@The Techne I’m curious, with your set, volume around 70 to 60 percent, anc and transparency set to off, do u notice high frequency feedback in the right ear cup? It has to be connected but no sound coming out, like home screen on Xbox where it’s connected but it’s dead quiet. I notice in that situation I’m getting this feedback on the right cup. I returned my unit(Xbox version) they only had ps version in stock so I just grabbed it, and it does the same thing (granted not as bad). Check it out because if I got 2 bad units in a row I’m not sure how I’d feel about trying a third time or maybe it’s just something they do?

The price is a huge gut punch for those hoping for a life changing experience though. I'm one of the only 3 people left playing Halo Infinite on console. My astro a50s got to a point where they wouldnt hold a charge for more than an hour. I ordered new astros and the 5ghz band on my router kept interfering and crashing the connection on the new a50s. After astro decided not to help, I sent them back and settled with some Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max. After a week of use, the bluetooth would not stay connected. I thought what the heck, I might as well shill out $350 bucks to try these new SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pros. Holy shizzzz!!! The size, weight, comfort, connectivity, and SOUND QUALITY is on a completely different level than Astros and Turtle Beach. Back in 2019, I had the SteelSeries Arctis Pros for about a week before trading them in for Astros because I wasn't impressed. I don't know what SteelSeries did, but these are on a completely different level. I've heard the Audeze and Bangs have the best sound, but after using these for the last few weeks, I don't even care to try anything else.

There are several other honest reviews out there that love it more than Techne seems to have. It’s preference in the end for a lot of things and what exactly you need your headset to do. There’s lots of headsets without metal hinges that are still great, and I watched a very detailed review that said the hinges are improved. They’re my first SS headset, and the hinges are different from pics and vids of previous SS sets.

No metal hinges = No buy from me. Great review. I didn't take this as negative, in fact - SteelSeries if you ever read this, this is as positive a review as I could view. He asked if we actually "need" active noice cancelling. I do. Transparency, mode. I do. Bluetooth, swappable batteries - I NEED that, although he questioned it, I do. What I don't need is plastic hinges especially when hinges were a MAJOR issue with your last headsets. Happy to join the army whenever you all resolve that!!

I’ve used many headsets and have been a long term user of the previous Arctis Pro Wireless and I love that headset. I’ve also trained my ears well over the few years to hear sounds on each frequency.
I’ve been so looking forward to this new Nova Pro Wireless, but I wanted to make sure it’s worth it before I buy one.
Luckily my friend bought one, so I used his for a whole day, mainly playing Warzone and here’s my verdict compared to the old Pro Wireless and these are based on my hearing.
-Old Pro Wireless is quite a bit louder, so if you like your stuff really loud, old one is better. Plus louder the headset gets, louder you hear each frequency.
-With old Pro Wireless playing Warzone I can comfortably hear footsteps from around 32-34 metres away and gets louder of course closer the enemy gets, but it was around the same with the new Nova, but maybe couple of metres closer to start with from around 30-32 metres. Not a big deal, but the next point will make it a big deal.
-Because the Pro Wireless get really loud, it lets you hear those specific frequencies louder and better.
-Nova Pro Wireless might not be as loud as the Pro Wireless, but because it now has a 10 band EQ compared to the 5 band on the Pro Wireless, if you spend some time you can really extract detailed sound from each frequency and overall the sound quality/clarity is better on the Nova. However, to my hearing it’s not a night and day difference. It took me a while to make a really good custom EQ for Warzone and when compared to the old Pro Wireless, apart from overall sound quality, it made no difference at all.
-The Techne is correct about the ANC mics on the drivers touching ears, but it really didn’t bother me as the Nova is overall really comfortable and I think more comfortable than the Pro Wireless.
-Transparency mode simply makes the headset sound and feel like you’re using an open back headset and to my ears that ruined the detailed directional audio or imaging.
-Mic quality is pretty good and better than the old Pro Wireless, but unless you’re actually using the mic for recording, I don’t really care as long as it sounds good enough to communicate.
My final verdict is, if you care about all the ANC, transparency mode and/or specifically play on PC, then the Nova is worth it. On PC you can really take advantage of the Sonor software. But if you’re a console player and don’t really care about the ANC and transparency mode, then if you don’t already have the old Pro Wireless, I would say go get one of those as the prices will drop soon and you’ll be more than happy, because it’s still if not the best, one of the best. You can find lots of used like new ones on EBay and Amazon.
I really think £330 is quite a big asking price for a headset that’s not much different to the old one. I think most of the changes were made on design of the headset and added ANC and transparency mode and that’s it. The most important part of a headset should be sound and if that’s not that much of an improvement over the old one, then that’s a big asking price.

Thanks for this info. I got 2 pair of Arctis Pro wireless and I'll m waiting for Audeze to make the Penrose mkII with better 2.4ghz connectivity and a good Virtual surround.
If Audeze does not deliver I might get the Nova pro wired version as the wireless nova looks to me to be a downgrade.

    • @famezy9103
      @famezy9103 2 года назад

@@Justmeandmy20cents Audeze Penrose I think really stands out when it comes to audio, because they use the planar magnetic drivers and all the rest use traditional dynamic drivers. But I’ve also tried the Penrose. Above I mentioned about footstep distance. With the Penrose I still heard footsteps from around 32-34 metres away but it was quite pronounced compared to Pro Wireless, but that’s where the good points stop with the Penrose in my opinion. I said above priority is sound, but at least a headset should have decent comfort and battery and Penrose doesn’t.
I believe the main problem is, headset companies are limited to how much they can do with current dynamic driver technology, so until a new technology is developed, all new headsets can only advance so much. That includes Audeze as well with the planar magnetic drivers. There’s only so much they can advance with those drivers until a new generation of planar magnetic drivers are developed. So for this very reason, I think SteelSeries took a step back with the Nova.
I’ve never been a fan of leatherette ear pads, but I recently purchased the official SteelSeries leather pads for my Pro Wireless and I realised all these years I was missing on improving the sound. It made a big difference and made my own custom EQ sound even better and louder.

    • @luker3970
      @luker3970 2 года назад

I have not used the arctis pro but I do have the audeze penrose. I think sound quality is about even with the eq dialed in. The penrose gets louder, but not by a ton. So when you say the arctis pro gets louder, I have a feeling you need to plug them in side by side and test again or check settings.. Anyway, I also find the positional audio on the nova fantastic compared to the penrose. To me, the penrose sucks at locating directional queues. Idk, great music headset though.

I actually came into this review specifically hoping you'd touch on the sound quality of the wireless version when it is wired to the station, compared to the wireless-only version. Was bummed when you decided that wasn't a relevant feature to test. I personally would love to have a headset that has all the fidelity of a wired headset when I don't mind being tethered, but with the freedom of a wireless headset when I want to be able to move around more.
If you give it a test at some point, I'd be curious to know how they compare. The questions I'm wondering about below:
    1. How noticeable is the difference when wireless version is wired to the base station. (Compared to wireless version operating over 2.4GHz)
    2. Does it sound the same as the wired version sounds when connected directly to PC (not the DAC).
    3. How does the wireless version (when wired) compare to the wired version connected directly to the DAC. Is it a noticeable/noteworthy different in quality/clarity due to the DAC?
    4. (Big bonus points) Make a Frankenstein monster and connect the wireless headset, via wire, to the DAC. Is the resulting sound of the same quality as the wired version (when connected to DAC)? In theory, they're the same drivers, so you'd think it would be.

Probably below the Audeze. I’ve had it but returned them to get the Virtuosos which have been my daily set for the last 6 months or so. Just picked up the Nova Pros and I’m very happy with them. I feel like the soundstage is bigger in the Novas but it’s not a day and night difference. The XTs get louder in my opinion when wired. The Audeze’s drivers are unmatched but the little nuances that are an annoyance really made me not want to spend the $300 of them. That’s the reason I felt the XTs were better value. Don’t think these are worth $350 tbh though

What would be good is to compare the deluxe, full featured wireless models. Corsair Virtuoso XT, Turtle Beach 700 g2 MAX, Steel Series Nova Pro. Is there anything else that does Xbox, PS, PC, bluetooth (and 3.5mm)? These are beasts of wireless headsets, with full platform compatibility. They are expensive as hell and pack a punch. Techne, I encourage you to line them up (and any other headset that can match the features) and see which actually is the quality and feature king. In this range you really aren't too worried about price. It's sound quality, mic quality, comfort and any super unique features (extra ear pads, swap able batteries) above working with everything.

Some person asks about the Arctis Pro Wireless Version
(Because i've heard, you can use that Xbox version everywhere, but with what cost?) :
"So this version has 2 ports, 1 for pc 1 for xbox. The pc port will work fine with a pc i presume (full functionality), but what does "not all the features" mean if you were to connect a ps5 to the xbox port? Would i miss anything on PC side? Will i loose anything on a ps5/switch side?"
    Some person answered:
"I'll try to be clearer. There are two USB-C ports on both versions. The PC/PS5 version (the expensive one for some reason) has two identical ports which are both fully compatible with PC, PS5, switch, etc. On the X version for XBOX instead, one of the 2 USB-C ports is fully compatible with XBOX only, the other instead has full compatibility with PC/PS5/switch. This means that: 1. The XBOX dedicated port cannot be used for PS5 at all, 2. this port will work on PC but you will miss out certain Sonar software features. Which features in particular I do not know, but apparently in the software the headset will appear as disconnected, not a good sign. Therefore, if you have both a PC and a PS5 the XBOX version will have complete functionality only if you manually swap the cable on the back and use the NON-XBOX USB port for both your devices. Basically to connect both PC and PS5 you want the other model."
    Edit:
Just wanted to make a quick post explaining the differences between the Versions:
Nova Pro / Pro Wireless for PC/PlayStation
Works on PC, PlayStation, Mac, Switch.
GameDAC has two USB-C ports on the back for Multi-System connections. Both ports support the same devices.
Nova Pro / Pro Wireless for Xbox
Works on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Mac, Switch
GameDAC has two USB-C ports on the back for Multi-System connections. Only one port supports Xbox connection and the other only supports PC/PS/Mac/Switch.
Otherwise, anything not mentioned is the same between devices. Both headsets use the same mic, speaker drivers, and other physical features. Both wireless versions have ANC and Bluetooth. All versions also have access to Sonar/Engine on PC.
What does this mean for you? If you plan on using the Multi-System connection feature on the headset, you'll need to pick the version that works best for you. For example, if you have a PlayStation and a PC and want to switch between the two on the GameDAC, you'll need to pick the PS5 version.
    Also found online:
    vor 9 Months:
"The Xbox port kinda works on PC. The PC will recognize it as an Xbox audio device. This will likely cause audio issues, and alongside that Sonar/Engine won't know it's an SteelSeries device so those features won't work either."

Doing this will reduce the clamping force of the headset so the pads float completely on your ears instead of squeezing down on them by using the tight strap a a pivot. in most cases this stop your ears touching numb.

I am using these on PC and while using the Sonar noise cancellation for chat I found that it was causing my voice to cut in and out and also my friends voices would cut out. Now this was while playing Destiny 2 using the in game chat so it could just be the game. But something to keep in mind.
