Did you not learn anything from majority of the big releases the past years. This is a major red flag. Don't pre-order! Buy it at launch if reviews indicate it's a) good and b) runs well.
Having a beta is way better because this way people can feel how the gameplay is and if they want to buy it or not instead of just buying the game and refund it if they don't like it and leave a bad review. A beta shows honesty.
I hope those 6 coop mission are as replay-able as they claim them to be.
Be we are also getting free content updates with the game so I’m sure they’ll add more with maybe more chaos factions in the mix, that would be interesting.
Indded! They confirmed that they will be releasing more maps for the Operations mode in future updates, which, as we know will be for free.

The reason they dont have the PC specs yet is that Optimizations have to get to a certain level/state before they can give out the official specs. Generally that is the best practice (granted not always followed). There will still need to be more optimization and performance engineering after that, but without getting to that state they do not have proper data to determine the requirements.
Also it takes far longer to optimize a game for PC than it does for consoles
It's safe to say that older specs will struggle
In my opinion, This North America tour has been the Beta for the game. Its allowed them to test the servers without having to do any of the background work and giving people access to the files of the game to avoid data miners finding anything out.
petty terrible test as they are jut using a few pre-built PCs and not the tens of thousands of different set ups that a real beta gives. If it turns out that older AMD cpus dont like it or whatever then its going to be a horrible launch.
@@derpherp7432 Oh I agree with you 100%, Like everyone else I was looking forward to getting some beta time in. I'm fairly certain that there will be some server issues due to their decision. You've hit the nail on the head with the fact that we still have no PC specs and there is still a lot of smoke and mirrors considering how close we are to launch. They have even taken payment for the collectors editions so I am starting to get that nervous feeling.

@@MacraggeBandit Oh they are definitely optimising it,But every single “multiplayer multiplat” game that’s been on console has ran better than PC counterparts on launch,Many games have been like this but it’s just because it’s built for the PS5 and Xbox Series X mainly,PC games are lucky,Somtimes they don’t even get games like this straight away it’s usually down the line,I remember WWZ and SM1 was the same for optimisation when launched,But consoles ran them fine .

Okay, can someone explain to me why 12 hours for a game is considered short. Because I thought games should be at least 7 to 8 hours long. How long does a game need to be to be considered good? 10, 15, 20, 48, 72 hours long?
The first space marine game was like 7 hours long to some, but I heard you can beat it under 4.
Seriously I saw people complaining thinking it was gonna only be 8 hours like 12 is good if you have a life outside if gaming lol like they can only do so much man lol
Space Marine 1 is a 13 hour campaign according to the internet, I will be incredibly disappointed if its actually just 12 hours long.
12 hours for a 59.99 game is SHORT 12 hours for a 10 dollar game is long 12 hours for a game that is also being sold for for basically 100 dollars is most likely scam but may possibly have pvp that makes the price slightly worth it but its unknown untell they stop updating the game and whether they add in modding support which will keep it alive long past it being abandoned by both the devs and the player base (This entirely depends on if the campaigns have replay value or not if this game had some of the shadow of war game mechanics then this game could be a long as 8 hours and it would be fine)
@generalshock4359 that still doesn't make sense. I saw and played games that are not even 12 hours long. Some of those games were considered the best games in gaming history. And they were roughly 7-9 hours long. And most people can beat in 3-4 hours or even less. And they were full price too.
Is the standard of how games are made so high that it takes one niche thing to be declared a game being bad because it doesn't meet yours or anybody else's criteria. Or am I going crazy and/or too old to understand this stuff. I feel like I'm been out of the loop, and I don't know if that is good or bad thing.

unlike many campaign games with 60h stories, this one has a pvp mode and live service too. this matches the price range of most games with the same model

Beta was just gonna be multiplayer stuff, they can work on that as they go.
I don't mind them delaying that to polish the campaign, no ones going buy the game if all the day 1 reviews say i's unpolished buggy or feels unfinished.

The only DLC I want from this game is a “ultimate apocalypse” pvp mode where it’s 100 v 100
I think 12 hours for a campaign is fine. Anything longer would feel like a slog. I'm not too concerned about a beta/demo since I like going into games blind. The only thing I want to see is offline bots for eternal war and operations. I think offline bots for operations is going to happen since I saw a discussion on the subreddit about it
I’m surprised no one seems to have caught that the Power Fist was in the trailer. I’m super excited to use it and wonder what else they have for the weapon sandbox
I think two particular things would ensure SM2 can stay relevant long into the future when it comes to multiplayer - allowing players to host their own dedicated servers, and allowing us to mod the with custom maps and game modes.

I want them to add so you can do pier to pier or our own hosted servers (on *both* services and our own computers/servers at home) eventually, so when they eventually have to shut down the servers in the future (which is inevitable) we can still play it in however many years in the future that will be!
I just really want a chaos co op mode
Performance will be an interesting beast in this game I think. Without any game dev knowledge, I would say that the 6v6 space marine multiplayer will be less taxing on systems compared to the story and coop missions with 100s of simulated tyranids (but I don't know how Saber's horde simulation engine works). I'm also bit sceptical about how well Saber's servers will handle the day 1 demand (maybe the 4 day early access for certain preorders will help, I don't know), many games pooped on launch, even after having a server stress test betas. This game looks great from every non-technical point, but messing up technically could break any game's momentum.
Look at world War Z they did both the games w swarm tech. It was pretty good

Not sure if you've covered it but what are your thoughts on the advanced access on steam, just the usual marketing shenanigans to get you to fork over money for a 4 day head start or just a nice bonus for those paying the additional cash for the game + season pass?
When they say midnight paris time? Did he mean yesterday or tonight? I literally just preordered the game last night around 7:00PM EST after work. It'd be kinda sucky to miss out on the bolt pistol skin by just an hour or two. I literally just found out about it

I want at least a campaign demo before release. I used to play the hell outta the first game's Demo on 360 for a while until I got the official copy and beaten the game in 2013. 2014 was the year I got Dawn of war 2 because I thought it looked like the guys I fought with in the bridge. After seeing some familiar ORKS that's when my slow brain hit me that "HEY THIS IS THE SAME SERIES!" the same series and miniatures I saw from a comic book store. I was mostly into gears of war and thought it was a fun knock off game in a more sci-fi setting without cover. (I do regret thinking that, I was dumb during those years.)
Crazy how my childhood memories were a bit all over the place and somehow didn't notice 40K until I was 12. That was when I got my first gaming PC and had no idea the internet had a community on this stuff. I simply love it all.
I just railed my ADHD med and I just woke up so I just pulled extra text outta nowhere. xD
I hope there wil be a spear like the ones the custodes have

It’s cool that they acknowledged the people who were looking forward to the beta with the skin. Makes me worried that they need to pull people away from it because they aren’t confident with the polish yet but hopefully they iron it out.

Always find with any times given for games to complete them, it's usually half of what is stated. Other than that quite happy with the news.

Crossplay has been confirmed, their previous games Evil Dead and WWZ both had it as well.

This will get into all parts to GWs projects. I reference now a non 40k game, Helldivers 2. This game also has had DEI intervention. You have only seen chosen clips of the discussed game. after the delays the beta not happening felt pretty obvious tbh. i think its fine. i like to go into games kinda blind anyway. and its nice to know when we all get the game and play mp we are all starting out together at the same time. not against some people who played the beta 24./7 while it was up.

I don't mind there being no beta, as long as the teams give us the best they can i'm more than happy, plus i get a pistol skin so we're pog racing really.
I hope they give the community the tools for self hosted servers as well as provider hosted servers. I wanna use my 2nd pc to run a custom server for my discord goons

my only issue with dedicated servers is that they can shut them down in a few years, whereas p2p means the game is playable through the end of times ... hope they address that
Depending upon features, open beta's aren't necessarily a good track record of how a person's computer would run the end product. First is version differences, games take a lot of optimisations (particularly for shaders and other gpu intensive tasks such as particles) but more importantly, if a game is open beta multiplayer only, then obviously you aren't experiencing the game with AI, and typically less in the way of physics simulations.
Still, would have been freaking awesome to be addicted to SM2's multiplayer before launch, just like I was addicted to SM1's multiplayer too.

Still beyond hyped for this game, but I can't lie even if they release Min/Rec System Reqs. It's still a tough thing to base my confidence on. I run an older machine still and I've seen games with requirements that I well surpassed but still played like ass on my machine. Would have loved a Beta or Demo or anything, hell I'd be happy with just a BENCHMARK test to see where my pc sits. I played a good amount of World War Z from these guys and it ran that like butter with hundreds of enemies on screen. But the graphical fidelity on this one, looks like something else entirely.

Erm, isn't it a century after the events of the first game? Aren't there two more service studs on Titus' forehead than in the first game? Doesn't this mean that he essentially doubled his service time? So I wouldn't say that it's right after the events of the first game.

I think SM is primary a console game,Optimised for PS5 and Xbox Series X,It usually is this way which is why PC stuff is always more complex or behind when it comes to multiplat.

Betas used to be pretty standard... it's definitely a red flag to NOT have one especially given recent events of high profile games backing out of Betas, the game releases, and it turns out to be a total train wreck. How many times we gotta hear "were not doing it so we can polish things" and it turned out the reason was so the early reviewers and pre-orders couldn't back out or warn people about the game.

Feel like cancelling of public Beta means Developer is not confident of the level of optimisation of the game as if worried people may cancel pre-orders based on what they see in the open public beta . have been burned too much by pre-orders . Will be waiting for Reviews for this one as I do for all games nowadays .
If they make and online game mode with all the races obvs in due time with updates over time but dark crusade you can play as any race Donno just me 🤣
This beta news has put a massive damper on my excitement. A beta would have shown that the devs are confident in their product.
Im now expecting a cyberpunk situation. Unless they do a demo of course. But something tells me we would have heard about that in this exact blog post if it was planned.
Lets just hope im wrong and this game comes out and is everything we want it to be.
