Hawk Lords!!! For those new/unfamiliar to 40k, the greatest pilot Marines in the Imperium. They're in a weird place on tabletop because plane models aren't well balanced/encouraged, but this chapter is said to do a lot of the flight training for the other chapters. Think of it as the "Top Gun" school of the Space Marines is run by the Hawk Lords.
I was going to make a comment about Lamenters being that good for the bright colors on the battlefield like the Imperial Fists, but they were wiped out before I could type it
Blood ravens go so fucking hard. For Tactical I'm going Deathwatch, Vanguard will be Salamanders or White Scars, Assault definitely Blood Ravens or Angels, Bulwark either Black Templar or Exorcists, Heavy either Iron Hands or Imperial Fist, and Sniper will be Void Reapers and if we get beak helmets then I'll do Raven Guard.
Really hope the Mantis Warriors are an option in game. They are probably the most well known White Scar succussor, so it'd be odd for them not to be there. Also, I think it's a nice detail that every color option in game is named after a citadel paint. Might end up helping anyone who gets into the hobby through the game and wants to make the jump to tabletop.
18:40 I don't think the Ultramarines Champion pack is the first Season Pass content because its listed as a separate item when comparing the Gold Edition to the Ultra edition. Gold has the Season Pass with Ultra having the Season Pass and Champion Pack and being ten dollars more. So the Ultramarines Champion pack I our first major Cosmetic DLC not a Season pass its literally on the Steam page.
@@Subject19-b6b well the campaign centers around the Ultramarines. It's not far fetched to think they'll make more dlc's for other chapters post launch.
Don't forget they'll also need to add stuff for the traitor legions, people will want to customise those plenty for PvP too (And if SM 1 was anything to go by, maybe some PvE stuff as the traitor legion too at some point? since you could play Exterminatus as them)
Red scorpions are descended from Emperor’s children, not world eaters. We know this because the Flawless host, a warband descended from the EC and notably obsessed with purity, raided them for their geneseed.
The Flawless Host worship Slaanesh but aren’t Emperor’s Children, they’re former Loyalists who went Renegade, and Heretic Astartes warbands will raid whoever they can for geneseed out of sheer necessity, not because the Chapter they’re raiding is of a particular geneline (which the Chaos marines would have almost no way of knowing in the first place)
@@autisticskeleton1041That’s interesting and all but FH were originally an EC warband and I do not care for retcons. Thus I will continue playing my FH as EC.

Sir, I would just like to say this was great. As someone new to the Warhammer universe and recently dipping my toes into the lore, the way you broke this down was fantastic and actually cleared some things up I had confused with certain chapters. Well done man🔥
Soul Drinkers are renegade so I doubt we'll see them Lamenters probably have a decent chance of getting added. I'd say that of all the chapters that aren't outright confirmed to be getting cosmetic packs the most likely 2 are probably the Blood Angels (which would include the Lamenters as one of their more famous and beloved successor chapters) and the Space Wolves. Mantis Warriors will be relying on a White Scars DLC
@@Eclipsed_EmbersSoul Drinkers were brought back as primaris marines, just like the Lamenters. The original Soul Drinkers died out, and the few remaining Soul Drinkers disappeared after walking through a warp portal. But after the Ultima founding, several dead chapters were brought back. These new Soul Drinkers were even made with Rogal Dorn gene seed, making them an official Imperial Fists successor chapter. Same with the Lamenters, they eventually all died out, with the only surviving Lamenter being a dreadnought that was serving in the Deathwatch. But now the Lamenters have returned, though these new Lamenters have inherented the bad luck curse.
@@killerzillavolt2655 I didn't know that stuff about the Soul Drinkers but the Lamenters were never fully wiped out. the lore around that dreadnought you mentioned is that it *mistakenly* thought that the chapter had been wiped out because contact was lost with them after the Lamenters ran into a splinter of Hive Fleet Kraken. eventually the Lamenters actually managed to win but they were left too depleted to join the Blood Angels in the defense of Baal against Hive Fleet Leviathan. if they tried replacing the Lamenters with an all-Primaris chapter that was probably a result of that same in-universe mistake.
You missed the coolest part of the space sharks. Not only does the imperium not know where their gene seed comes from, the imperium has completely forgotten they existed. Theyre under voluntary exile under the guise they can commit the “red tithe” basically enslaving people and either forcing them to work or become space marines to keep their legion up. But most go willingly, excited to work with the marines. But these deals were stricken from imperium records
tactic-ultramarine, fist or blood ravens assault-blood angels Vanguard-space wolves bulwark-dark angels or black templar sniper-raven guard heavy-salamander or fist
The Minotaurs have existed since 1988, well before the Iron Warriors were first mentioned in lore (around 1993) I think. Also the Red Scorpions started in 1988 and I think originally they were an Ultramarine successor but I think that's been retconned. Both started in the Badab War story from 1988 which is why it is my favourite lore from 40K.
18:52 the Ultramarines Cosmetic Pack is likely the Ultramarines Champion Pack you get from the Ultra edition of the game, the Season Pass is listed as a different thing and can be gotten through the Gold edition.
No, because the Ultramarine Champion Pack is officially stated to contain 2 skins for Power Armor and the Heavy Bolter. The Successor DLC contains what’s shown in the video. It’s basically the Ultra Edition version of the Macragge’s Chosen pre-order DLC and for whatever reason, they have not shown us what this actually looks like. Same goes for the Season Pass, they need to reveal this prior to launch otherwise we are paying for things we don’t even know about
I hope it's included in the season pass. As much as an idiot I took the pack that allows you to play on September 5th. As much as I expect nothing from the season pass.
Preators of Orpheus are combination of Ultramarines and Iron Hands , they knowledge of imperial science are second to none in the imperium. If you like the Ultramarines way but you follow the Omnissiah this chapter is for you, they are waiting on Pavonis. Personality the Space Sharks/Carcharodons and Blood Ravens are two of my favorites.
I’m hoping there is going to be more customisation to make you’re marine more in line with their chapter.. salamanders dragon helms, space wolves massive furs on their shoulders etc etc
You have everything you need to make them already in the game, minus the emblem. Luckily the salamanders emblem is almost identical. That's what I plan on doing for now. Not all black dragons have the bone growths but it'd be cool if they added that later.
Honestly surprised that there is a couple missing I would have thought would be slam dunk to put in right away being the Raptors and Wolfspear. With the Space Wolves only having the one ultima or successor chapter would basically mean there really shouldn't be any DLC focused on the Space Wolves in the same way this first one for the Ultramarines is. The Raptors seem super popular of late especially with the GW side of things so that one shocked me. Still appreciate the video heaps Valrak!
Honestly the Black Templars have always been the ones that actually had some common sense, because the reality is, even a full chapter of marines on 1 planet, so the full 1000 of them (which let's be honest it's usually a company's worth, so only 100 even)....wouldn't be enough to actually do anything, not because they lack strength, but because they just couldn't be in enough places at once. 10.000 at least would be a bit more practical even for these super soldiers.
16:38 Not entirely true, another author (don't remember which book regarding the 21st cursed founding) said that the minotaur's geneseed was 'chimeric'. meaning that it wasn't just the iron warrior geneseed that was used to create these guys.
Me and my boys cant wait to unlock the Deathwatch and rock our former chapters on our pauldrons! Really playing into the small unit xeno exterminators.
"Many speculate these unknowing foundings are made with Traitor gene source, but only the Primarchs went traitor, the gene source is innocent." "The Minotaurs are heresy! They're made with Iron Warrior gene source!" Anyway, Spartan Space Marines are rad, though Asterion Moloc isn't a cyborg. Whenever he dies, a new Minotaur is either given his memories or is brainwashed and is renamed Asterion Moloc. Personally, I'm waiting for Iron Snakes to be added. I can easily make the colors, all I need is the heraldry.
of all the chapters that aren't yet announced to be getting DLC I'd say that Blood Angels are one of the most likely ones (either them or the Space Wolves) so Lamenters have a pretty good chance of getting added as part of the Blood Angel pack.
I could have sworn that the reason the Black Templars have more than the codex allows is because the chapters are allowed to have more than allowed if they are on Crusade.....so they are always on Crusade.
some chapters just choose not to follow the codex. don't need to find technicalities in the rules if you just choose to ignore the rulebook altogether. for example there's the Space Wolves. before the Primaris came along the Space Wolves had only ever attempted to make 1 successor chapter (the Wulf Brothers. it went awfully and the entire chapter became Wulfen and were disbanded), after which they gave up completely and stayed at full legion strength as a chapter that was not codex-compliant. after the Primaris were made the Space Wolves made a second, more successful, successor, the Wolfspear, but on the whole the Space Wolves themselves are still non-compliant and stick to legion strength the Blood Angels, Dark Angels, and White Scars are also considered non-compliant for their own reasons (fairly major reasons in the case of the Blood Angels (the Sanguinary Guard, Death Companies, and Sanguinary Priests) and Dark Angels (they have a few issues but the most openly notable non-compliance is the Ravenwing). for the White Scars it mostly just seems to be a case of them having a bunch of traditional role names and honorary titles instead of the using the terms laid out in the codex). these non-compliances seem to extend to most (if not all) of their successor chapters. doing a double check, even besides their raw numbers, the Black Templars have a fair few other differences that mark them out as being non-compliant. even the Ultramarines have their own minor deviances (Tyrannic War Veterans to be specific), but it's minor enough that they are still considered codex-compliant. probably the most codex-compliant chapter would be the Imperial Fists.
@@Eclipsed_Embers I was only referring to the Black Templars. The reason they follow the codex and still have more than they should is because when on Crusade. You can do that.
Random fact of the day, the leader of a world eater warband, called the Skulltakers is led by Zhufor. Why’s he special? Besides being the Butcher of Vraks, he’s also a former Storm Giants marine, not sure if he was a captain or sergeant though, but I do remember they drove him mad, he then killed the leader of the warband and took over and here we are. Even his model was huge!
I think it's strange that there are no Raptors or White Consuls. I hope we get an Imperial Fists Successor pack. I should be able to make Hospitallers at launch using the Black Templar stuff, but I also want Hammers of Dorn.
Obviously I'm super excited for the Carcharadons! But really hope there will be more aesthetics for them. There known for using chain axes instead of swords. Also I'd love to see them have their tribal markings over there armour. But I guess it depends on how detailed they will go with the looks of the marines.
9:47 They're easier (for beginners) to paint than yellow. xD 18:18 I would have loved it if they had White Panthers as a scheme for the UM successors! Was one of my first alts, when I originally branched off from UM and DA back in 2E. Loved the contrast of the pattern when I saw it in in-house 'create your own chapter' segment in White Dwarf! ^_^ Helped inspire my own DA successors going into 5th, which I was pleasantly surprised to see mirrored in the DoC almost exactly. But hey, maybe they'll have a customizer like the first game did.
Awwwww you were doing so well!!!! I gotta jump in and protect one of my table top armies. From what I've found out. The storm giants are salamanders successors supposedly. But the fan conspiracies claim they may be a hybrid of salamanders and death guard because they are bigger and tankier than other chapters. Apart from that it all sounds about right. But the storm giants entry made me think hold up, wait a minute
Favorite loyalist chapters: Black Templars and Space Wolves. The Carcaridons are up there now too. The more I learn about them, the more I like them. Favorite chaos chapters: Death Guard and Nightlords. Alpha Legion is really interesting too, curious what's going on with them
There was a book where a remembrancer was divining the future. "It's too late... the Wolf is at the door and it hungers for blood. Oh, Throne... no, the blood! The Ravens, I see them too. The lost sons and a Raven of blood. They cry out for salvation and knowledge, but it is denied!" In the story there were loyalist thousand sons who were sent off of prosperous by magnus on some mission before the burning of prosperous and they had no knowledge of Magnus' fuck up. It's shows that detachment of the thousand sons stayed loyal and it's all but confirmed they were made into the blood ravens. Also there's rumblings of the exorcists actually being a successor chapter of the Grey knights due to the chapter's psychic tendencies and ability to endure the demonic better than other chapters. It was called the dark founding for a reason and the other chapter from that founding is my personal favorite the death spectres.
omg I just saw you can apply NULN OIL to your color scheme, this game is going to be sick. I'll spend hours just on messing around with the customization lol
Iron hands should have silver hands. Taurans should have black on the lower half of their legs. Iron Hounds and Castellans of The Rift should have different colored face plates. Theres a lot of customization things missing.

They aperently also good at using custom jump packs from what I read. Makes the chapter very fitting to put on the Assault Marine.
The video EVERYONE was waiting for. Valrak out here doing the Emperor’s work.
I was going to make a comment about Lamenters being that good for the bright colors on the battlefield like the Imperial Fists, but they were wiped out before I could type it
nah depleted to 200 men again
@@Ghost_of_Malakim_Phoros oops sorry, since you made this comment they have in fact been reduced to 100
@@BattleBro77 noo mah boys
Blood ravens go so fucking hard.
For Tactical I'm going Deathwatch, Vanguard will be Salamanders or White Scars, Assault definitely Blood Ravens or Angels, Bulwark either Black Templar or Exorcists, Heavy either Iron Hands or Imperial Fist, and Sniper will be Void Reapers and if we get beak helmets then I'll do Raven Guard.
A salamander without a heavy flamer?
Heresy.
@@thomasthetanderloin well to be fair there is no flamer
@@shibby8765 yes there is, its available for the heavy class.
@@thomasthetanderloin That's a multi-melta

Really hope the Mantis Warriors are an option in game. They are probably the most well known White Scar succussor, so it'd be odd for them not to be there. Also, I think it's a nice detail that every color option in game is named after a citadel paint. Might end up helping anyone who gets into the hobby through the game and wants to make the jump to tabletop.
Then they discover the hell of painting whites and yellows.
The Ultramarine champion pack is some armor cosmetics. The Ultramarine successor pack is the first dlc in the season pass.
Ok if that's the case that's very confusing. Too much Ultracrap it all sounds so similar.
@@Subject19-b6b well the campaign centers around the Ultramarines. It's not far fetched to think they'll make more dlc's for other chapters post launch.
Storm Giants are actually rumored to be Salamander successors. Their size makes me not question that rumor's validity.
Cannot wait to rock my Chapter colours, "Into the fires of battle, unto the anvil of war!" Emperor be praised I am so keen!
same, I'll do my custom chapters
Don't forget they'll also need to add stuff for the traitor legions, people will want to customise those plenty for PvP too (And if SM 1 was anything to go by, maybe some PvE stuff as the traitor legion too at some point? since you could play Exterminatus as them)
This game is too good to be real, so much variety, chapters, guns, enemies…. Its mindblowing
Unconfirmed meme lore 👍
Blood ravens? Welp I know what I'm picking. Time to steal as much as possible
"Today, we will steal the enemy!"
Space gypsies all the way.
You DO NOT pick them. lol You are just a colored Ultramarine.
My teammates better not question why the wargear supply pod was empty when they opened it.
“You have Captain Diomedes”
so happy the blood ravens are in it
BOLT DOWN EVERYTHING!!!
Was really hoping the Space Wolves would get some cool pelts and skulls to adorn their armor with, but The color schemes still cool if nothing else.
They will probably do that for a Space Wolves season. Hopefully the prices are actually decent
@@skarletfenrir6979 Guess it would make sense. Cant think of many other games that could have as massive a list of potential cosmetic DLC items that get stuffed into them down the line as a 40k game could.
Im fully expecting small DLC packs including armor adornments like this.
Hey ... Raven Guard - they have always been my favourite.
Corvis vs Lorgar was awesome
Almost every lore about the Red Scorpions can be found in the Warhammer Vault.
Fingers cross for The Raptors
For real, i need my camo boys
Storm giants are suspected salamanders and the torans colour scheme is not correct but I think that might be them not wanting to code every piece of armour to be separated painted.
Can you show us the Chaos heraldry? i want to see what the death guard one unlocks please!
Heresy!
Thats the one thing the early promo code youtubers cant access yet. Multiplayer isnt available for them (as in, the pvp multiplayer) - so they cant see, let alone edit, the chaos marines
@@shoulderpyro I am not talking about the Chaos marines for PVP i am talking about the paints and emblems in the Chaos Heraldry tab, i want to see what they unlock but none of the people with the early code have shown all of them in one video
@@blackknight2275 Ohh my mistake. Sorry! Aye they should have access to those. Or maybe they dont as in, pvp is required to unlock them? Which would make sense. But they could've at least shown em in the tab

Sir, I would just like to say this was great. As someone new to the Warhammer universe and recently dipping my toes into the lore, the way you broke this down was fantastic and actually cleared some things up I had confused with certain chapters. Well done man🔥
Challenge ; take a shot whenever Valrak says "one of my favourite chapters"
Aww yeah Blood ravens, gonna have so many relics "gifted" to my chapter :D
Just imagining a blood raven with some bits of armour random different colours because he keeps stealing from the other chapters
1:44 Awww yeah my favourite chapter is here
Glad to see em too, i was afraid they might’ve been left out
Damn, I didn't expect to be rickrolled.
I need Soul Drinkers, Mantis Warriors, and Lamenters.
Soul Drinkers are renegade so I doubt we'll see them
Lamenters probably have a decent chance of getting added.
My friends and I were Dark Angels in Space Marine 1~ I will be continuing that legacy!
But these deals were stricken from imperium records
tactic-ultramarine, fist or blood ravens
assault-blood angels
Vanguard-space wolves
bulwark-dark angels or black templar
sniper-raven guard
heavy-salamander or fist
Not mentioning the crimson fists is criminal
@18:30 How do you speculate this to be the season pass content when it clearly reads "Get DLC" on the bottom right of the photo?
Using the GW paint names for the colour names was a simple but inspired choice
Same goes for the Season Pass, they need to reveal this prior to launch otherwise we are paying for things we don’t even know about
@@joeschmoe5608 Ive not seen any official description of the Champion Pack, so this is news to me, but fair.
I hope it's included in the season pass. As much as an idiot I took the pack that allows you to play on September 5th. As much as I expect nothing from the season pass.
Once he started going on about the Black Templars, all I could think about was the “No little German boy! Don’t join the Black Templars!”

I cannot like this comment enough! :D I'm planning on doing the same thing.

Inquisitor, this man right here!
I hear from some sources that Rowboat made some "successor" chapters from the loyalist remnants of the traitor legions.
As an avid salamander fan, I forgive you. But storm giants are salamander successor. Please at your earliest convenience clarify, thank you.
I’m hoping there is going to be more customisation to make you’re marine more in line with their chapter.. salamanders dragon helms, space wolves massive furs on their shoulders etc etc
I really hope we get the Black Dragons as a salamanders successor chapter
May Sigismund smile upon you, brother

Not entirely true, another author (don't remember which book regarding the 21st cursed founding) said that the minotaur's geneseed was 'chimeric'. meaning that it wasn't just the iron warrior geneseed that was used to create these guys.
The character customisation is a perfect way to milk you simps for every dime, in true GW fashion. I love it.
A grey name Australian...
Me and my boys cant wait to unlock the Deathwatch and rock our former chapters on our pauldrons! Really playing into the small unit xeno exterminators.
Its a preorder bonus too. you get access to the addtitional cosmetics when you preorder the gold or ultr edition of the game
"Many speculate these unknowing foundings are made with Traitor gene source, but only the Primarchs went traitor, the gene source is innocent."
"The Minotaurs are heresy! They're made with Iron Warrior gene source!"
Anyway, Spartan Space Marines are rad, though Asterion Moloc isn't a cyborg. Whenever he dies, a new Minotaur is either given his memories or is brainwashed and is renamed Asterion Moloc.
Personally, I'm waiting for Iron Snakes to be added. I can easily make the colors, all I need is the heraldry.
salamanders, Charcharadons, and Black Templars are my personal favorites so those will be my first ones to try and unlock for sure 🔥🔥
Still a true goosebump moment when I saw that Robbie MacNiven's cherished Carcharadons had made it into the game...
I'm totally playing a Blood Raven.
"Hippity hoppity, where the fuck is my property?"
Thank you for this vid!!
Man I hope they add Lamenters down the line, and if you use it it'll added difficulty.
of all the chapters that aren't yet announced to be getting DLC I'd say that Blood Angels are one of the most likely ones (either them or the Space Wolves) so Lamenters have a pretty good chance of getting added as part of the Blood Angel pack.
Someone making this game is a Badab War fan it seems - only a handful of chapters involved not currently present at launch
7:20 VULKAN LIVES
I was really hoping for Raptors
I like how the Brazen Consuls armor part is unlocked by the chapter right next to them rather than themselves.
I could have sworn that the reason the Black Templars have more than the codex allows is because the chapters are allowed to have more than allowed if they are on Crusade.....so they are always on Crusade.
some chapters just choose not to follow the codex. don't need to find technicalities in the rules if you just choose to ignore the rulebook altogether.
for example there's the Space Wolves. before the Primaris came along the Space Wolves had only ever attempted to make 1 successor chapter (the Wulf Brothers. it went awfully and the entire chapter became Wulfen and were disbanded), after which they gave up completely and stayed at full legion strength as a chapter that was not codex-compliant. after the Primaris were made the Space Wolves made a second, more successful, successor, the Wolfspear, but on the whole the Space Wolves themselves are still non-compliant and stick to legion strength
the Blood Angels, Dark Angels, and White Scars are also considered non-compliant for their own reasons (fairly major reasons in the case of the Blood Angels (the Sanguinary Guard, Death Companies, and Sanguinary Priests) and Dark Angels (they have a few issues but the most openly notable non-compliance is the Ravenwing). for the White Scars it mostly just seems to be a case of them having a bunch of traditional role names and honorary titles instead of the using the terms laid out in the codex). these non-compliances seem to extend to most (if not all) of their successor chapters.
doing a double check, even besides their raw numbers, the Black Templars have a fair few other differences that mark them out as being non-compliant.
even the Ultramarines have their own minor deviances (Tyrannic War Veterans to be specific), but it's minor enough that they are still considered codex-compliant.
probably the most codex-compliant chapter would be the Imperial Fists.
@@Eclipsed_Embers I was only referring to the Black Templars. The reason they follow the codex and still have more than they should is because when on Crusade. You can do that.
Safe to say I’m so hyped for this game, praying it releases without too many issues
Already hyped to know the blood ravens are in the game! Can't wait to play.
Would love grey knights. Even if they don't get any special abilities etc, I just want the shoulders and helmets
I have never been soo hyped about a game in my entire life
I am stoked for this game. Been reading the Horus Heresy books. Just started Battle for the Abyss. Loving it so far.
9:47 They're easier (for beginners) to paint than yellow. xD
18:18 I would have loved it if they had White Panthers as a scheme for the UM successors!
Got the game 15% cheaper using your code, thank you so much, love the content sir!
But the storm giants entry made me think hold up, wait a minute
very happy to see red scorpions here. i have a red scorpion army sprinkled with some lamenters units and would love to play as one
The Storm Giants are one of the few Salamanders successor chapters. Can't wait to play as a Salamander in the game
omg I just saw you can apply NULN OIL to your color scheme, this game is going to be sick. I'll spend hours just on messing around with the customization lol
Amazing! Thank you! Subscribed!!
Iron hands should have silver hands. Taurans should have black on the lower half of their legs. Iron Hounds and Castellans of The Rift should have different colored face plates. Theres a lot of customization things missing.
Red scorpions was a forgeworld chapter specifically for the seige of vraks along side the death korps of kreig and for a short showing dark angels too
