to a lack of grip on the steps in the metal headband.
    2. Its cable costs 200 € to replace and (for me) the mantling of the short cables that split towards the earpieces just dissolved after 2-3 years - the mantling turned into crumbly yet sticky pieces.
    My previous Sennheiser headset is still like new after 16 years (apart from the ear cushions of course). Then I spent 10x the money for the HD800S and the headphones lasted a third of the time.
    THe sound quality and comfort is superb though.

    FYI as a Hearing Aid Specialist. your local Hearing Aid practices may give you for free or charge (especially if you refer anyone to them for a hearing test) very inexpensively for Ear Mold Impressions. super easy and quick less than 10mins to shoot EMI for ppl. i use to give a local church's band free EMI's for their whole band to get custom molds. do any of the IEM brands you mentioned let you submit EMI's?

    • @miscwork-qb7pd
      @miscwork-qb7pd 7 месяцев назад

      Good sounding custom IEMs are only available with select boutique brands and models, and are very expensive (>1000$). Generally the only people who use them are very experienced audiophiles with tons of gear and money, or music artists and well known producers

    • @mz1929
      @mz1929 7 месяцев назад

      @miscwork-qb7pd it must be a lazy and or time consuming thing tho. Or they don't have their own equipment. All that I know about making custom hearing aids in dozens of different styles, and it's basically 3D printers now a days. It should be really easy and not add any cost for these brands. You can get custom hearing aids for only a few hundred dollar's. With all the tech and mark up bullshit inside it too. The custom shelling isn't even a cost

    • @miscwork-qb7pd
      @miscwork-qb7pd 7 месяцев назад

      @@mz1929 Speaking purely outside of sound technicalities and manufacturing cost, IEMs are designed to last and fit all kinds of ears, kinda like wired headphones. If you don't like the tuning of an expensive set of IEMs, you can sell it second hand. This is almost impossible with custom sets, so you really have to love the tuning beforehand
      Also I believe most hearing aids nowadays are wireless and battery powered, so they're not designed to last 5-10 years (the mic and wireless tech improves massively by then anyway)

    • @mz1929
      @mz1929 7 месяцев назад

      @miscwork-qb7pd kinda irrelevant response I don't understand. The point is IEM's don't all fit the infinte different types of ears. I have never found a non custom made in ear anything that fits me comfortably, I have small ears. From ear plugs, to hearing aid shells, to every gen of samsung ear buds I have tried etc. Some people need/must have custom. And In general will always be better if it's a option. Hence why all professional/celebrities typically have custom made ones

    • @miscwork-qb7pd
      @miscwork-qb7pd 7 месяцев назад

      @@mz1929 It's not useful comparing what celebrities and highly professional people have to what normal people use. The budget is too different
      I agree good custom moulded IEMs would be much better for comfort, which is important. Atm it's just very expensive for IEMs because the demand is very low (so they charge what they want) and most people buying (audiophiles) would prefer a better sound over comfort (look at the headphones market and how many expensive sets are uncomfortable)

    • @tripleS88

      JBL Quantum for dynamic/overall (single player, and music), the Sony Pulse Elite for dedicated first-person shooters (ie specific to multiplayer / FPS use, sacrifice in the open world games / music). Corsair is not in the same league as these two options, no need to consider them. For me, being focused on sound quality I’d go JBL - signature sound and bass is perfect for single player titles and music. But if you play only FPS then Pulse Elite is designed for locating footsteps of players ;)

Like if I have a Nova7x, what would be a comprable IEM? Would you recommend IEM over headset? The main drawback of IMEs seem to be lack of integrated mic. I know mics on headsets generally aren't great in terms of quality, but sometimes its about being "good enough' and just nailing convenience. Potential solutions to this issue with IEMs?

    I have the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro. It's a great headset for gaming, but it has some considerable issues.
    The buttons are too flush to the headset, making them hard to press. The hinges don't lock in place, so I'm constantly having to slightly re-adjust the earcups. And the biggest issue is that the volume wheel is seriously imprecise. On pc, I just max them out, and control volume with my keyboard. I rarely bother to use them with my phone.

    I don't have a lot of experience with almost all of these heasdsets, but I can say that I ordered the Audeze Maxwells and have had nothing but issues with it. The sound quality, when it works, is incredible. But problems pop up so frequently that I couldn't recommend it to anyone. Trying to go through support to get a refund on mine.

      @@MrKarangill1000 Nah, since I bought them from a retailer (Adorama), Audeze wouldn't give me a refund. And I was outside of the return period thru Adorama to that to work. I RMA'd the first set but still had issues: mic issues in work calls via teams would occasionally not turn on, mic & sound issues (couldn't hear anything) in Discord, and occasionally game sound just wouldn't work and I had no idea why. I didn't think it was worth the headache so I just bought a different headset and chalked this up to a learning experience.

      I had the same experience as you friend. I went with the Master and Dynamic MG20 for the similar sound quality. It's a shame because the Maxwell on sound alone is great... way too many issues outside of sound though.

    i'm using my hd600....because BD DT880 Pro didnt last long before cable shield became detached from ear plastic. i plan to one day get that fixed. originally they cost quite a lot but are now less than half of that. with that build quality, no wonder.
    i still battle 3d soundstage problems in games, and specifically in ETLegacy, which is old quake 3 stereo engine. sometimes you can pinpoint sounds, and sometimes the sound is like not having any 3d soundstage at all. trying out the newer openal audio setting, which sounds quite different to wasapi/directsound.

    Got the Hexas last month. Have been loving them. I keep hearing negative things about them recently like how they have no bass at all or that they are overhyped and not worth, which is very odd seeing as people went from literally nothing but love for the 7hz Zero (OG) to pretty much shitting the direct upgrade to it. I mean, sure they don't have bass head level bass and neither does the 7hz Zero.. but the Hexas are still punchy. It gets the job done, they are most definitely worth.
    Glad to see them on the list, makes me feel better about the purchase, not that I needed someone else to make me feel that way, because to me, they sound amazing and especially for Rainbow Six.
    I also just bought the Dunu S&S. Hope they are good, have also been seeing some mixed comments about them. Like some crazy ass excuses to sway me from not getting them despite the majority of people liking them..

    Out of curiosity, would you not consider any of the wireless gaming IEMs a top option here since that category is still new or…..? Wanted know how the likes of the Inzone Buds, Pulse Explores, etc. stacked up against the other wireless options instead of just each other for FPS. I feel like sometimes it’s nice to have less weight on the head or to avoid “headphone hair” when needed 😅

    • @GadgetryTech

      Great question! I only left them out because they have such specific use cases and frankly, not many options exist out there. If you want wireless TWS for gaming, then that kind of leaves you with one of the two Sony options. Almost all others are not worth the hassle to me. They are good in their own way, but for $200, not going to be the best choice per dollar

    Really comprehensive video. Thanks a lot for including pretty highend gear as well. Too often I find these lists of gaming headphones or earphones and they will stop at at $400 USD when I currently use the Sennheiser IE600 IEM's and considering buying the Westone Audio - Mach 70 Universal IEM which cost $2,200 AUD because I love highend audio but also enjoy gaming with my friends. Other reviewers should always bare in mind that there are always going to be gamers who are happy and able to spend a lot of money buying relatively premium gaming and audio gear such as I'm about to order the ROG OLED that was recently released and use quality microphones such as my RODE NT Mini I think it is and want to power my audio with quality amplification. Thanks for also including the amplifiers to drive the headphones of choice in your video though I do wish you included some higher-end options suitable for IEM and USB C mic input. I'm not sure I've seen such a comprehensive video on gaming audio prior to this.

    His advice is spot-on, although my experience with the HD560s and TYGR 300 is slightly different. But that is really due to personal preference. The reason I use the HD560s now as my main is because the tips of my ears touch the inside cover of the driver of my TYGR 300 (I would say I have about average ears, whatever that may mean :0). He actually mentions this in his 'Wicked Cushion Freeze Pads for Beyerdynamic' review. And with the WC Freeze that (almost) sovles it, check his other video on this.
    Yes, the HD560s clamp more, but they definitely loosen over time.

    I am currently using arctis nova 7 (wireless and it by-pass my crap ALC887 as onboard audio), for better sound quality its a overkill to buy soundblaster G6 or FiiO K11 ?. Yes these external audio solutions are 2x the price of these iems, but these products have long lifespan..
    So is the difference in gaming / movies much better or its just overkill and will be better to buy some cheap dac /external sound card ?
