@@ryanbell4952 a litter bike feels about the same as a 600. Only until around 100 mph then a litter bike will keep pulling as hard as the 600 at 30mph. It will keep pulling that hard till you give up usually. I've taken mine to Road America a few times. Gave up around 160 mph and the bike still pulls hard.

This has been my philosophy for over 20 years of riding sport bikes. You have to respect and even fear your bike a little bit to stay safe. You have to analyze everything and everyone on the road constantly and stay 3 or 4 steps ahead of any potential scenario. Make it a game where you try to predict what everyone else is going to do at least 5 seconds before they do it. The scary part is when you realize you were wrong so often.
i just had one of these last week ,my first liter bike ,and my first impression of it was its easy and safe ,just dont be stupid and you shouldb be fine

This video really hit home and hit hard. Everything you said in this video is very true and you are so humble Shawn/Shaun/Sean. Don’t know how your name is spelled. This video really humbled me. Good video and thank you for making this and putting things about riding specifically 600s,750s,liters, and higher into perspective
I've got an '08 cbr1000rr and I agree with everything you said. It handles incredibly light for a liter bike, and is designed to do much more extreme stuff than I'll ever do on it. The first time I gunned it on an on-ramp, I instinctively yelled "Holy sh!t!" out loud.
I wake up early Sunday morning and open my CBR-SP2 up in the Express lanes of I-75 , beautiful straight flat pavement, barrier walls on both sides for miles. After hitting 180+ , 130mph becomes relaxation!!, forget about doing 60-70, feels like walking

I couldn't believe how fast it was, and yes, I do remember that first pull (near instant over 100+ mph, on the back wheel in 3rd gear, and still building power with no sighn of quitting). I just cruised home doing the speed limit, the whole time thinking "I absolutely NEED to get one of these. I definitely WILL get one, one day, somehow." and I finally came full circle just this weekend after chasing "the perfect spot bike". In the last couple of years I went from a K5 Gixxer 1K, to a ZX-14, and now I'm back where it all started with a 2011 Repsol (I'm a sucker for orange and black, so it was just natural) just in time catch a Halloween ride, before I park it for the winter. I'm hoping this one will satiate my desire for the "perfect" street spot-bike and end my hunt (The ZX-14 was SO close, perfect power/ delivery, comfort, and ridability, but It was just way too heavy). If this one doesn't do it for me I don't even know what's next. It hurts me to think about it, but dropping upwards of $20K on a Z-H2, Super Duke, or Speed Triple is the last idea I can even start to think about and I just don't think I have it in me. CBR for the win?🤞😅🤞

Just picked up a 2010 cbr 1000 (red/black) with 9,000 miles on it for $6,200.00. It was that or a gsxr 1000, and an r1. You motivated me to make my choice on the cbr 1000. 1989 CBR 1000 was the first Bike I fell in love with as a kid used to go on the back of it every chance I got :) love CBR Bikes & yours is stunning mate.
Liter bikes are lazy on the street. Much easier in my opinion, which is why I love them. Obviously more power and throttle sensitivity, but at slow speeds the pull is so much better. Self control is the main point. We cant avoid death no matter what we do.
Very very true about what you said about the five second gap between them looking in their mirror and doing the maneauvre.. Which is when you reached the same space.. Also true about other drivers not being prepared for that stuff and panicking.
I had a 2004 fireblade and i last week i had a frontal crash with a car, i was elbow sliding and i just slid into oncoming traffic witch gave me 2 broken legs ... But ima buy another blade , a 2008 and up because man ....i own a s1000rr also but that bmw aint got shit on the blade, the bmw its a character less bike But the blade , its a race bike with a race soul🙏🤘🏻
agree with your comment, i remember my first litre bike and it was a 09 cbr1000rr repsol edition. I still remember hitting full throttle for the first time and lifting the front wheel of the ground in 1st gear doing 70mph, that for me was life changing coming from a cbr600rr. The pull was nothing like i had ever experienced before. I now have a 1000whp s15 and a s1000rr, to be fair i ride the s1000rr more than i drive the s15, simply because the s1000rr gives a better rush, these litre bikes have killed my love for cars and like you said you will always be chasing that feeling
@@bigjeffy88 they were the best litre bikes of their time before all the newer ones came out with all the electronics and huge power out puts and to be fair they are alot scarier to ride than my current s1000rr, simply because of the lack of electronics. You get it wrong and there is nothing to save you. Still a beast of a bike and in my opinion still one of the best looking
I reckon thats gonna be my second bike. I'v been riding a cbr600f3 for 3 months now and its serious fun but now you said about that 1 litre feeling, I want it haha. I appreciate your exprience man, your so right about cars changing lanes, gotta be so careful.
I remember my first bike, a CBR 600 F3 (1992) looked real scratched up was my first bike and we deliberately went for a cheap not so pretty not overly powerful bike to be my first. Last ride of the season that year with my buddies, who is older and has ridden for many years, taught me how to ride and think, we hit a road with small pebbles on it and I low side around 50 kilometers/h. Bike is fucked up. Decided to fix it up a little and sell it with a minor loss and going for a Gixxer 750-R 2001. We searched for some time and found one with decent mileage, but 200 kilometers away. So here I am one season as a rider on a 90 - 100HP bike driving to pick up a suspersport with 140HP. We check it out, a friend who works with bikes daily tests it and gives me the thumbs up to buy it. Had to ride it home late April evening my buddies in a car, and they call me and asks me to give it a little run when the coast is clear. Man the power curve compared to what I was used to scared the ever living crap out of me. Unfortunately the weather went to nearly freezing degrees and most of the ride I was freezing. We ended up leaving it at a friends house and I took the car home the rest of the way but I did not ride that bike for a few days. it scared me good which thankfully put in a little fear of god in me again. I still to this day believe it has kept me humble and respectful of the power and dangers of riding a motorcycle I love it and the speed but I sure as hell respect it just as much.
Hadn't seen this. Usually you're going on about sum kind of Harley or other cruisers, blah. I'm 66 and I don't ride cruisers, and never will, and never have! Yeah now this is a good bike ! This held my interest, good vid!
Yeah, I picked up a 2008 in 2009 during the recession also. $15,000 cad at local dealers and I paid something like $7800ish USD at the time across the border... Worked out to 10,000 cad out the dooor. Was deal of the century.
Yeah it’s a shame that that’s how it is on American highways @9:50. I completely agree but it’s also part to the fact that people here just don’t know how highways work like people in Germany.. he should be able to look in his mirror/blind spot and be able to predict speed and decide whether he can get over or not, people are horrible at predicting speed and better safe than sorry when it comes to changing lanes. But traffic also happens or maybe you don’t realize and you’re about to miss your exit and shit happens. That’s why people say you gotta be on double alert while riding.
Hi. Love these videos. Newcomers to motorcycling should watch you as well because you drive everything from beginners bikes to ground missiles. Your throttle control is great and I can tell you've been driving for quite some time. I drive a 1200cc sport tourer with about 108hp. It's not the fastest thing on 2 wheels, but has plenty of power. Driving it would not be possible unless you master control over the throttle. Jesus may watch over me while I ride, but I can wait a little longer for a face to face meeting!
Used bikes are the way to go 100% just picked up a 2007 zx6r in perfect condition with only 7k miles on it and brand new tires for 4k. Yeah I don’t have a warranty but I’m okay with that I’m able to get full coverage for much cheaper since I own the bike and it’s like 12 years old. Between the zx6r and my 03 r6 I couldn’t be happier and honestly don’t feel the need to get a newer bike. my bikes still keep up with brand new 600s and in my opinion the older bikes look even better. I always tell people buy used youre way better off getting a used bike over brand new unless you have a lot of extra cash or want all the new electronic rider aids, which I’m sure can be nice but I’ve never ridden a bike with any electronics or new tech besides the slipper clutch on my zx6r if that counts lol
BaggedBlueSi yeah but 8k is twice as much as what I paid and the bike I got was still practically brand new. It works out better to get a used bike since I only had 4K to spend and didn’t want to finance. I’d rather pay cash and because I paid cash and the bikes not brand new insurance ends up being super cheap to.
Im in the process of selling me ninja and I have a guy with an offer of 5600 for his cbr1000rr 08 with 9500 miles. Im just scared of buying an oil burner or a engine knocker. But im assuming it has been recalled and fixed since then.
the only reason why i probably wont buy this cbr1000rr (2008-2010) is the recall on the crankshaft :/ its a big deal for me but its still an amazing bike
Unless you clutch dump a lot and do clutch up wheelies a lot , the primary gear in the crankshaft won’t wine. Honda states it’s just the noise that occurs and it doesn’t affect performance or reliability, and that it was due to the primary gear in the crank not being heat treated correctly. They also state in the service bulletin that they issued for the crankshaft that only a small number of owners will be effected , leading me to think that a batch of primary gears left the factory improperly heat teated, not all of them. (I could be wrong, just a theory) . I have an 08cbr1000rr 9,000 miles on it, no crank wine. I ride my bikes pretty fast/hard, and it has so much damn power that you don’t need the clutch to do wheelies 🤷🏼♂️😅 That being said, if I was a stunt rider, or drag racing, which both include a lot of clutch dumps, l the 08 cbr1000rr probably wouldn’t be my first choice of bike to use, but if you ride it the way you would on a track, or love to rip through canyons/ winding roads, this is the perfect bike. Any racing I do is usually roll racing and not from a stand still, so the bike has been good to me so far
I love my 06 CBR1000RR...I currently own a dozen supersport bikes, and the CBR1000RR is far and away my favorite, unless it's raining. Then I opt for my 2014 YZF-R1 with traction control and rider modes.
I have the black one same year and model(see pic profile).Great bikes! It is a beast of a bike and for a superbike it is extremely flickable and easy to handle. The power and acceleration on this bike as well as the breaking system are tops.Just a joy to ride even on long distances.Would never get rid of my one even after all these years never given me a day of trouble,Honda reliability!
I liked my 2008 too. Had very sharp predictable handling and very comfortable riding position, however it burned a TON of oil. Most of them do this. If you can get one for dirt cheap and replace the transmission output shaft, replace the crank, new pistons, rings and hone the cylinders then they are good. If you plan on leaving the engine and trans alone you’re taking a serious gamble.
It's very ironic... I have this same make and model, just different colors. I've been watching tons of Sean's videos, considering selling my CBR to get something more cruiser oriented, but I love this bike so much, even though I don't need it... I can't sell it. Just so happens Sean loves this bike as wel haha
I had an ‘07 Fireblade until it got stolen, a year and half ago, I so miss having a bike, but looking to get a 2008 Fireblade next...., until then, I got me bmw 330 m sport convertible, as for Jesus, well I’ve got Him too 😊, that bike does sound sweet.....
Jesus man!!! Maybe it because I'm a new rider under 50 miles under me but how do you brave such acceleration without going nuts. I just got my vlx 600 to 55mph and fuck, it made me question my sanity. I know more savvy folks may laugh at me but I'm working up to 60mph and taking the MSF course so I can brace the highway. So far 55 on a bike feels nothing like a car lol Anyone else reading this start like me? I really want and like the speed but atm I'm trying to get more courage. I love my bike and can't wait to get better. Love your channel Sean Reposted for more replys
I feel ya man, the highway here is 70 mph limit with plenty of wind, I asked a buddy to go with me the first time and since then I don't worry til the wind blows past 30 mph gusts. Just realize that it's dangerous and respect it and make good decisions and you'll get used to it in no time
westboundNinja1 I No Doubt understand ,when i finally nutted up and rode my 09' 750 after already having it 3 months prior after finishing the msf course i literally had to pull over to a gas station because my nerves was wrecked from going 75 lol , Stay safe though fam and dont drive above your limits
Drey Goss few weeks ago I took it on the freeway a got it to 8mph for about 10 seconds. This bike can do it but I'm not sure it was marked to do so, granted it was 3am, cold as hell and I was already intimidated. Ended up doing 57 mile trip x2. Figured I'll hold off on doing it again until I'm COMPLETELY comfortable. May even consider switching to the sv650 bc it's much smoother imo on higher speeds. Also more planted. My vlx600 felt like it wanted to slip from under me from the wind and passing trucks on the freeway. Stay safe out there brother.
Me too. I get so many compliments on the look of mine. Isn't it awesome that you feel like you're riding a 600 but as soon as you crack the throttle you definitely know you're on a 1000 🤘😝
I am lnterested in buying a 2010 cbr 1000 like this...but i was told yhe VIBRATIONS ftom the engine are really strong ....for example, much more disturbing than in her little Sister CBR rr 600 09 (the bike i own now)....and i checked some videos in yt and most of them sound awful at ralenti Is tahat true about VIBRATIONS? @@breezyb1251 / I got a 2016 CBR500R as my first bike and plan to upgrade to the 600cc before I jump to this monster CBR1000RR
Truth. I remember the first time I rode my brothers 94 cbr 900rr, I felt like I was going into another dimension. Incredible.
I have a 2008 cbr1000 and a new zx10r and this is the best video on RUclips that explains what they are really about and what they do to you.
1989 CBR 1000 was the first Bike I fell in love with as a kid used to go on the back of it every chance I got :) love CBR Bikes & yours is stunning mate.
Great video, commentary was great, good perspectives
I LOVE the body style of the 08, even the mirrors don't look Soo bad either
Liter bikes are lazy on the street. Much easier in my opinion, which is why I love them. Obviously more power and throttle sensitivity, but at slow speeds the pull is so much better. Self control is the main point. We cant avoid death no matter what we do.
THE best and maybe the most important video on the internet.
Very very true about what you said about the five second gap between them looking in their mirror and doing the maneauvre.. Which is when you reached the same space.. Also true about other drivers not being prepared for that stuff and panicking.
Cool I just got this for my first bike!
BRUHHH
I’m boutta get this for my first bike 😂😂
Bro same just picked it up today
I had a 2004 fireblade and i last week i had a frontal crash with a car, i was elbow sliding and i just slid into oncoming traffic witch gave me 2 broken legs ...
But ima buy another blade , a 2008 and up because man ....i own a s1000rr also but that bmw aint got shit on the blade, the bmw its a character less bike
But the blade , its a race bike with a race soul🙏🤘🏻
I currently own this exact motorcycle. Still runs great!
had my 08 for 5 years coming from a K4 and still love it :)
Needed 2 hear that. Just got my 1st Superbike n went with 1000rr. Where u riding reminded me of mpls area. WI, here, keep it cool. Great video.
3:44 I lost my shit when you said it'll bring you to Jesus just as quickly! You are HILARIOUS!
Daniel Greene haha thanks
why say that bro, still got love but no man
Bam! You just met your saviour...
I love that bike tho :)
Same here regarding cars. I pasted my bike test first and had a daytona 675. Hated cars from the minute i rode it. Now looking at this beast :)
agree with your comment, i remember my first litre bike and it was a 09 cbr1000rr repsol edition.
That was my first liter bike as well. Still have it. Almost 30k miles on it now. Still pulls like a bat out of hell lmao.
Went from 600 single cylinder, first bike, to a katana 600 , then an r6 now an 09 repsol cbr1000
@@mototebbs209 How do you like the 09 Repsol? I'm between an 09 or 17 cbr
Ok. You're my Hero. Many pearls of riding wisdom!!!. I need track day's
Great video man .👍🏼👍🏼 thx for the info cbr1000rr
7:37 Perfect Line !!
Hadn't seen this. Usually you're going on about sum kind of Harley or other cruisers, blah. I'm 66 and I don't ride cruisers, and never will, and never have! Yeah now this is a good bike ! This held my interest, good vid!
i been tellin that joe smoh story for 25 years
Yeah, I picked up a 2008 in 2009 during the recession also.
Wrong Hat haha awesome thanks for watching
And that’s why I ride a Honda Helix 250 scooter. I don’t have the willpower to resist the horsepower.
Your a smart person, because most people think they can resist the power.
no... you dont have the bank account to support it LOL
You overpaid a bit at 4k
BaggedBlueSi not even close its practically a brand new bike, kelly blue book has it worth closer to 5k
NathanDaniel you can get a leftover new bike for around 7-8k, I suppose you didn’t over pay but you got an average deal
SpeedSeeker MOTO careful, my friend has one, it burns oil but he’s managed to put 57,000 miles on it. He has to fill oil often tho
@@agentmartagentmart9122 Yeah, I ended up buying a new 2018 yamaha mt09.
the only reason why i probably wont buy this cbr1000rr (2008-2010) is the recall on the crankshaft :/ its a big deal for me but its still an amazing bike
I ride my bikes pretty fast/hard, and it has so much damn power that you don’t need the clutch to do wheelies 🤷🏼♂️😅
That being said, if I was a stunt rider, or drag racing, which both include a lot of clutch dumps, l the 08 cbr1000rr probably wouldn’t be my first choice of bike to use, but if you ride it the way you would on a track, or love to rip through canyons/ winding roads, this is the perfect bike. Any racing I do is usually roll racing and not from a stand still, so the bike has been good to me so far
Great video. I have a 2019 ZX6R and now I want a CBR 1000RR
I got my cbr 2008 1000rr lastnight fuccccn lovin' it!!!!!!!
I love my 06 CBR1000RR...I currently own a dozen supersport bikes, and the CBR1000RR is far and away my favorite, unless it's raining. Then I opt for my 2014 YZF-R1 with traction control and rider modes.
@Lex Man very cool, man....I have to say, I stand by my comment, even 8 months later...except truthfully now I ride the CBR1000RR in the rain, too. 🤣🤣
words of wisdom bro. good stuff
That’s it I’m trading in my CBR600RR
2009 hmm maybe the crashing of the economy had a little something to do with it.
Good choice. Light, fast, comfortable and simple. And that analog tach is the bomb.
You are a funny dude, had me cracking up the whole video. Nice bike bro
Bought a red one in 2018 for $5k 8500miles. Sold a year later and I regret to this day.😔
I picked up 2008 honda cbr1000rr because of this video, i like the power and going fast
excellent attitude bro.... very realistic..keep up the vids ,, ohh very nice bike jesus peace.
Great video!
Stern warning, wisdom for the road, keeps more of us out there ! O/O°
Very well put👏
It's very ironic... I have this same make and model, just different colors. I've been watching tons of Sean's videos, considering selling my CBR to get something more cruiser oriented, but I love this bike so much, even though I don't need it... I can't sell it. Just so happens Sean loves this bike as wel haha
I just got a used one like yours. I have to clean go through the oil and coolant etc... but I just loving it.
Did anyone else see the huge truck with the tiny wheels lol 9:08
I had an ‘07 Fireblade until it got stolen, a year and half ago, I so miss having a bike, but looking to get a 2008 Fireblade next...., until then, I got me bmw 330 m sport convertible, as for Jesus, well I’ve got Him too 😊, that bike does sound sweet.....
Yea I got a 2003 cbr 954rr love it!
Great video..I rear ended a van at about 140, other cars make it dangerous..be careful 🚴
So far 55 on a bike feels nothing like a car lol
Anyone else reading this start like me? I really want and like the speed but atm I'm trying to get more courage. I love my bike and can't wait to get better.
Love your channel Sean

you just get used to it. the flesh is never satisfied.
I feel ya man, the highway here is 70 mph limit with plenty of wind, I asked a buddy to go with me the first time and since then I don't worry til the wind blows past 30 mph gusts. Just realize that it's dangerous and respect it and make good decisions and you'll get used to it in no time
thejUmpyNehPets my friend thank you for This. I can't wait
westboundNinja1 I No Doubt understand ,when i finally nutted up and rode my 09' 750 after already having it 3 months prior after finishing the msf course i literally had to pull over to a gas station because my nerves was wrecked from going 75 lol , Stay safe though fam and dont drive above your limits
I own a 17 blade in black. To much fun.
Same here, as soon as I saw the matte black it had to be mine!
Me too. I get so many compliments on the look of mine. Isn't it awesome that you feel like you're riding a 600 but as soon as you crack the throttle you definitely know you're on a 1000 🤘😝
Love your vids dude, I may come to SRK to see you about a sport bike.
Damnit dude, just when I was thinking about the 600rr, now I wanna go with this one.....
I am lnterested in buying a 2010 cbr 1000 like this...but i was told yhe VIBRATIONS ftom the engine are really strong ....for example, much more disturbing than in her little Sister CBR rr 600 09 (the bike i own now)....and i checked some videos in yt and most of them sound awful at ralenti
Is tahat true about VIBRATIONS? I would appreciate some información from anybody, thanks
By the way, this sounds nice. Is it serie exhaust?
Just bought the 2008 fire blade with 10 k original miles
If you don't mine telling how much you paid? Looking into buying one myself
Grate video, amazing bike. Hade a Blade , and I'll get back to one. Can't get along with my 1000 Suzi that well.
Mad video well explained
