I've been using the wired version, and I'm pretty happy with them. Sound quality is great. The software can be a little annoying though. Sometimes I have to restart the hub for Sonar to detect the mic.
I've had mine since launch and the wireless are my favorite headset I've used so far. Considering the Arena 7 to complete my audio setup. I've been using solely Steelseries headsets for a little over 3 years now and I don't see that changing any time soon.
I honestly love you getting excited about the sound quality and it made me wanna get one (even tho it is 8 months ago now lol) !!! thanks for the review and keep up the good work :D
Bought The Nova Pro thanks to your previous review and now that i have them I agree on everything. Top
Another top video fella my hats off to you... Can't believe ya launched the jaw bone headset... Keep up the great work... Did you say the Sonar software only works on PC been trying for a week or so to get it to work with my Steelseries Arctis 9X and my Xbox no joy...
Thank you Techne your the best reviewer so honest and most of all thorough.
I´d got mine 3 days ago, and it´s fantastic. The only thing that i do not like that much, that the cable from the dac to the headset is pretty short, 1,20meter. For PC-Players not an issue, for consoleplayers maybe often. It was not easy to find an extensioncable, cause it´s 4 pol to 5pol, pretty unusual. But now i got it, and have now 3,20meters. ;) Thanks for the great reviews Techne, really helps me out by making my choice. Keep up the great work. Greetings from germany
Facing the same issue with the length, what type of cable do you recommend?
the real question is, why are you buying a $300 headset and still using console?! lol.
Consoles are for gaming on a budget. They're great for that but.... you don't seem to be on a budget lol. If you like to just sit back, relax, and game with a controller, you just plug a controller in.. You can use your PC almost exactly like a console actually, very easily. It'll just be a console with infinitely more games/things to do, and things they both do - the PC just does everything so much faster smoother and better. Cmon mayne, they have fortnite and warzone on PC too
Please let use know what extension cable you purchased. :)
@@whatNtarnation90 because some of us just like consoles, and the headset is 170 for the wired not 330 for the wireless..
I have the 9x. I am very happy with them. Thinking to get these. I don’t know if it’s worth the switch. I just like the battery switch. Will never have to worry about running out of battery!
Great video. it convinced me to buy this Nova pro but I would have liked to see the difference in sound with The Techne's house EQ, is it still available?
thanks to your videos.. finally settled on these exact headphones to supplement/eventually replace my Razer Nari Ultimate Haptic for Xbox-- perfectly GOOD headphones, sound incredible, BUT, the MIC frequently refuses to connect, you have to try 6-8 or more times, over and over, to get it to work/connect. then it connects every time for 4-5 times in a row. very frustrating.
so wanting an upgrade, that i can hang on to, until i finally say " the hell" with trying to get these Razers to connect.
have to say, the Razers are incredibly comfortable, the mic ( when it works ) is very clear, the haptic is adjustable, the only comfort downside, is the headband is a bit big, even on the snuggiest setting, it sits a tiny bit low on my head, but my ears are still fine. i can wear it for hours..
looking forward to these when they arrive...
Love your videos man! Chainwatching like netflix! Question- Nova pro wired vs sennheiser pc38x ?!
Question: How loud is the sidetone btw. in this headset? I love this feature and it should be reviewed and mentioned in all of the reviews.
I just have one wish for this Steelseries wired headset -> add bluetooth and I am sold on it.
I am currently using Turtle Beach Stealth 700p gen 2:s. This headset is awesome and sidetone (when set to 100) is crystal clear and loud (wife thanks me because I am not shouting too much when gaming with my friends). I have a problem though. I use this for my PC and PS5 and I am really worried that I break the usb ports because I have to switch dongle 1-3 times a day between PS5 and PC. Also I don't want to use multiple headsets just because I game on PC and PS5. I have bought usb extenders aswell but changing the dongle is inconvenient.
This steelseries headset would solve the problem above because you can connect it to both devices at once. I do not necessarily need the headset to be wireless but I need a solution like this. I use 4K 144hz monitor for my gaming at all times.
Been using the wireless version. My only complaint is the ANC speaker in the middle of the cup that sometimes rubs against my ear depending on how I'm positioned and how the headset is positioned. For example if I'm sitting up on my chair, I have no issues, once I lean back the speaker tends to start hitting my ear. Other than that, my ears do get hot after long use. I'm waiting to see if Wicked Cushions release a compatible cooling cushion for this headset. Overall I'm happy I got this, one of the best headsets I've ever used. If you have the cash get it.
Yeah they are amazing, i am using them since two days. Do you notice a small static sound even with everything is off like sidetone?
I've ever had the magnetic covers fall of when normally using them. But when I go to switch batter, I do notice how finicky it is to get it back on. They could be a little stronger with the magnets.
I pulled the trigger on the wireless nova pros love them!!! I don’t feel no nob honestly better then my astros where
Hi thanks for the awesome review I bought these because of you. I ordered wicked cushions as you recomended. But how to do you replace them?
You convinced me i just ordered a pair! Would live to see your EQ settings for them though 😊 keep up the great job
Mine are holding up great going from PS5 to PC is seamless while also having my phone connected to Bluetooth for incoming calls is nice at first they were stiff then they broke in a little with the ear cups and the head band now they feel nice and snug but supportive no pressure points.
Does mix chat function work on PS5
I still own the wired Arctis Pro+Gamedac in white with RGB and to me they sound great and quite loud too...in my opinion the older version which I have look better and sleeker than this new version, plus I like that light on the mic which turns any color you want and red when muted.
4:10 I have had 2 sets of Arctis Pros break at those hinges. I'm really sad to see they didn't change the design of those at all...
I bought this headset from last week after watching Techne's previous reviews on it and I'm absolutely in love. Just purchased my Wicked cushions as well cause he wasn't kidding about the ears getting a little spicy. Thanks for the in depth reviews Techne!!
Which cushions did you get?
@@tyhank453 WC Freeze Hybrid Fabric Cooling Gel in black thru Amazon. I thought about getting one of the color options they had but I'm a simple man.
@@xTroubleShooter on their website it shows they only fit the wired headset. That sucks. I’ve got the wireless ones, but love having wireless.
@@tyhank453 I looked into it pretty heavily (mainly through Techne’s videos) and decided not go wireless with the Steelseries. I’ve got wired Nova Pros for my PC and wireless Astro A50’s for the consoles. Have you seen somewhere that says Wicked cushions completely won’t fit? They look same design to me but with the noise cancelling in ear.
No matter what earpads I look at, they all say “ do not work/fit with any Nova headsets ".
Is that true?
It's because of you I bought the Arctis Pro wired version , and once the Arctis novo pro Released I ordered one and it's fantastic. I'm happy with them. You reviews with the headsets is amazing.
If you can do a AMP/DAC video reviewing the Schiit Hel 2 it will be awesome and using Novo pro wired headset to compare the the same headset with deferent AMPs.
Been looking for a new headset since my trusty 11 year old Sennheiser PC 363D have passed away. :( Thanks for the review i might have to give these a try.
Nice vid! Do you recommend the nova pro 7 or the nova pro? Both wired... thx!
Do the wireless version become as good as the wired one when you plug it in with 3.5?
What are the ps5 settings for this headset, should it be in a 2 Chanel, 5.1 or 7.1 ?
back at here again :D first video to look for once i find the new headphone from steelseries
I got the wired ps5 version, fit is great and sound great when they connect. You'd think being wired, connecting would be seemless. Nope !!! They worked 2-3 days, now you need to unlpug it over and over on power up just get it to connect. I wire the usb 1 to the ps5 and usb 2 to my pc. Wired like that it does connect when powered up. This can't be normal?
Question… if I get the wired ones and use them on console (ps5) if I put them on pc play about with the eq, does this then save for when I play on console ?
I bought the wireless version like, a day after they came out, and I LOVE them. Lucky for, my ears must be shaped in a way where I don't feel the ANC nub in the earpad. Also, despite the full pleather ear pads, my ears never get TOO hot. Definitely noticeable, but never unbearable or uncomfortable. Without a doubt my FAVORITE thing about them is the swappable battery. Why more companies aren't doing this with their headsets, I'll never understand. Such a small but amazing feature. Definitely my favorite headset that I've ever owned (which I'd hope so since it's the most expensive. Lol)
@@Laurens005 you wont regret it
Yeah they are amazing, i am using them since two days. Do you notice a small static sound even with everything is off like sidetone?
i have the wired A40s with mixamp for xbox series X and series S. Should i upgrade for the next Call of Duty?
I have a question. I have the wireless version and when I am talking in discord my friends always tell me that the mic cuts out or it sounds really staticky. It never happens for a long period of time. It randomly happens then it will be just fine and happen again. I thought I had a defective one at first so I returned it and got a new one. The same issue. Have tried different things and it is still happening. Is it happening to you?
@@adrianalvarez0909 that does not happen to me. Not even once
Ok so I get the concept of you not doing the software for reviews and appreciate that. But I would like to know if you do have a video with this headset where you at least have the mic set up in the software. If you look on Steel Series website, they talk about how their mic is recognised as best blah blah blah, but obviously that tin noise is horrific. So I just want to know can the mic sound good then after doing the set up as I only use it on PC.
I am looking at getting this or the Corsair Virtuoso XT, though I think I might like the aluminium hinges more on Corsair, but the mic alone is currently the main deciding factor as I do need a good mic.
Question before i buy, i play keyboard and mouse on series X, Does the headset need to be plugged into a control? ALSO I don't have a pc, do i need to use the software on pc to make it work? Or can u just run it. I didn't quite get what you were saying at the end
Hey Techne, can you help me in something? Do you've the same sound on the wireless, while using wired, compared with the arctis nova wired version?
The Wickedcushions site says they are not compatible with any Steelseries Artics Nova how are you using them? wich ones you bought?
What is you Favorite Headset with best Microphone.. I currently uses the SteelSeries Arctis 7 and Microphone is good not great.
I would LOVE to have you create EQ settings for these for consoles (I use a PS5) for open world games like Elden Ring and RDR2 - can't find them anywhere!
Hey! Can you use the sonar software on the pc with the Xbox version still? Great videos on this headset!
Can u please review the new Lucid Sound LS 100x? Honestly for $100 it’s crazy value and there’s like no reviews for it cuz they’re new 😊
Can you set the wheel to game chat volume without having to go into the settings by pressing it and scrolling? I’d like to quickly adjust chat volume
How the heck did you get the wicked cushions on these? The defaults earcups are like glued into the bracket needed to hold on the earcups on
I would like to get a couple of them earpads but, No matter what earpads I look at, they all say “ do not work/fit with any Nova headsets ".
Is that true?
Is it normal for the wireless one to not be completely quiet when no sound is playing? Mine has a low static like sound when it's not playing anything
I have them been using them for months. No complaints. Had hyper x orbits s or something.
@Text me on telegram The Techne is this real ?
which one is better for gaming? Wired or wireless?
Do you have a link for the wicked cushions?
Can you use these with an external mic and still hear yourself in the headphones? I'm using a blue yeti mic
Is this headset good for console gaming and not just for pc gaming sometimes when i switch from both there is audio differences and I'm really thinking about getting these Nova Pros for PS5 and PC use an answer by anyone would be much appreciated thanks.
How can I connect wireless Arctis Nova Pro to DAC with 3.5 mm cable and make microphone sounds better? I tried but microphone stops working at all
Hi there! Do you know if i can have the high-res audio quality on a wireless model using the 3.5mm plug?
It says that the wicked cushions don’t fit the arctis nova pros? I was looking at buying some but kinda concerned they won’t fit.
Is it possible to use the nova 7p with the arctis pro mixer? I mean, getting the full 360 sound on PlayStation, etc.
Just as I’m watching this, the new Nova 7 headsets have dropped and I’ll picking those up instead to replace my Arctis 7’s from 2019.
Would you still recommend these today? I'm in the market to replace my turtle beach stealth 700g2 Xbox version.... Never going turtle beach again! The audio is okay but the build quality and Bluetooth connectivity to phones is shoddy...
Do you think it would still work if I used a usb hub and had pc in one port with xbox and switch sharing the second usb on the controller unit?
Pls help me , I have the Arctis Pro wired without DAC and I connected it through USB to my PS5 both front and back but it does not work , no audio coming from the headset but the lights on the headphones work .
I’m confused.. on steel series website it says the Arctis nova pro wired has noise cancellation. So what’s this talk about wireless having it and wired not? 🤔
I NEED HELP. The microphone is too quiet, I have everything on max even in the control panel and it’s still very quiet. Anybody have a fix for it ?
Can this be paired up with a blue yeti mic? I'll look it up but Ive watched 3 of your videos and I'm going with these over the astro a40s
Everything is cool, but what if you play in the living room. So you gotta take off docking station out of your pc and to connect it to the console in order to play. Also the controlling will be limited because you won’t stand up from your sofa in order to play with the docking station which is in 2-3 meters from you. Bluetooth is not loseless, so you have to take the docking station with you. 😬
Should I get these or Penrose X for console gaming?
Excelentes saludos desde México 👌🎧👋🎮💥👏👏
Can you use 2 devices at once and get the audio from both at the same timw?
Hello! I have a question and was wondering if you could help me, ive owned and used these exact headphones for about a year now and i seem to get really intense aching/swelling in my outer ear, the cartilage right before the entrance to the canal, but only on the left ear. It happens after an hour or so, the suction feels super intense. I love the headphones otherwise and i don’t wanna get rid of them
Anyone else experience this? If so, how do I fix this or find a solution? It’s driving me insane and ruins my experience
Had the wireless and sent them back because of that stupid nub and got the wired.
The wired are definitely better in the sound department compared to the wireless and the earpads feel much softer
One feature I missed from the wireless was as you mentioned the Bluetooth connectivity.
Well... I made my own solution and it works a treat.
Using the aux in I hooked up a fiio BTR5 Bluetooth mini DAC. Then I set the fiio DAC to car mode and have it plugged into the ps5 via USB.
So every time I turn on the ps5 it automatically turns on on the Bluetooth DAC and connects to my phone. And when I turn the ps5 off it shuts off the Bluetooth DAC 👍
So now I have Bluetooth compatability on the wired version 🤠🤠
But I agree having a Bluetooth option built into the DAC would be a stellar upgrade.
Also one thing I'm a bit upset about and it's a silly thing but why did they take away the red light on the mic when it's muted? The old wired ones had the red LED but these dont 😞
Always liked that feature just so you have a quick visual if the mic is muted.
Great review again as always Tho 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Is the sound difference between wired and wireless big on the ps5. I'm not sure which version I should buy. If the difference is not big I would buy the wireless one otherwise the wired. I would be really happy if you could help me.
@@elicitus5724 intended up using the wired ones for my pc and bought the arctis nova 7s. They are so comfortable with the sports weave cushions and sound great on ps5. Honestly can't tell the difference between the wired and these (not for games anyway)
Plus I like the benefit of having Bluetooth with them.
The nova pro wireless in comparison were a bit overkill really
@@herraz2084 so is there a difference in sound between the nova pro wired and nova 7 coz if there isnt a big difference i would go to the nova 7 with bluetooth capability
@@crispy_toast07 hey.
Well in the end I sold the nova 7 with the DAC and bought the nova 7 wireless.
They are much cheaper than the nova pro and don’t have the DAC but as a PS5 user I wasn’t getting the benefit from the DAC anyway.
They are wireless/comfy and have Bluetooth.
Thaey have been brilliant and are the perfect headset for my needs (they also sound great to)
If your wanting Bluetooth function I would highly recommend them over the PRO. Paying over double just to have Bluetooth and a few extra gimmicks aren’t really worth it

Hello. I bought the xbox version of this headset. I want to ask, I have a desktop computer and a playstation 5. How do I switch between these two devices? more precisely, will I have a handicap by buying this xbox version instead of the ps5/pc version of this headset? I'm asking for help from anyone who knows. @The Techne
Do you like these more than the Virtuoso Se?
Wicked Cushions said that they are making cushions for the wireless version but they said it won't come anytime soon.
LETS GO!! Get our wallets for the extravaganza next week!
I tried to use the link for the ear pads. It says wired only. Do they work for wireless
Which Wicked Cushions did you use?? Wicked Cushions said they're making custom Nova ear pads but they're not available yet..
Yeah its taking a long time I bought a 3D printed adapter piece off etsy and now I can use any ear cushion that's compatible with the original arctis pro.
U can use these with Sonar on console now. Definitely further improved my xbox experience a couple of notches.
I was literally looking at your nova review yesterday then you post this how do you know 🤨
some review say they will feel the ANC plugs inside the ears after a while and it will hurt after abit. anything you have notice?
I have a question.
I have the shure mv7 microphone.
On the DAC I can connect the shure mv7?
I want stream on xbox series x.
Thank you so muche for the answers
I purchased the Wicked Cushions for my Nova wired. YES, the cushions are baggy! I'd wait until they have the custom cushions available. Im not happy with the baggy look since I invested almost $300 at this point! Wicked does have good support and said i could get a refund. Im not sure if the Wicked are really an improvement, I need more time with them.
How did you put the wicked cushions on? My default earpads are like heat welded into the bracket that clicks into the headset to hold the cups on
@@youreright7534 there are videos showing how to slip on WC. It’s easy BTW. I’d wait until XMAS, when new fitted WC will come out. Current version isn’t bad but theres a baggy seam between the cushion and headphone. Note: I have the wired Nova’s. The cushion come off with a gentle pull.
@@HelveticaBold1 They don't just slip on though like they do for nearly every other headset. Did you rip the old cushions off of the plastic mounting ring that snaps onto the headphones? That's the only way I could see it working but I don't want to break the ring or rip my default cushions
I have wireless versio and ANC is really good.
Overall pretty Good headset. second day i have the headset. The astro a10 was imo more comfort but maybe it is to soon. The Thing i think really sucks is that the partychat mixer is only pc. so for 380 euro’s that is bit of disappointed thing. I use them on ps5.
Hey
Just a quick question. Are you having an issue that every time you turn on the ps5 the Steelseries mic is really quiet and you have to unplug and replug the the DAC in to get the volume you originally set?

YESSSS!!!
Hey Techne where can I find your EQ!?
Do the wicked cushions affect the sound quality?
Yes, but you can tinker with the EQ to mitigate that. There’s videos out that tell you the best settings for the cushions
Do the wireless versions actually mute on xbox because the wired dont
Do top 2022 keyboards
I’m using the wired version on PS5 and I can’t get rid of the background noise on the mic. Someone help me
Which headset would you prefer, the arctis wired Nova pro or the new arctis nova 7x+?
I hear they are the same drivers and such, but minus the dock and noise canceling. This is what some other guy said in a message so idk. I got the 7x and hope they are good, I have razer black sharks so I'm guessing il be happy with the upgrade. Lol.
Ok , I just bought this for the PC. I do not understand why the audio is not that loud. I checked my computer, all the sound is at maximum level. I checked everywhere. I tried making adjustments with the software fine tuning, the DAC, etc all of that. Am I doing something wrong? even playing a music CD, I like big band stuff, great singers from the 50s and 40s :) but just not loud enough. With the other RGB Steelseries , I think it was 7? there are so many of these, I dont know, but they also had the DAC, and were VERY GOOD and LOUD. But NOT these. what am I DOING WRONG? any ideas? thanks
Go to sonar software put gain all the way up. That should fix it.
To be clear, are the old Arctis cushion fits to the new Arctic Nova earcups?
No but you can easily find a 3D printed adapter on etsy or ebay that will allow you to use any arctis pro ear cushion.
The Techne thanks for review.
Can youn tell your opinion about DTS and Dolby usage in competitive and regular gaming with headphones?
How are the hinges now? Would like to hear from anyone who's been actively using them since release. Kinda concerned about buying these knowing the quality issues...
There are quality issues with the Nova pro as well as the Arctis pros that I've found:
Arctis pros-
Microphone mute does not truly work
After a while one of the earcups will snap off of the headset and be held on by a wire
The wire from headset to gameDAC will eventually frey at the headset connection point due to movement, especially if you have a reclining chair and enjoy laying back
After a while if you play with loud sound you'll begin to hear sound distortion such as static noise.
For me, the software completely broke the gameDAC/headset functionality, I had to do a complete uninstall.
Nova pros-
Microphone mute does not truly work (same design flaw as on Arctis pros)
Unlike the Arctis pros, you need the software to have these work well.
When turning Sonar off (the part of the software that handles your headset stuff like EQ, gain, surround sound, chatmix etc) it's fine, when turning Sonar back on again only 1 audio channel will work unless you then completely close the software and then reopen it.
Some other differences between Nova and Arctis pros (you might be familiar with Arctis pros, not sure)
- The controls for headset volume and microphone mute are further out on the Nova pro, this might mean time adjusting initially for Arctis pro users but the relocation is good because it will prevent accidental adjustments.
- The wheel buttons such as the gameDAC volume wheel and the headset volume wheel on the headset are much smoother and with no ridges, this does allow for finer adjustment but at the cost of less grip.
- The design for the earcups for me didn't fail on the Arctis Pro until about 2 years in just a little past the warranty expiring, on this one it has the same design for the earcups to allow them to rotate sideways which is good for adjustment and comfort but in my experience has been really bad for durability. This same earcup attachment seems to be done on the Nova pros as well. The flaw with this on the Arctis pros is that the plastic of the earcup surrounding the area where it's attached to the headband bracket was not durable and too thin, which resulted in the metal rod chipping away at that area over time, and eventually enough plastic was chipped away and the earcup was held by a single wire. I don't know if this same flaw exists in the Nova pros yet, I'm not sure what material the Nova pros are made from nor how thick the earcup is but it does feel somewhat similar to Arctis pros.
- On the Arctis pros when retracting the microphone it sticks out slightly from the headset which might be annoying, on the Nova pros you can retract it all the way in so that it becomes a part of the headset (this is without considering the included foam screen).
- Nova pros came with a small travel bag to keep it safe
- Apart from ability to switch between devices, no RGB on the Nova pros and the need for software for the chatmix and other headset features to work, there's little difference in terms of the gameDACs apart from physical design where the new gameDAC has more of a dramatic slant, the back button is a touch screen instead of traditional press, and there has been more thought put into the location of wired connections to try to prevent wires from wear.
- The ear cups are much more comfortable on the Nova pro.
- Differences in how you adjust the headset size, on the Arctis pro you have to adjust the velcro headband, however on the Nova pros you can move the headband up and down on notches as well as individually adjust the height of each headset cup.
As for similarities;
- The microphone quality of the Nova pros is pretty similar if not exactly the same to the Arctis pros, my friends could not tell a difference.
- The audio quality of the Nova pros is pretty similar if not a little better than the Arctis pros, the big game changer for the Nova pros is the much wider ability of different audio adjustments that the Arctis pro didn't have such as ability to adjust spatial audio, smart volume, sound profiles, smart voice, and so on.
- The foam screen for the microphone is pretty standard on both, just a difference in size as the Nova pro mic is less wide.
You can pretty much just take the exact same settings from your Arctis pro and move them over to the Nova pro (RGB aside). However the downside to this is that you have to turn Sonar off, which you lose the ability to have chatmix. The software and Nova pro settings similar to fresh Arctis pros are kind of tedious to get the sound you want, but they come with a lot of preset profiles if you just want to load one up and go.
Hope this answers some things for you.
@@gyrthez246 Brilliant, thanks mate.

This is the issue I faced after 4 years of use, so not too bad of a lifespan, but still a design flaw in my opinion which should be corrected and looks like they have not seriously assessed it.
@@Rasedan I faced this issue shortly after the 2 year warranty period expired, that was after having to send my first set back because of a major fault.
I've only had the Nova pros for 2 days, giving this company a second chance as these two headsets are my only experiences with Steelseries, but if it goes wrong I might jump to Razer having tried some of their lower priced headsets in store and quite shocked at the quality and plug that into the steelseries v1 gameDAC.
I'm hoping I'll have these for a while longer, at least 4-5 years considering the price tag, though there is only a 1 year warranty on these.
TechNe. I use my original Arctis Pro Wired with gameDAC. And I love all my steelseries headsets. I'm a big fan. Picked up the new Nova pros wired with gameDAC. I got the PS version. So I can connect my PS5 and my PS4 simultaneously.
So I want to say this. Oh my God!!!!
The old ones sound unbelievable. The Nova's are out of this world and leaps and bounds over other comparable headsets.
I caught wind. That steelseries came out and said. That the sonar software. Will eventually down the road. Be compatible with console gaming. I'm not taking this with a grain of salt. Because I actually read this in a replicable source. So let's keep our fingers crossed. Nice video 👍
Last impression for VZR Model one please 😬
