Just a thought Boss, most of the Death Watch units are in the Space Marine codex, so there is nothing stopping GW adding in the Agents of the Imperium codex , "You can pick units from this list from the SM codex, they count as Death Watch". Yes it would mean you would need FOUR books for a Agents army collection , but I can see GW doing that in their search for obscene amounts of money.

The way primaris deathwatch squads are now built is moronic, so I wouldn’t mind GW fixing that. Folks already build their Veterans as primaris anyway, so one datasheet is ok in that sense (assuming all weapons options stay available). But we’ll see.
Did someone at GW go 'What's the worse way we can do this army'? As you put they are rumours but if this is true they are just lacking so much. They could have focused the Combat Patrol as Arbites but give them now a judge leader and their truck. Death Watch loosing so much when they have the chance to add more Kill Teams for them. Have the current old non-named Inquisitior Removed and replace it with 2 new models one based around the Warded Armour and the other around Psyker powers. Give a Navigatior to have a more command Navy leader outside of a Rogue Trader.

Wow and I thought my 2500 points was a huge loss. I'm so sorry to my fellow Deathwatch Brothers out there. I'm not even angry or mad at GW, I'm just fucking sad and depressed. I literally dont have any other army to play, I finally invested my time into learning 10th hoping I could play DW and a powerhouse army like Ultras or Fists... Damn I'm sad.
Id say if they only have 4 datasheets, deathwatch might be getting a full codex down the road and these 4 datasheets are just becoming, agents of the imperuim aswell. Id say nuking a whole army like this, is impossible, but then again we all know what happened with Fantasy and AOS.
Wouldn't the Deathwatch still be able to use all normal Space Marine units? It is just there special models that are in this codex. Sure they might not be able to use all the Kill Teams that were just mixing models, but surely most people will have the models to just order them into regular squads? Also just because datasheets are missing doesn't mean they won't have rules expections in just text. Will be interesting to see what is happening.
Wont work, half the unitis wont have the numbers for full squads due to the changes made in the index that forced people to buy in a lot of singel or dubble units to make the teams complient with the datasheets...

Assuming what you’re saying is true, but incorporating the fact that GW put DW down as a faction receiving a supplement this edition (an edition rolling out new veterans units), is it possible that they are pursuing a split for the models here? The 4 data sheets you called out are all stylized and labeled as Inquisition models. There may still be room here for an additional supplement that then focuses on Primaris marines units, with the first born and inquisition stuff souped in, like demons in CSM

Also why do BA get a multi kit release when armies that actually need help just get a Skitarii on stilts or something similar
I'm not sure any of this make sense. I understand that Deathwatch is the least played faction, but GW would want more players to buy models, especially if that means double dipping for codices. I feel like this news is exclusive to the Inquisition Agents specifically. The reverse "allies of the imperium" sort of thing, where in this codex, the Deathwatch, Sororitas, and Grey Knights would be the allied factions joining the Inquisition Ordos. I say this because Artemis is a made to order model and isn't regularly sold. Kill Team Cassius, the Veterans, even the Terminators are regularly sold. It doesn't make sense that GW would pigeonhole themselves into removing most of the faction, especially because they said that each previous faction would be receiving a codex.
People who still have hope for the kill teams remember that gw ARE NOT doing points per model so if theirs only one unit its highly unlikely that their is more than some barebones customization options

Yeah this seems the most sensible take. Deathwatch would be able to integrate with the Inquisitor units and their respective Ordo's detachment rules, but they'd be the allied units, instead of the Assassins as normal.
I am unsure of the truth of that. 10th is about simplification, and that means removing factions to reduce bloat. Ynnaria and Harlequins got the axe, and Deathwatch are super unpopular. I don’t see them sticking around

Or the AWESOME Heirloom weapons for vanguard vets.

It wouldn't be hard to imagine that the 4 deathwatch datasheets are just what's allowed to be in the agents army without it counting as an axillary. ei: if you have agents you can bring these 4, but if you want the rest of the deathwatch units you have to bring them in a separate detachment as axillary. The new terminator captain must be one with a thunder hammer and storm shield as its the only old loadout one that hasn't been refreshed to the new terminator scale. maybe thunder hammer terminator captain and assault terminators? one can hope but seems fitting to be released with the blood angels

I kind of get the Kill Team thing, With the new toughness rules that is an awkward unit with the variant toughness, but this is the laziest solution by far.
I think DW is like GK - they’ll get some additional detachments in the agents codex, but will keep current detachment and get their own full codex later in the edition. Getting “included” rather than “folded into” would be the more accurate wording.

My hopes for the Watch is that GW is just cleaning up the duplicate units and not just totally destroying them. Most of the DW units are really just units already taken from the Space Marine Codex, and so that these four datasheets are just the ones that we cant get in the basic marine codex. They could always make a modded version of the Blackspear detachment which includes the various "Killteams" and a list of units that we can take from the Space Marine codex. Much like the ways of the old Codex Supplements. Would've loved to have seen a new watch unit or two, new inquisitors outside of Coteaz, and maybe even some new Stormtroopers (Maybe we might get lucky and be able to take Tempestus Scions. Another fun thing that they could do would be a way for us to take Deathwatch troops in the Inquisition Detachment so that we could play them alongside other marines, guard, sisters, and more.
I wouldn't be surprised if GW releases an updated Terminator Assault box to match the current scale. Blood Angels in Terminator armor using Assault Weapons would make sense.

My question for the Deathwatch change is: will you still be able to use units from the Space Marines faction to make a Deathwatch army? Cuz if the answer is yes then the faction really hasn’t changed it’s just being grouped together with Imperial Agents, but if you can’t take a unit of Blade Guard Veterans or a Repulsor let’s say and make it Deathwatch, that’d be a real shame.
Valrak, any word on my man Gabriel Seth? I theorize that one of the Blood Angels detachments will be Flesh Tearers themed, so I am optimistic he will still have rules despite not getting a new model. Really, I’m just hoping his rules stick around long enough so I can take my army to LVO this year.
The 4 units of deathwatch, if they keep the veterans it may not be too bad. You could run a vanilla space marine army and add flyers, watch captain and veterans. You will loose the kill teams but there pretty poor in terms of performance. Will need to wait and see what rules and restrictions are in place when the codex drops.
As much as the news about DW sucks, I just want them to put out the damn codex. Just rip the bandage off. It's been the worst kept secret for months and I'm just tired of the doom and gloom. We also have no roadmap for releases for the rest of 2024 -- which is insane, btw -- but GW keeps trying to tease people with this "redacted" codex.
I'll throw some stuff at the wall & see what sticks BA Terminator Captain - I can only think of two characters off the top of my head....Captain Arenos Karlaen from the Space Hulk: Tactics computer game or Captain Orpheo from the WH + Angels of Death show But truthfully I am still holding out for a rerelease of the Space Hulk Board Game & those sculpts have aged like fine wine

Given how few customization options other codexes have, I don't think Gdubs is gonna break the pattern. It's probably going to be a firstborn squad that can take all the firstborn models except terminators with a note that says to use the Primaris datasheets out of codex Space Marines.

Well this will make skipping the agents codex a lot easier if the only new model is Coteaz. I’m not a deathwatch guy so it’s not a huge issue. Now we patiently wait as Chaos has been super stalled out and nobody has a codex except vanilla chaos.
I'm trying so hard to be optimistic, but GW really isn't giving me a good track record to go off of. As long as I can still play my DW units in my SM lists I will be happy, I think. If there's a flavorful detachment even better.

The deathwatch stuff does not surprise me. This is the problem with refreshing the entire SM range focusing mostly on the 'current' narrative. I am going to just assume that the only models you can take in the kill team are from primaris units. 40k is better as a sandbox for narrative purposes. Not making everything new have to be the most current setting. I just hope that GW do not do something similar to GK when they get rescaled
Its odd hearing about a brand new codex and brand new army (granted its composed of existing models/units) without lots of new units, you'd think they'd release more options. Kinda sounds like an attempt at FOMO by forcing people to buy one new model in order to convert it. As opposed to waiting for a model they might like as is. Inquisitorial storm troopers and new inquisitor models for each Ordos should have been the minimum.

Another fun thing that they could do would be a way for us to take Deathwatch troops in the Inquisition Detachment so that we could play them alongside other marines, guard, sisters, and more.
I wouldn't be surprised if GW releases an updated Terminator Assault box to match the current scale. Blood Angels in Terminator armor using Assault Weapons would make sense.
I’m going to the beach in a few days and will be back in a week. It will be really awesome if a new box set for agents of the imperium comes out when i get back. Also, i turn 36 next month!
I don't care about the Legends rule. I play for fun and if someone has a problem with my Sicaran/Leviathan or Kratos they can suck it.

My question for the Deathwatch change is: will you still be able to use units from the Space Marines faction to make a Deathwatch army? Cuz if the answer is yes then the faction really hasn’t changed it’s just being grouped together with Imperial Agents, but if you can’t take a unit of Blade Guard Veterans or a Repulsor let’s say and make it Deathwatch, that’d be a real shame.

Valrak, any word on my man Gabriel Seth? I theorize that one of the Blood Angels detachments will be Flesh Tearers themed, so I am optimistic he will still have rules despite not getting a new model.
Really, I’m just hoping his rules stick around long enough so I can take my army to LVO this year.
The 4 units of deathwatch, if they keep the veterans it may not be too bad. You could run a vanilla space marine army and add flyers, watch captain and veterans. You will loose the kill teams but there pretty poor in terms of performance. Will need to wait and see what rules and restrictions are in place when the codex drops.

As much as the news about DW sucks, I just want them to put out the damn codex. Just rip the bandage off. It's been the worst kept secret for months and I'm just tired of the doom and gloom. We also have no roadmap for releases for the rest of 2024 -- which is insane, btw -- but GW keeps trying to tease people with this "redacted" codex.

I’m a little confused as to how an IA list could be remotely viable. Sure you could get some relatively okay infantry units - where is any anti armour? How would it possibly play against knights or monsters?

There is a big warhammer event in Washington (US) this weekend so they are likely saving some reveals up for that as well as letting AoS launch without interuption.
Only one model release for Agents of the Imperium is kinda dissapointing. Should atleast give us a new multi-part Inquisitor and/or Assassin to go along with it or something.

Given how few customization options other codexes have, I don't think Gdubs is gonna break the pattern.
It's probably going to be a firstborn squad that can take all the firstborn models except terminators with a note that says to use the Primaris datasheets out of codex Space Marines.

Well this will make skipping the agents codex a lot easier if the only new model is Coteaz. I’m not a deathwatch guy so it’s not a huge issue.

The deathwatch stuff does not surprise me. This is the problem with refreshing the entire SM range focusing mostly on the 'current' narrative. I am going to just assume that the only models you can take in the kill team are from primaris units.
40k is better as a sandbox for narrative purposes. Not making everything new have to be the most current setting.

Its odd hearing about a brand new codex and brand new army (granted its composed of existing models/units) without lots of new units, you'd think they'd release more options. Kinda sounds like an attempt at FOMO by forcing people to buy one new model in order to convert it. As opposed to waiting for a model they might like as is.
Inquisitorial storm troopers and new inquisitor models for each Ordos should have been the minimum.

Again, I am disappointed that there will only be one new model for agents. For months we've got nothing and they're coming out with only one new thing. This year really feels lackluster. Valrak is doing so much favor to GW making me feel hyped for smallest of things, which is great, but realistically, they should be givinv us more in general.
Any rumours on old world Valrak? Next releases, and new minis etc?
