Better than Toyota Camry? Honda Accord hybrid 2024 review: New e:HEV RS tested
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 12 июн 2024
- The 2024 Honda Accord mid-size sedan isn't going anywhere, with the 11th-generation model having just arrived in Australia, where it faces stiff competition from the uber-popular Toyota Camry, South Korea's Hyundai Sonata and Europe's Skoda Superb, while the similarly packaged Lexus ES lurks in the premium segment above.
Much like the Camry, the Accord is going hybrid-only with its new generation, with a 2.0-litre petrol four-cylinder engine combining with two electric motors and an electronic continuously variable automatic transmission (e-CVT) as part of its 'self-charging' powertrain.
But, of course, there's more to the latest Accord than what's under its bonnet. So, in this expert review, CarsGuide Managing Editor Tim Nicholson gets behind the wheel of its one and only variant, the e:HEV RS, to see if it has what it takes to put a dint in the Camry's sales dominance.

In Australia from cars to properly everything is priced like its beverly hills hollywood, and everyone is millionaire. People are struggling to put food on table and here accord is priced at 64
I live in the US and just bought a 2024 Honda Accord ExL hybrid. The sticker on the vehicle was $34,540. But, the accord you reviewed has a panoramic sunroof and a few tech upgrades that the top touring model doesn’t have. Those upgrades aren’t even offered here in the states. But 64k for a Honda accord is quite steep.
It is AUD so US would be about US$43,325. Luckily the U.S. has 6 trims while AU only 1 trim which is RS Hybrid.
U.S. also a lot cheaper for the Touring Hybrid $38,890.
Neighbouring country Indonesia selling at US$ 60,352 for the same spec RS Hybrid.
I guess you are the lucky one also you have the 10th gen 2.0T and having coupes for the previous gens! Love the 9th gen coupe!!
65K AUS is about 44K US
@@skytech168 - And not for sale over here in Belgium. We only have the SUV's and Civic.
My guess is they have to upscale it since there isn’t an equivalent Acura model there.
Hondas are better then Toyotas in pretty much every way but the price difference is a bit too much
Yet you can’t point out the better ways.
Weird.
@@thomasjohn6041 they arent gonna bring out a whole essay 💀
great review…
65k all but top of the range Camry is about 55k this will fail in Aus especially as no entry grade is offered
Also no spare
A new fourth-generation hybrid powertrain will motivate the upper portion of the lineup. It's much the same as the hybrid system we first fell for in the 2024 Honda CR-V, with a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors.
Looks amazing! Wish they were more affordable
So Tim..how would you rate this against the Citroen C5 X PHEV which is due out in the next few weeks and which I'm holding out for. I'm after the most cossetting ride under 80k.
If only the Accord didn't look so damn boring.
Sadly very few will buy a citreon
@@daweigo6851 Its cool to have something different though ..sick of all the hard riding boxes.
I'm already looking forward to Accord's facelift.
Love this
$65k is insane. You can buy a brand new Mazda6/Camry for almost half the price! You can buy an i30 sedan hybrid for 35K (it's not that much smaller than the Accord dimention-wise). Honda needs to wake up! Their new cars look great but the prices are not competitive at all.
True, but when someone is a fan and been owning every gen of Accord since the 6th gen also feeling good as hardly to see an Accord on the road especially with the same model and even close to impossible to see with the same colour.
@@skytech168 Yeah, my aunt is a huge honda fan and is looking at the new civic. She's going to wait until they are a few years old so she can get a used one for cheaper.
That is why there sales in Australia have crashed over thr last few years
@@lukepasqualotto4827 True and also for me, for the same budget, I rather to get the top-spec previous gen than a base-spec newer gen.
@@lukepasqualotto4827 but if the company is on the verge of collapse your aunty won't have good warranty, support, service and parts I'm Australia in a few years time?
Honda Accord looks like a streamlined fastback than sedan wish it's a coupe; 2.0 with e:HEV must go best with E10 unleaded cheap and clean than boring regular unleaded.
No spare - deal breaker - of course honda sales say that - what else could they say? BS in australia not to mention whether the goo works and what it does to your tyre so you need a new tyre most of the time even for a small puncture because of the goo. The Honda customer that supposedly prefers the repair kit probably doesn’t know a lot about what happens after you get a puncture.
Also the repair kit needs to be replaced after a puncture apparently
You can add a spare tire if you’d like. There is room for a spare tire and jack. I think the dealerships should have an option for the customer which one they want. I’m going to be purchasing a spare tire and jack for mine soon.
@@jlaforteon1 have you ordered yet? Must be exciting!!
Why don’t US do this to our Honda’s I have the touring trim and I miss features like interior lighting and such wow just looking at the ausie version it’s way better than US
Honda is the best in the game
Yeah, especially with the 1.5 engine issues. 🤣
That badge is on the verge of collapse here in Australia so why would anyone buy a Honda anymore?
No pano roof here in the states 😢
You have Acura. If your Honda Accord has pano roof, Acura would be able to fly. Otherwise, it can damage the brand and people won’t buy the Acura.
@@skytech168no Acura in AU?
@@Vegitobluuuuu nope. It used to be rebadge Acura TSX to Honda Accord Euro until 2013 Honda Legend until 2012, Honda MDX until 2006,Honda Integra DC5 until 2007 and 2nd gen NSX.
@@skytech168 that’s why your accord looks way better than ours here in US
@@Vegitobluuuuu still you are the winner!
You have manual until the 9th gen and manual has discontinued since the 5th gen.
You have coupe and coupe never been offered in AU.
You have more trims, current U.S. model is 6 trims while we only have 1 trim.
You have more fan base so the population is much higher and easy to find accessories especially China also LHD so for the interior accessories are much more variety.
Even, Chinese market is offered Integra and we don’t get it.
Especially, you have Acura Type S! Curious question, why you don’t get an Acura?
The rear and the c pillars is 15 years behind.. will pay no more than 40k max
Good luck Honda, will be lucky to sell 10 cars at that price.
Me gusts honds Accord para mi hijo jose
For 64,990 I’m buying a Model Y or Model 3.
The Accord & Civic interiors both look very bland/generic. Same with Accord exterior, Civic looks a little better.
I agree ..but there made in USA for a specific market, we should get Acura rather than this.
@@planestrainsdogsncars4336 For all Australian Accords models V USDM Accord models, we are getting better features and comforts even we only gotten either 2 or 3 trims and for the 9th gen is 4 trims including the Hybrid model. Yes, I am agree, we should have Acura dealership here. However, it is lucky enough we have the 11th gen as most countries won't have this 11th gen.
Better than a Camry but not as good as a Lexus…
The new 2025 Camry is better than this Accord. Drives better, looks better, much better fuel economy, much faster, and a much better entertainment system and interior.
The 2025 isn’t on sale yet, so I’m not sure how anyone knows it drives better than this car and the fuel economy is better on this car than the current Camry
I guess you must had driven the 2025 Camry and 2023 Accord the U.S.?
Looks just depending on personal taste. However, I like the red interior on XSE and the look of entertainment system and real-time maps.
Agreed with better fuel economy and better performance.
2025 Camry is on sale in the US currently. Every comparison by auto journalists has the Camry beating the Accord in most metric except for trunk space and back seat roominess. Camry also offers an optional panoramic roof.
@@omaramarkit is on sale. Try to keep up.
